341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: at which point of a boxing match you consider cashingout? on: November 06, 2023, 07:03:40 PM
Hmmm this is an interesting question to ask. If I ever bet on an underdog and he knocked down his opponent in the first round, I'd probably risk it til the final bell rings coz if he dropped his opponent in the first round then he could do it in the following rounds. But one thing to consider is how did he knock his opponent, like a lucky punch, sucker punch but counted, accidental headbutt or just a counted slip then I'd probably think about cashing out after this. However, with Fury vs Ngannou fight I'm hundred percent on Ngannou on this, won't even think of cashing out if got dropped.
342  Local / Pilipinas / Re: bakit dapat mong maintindihan at wag matakot sa dip on: November 06, 2023, 06:20:52 PM

343  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Futures Trading - $10 per day on: November 06, 2023, 05:51:12 PM
I've been thinking about this lately kasi mukang possible talaga to and since nag tatrade ako sa futures naexperience ko na rin na magkaron ng target each day. The thing is kung hindi magiging constant yung earning, or pag minalas malas ka ng ilang araw maging negative pa yung earnings mo. Most probably parang magiging sugal to, especially with short time framed candles, kasi dun talaga to madalas nakukuha with high leverage. Mas risky nga lang to kasi medyo tight ang liquidation mo and a sudden pump or dump can cost you your margin. Advisable to isolate than cross trade din kung gusto mo itry.
344  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex suffered minor phishing attack on: November 06, 2023, 01:01:25 PM
I wonder why anyone would trade on Bitfinex still...
Probably non-affected users will still continue to use the platform, until they get affected by the attacks which is quite inevitable for an exchange that has a history of such event.

It's one of the exchanges with the worst reputation and historically have wronged so many people. At this point it wouldn't be too unlikely that it's just a frond for Tether and their unauthorized printing of fake USDT for money laundering.
Been reading some articles about this exchange, and news and it happened several times. I wonder how they are still getting new users of the platform, wouldn't this news should be enough to wake up their clients?
Let's see how they are going to manage this phishing attacks, and how would they compensate the affected users. I hope they would do a full-compensation plus some promo for disruption and inconvenience.
345  Economy / Economics / Re: New business idea. on: November 06, 2023, 11:44:24 AM
The fact that you didn't post it on your local board means you are gatekeeping this possible business, and you should have not because there might be some people in your country who want to join this venture with you.

Well for me, this is a good business to start as soon as possible since it is bullish, but I'm not sure how long would it still be in demand since your country is using many types of edible oil. I see your point here, you want to take advantage of growing demand of this graundnut oil which is good, but posting it here would be difficult to attract some investors. I mean you can try there is no problem with that and it's worth trying I believe.
346  Economy / Economics / Re: AI will put an end to work, says Elon Musk on: November 03, 2023, 06:55:02 PM
It is such a complex topic to talk about, it is indeed true that AI we can see the massive help of AI on every industry but we've got so much to learn about AI whether it could replace all of our work. Yes, AI does a great job in automating tasks and most of our jobs but there are some things that AI can't do especially with jobs that suggests or may need a very sharp decision making. We have seen AI enhancing what we created, thus giving us more ideas and creative innovation but I don't think that this is enough to conclude that it will end our working power. What I see in the future is a collaboration of humans and AI, unfortunately it is inevitably to affect the employment rate of one's country because human+AI is less work.
347  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tarot cards gamit pang predict ng market? on: November 03, 2023, 06:16:22 PM

Walang masama kung maniniwala tayo dito, ang masama e kung ginagawa mong sugal ang paginvest, though it is some kind of gambling somehow. Sabi nga ng mga matagal na sa trading, "We choose our faith in mathematical framework that is free of politics and human error", crypto is good choice talaga kahit ano pang lumabas dyan sa tarot cards haha.

