3361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 102k Dogecoins missing from my fast-pool account on: January 11, 2014, 06:27:46 PM
Why do people store so many coins on pools? Why don't you auto-withdraw? storing your coins on a pool is asking for trouble.

My pool accounts are empty. I also never use the same password twice because of stuff like this.

I am being careful now but the damage is done once

Yes. I'm sorry for your loss, but hopefully it will mean you will be extra careful in future. Never rely on other people to keep your coins secure. Never think they're safe just because they're in your wallet either. Your PC may be harder to access, but you are on a network, just like the pools.

The price of PRTcoin on GUOGAO Trading platform go up quickly! http://www.guogao.com/trade/PRT/

Didn't someone say it was a scam a page ago?  Roll Eyes

This should be the procedure causes I think .
Minimum withdrawal number is 1, such as 1cny,1prt,  But forget 1 BTC = 5000+cny 。

Ah, I see. So anyone trading there who isn't expecting to make 1 BTC should either wait until they do, or just trade by buying/selling particle.
3363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 11, 2014, 06:16:02 PM
guys help me save time (I would like to avoid reading 300 pages.)
I'm trying to sync catcoind and I always reach this block: 20290
I tried several nodes and it is always the same, the reason I guess is the fork. Can you give me some recent nodes that would allow me to sync with the correct fork?
this is the list I use right now:

addnode=eu.coinium.org:9933
addnode=us.coinium.org:9933
addnode=teamcatcoin.com:9933
addnode=108.54.144.63:9933
addnode=209.162.15.139:9933
addnode=94.134.24.71:9933
addnode=188.230.218.60:9933
addnode=123.211.181.88:9933
addnode=172.245.21.138:9933
addnode=50.162.94.94:9933

You need to download the new wallet. It's in the OP. Delete everything in your roaming folder except for your catcoin.conf and wallet.dat. Download and run new wallet. presto.

(Remember to back up your wallet.dat before doing this!)

Coinium should connect you to the blockchain.

I was mining Doge coins at fast-pool and 9 hours ago from now my account got hacked.And my 102K Doge coins are missing.I tried messaging the fast-pool owner but he hasnt replied.Isnt it their responsibility to protect our account and compensate us when it gets hacked under their supervision?

Not if the hack didn't originate there. If you used the same username/password/pin in another pool, then it could have been another pool that was compromised. If you use different combinations, then it's likely the pool was hacked.

well so i can dump them

If you think the coin isn't going anywhere. Yes. But at the same time, people are buying up coins being dumped because they think the coin is going somewhere.

The question should be this; which would you regret more? Not selling the coins now, and then the value dropping drastically, or selling the coins now, and the price going through the roof?

I'm not going to tell you what to do with your coins. Either way, someone will benefit or lose from your actions.

It could be the next Bitcoin, or the next Dimecoin. Or neither. Who knows.

Yep, people buying up the dumped coins says it has potential. There's interest, so I'll continue to hold...

How's them video cards working out for you?

Got them working a treat now. Heat is still a bit of an issue for my R9 280x card, so It needs better cooling and I need to spend some time tweaking the settings, but otherwise I've got both my AMD and Nvidia card mining side by side for 20 hours or so now without any problems. I can get 15-20% more performance out of it once I've tweaked it, but for now I'm just happy to have them running.

Selling 0.004 BTC is fanciful, 1/10 of QRK is reasonable.

Quark is instamined hyped up scammy coin.

Particle is pure. Development is slow, but solid. The transactions are so fast this coin can be used as currency anywhere.
with a supply of 1bil coins it can be spread out to many users. We need more giveaways for that.
There is no hype around this coin, which means its up to the community to pick it up and take it places.

If you guys say its worth 1/10 of QRK, - it will be worth that much. If you say that it is worth much more - it will be. How do you not see that this is how it works out to be in the end with every coin? Miners basically are the ones who control the price, and they are part of the community supporting this coin. If you will be dumping at ridiculously low prices - you will be damaging the wealth of your own, and the rest of the community as a whole.

I just don't think this coin deserves to become another pump and dump coin. It deserves recognition and a respectful place between the already established coins.

Getting it on cryptsy will just allow miners bigger control over the price, and that is a scary thought.

I thought it was market speculators that controlled the price? Not miners. People aren't going to buy into Particle until they see it going places. That's why the price goes up. Speculation. Happened to Quark, happened to Litecoin, hell, it even happened to RonPaulCoin, and as far as I can see it really hasn't got a great deal going for it except a good name and a strong message. Even Coinye has more support than Particle, and that coin is so worthless there isn't a denomination small enough to value it.

Market speculators drive up the price by pumping BTC into it and increasing the market cap. Miners don't increase it because they effectively decrease the potential market cap by selling so low. Right now early miners hold so many coins and have so many on the market at a low price that you would have to pump a lot of BTC into it to drive the price up. Until that happens, this coin won't go anywhere near 0.004. Or 0.0004 for that matter.

People need to buy in for it to go up.

Say what you like about Quark, but it has development, PR and hype. That is driving market speculation. It wouldn't survive on that alone forever, but it is all market speculation.

If Particle came out with some new software, or find some financial or scientific body that backed the coin, then yeah, you'd see that kind of pricing. Until there's development, nothing will happen. If left too long, miners will stop mining, transaction times will die, along with the blockchain and any hope of this ever increasing in value.

