341  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: MacOS X LevelDB Corruption Bounty (10.00 BTC + 200.2 LTC) on: December 05, 2013, 11:55:52 AM
I'm joining the conversation as one that has tried both Bitcoin-OMG9 and MacTest1. Both crash right away with a database corruption error.

MacBook Pro 10,1 running OSX 10.8.5 if that matters.

After I re-index the data base BitCoin-Qt will allow me to close and reopen the app over and over again UNTIL I power the computer down. After that I have ot re-index.

None of the new builds can fix a database corrupted from an earlier version.

Try running:

Code:
/Applications/Bitcoin-Qt.app/Contents/MacOS/Bitcoin-Qt -dbcache=1000 -reindex

one time to reindex with the Bitcoin-OMG9 binary and let us know how it works out for you.  I'm running on a similar setup to you and mactest1 did cause corruption for me but the recent OMG7-8-9 builds are running good for me now...so far.

Thanks, I will try that when I get this computer to its power adapter.

Odd thing is that I installed OMG9 on my iMac (which has never had Bitcoin-QT installed on it) and it cried about the database corruption too.  Huh
342  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How long have you been mining & what is your current hash rate? (+ bonus Q's) on: December 05, 2013, 02:33:04 AM
Is there a source that reports the average hash rate per miner? Seems like a lot of big dogs hang on this forum, curious what the avg is...

I assume your saying per miner as in "user" and not hardware.

That would be an interesting bit of information.

These things rock!

+1.

Mine have been running great since I got them connected to a PC that wants to behave!
344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin-Qt / bitcoind version 0.8.5 released on: December 05, 2013, 01:37:38 AM
bitcoin-qt 0.8.5 on my mac book pro crashes EVERYTIME I open it. I have to rebuild the data base whenever I want to use the program.

I've tried the "checklevel=2" fix and it doesnt work.

rebuilding the DB takes several hours and the computer runs REALLY hot while its doing it.
Try using one of the test builds that have been made in an attempt to fix this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=337294.msg3718821#msg3718821

Tried them, both crash with the same corrupt database error. I cant re-index right now because I dont have my power adapter. I'll do it tomorrow and retry

Posted my results into that thread. Thanks for the pointer!

Close to a year from what I could tell.  Cry

Can I reserve 40 shares or is that being greedy?
349  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How do you disconnect the monitor from the rig? on: December 04, 2013, 04:13:30 AM
Great =)
I'm already mining with a 7970 using cgminer, I installed a second 7970 today and it got recognized ok by CPUZ and Afterburner, but I can't get guiminer to recognize it, also I don't know how to make work the two cards with cgminer. I know it's pretty basic, but I'm kinda stuck here.
Any help would be really appreciated!

FWIW, I had to put dummy plugs on the 7970's and R9 290's I bought. cgminer didnt see them otherwise.
350  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How often do you restart the computer your mining on? on: December 04, 2013, 04:11:35 AM
only when I have to move them or want to add more hardware to them (USB expansion cards).
351  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How long have you been mining & what is your current hash rate? (+ bonus Q's) on: December 04, 2013, 04:08:16 AM
started in 8/2011 with two 6850's (I think). Left them alone for a little more then 2 years until one of them started making nasty fan noise. Connected a monitor to it only to find that it had BSOD'd A LONG TIME AGO (according to btcguild).

That was maybe 650Mh's... I've since upgraded to a little over a TH's.

#1. probably make a daemon or startup script for it.
#2. SSH =)

LOL! I have no idea as to what either of those are nor how to create them. Smiley

I'll figure it out.
353  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Help with 3 Module Avalon Miner Batch 2 on: December 02, 2013, 02:13:18 AM
can you get into its web interface? You may just need to update its firmware to get it working again.

What are you trying to mine?
355  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 200 gh/s "Sunzi Miner"(Rack Mount)- 6.9 BTC - (Sold Out) on: December 02, 2013, 12:48:50 AM
Very nice setup, time to move to Linux!

Yeah, working on it. I need to figure out two things...

#1. How to make BFGMiner start at bootup on its own.
#2. Install VNC or some other remote control software so I can get into it from another computer.

I already have the linux (Ubuntu) machine up and running. Just need to figure out those two things above and I'm all set.

And wouldn't you know it Windows installed new updates this morning (3AM) and the computer was hung in a reset loop. Stupid machine.
356  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 200 gh/s "Sunzi Miner"(Rack Mount)- 6.9 BTC - (Sold Out) on: December 01, 2013, 03:26:59 AM
Had a chance to put the two Sunzi's I bought into the retired sound rack that I plan on using....

I know that BE's aren't worth a hill o' beans these days but I figure any more hash power the better. What else would I do with em? eBay? LOL!

Getting close to 450gh's with this rig.... Too bad that WinBox gets pissed if it has to reset. WTH???

357  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: What are the usb block erupters worth? on: November 30, 2013, 04:03:55 AM
I was buying them for $7-$8 a few months back. eBay's current prices are out of control. Here you would be lucky to get anything for them but on eBay you could probably sell them for a good price.
358  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Thinking about installing Linux on: November 29, 2013, 11:32:12 PM
I just wanted to try an alternative OS.

So far so good although I cant see to get the correct drivers installed for the AMD R9 270. BFG found the 6 chili's, 1 K16 and 30 or so BE's without a hitch. Its been mining for about 4 hours without one zombie (had lots of zombies on my win7 rig).

I just need to play around with the OS more to get used to it.
359  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Thinking about installing Linux on: November 29, 2013, 01:47:56 AM
That I wouldn't know. I only use Ubuntu and its close relatives, Debian and Backtrack.

I'll stick with Ubantu then. Thanks again for the reply.
360  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Thinking about installing Linux on: November 29, 2013, 12:39:24 AM
Are all flavors of Linux the same in resect to the fans and whatnot? Would there be a build other than Ubantu that would be a better choice? I've seen screenshots and YouTube vids of people running cg and bfgminer mining with ASIC's, FPGA's and video cards so I dont think finding drivers is going to be too hard.

Thanks for the help. Looking forward to trying a new OS.
