I've said it before, but I don't actually think Elon is pro Doge or anything. This to me again comes off as a sort of tongue in cheek remark. We know that Elon Musk likes to troll on Twitter, and to me this just seems like subtle trolling. Elon Musk will know what Doge is, and he'll know why it doesn't stand up to Bitcoin at the moment. He definitely isn't stupid, despite the consensus around here.
Besides, it doesn't really matter what he thinks. I do believe he influenced the market a little bit with the drama initially surrounding Tesla, and him. However, I think as time goes on people are more aware of his trolling nature, and the fact that what he says doesn't really mean a lot in the grand scheme of things for Bitcoin. Exactly the same thoughts here. Elon is playing a game, playing with us, albeit in a subtle way. The loser is definitely the one who will take him or his tweets seriously. Elon's trolling resume is rather open to the public. He's got the track record of making tongue-in-cheek statements over Twitter. And he's obviously having fun in the way people, the media, even the market, and so on react to them. At the end of the day, I doubt he meant most, if not all, of them seriously. So, I guess it is long overdue that we shouldn't also take him or his statements seriously. Well I really hope more people now know to disregard what Musk says in relation to anything crypto, the man cant be trusted and probably only trolls to see what effects he can have on the markets. I'm one who couldnt care less anymore what he has to say about Bitcoin and crypto.

🎅🏻 🎄Historical #Bitcoin prices on Christmas Eve: 2016: $899 2017: $13,673 2018: $4,120
I can relate to these series of years because 2017 is when I got into Bitcoin and 2017 was the year when it crossed $10,000 and then doubled just to crash. 🎅🏻 🎄Historical #Bitcoin prices on Christmas Eve: 2020: $23,475 Today: $51,500
Interestingly will 2022 be a continuation of 2021? will there be a supercycle? or the start of a bear market? speculation will continue but I'm with mk4 above about a slow steady rise.

Peng Shuai has accused a member of the Chinese party leadership of raping her, damaging the country's reputation and I personally do not believe she will ever be able to leave the country or play tennis again.
It depends. For an ordinary person, who is not especially brave, then intimidation would probably work. They could say we will let you travel so long as you remain silent, but if you try to defect then we can track you down very easily. This would probably be enough of a threat. But Peng Shuai has demonstrated that as well as being a great tennis player, she is also an extraordinarily brave person to go up against the Chinese authorities as she has. I would imagine intimidation won't work too well on her personally.... but of course they can also threaten to harm her family if she steps out of line, which is another issue entirely. Basically the whole world knows that China is guilty here, even if she 'voluntarily' retracts her allegation. How China reacts to this situation is a question that can have far-reaching consequences. Yes the whole world knows about this but dors China care what we know, they are more worried about the damage caused by the allegation to the government, although somehow there may not be too many complaints within China for fear of what could happen to an individual.

I knew about Bitcoin as early as 2012 or 2013 but didnt do anything, I was very skeptical, I thought it was just some form of tokens for gamers., It wasnt until January 2017 that I got into it with my brother.

Honestly as soon as Liberty Media got the rights to F1 and all, they started doing amazing marketing and they have been doing this Netflix series as a new fresh blood thing. I remember watching maybe 15 years ago, and I restarted watching 2-3 seasons ago because of it basically, not because I watched it, I didn't but I saw it and I went "wait a minute why don't I watch F1 directly instead of this thing" and cameback watching it all over again. Honestly it has been amazing fun this season, doesn't matter if you are a Max fan or Lewis fan or just F1 fan, you must be feeling amazing after a season like that because it was really close. I am guessing the season of drive to survive regarding this season will be one of the most watched seasons ever, it is really awesome. You also got to see some stuff that you haven't seen before which is why it is definitely awesome. Like we all saw Grosjean thing, but we never really knew what really happened, watching it really put a lot of perspective into it. Only last Monday we were chatting about the Netflix Drive to Survive, I only thought there was one series which I watched with Intrigue. That show has really grown interest for the sport which lets face it to many its just cars going round, and around, and around . . . Until that show I didnt realise the busines was so cut-throat. I didnt realise there were other series, I will be sure to catch these over the holidays.

