341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cheapest Rig Frame Built under $25 and 20 min. on: December 10, 2017, 12:31:43 AM
I use 36" laminated shelves from HomeDepot ($8) and then some 36" long 3/4" square dowels ($3 each)  to built 8x GPU rigs like this:

Yes, the rigs are all in my living quarters during the winter to provide all the heating I need.

But going forward, I'm going to be using mobo's meant for mining like these:

No more riser rigs for me!  Wink
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gaze in wonder the Nvidia Titan V has launched. (Volta) on: December 09, 2017, 06:37:39 PM
My best 1080Ti card does 754 Sol/S @ 3.72 Sol/W while consuming 208 Watts (Max power on that card is 330 Watts - MSI Sea Hawk EK)

If this new volta is twice as efficient at the same power level, is it conceivable that it would be able to do about 1,500 Sol/S @ 7.44 Sol/W?

If so, I'd gladly pay $1,500 for such a card, but not $3,000.   Smiley
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 09, 2017, 12:48:35 AM
Do not trust WTM anymore!!!

Seems pretty accurate to me.  Here's my VTC haul over the last 24 hours on MPH:

And the current value of VTC is:

19.7232 * $8.38 = $165.28

And here's what WTM shows with my cards:

I'd say that's pretty damn close...
344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Guide] How to Setup and Use smOS Simple Miner - Easiest Mining OS on: December 08, 2017, 05:01:20 PM
Hey Vosk,

How would you rate smOS compared to nvOC?

I'm up to 8 rigs now, all running nvOC and it can be a bit of a pain to manually tweak x8 1main and x8 3bash files.

Does smOS feature a central management console that it easier to manage a small farm?  What about rigs with mixed cards?  Can those be tweaked both individually and as a single group?

Thanks!

@leenoox

I tried what you suggested but unfortunately still see the same behavior as before.  Within 60 seconds, some GPU's goes to P0 and the miner restarts.

Try ASccminer,
I had problems with TP, SP, KT, KX, ...
Alexis ccminer gives much more hash rate, but it takes time to fully utilize all GPUs, you should raise sleep time in watchdog or you will get into restart miner loop.
On my 12 cards it takes over 2 minutes untill all cards get fully utilize

Also I think its better to lower watchdog threshold too, ccminers keep droping below 90 and it can cause restart miner too

Thanks.  I'll give Alexis ccminer a shot.  Btw, I'm running Stubo's modified watchdog script.

Is it the one with my dynamic sleep time?
If not raise it for AS

I switched all my rigs over to AS and they are now running stable! (once I lowered core clocks about 20 ticks from where they were).  Even the 1060 3GB is running now.  And I'm getting much better hashrates than with ccminer.  So win win for sure.

I don't think I'm running the watchdog with dynamic sleep time.  If any of the rigs fall over, I'll raise the sleep time a bit.

Thanks!

Before you ask, I have the following in 1main:

Code:
damNmad_ALGO_SPECIFIC_OC="NO"

POWERLIMIT_WATTS=200

__CORE_OVERCLOCK=120
MEMORY_OVERCLOCK=-1200

From what I understand of 1bash;

INDIVIDUAL_CLOCKS='YES'
overrides...
damNmad_ALGO_SPECIFIC_OC='YES'
overrides...
__CORE_OVERCLOCK=120

So make sure individual clocks is no

Yep, individual clocks are set to NO on these rigs since they contain identical GPUs.

Thanks for that Stubo.

So here's when the miner first starts.  P2 state is 2 as expected:

And after about a minute, the GPU's start going into P0 state and the core clock shoots up:

I have an odd issue that is impacting 2 of my 1080Ti rigs that are preventing them from mining lyra2v2 algo based coins (MONA and VTC).

What is happening is that after ccminer has been running for about 60 seconds, the core clocks rise to above 2,000.

So here is when ccminer first starts:

And here are the clocks at this point: (2nd to last column)

Then after about 60 seconds they change to:

And then ccminer falls over.

Both rigs that do this have 8x EVGA 1080Ti SC or SC2 cards.

My other 1080Ti rig has 4x MSI 1080Ti Sea Hawk EK's and 1x Zotac 1080Ti ArcticStorm (rig is watercooled), and it doesn't do this.  And neither do my 1050Ti, 1070 or 1070Ti based rigs.

Any idea what the hell is going on?  I know Stubo is having the same issue with his 1080Ti based rig (also EVGA GPUs).

Before you ask, I have the following in 1main:

Code:
damNmad_ALGO_SPECIFIC_OC="NO"

POWERLIMIT_WATTS=200

__CORE_OVERCLOCK=120
MEMORY_OVERCLOCK=-1200

Also, I have a rig based on 1060 3GB cards where ccminer falls over immediately when attempting to run lyra2v2 based coins.  Does ccminer need at least a 4GB card to work?