348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you rather make your investments in FAIT or CRYPTO? on: November 03, 2023, 05:16:17 PM
The crypto market has an high level of volatility, anyone who is about to make an investment need to have a good understanding of the volatile market. Now the question is even with the volatility will you still choose crypto over fiat when it comes to making investments?
I think that's pretty much it, people like many of us will choose to invest in crypto because of its volatility. Because we know that we could maximize our gains with swings of the market and from the season of the market unlike stocks or any tangible investments that needs a lot of time to appreciate its value. Bitcoin could actually soar up to $100,000 if someone, a billionaire, named Elon Musk calls long to bitcoin. Just a simple news could actually make some crypto investors a millionaire, and they, I mean we love that volatility.
349  Economy / Economics / Re: Isn't Fiat the Real Ponzi on: October 31, 2023, 08:09:48 PM
a ponzi scheme is built on promises with no strong revenue,,
Ponzi scheme comes with strong revenue at first then collapses after some time.

but fiat money are regulated by banks with actual revenue like investments and projects in short banks always have a way to pay current holders even with no new deposits that is just not the same with a ponzi scheme that will collapse once there is no new investors
You cannot compare money and ponzi scheme basically, because money is a centralized currency within any country unlike ponzi which is a scheme or a method of getting revenue from new investors, technically a fraud. Fiat is governed, you cannot magically changes its value and ponzi is an ultimate magic of quick rich and quick burn.

If fiat is ponzi, so then the crypto which is powered by fiat as well.

350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 31, 2023, 07:45:33 PM
Philadelphia 76ers traded James Harden to the Clippers.
The league is going to mess up badly with this team. Jarden, Westbrook, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are a very good squad, I hope they can be champions.
You forgot to mention John Wall. I don't really see the Clippers winning a championship, even though they have James Harden now, because they lack solid defense and a reliable center. Maybe they can also sign Dwight Howard since he is available right now (If possible why not). Let's see what happens this season as James Harden and Westbrook were teammates before on the Rockets and OKC. Hopefully, there will be a different outcome. A championship? 😮‍💨

The Clippers will still win nothing this season.
Every single player is past their prime, even PG13 and KL in my opinion. All these injuries and so on took a toll on them.
Worth mentioning their prime had passed already, these legends won't be effective on winning the championship if not playing on their prime, we know how good rookies this year are. And to be honest, I don't think James Harden does not fit that good to the Clippers since they already have PG13 who's outside shooting is still great. They got WB and Kawhi on perimeters as well. Who's gonna take that last winning shot? Definitely not Westbrook, please don't.

On paper they have good names but I don't see them as a good team still.
For young NBA fans, this is actually the best roster, but for us who watched enough NBA, this isn't great as it sounds.
351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Simple Reason Why Bitcoin is not Money on: October 30, 2023, 05:57:52 PM
to correct the OP

currency is anything used as a medium of exchange
That's not correct!

Currency is not ANYTHING used as a medium of exchange, you can use many things as a medium of exchange which I'm sure is obvious around you. You can purchase your shoe and other products and properties with gold or other products and properties, which makes your definition faulty.
By the definition, currency is standardization of money in any form; and money is any item or record that is generally accepted as payment. Therefore currency could be anything you can use as a medium of exchange, if both end agreed to pay/exchange a cow for a chicken then it is a currency. I think this is a general misconception about the currency and money, I even confused these two at first honestly.

Currency is rather a LEGAL TENDER (fiat) note and others backed by the central bank of a country.
You are talking about country currency, well this one is regulated by the country's government to host and have an organize exchange and standardization. I can buy your car for my laptop as my currency, if you want to. Basically that's how currency works.
352  Economy / Economics / Re: choose an option on: October 30, 2023, 05:30:09 PM
I'm seeing people choosing B, and I think that's the rational and conservative answer. Let's say there are no tax after $480k, getting a lumpsum would give you infinite option for it to invest, whether on cryptocurrencies, business, property, etc. I'll select the option B as well as you can diversify it to maximize the potential gains. I think the worst option in the choices is the D, because I see the house as an asset and liability at the same time, Yes you can sell the house making a profit from it but if you are planning to live in $480K dollar house/mansion get ready to spend $100k for its maintenance.

Did you win $480K somewhere else?  Grin
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 30, 2023, 05:01:38 PM
I watched the fight and I have to say that refs ruined good event with that split decision win.
Francis Ngannou was amazing in his first pro boxing fight and he even knocked down Fury, so I dont see how Fury won this fight with busted face and average performance.
Fury didnt expect such a good performance from Ngannou, and maybe he was thinking more about his next boxing fight against Usyk.
Ngannou maybe lost on paper but he won for people, and I know poor Dana White was sad about his great performance  Grin
Many people argue that decisions are corrupted and decisions are bought to win over booked fighters, I already have a bad feeling that if Ngannou doesn't get the knockout then he has a small chance of winning via the referee's decision announcement, my hunch has been confirmed in the winner announcement session and they no matter the response of the audience who disagree with that decision.

Ngannou the winner is more deserving of that fight even though they are not taking sides for him, we are also the referees who judge the points from the far side and we also have the right to declare the real winner of the fight
Well for me people's winner is Ngannou because he dropped Fury despite of having no puro boxing experience at all, that's a big win for him BUT for the judges, it's a win round for Ngannou and that's only fair. IMO, the knockout wasn't the game decision for the judges, and take note that in boxing the judges only matters, and for them it's Fury who won that fight. I'm not a pro, just an audience, there are some technical scoring in boxing where judges are paid to point, I think that's where Ngannou lacked of, remember it's a split decision either of them could have won.

But if I were to judge it could have been a draw.
354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 30, 2023, 04:30:21 PM
It's probably because that winner knows his friends real well that if the winner isn't avoiding them then that person will inevitably lose the money real fast because either they will ask for a treat from the wins or they would ask him to shoulder their incoming bets or would influence him to bet those wins hoping to strike the iron while it's hot. I don't know the whole story though, it could be that my guess is somewhat right or in the ballpark or that winner isn't really their friend and that amount of money just showed what he really is when it comes to his friends.

Yeah, Most of the time friends will do ask a lot of favor whenever they knew that some of their friend have a lot of money. Although avoiding friends is kinda cruel just because you win especially if you are regularly hanging out with them before you win. Treating them a few beers is not bad to celebrate and he can always decline to any favor such as borrowing money instead of avoiding them since money can be loss but friends stay forever.
Hmm. That's not friends if that's the case, but if the favor is somehow option-less for your friend like they need money for an emergency, I guess it's valid. But avoiding friends is quite harsh and obvious. You can get along with them without saying or bragging your winnings on casino or gambling, you've got your privacy.

I’m not really sure if avoiding is the right choice no matter what kind of friend he has. Maybe just try to communicate first and see how it goes before he decde whether to avoid them or not.
I guess it's really depend on what personality the friend has, or define what is a friend for you first. But avoiding your close friends or even best friend after winning in gambling or just have money in general is quite hard for me, it's like judging and mistrusting them somehow.
355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The International 12 [Dota 2, eSport] discussion thread on: October 29, 2023, 07:01:45 PM
Final day is HERE!!!

Gamin Gladiators vs LGD is ongoing. Who are your TI champions?
Kind of misled about your comment here, Gladiator vs LGD is just the finals for the lower bracket. Whoever wins in the lower bracket will meet the TS in the grand finals of the tournament.

Currently watching the game of GG vs LGD, game 1 was a very close game but LGD kind of outdrafted with only Luna dealing descent damage from the chinese team, however they've got a chance to comeback but GG killed Luna without a buyback. Now on game 2, feels like it's a one sided game against LGD, their heroes are more of late game, unlike the GG that can be gods in early and late. I'm rooting for GG vs TS in the grand finals.

Who's your pick, TS or GG?  Grin
356  Economy / Economics / Re: Almost All Countries Affected by Inflation, Opportunity for Bitcoin! on: October 29, 2023, 06:30:44 PM

Investing in crypto in general is high risk, and Bitcoin is not much different (it is safer, but still high risk), so I wouldn't recommend to do it as a way to make sure money. But with such high interest rates, the alternative of doing nothing is proven to be much riskier.
We all know here that Bitcoin price volatility is wild. High risk = High reward. However, if you look back 10 years, Bitcoin was able to provide a large return on investment and could save inflation for some people who owned it.

We don't have to go so far in time: even nowadays, with the wild inflation some countries are suffering (can we call it hyperinflation yet? I hope we don't have to anytime soon), any asset different from fiat is safer than traditional savings. Of course, traditional investments like real estate, precious metals (until scientists don't invent a way to create cheap gold, which seems to be impossible) or bonds are much less riskier than cryptocurrencies, but in a few countries the national currency is performing worse than many shitcoins, and investing in Bitcoin would be a very reasonable, yet conservative choice.
Quite agree with what the OP has said, bitcoin was able to provide a large return on investment 10 years ago, but how about those people who lose their money with bitcoin? I don't think that would save them from the inflation anymore.

Fascinated how scientists get to make cheaper gold, I mean logically it is useless because there are secondary metals like silver that also have a huge market value. In fact, some economists are calling the silver the next top asset of the future because gold is somehow losing its numbers in terms of market circulation, so probably the next thing that people will look for to buy out is silver. With the current market condition, or should I say global condition, investing in crypto is much better than keeping your fiat.
357  Economy / Economics / Re: War and property mortgage you still need to pay If war destroy your Property on: October 29, 2023, 06:02:16 PM

Are you already expecting the war with Russia or Israel to bomb your house?
This isn't the case, the OP didn't stated this on his post, he's probably curious on what will happen to property owners, house owners on conflicted areas.

I was planning this myself to only hold crypto and just live in a van until everything settled.  But this will be possible if I have no family of your own.
For me, living in a van is a dream, coz I only think of the bright side of it like getting to places with your van but after thinking some possibilities of problems along the way, I stopped thinking about it ha!

But why give the property to the bank? You can always just make them repossess your property or continue to pay them until it becomes ruins when bombed especially if you live in the conflict region.
Because banks doesn't care if the property is near or within the high conflicted areas, they will sell it even the lowest possible profit or just make even for that property. I'm not sure if property owners have any rights to ask for bank's compensation or provide any insurance for the property. I guess that's the best option they could give when selling it in the first place.
358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin adoption in coming years, merchants will be left behind on: October 29, 2023, 05:14:51 PM
Well, it's understandable that merchants are concerned about Bitcoin's volatility and prefer fiat because of its (real or perceived) stability.
Yeah, considering that bitcoin or any decentralized cryptocurrency is volatile gives merchants hesitation whether to give it a shot or adopt it. The traditional mode of payment is vastly used, and so adopting should not be their priority, but can be their alternative. Totally understandable for business owners, besides not everyone can own cryptocurrencies to pay, the economic of crypto wasn't designed for this.

Another reason might be that of practicality of legally doing business: if it's fiat in and fiat out on your part, and the crypto part is handled by someone else, you don't need to worry about how to declare income from purchases in cryptos, whether any additional taxes (capital gains, for example) need to be paid, etc.
In addition to that, government hasn't been so friendly to crypto so adopting it might be a very hard challenge for pro-crypto business owners to establish with their government, perhaps it's a crypto friendly country like El Salvador.

I'm still not sure how people who legally accept Bitcoin payments deal with the tax side of it, and whether it's worth it.
Can't think of a way to tax, might be misunderstood by the taxation as for of evasion.
359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anti-Gambling Tools on: October 29, 2023, 04:42:41 PM
You can destroy or sell all of your phone, PC or any device that can be used to connect internet, this will make you have no way to access online casino.

I believe my suggestion will 100% work.
Man how could it not work if you tell the OP to destroy all his gadgets lol

I think the OP is looking for some online tools or any strategy to control his habit which he considered a bad habit. This is definitely an issue of his discipline, he lacks the discipline to manage himself, not only with gambling but with all the activity he is missing instead of sitting and gambling. I'd like to suggest of doing more stuff outside, get the fun to other things such as sports. I myself managed to get out of the mud coz I'm losing than winning. Outdoor activities may help you spend your time not to think of gambling, and after you go home you'll just be thinking to eat and sleep.

360  Economy / Economics / Re: why super rich pay no tax but suggest giving all their wealth away (eventually) on: October 28, 2023, 07:40:19 PM
Oh yeah, I've watched videos about this scheme with investing money and then taking loans to avoid paying taxes. To be honest, I think it's a practice that should be condemned if not somehow made illegal because being rich and doing things like avoiding giving your fair share back to your country is disgusting behaviour.
I don't think they should be condemned for doing so, I do believe they are using the system against the one who made the system. We know for a fact that being rich is paying a huge amount of taxes, therefore they are trying to avoid it by using some legal ways just like what the OP indicated from his post. Taking a loan to invest is not taxable, that's true, this is why most of rich or wealthy people spend like crazy using credits giving collaterals from their assets, and it is because the interest rate is much smaller than the tax they need to pay when they spend money from their gains.

So, because of that, I have mixed feelings about an idea of doing the same thing to avoid paying taxes with Bitcoin, although I'm sure some people will appreciate the idea, and, in general, it's a pretty good idea for the US (because taxes work differently in different countries).
Totally different with bitcoin, because of decentralization government failed to tax people who makes profit for it.