^^ I don't think that China will give in to these pressures from WTA and the whole tennis organizations. There are even reports that Peng Shuai has disappeared or at least not seen in public after her revelation. And we all know how authoritative the government are, so I doubt it will have an effect on them in my opinion. Meaning, they won't do any investigations and the accused might go free because he is a high ranking government official now.
I believed otherwise, that authoritarian regime will have to give in the pressures one time or another. Specially if it involves high ranking officials? for sure they are going to look at that case. Maybe they are right now that's why they remain quiet. It might takes months or years though, so I'm expecting that maybe next year we are going to hear about this case. I wouldn't agree with you. First of all, this case is completely covered up in China and is not mentioned in public at all. Even any trace of this news has been deleted on the Internet. After announcing this news that she was raped, the Chinese tennis player disappeared from the public, and the news was deleted within a few hours. Only after great international pressure, and the threat of international sports organizations to cancel sports competitions in China, the Chinese tennis player finally appeared in public but there is still a suspicion that she is free to do or say what she wants. Many people make the mistake of assuming that Western democratic standards apply in China as well. In fact, there is no real freedom in China and the Chinese Communist Party decides everything. From their point of view, the Chinese tennis player has damaged the country's reputation and must be punished for that. Even the cancellation of tennis tournaments in China will not change anything in such Chinese politics, where the interests of the nation are always more important than the interests of the individual. Peng Shuai has accused a member of the Chinese party leadership of raping her, damaging the country's reputation and I personally do not believe she will ever be able to leave the country or play tennis again. Thats a terrible state of affairs if it comes to pass, surely because of the publicity this has got China would not want to rock the boat any further and allow her to travel. Then again as above China is a very different country to western standards and may not feel the need to bow to any pressure the west generates. This is also my impression specially when she disappeared from the public and I'm thinking that the government is trying to cover her tracks as if to completely erase everything from the internet.
Anyhow, we do hope that they will make some actions about this 'allegations'. Tennis world haven't been rock with this some kind of scandals in the last 10 years and hopefully there will be others coming out.
Yea there was definitely an attempt at a cover up ombined with Peng Shuai keeping a low profile.

Another event this year which has to be noted was the Elon Musk "Event s" and the absolute feeding frenzy which followed his and Tesla's announcements to accept and not accept Bitcoin payments. Its amazing how one man can move markets with a tweet. Tesla buys $1.5 billion in bitcoin, plans to accept it as payment

What exactly is a supercycle though?
Is it that the market constantly rises? or is it that there wont be a notable prolonged Bear market?
I'm leaning toward the former in my understanding, a supercycle of bullish run, and somewhat just months of bearish and then the price will continue to go on again. Ah so the first quarter of 2022 is really the key to whether this supercycle manifests itself IMO Its really hard to call whether we will stay in this halving cycle or whether we are in a supercycle, maybe if we were hovering around the ₱100,000k now I would be leaning towards a supercycle ... but we are not near the $100,000 mark yet...
The market is still like 10 years old, data is very young and we can't extrapolate anything from it. We just rely on the last halving and it's subsequent bull run in 2017. Sure it might have been repeating itself every 4 years, But we can't still say and we can't predict how this run will go next year. Yea I suppose thats what is happening, we are comparing/expecting this year to be like previous halvings.

I would like to think China will give into this allegation by Peng Shuai and take action against that politician, this is really high profile and if gone unpunished it doesnt set a very good statement. It really says that if you are a politician you are above the law.
The more high profile players and others are vocal in condemning this behaviour the more pressure will be on officials to take action.

It was a nice idea especially for people who earn purely in Bitcoin and are customers of that mortgage company but the TAX implication in the US is a killer.
I wonder if they were themselves looking to get into Bitcoin or was it purely as service for existing and future customers?

Are any available?
Thanks
I think you had to reserve them when he was doing the pre-order. thought someone who ordered more than one might be willing to part with a copy. @selassiesoildier if you check out the spreadsheet earlier in the thread you will see who bought in bulk, like 10 or 20 and are in your area, US or EU and they might be able to sort you!

The Bitcoin whitepaper is stored in the blockchain as well so it should be well preserved. You can get it with this command: bitcoin-cli getrawtransaction 54e48e5f5c656b26c3bca14a8c95aa583d07ebe84dde3b7dd4a78f4e4186e713 true | jq -r '.vout[].scriptPubKey.asm' | cut -c3- | xxd -p -r | tail +9c | head -c 184292 > bitcoin.pdf
I may be wrong, but I guess Mbitr refers more to the resistance than the safekeeping of the whitepaper. I mean, we all have our copies of the whitepaper downloaded and saved somewhere safe. But, indeed, the best part here is that we somehow need to resist or show some resistance to the court's decision on the copyright of the Bitcoin whitepaper. The legal decision was of course in favor of Mr. Wright because Cøbra did not even put up a fight in court. But since we all know that Mr. Wright is not Satoshi, did not write the whitepaper, and therefore does not own it, and cannot order any site to take down the whitepaper, we will be united to show that. The way is to "put the Bitcoin whitepaper on as many websites/ publications as you can." In a way, this is like a civil disobedience, a resistance, a reaction to disobey a court order which is obviously unfair. gmaxwell created a thread prompting as many people to do just this, he also suggested notifying Wright's legal team. For a very small amount of Bitcoin anyone can buy a domain name, create a website and host the Bitcoin Whitepaper. The greater number of people who do this the harder it is for Wright to attack us all. original thread by Greg > So, you want to get sued by a scammer?

^ Yes he can probably beat some top 10 players in 2022 but I wouldnt expect it to be a regular occurrence. This year he beat Hurkacz and Tiafoe as his most notable wins but I cannot see him beating any of the top 5.
As a betting option, I would only bet on him in round 1 games because I think he will have mixed results in round 2 games.

So I was reading news on cryptocurrency adoption in 2021 and stumbled upon a list of notable celebrities that adopted cryptocurrency and top on the list is Snoop Dogg, Elon musk, Mark Zuckerberg etc, this have shown the path for wider crypto adoption in the coming years as institutions and entrepreneurs now diving into the crypto space. Coin telegraph did a nice compilation of the list and the area of interest. https://cointelegraph.com/news/celebrities-that-rode-the-crypto-wave-in-2021Thanks for the link and its nice to be reminded of those celebs who bought Bitcoin and got into crypto this year but I am really shocked as to the level of traction and investment DOGE got, there was a frenzy this year for that $hitcoin and it has slipped out of the top 10 on coinmarketcap and will likely keep slipping until some celeb gives it a jolt. Anyway its great to see celebs getting into Bitcoin it means that their followers have been exposed to it too, and they probably bought some on Revolut.

Here is an update to record that I have received the parcel from @Heisenberg_Hunter today and strangely enough no import duty was applied to it, all good. I will send PM's to my gang later this evening. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Flh3.googleusercontent.com%2F-dPcQEzg7YqY%2FYcDaerd3fDI%2FAAAAAAAAA2E%2FRlVbTqC7le8OorPcgtUdQY9y8qsKkeMhACNcBGAsYHQ%2Fs1600%2F1640028793938401-0.png&t=663&c=mKOptWe72yUzqw)

I stopped watching F1 many many moons ago when Michael Schumacher was so dominant to the point where every race win became kind of predictable. Now that Hamilton has been beaten to the championship this year It hopefully makes next season that bit more exciting, every sport needs a shake-up.
OK Hamilton may be the better driver but the excitement is to see that top driver pushed...and beaten.
You probably just missed the most epic world championship ever. This year will be remembered for decades like the year of Senna-Prost. Next year will probably have a shuffle but maybe they will always have these 2 teams dominating, nobody can predict it. For sure if another team will have a good idea for the top 3 teams will be easier to copy the idea and recover. Well I didnt see many races but have been following the adventures of Max because we have connections to The Netherlands and would be rooting for him. I remember the Senna-Prost early 90's era along with Schumacher, Hill and Alonso rivalries, I will be paying more atention next year, hopefully the challenge will continue. If its as close next year it will be difficult to bet on winners.

Hamilton is a driver whose talent level is way higher than Verstappen. And I don't think that some other driver will be able to break the records that Hamilton did for a long time period. The only reason why people support Verstappen who is an arrogant driver is that Hamilton has been dominating F1 for a long time and people just want a change.
I agree with you, because everything starts to get boring and tedious when we don't see anything else changing. Even for Hammilton, we know he was frustrated with the loss that was somehow unfair (not guilty but unfair), but wasn't that more thrilling? One more challenge for next season where he will get in a car and think: "I'm not invincible anymore, I need to run even better instead of starting to settle down and thinking I'll easily receive my trophy." I stopped watching F1 many many moons ago when Michael Schumacher was so dominant to the point where every race win became kind of predictable. Now that Hamilton has been beaten to the championship this year It hopefully makes next season that bit more exciting, every sport needs a shake-up.