All my rigs are rock solid when running equihash with dstm.  This issue is only with ccminer and only with some of my rigs.

MPH now down for anybody?
Maybe too many new users flooding in.

Down for me. My current rigs are still mining, but if I close the miner and restart it, connection fails
Seeing the same thing here.  I pushed new configs to my miners, so if they fall over, they will come up on another pool (suprnova) where I already got some rigs running lyra2rev2 (MONA).  But the front end on that site is also glitchy atm.  What a wild ride!
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash hacked? on: December 06, 2017, 03:15:05 PM
Hope nicehash stays in maintenance for a long while.
Because for little miner guys like me, my mining profits has more than doubled.

See good in bad, I like.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash hacked? on: December 06, 2017, 02:55:28 PM
All my rigs stopped hashing at 3:37AM Eastern time.  It wasn't until well after 4:00AM the "maintenance banner" went up on their front page.  I got the rigs switched over to mph for now.

It has now been over 6 hours, so this is way past a normal maintenance window.  And yes, there have been reports on twitter and facebook about wallets being emptied out.  For example:

can I pay you to come help me setup some solar xD

Sure.  How much land do you have Vosk?  Open Southern Exposure?  You can pay me in 1070Ti's and S9's.  Smiley

@crazydane sorry i as in farm i meant my GPU farm lol, either I have a larger big property here in the city, with a huge back yard I was thinking of putting in two mining sheds with roofs
and them put solo panels on top of them and also solo panels on top of my house  and garage ,  looking at the size of those panels i could probbaly do 180 panels on the existing rooftops
and another 120 probbaly on mining sheds

how much wattage would i get out of 300 panels in the summer do you think ?

Your setup looks very nice and clean , impressive

So a couple of things.

For optimal performance, you want a Southern facing sloped roof with no trees or other obstructions that will cast a shadow on the panels.

A 60 cell panel like the ones I have are about 65" x 40".  I have 56 of them on my shop roof.  That building is 80' long by 36' deep so just under 3,000 sq. ft.  See pic below:

In order to accommodate 180 panels, you would need a building with a footprint of about 10,000 sq. ft. on a single level.  How large is your house?

To get another 120 on a mining shed roof, that "shed" would need to be at least twice as big as my shop building above.

300 panels @ 280W = 84,000W.  With my current 80 panel setup, I generate about 3,000 kWh a month in the summer.  With the additional 48 panels, which are at a better angle to the sun and 20W more efficient per panel compared to my current shop roof mounted panels, I should be able to get to around 5,600 kWh a month in the summer.

Here's a cool calculator to estimate production for your location:

Sources are coming out that NiceHash was indeed hacked and wallets are being emptied out.  I hope it is not true, but if you had a significant balance in your NiceHash wallet, be prepared for bad news.

I want to add solar too my my farm , is it hard to install the panels yourself ?

If you're a DIY'er it's not that bad.  I did a 56 panel roof system by myself and had a helper to assist with digging the holes for my 3 ground based arrays.  On the ground mount arrays, having a helper assist with getting the upper rows of panels in place is a must, unless you have equipment to lift them up.  On my 1st ground mount array, I was able to install the upper rows by myself using a front end loader to raise the panels and function as a work platform at the same time.

If you have a farm, I'm assuming you have a tractor with a FEL and possibly an auger attachment for drilling the holes?  I found the electrical work pretty easy, but if you're doing Net Metering with the POCO, you need to submit an application to them and also get a permit from the county and they will need to inspect your work.

359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 06, 2017, 10:43:13 AM
I'm a big solar proponent myself.  My rigs currently consume about 10,000 watts 24/7.  My current solar arrays help offset power consumption cost.  Here's a graph from Sunday when it was nice and sunny:

Of course this being close to the darkest part of the year here in the Northern hemisphere (I'm in Virginia), we don't have that many daylight hours compared to the summer months.  Too bad the sun doesn't shine 24/7!  Cheesy

I'm pretty close to bringing 2 additional solar arrays online.  Got all the panels installed Sunday along with all the micro-inverters.  Just need to pull wires for each of the 4 strings through the conduit in the ground back to the sub-panel and I'll be at 35 kW.

I had been mining for 2 months using MPH and just yesterday morning pointed all my rigs to NiceHash mining equihash.  All was well until 3:37 this morning when my phone started going crazy with messages from all my rigs that the miners were restarting.  Looking at the logs, none of them are able to connect to the NiceHash servers.  I try to log into the NiceHash dashboard, and get a message that the system is in "maintenance mode".

Time to switch back to MPH.

SERVER STATUS is all "green", yet I can't connect.

Europe - Amsterdam
USA - San Jose
China - Hong Kong
Japan - Tokyo
India - Chennai
Brazil - Sao Paulo

EDIT: Got all rigs switched back over to MPH and they are happily mining away ZEC again.

And now the main NiceHash page is showing:
