what's the most likely reason for this considerable push upwards?

Can you also include from $0.01 until $1, that would be great.
The data start at $0.05. I added $0.10 to $1.00.
3383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are some international payment companies not allowing Americans to join? on: October 12, 2013, 03:33:04 AM
'land of the free'
The USA is a fascistic, totalitarian dystopia with good PR.
3384  Other / Politics & Society / Re: are UK companies subject to USA laws? on: October 12, 2013, 03:28:03 AM
But wasn't it the USA that "ended" the USSR (unofficially of course!) Wink
No, they were caught completely by surprise by it.

It collapsed because mathematics can't be legislated into obedience.
3385  Other / Politics & Society / Re: are UK companies subject to USA laws? on: October 12, 2013, 01:28:26 AM
i see your point/anger, but it is not going to happen, and i also dont think it would be a good thing either.
They said the same thing about the USSR.

It's a different decade and a different Evil Empire this time around, but the ending will be the same.
3386  Economy / Economics / Re: Karen Hudes (formerly world bank): we need to get new currency like BTC ready on: October 11, 2013, 03:17:23 PM
We've arrived at the point where the banks are no longer working hand in hand with governments, banks have governments over a barrel now and are screwing them wholesale.
Banks and government are two sides of the same coin. Certainly in the US there's a constant revolving door between the most powerful banks and the highest levels of government.

Maybe you're talking about some of the smaller countries in the world that feel the effects of US imperialism via the banking system.

In any case nobody involved with any power to speak of has the slightest interest in protecting the financial well-being of the general population.

Excellent article and one governments worldwide should be promoting to protect their citizens from the risks of complete dependants on pieces of paper as a store of value.
That doesn't make any sense at all.

How much effort do you think a farmer puts into protecting his cows from milking?
3388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dwolla stops support for virtual currencies on: October 11, 2013, 01:37:34 PM
Shrem gave a talk at a Bitcoin conference a few days ago saying BitInstant will be back and ready to tackle regulatory issues (paraphrasing), so there's one thing to look forward to.
Apparently they are ready to go but are having problems finding banks willing to work with them. It sounded like as soon as they actually got all the licensing required for what they are doing it suddenly got harder, not easier, to find a banking partner.
3389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dwolla stops support for virtual currencies on: October 11, 2013, 01:34:29 PM
CampBX works fine with ACH.
Only in one direction.

You still can't add dollars to your CampBX via ACH. When this Dwolla change goes into effect, the only ways to fund a CampBX account with dollars will be Money orders or Checks sent through the mail.
3390  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: BTC based Stock Exchange Crackdown Starting? on: October 11, 2013, 01:25:44 PM
Yea good point.  Decentralization needs to be a prime concept in new projects.  A lot of people here want to put their head in the sand when working on projects, ignoring legal or regulatory analysis which lets them ignore the decentrality requirement, but a lot of this work will be done in vain as the state apparatus crushes their effort.
It's got to be done in the right order.

Everybody wants to start a business now, but currently if you want to build a decentralized business you have to build it from scratch since there are no tools to help you.

On the other hand what if someone started building, not a business, but a turnkey open source software platform for creating and operating arbitrary decentralized business? That would help things along, wouldn't it?

Nice
3392  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 2013-10-10: Dwolla to end Business with Virtual Currency Exchanges: Bye CampBX!! on: October 11, 2013, 12:48:53 AM
I guess it's only $2 to do an ACH on CampBX.
In which direction?
3393  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: BTC based Stock Exchange Crackdown Starting? on: October 11, 2013, 12:19:58 AM
Eventually all the Napster-style bitcoin business models will fail and be replaced by P2P Bittorrent-like replacements.
3394  Economy / Economics / Re: Vote for me in 2020 as US President and I'll proclaim bitcoin national currency on: October 11, 2013, 12:14:55 AM
Voting is immoral, like bidding in a slave auction.
3395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: History of United States Anti-Money Laundering Laws on: October 10, 2013, 09:32:30 PM
This might be coming
  • Money Laundering, Cryptocurrency and Financial Crimes Strategy Act (2016)
That would be awesome.

Do you know how much we'll get done by 2016 in terms of inventing systems that will make that law impossible to enforce in practise?
3396  Economy / Speculation / Re: Milestones on: October 10, 2013, 09:11:26 PM
In terms of the long term trend, I don't think the elevated prices on Mt Gox are that important so I'm going to keep using their price for this. What's ~10% when we're talking about tracing a movement that's expected to span 6 orders of magnitude?
3397  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 10, 2013, 06:14:41 PM
except that litecoins cannot be mined via asics by design.
That's what the Litecoin pumpers originally said about GPUs too, and look what happened.
3398  Economy / Speculation / Re: Milestones on: October 10, 2013, 04:33:53 PM
I started using Mt Gox, and I don't know if there's any reasonable way to switch to another data source without starting over from scratch.
3399  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: October 09, 2013, 10:36:06 PM
Perfect.

The last 30 day graph shows that Mt Gox is losing more relative market share to btcchina than Bitstamp.
3400  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: October 09, 2013, 08:09:15 PM

That's a great start. An area chart that showed how the fractions have changed over time would mean we could have meaningful conversations about trends.