The longer nothing happens, the more likely the coin will die. This is a fact. No hype. No speculation. Fact. The numbers do not lie.
3371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 【【【IPO scam clue】】】Keep your eye on it on: January 11, 2014, 02:03:20 PM
Please also include Visacoin in that list. Received well over 100 BTC and it's suddenly gone eerily quiet in that IPO.

We need a thread to inform people of these scams, and make sure they understand they are ALL scams. They are just riding on the hopes and dreams of those who think it will be the next NXT.

IT WON'T. PERIOD. Any serious IPO now like NXT would do it completely differently. A serious development team wouldn't associate themselves with these scams in a million years.

People have got to realise that this is a typical investor fallacy; thinking because it happened once it's bound to happen twice. Investors in NXT didn't have this hanging over their heads to cloud their judgements. The scammers are preying you falling into this trap.

IPOs like NXT are over. Done. Finished. Stop throwing your money down the toilet. Any serious IPO would have code, an entire team, actual EVIDENCE.

Stop giving the scammers money. Next IPO that pops up? I will put money on it being a scam.

Stop selling it so cheap goddammit!

I can see PRT at 0.004 BTC easy! Just wait for it and dont sell dammit.

I have donated 5k to chowdan just now as well. Please spread the love! And I also suggest smaller giveaway ammounts to spread it over to more people. anything between 50 and 100prt is fine for a giveaway.

How?

Quark is at 0.00009, and at its brief high peak, 0.003, but that was not for long.

I'm afraid without any serious development and no substantial updates from the developers this coin will die. The market is choked up with Particle. People don't invest in coins unless they think they're going to go up in value, and they don't go up in value unless things happen. I just don't see what's going to cause the value of the coin to go up.

The difficulty has dropped. Frozen is at 0.000047 on Coined up right now, but that has close to 8 million total coins. Compare that to Particle's 1 billion.

This coin needs more than promises of things to come. Without concrete updates, it'll never reach even half the price of Frozen.

I will hold onto 100k, but honestly, I'm not expecting it to be worth much unless activity drastically changes for this coin.

It will never worth as much as Quark yea, but I think we should work to get this coin to Cryptsy, it can make ppl more interested in the coin I guess.

Now is the time to push. The big bag holders of 1 mil+ particle, if they ever want them to be worth anything, need to start promoting it, or their bag is going to come up empty.

I love how under the radar this coin is.

We'll break out and when we do everyone will be wishing they were here now.

We're working on some cool things that should bring the coin more mainstream, we'll update once we're closer.

I'm glad to hear it. If you can live up to that, then there's nothing stopping this coin from rocketing. Everything feels right about this coin. No premine, under 20 million total coins and a great name and logo.

Once this hits an exchange it's going to be extremely difficult to mine, and yes, people will be wishing they would have mined it before that happened.

hahaha I cannot wait till my scrypt asic raises the difficulty for you poor gpu miners

Aren't they just more power efficient? With the amount of altcoins on the market your "scrypt asic" isn't going to make a dent. Maybe you can pump and dump quicker, but that's about it. Mine anything other than crapcoins and all you'll save is on the electricity bill.

Gloat away.
3377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Crypto-Credits: Let's skip the pump n dump phase completely, okay? on: January 11, 2014, 02:21:36 AM
Thank you for answering my questions so thoroughly. Unfortunately as someone relatively new to cryptocurrency I doubt my initial stake would be anything but relatively minuscule, however there's some really interesting ideas here so I'd like to get involved. I'm on the forums daily, and have some coding experience in several languages (although only as a hobbyist). I love to tinker, so I'd be more than happy to participate in any rigorous windows-based testing.

I like the idea of coloured denominations. Believe it or not, I was thinking of something very similar this morning. Not with colours, but by rating each denomination by a precious metal; tin, copper, iron, silver, gold, so on. It probably does make more sense using colours as they're an abstract and so their value is determined by association rather than preconceptions. With different dominations I feel like it's a way for everyone to get in at their own level. I think this concept could be very powerful in providing variance in any sort of market-based system. I'm sure there will also be a desire to trade in lower dominations for higher denominations and as such a natural consequence will be higher denominations would be seen to be more valuable than the sum of lower denominations they're made from. Purely from perception, at least.

Cryddits?

Crypto-Credits was just too many syllables to expect people to actually say, especially if they intend to use metric prefixes in front of it.

I quite like CC, for short.

3379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Nxt] Gauging interest on Nxt banknotes on: January 11, 2014, 01:20:41 AM
I know nothing about NXT, but if I were promoting it, and I could give someone a small denomination banknote, I think it would gain their curiosity.

I think it will interest a different group of people. I think it all boils down to the quality of design.
3380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just Pre-Mined TENS O single ALTCOIN on Coingen! on: January 11, 2014, 01:16:51 AM
So I hooked up a few of my servers and I was able to start mining several of the coins released on COINGEN. How the heck do they expect any of these coins to have any sort of value ??

I guess they will just get forked down the road?

I am sitting on a few mil of some of these coins now....

New coins are very unstable due to the difficulty. 99.9% of those coins will never see the light of day on an exchange. Without any sort of promotion nobody has any interest in those coins. Nobody to promote = no exchange. Maybe you'll get lucky and hit a coin before it's announced, but it seems like a waste of hashpower to me.
