I don’t see why they wouldn’t add value. Personally I simply see forks as dividends. I also would only value these forks as to whatever their exact value is at time of sale.
This is right but the problem and risk of buying some physical coin like Casascius is when the holder bought it by the time fork value is too high just like what happened when BCH was around 0.1 to 0.2 BTC. We all know that that the value of all physical coins that time adjust based on the fork value. So there is a big loss from them especially if they want to sell it now because BCH price heavily dump. I’d dare say a lot of collectors don’t take the fork amounts too seriously unless they intend to peel and redeem a high value/rare collectible instead of actually collecting and holding. Don’t get me wrong, they definitely add value - if your plan is to peel them for the small amount of forked value over keeping intact a piece of history in some cases. The flip side is, what if all the forks are worth nothing 5 years from now or sooner - is the coin less valuable? I’d say if you are in the market for a nice pre fork coin like a Casascius (as that seems to be the focus coin here) - you most likely aren’t looking to peel it on arrival for the few $$ you’d get. Thanks!

The proposal for btc abc is not popular at all. Lots of people think its fork will fail because most of Bitcoin Cash users will use it. Nearly 82% of miners use the BCHN full node software. It tells me that they don support the ABC fork. There are also lots of other internal issues.
Since I do not have CAS loaded coin I do not know how it is affecting now due to the fork. Without the private key you do not know whether you truely have the access to bcc by undeeming one. No matter what it has the numismatic value.
You write those little notes inside fortune cookies? If not I think you’ve missed your calling. Additionally I believe the OP was addressing all pre-fork coins not just Casascius. Also, what other collectibles are holding 'pre-fork' BTC? Thanks !

I haven't seen any discussion about this, so here we are. As this latest major fork is upon us, I have to wonder if this will be a good thing for 'pre-fork' BTC such as that sitting at Casascius Coin addresses. Do you think this fork will unlock additional value to Bitcoin Cash, or will it simply splinter it's value? Will this trend continue forever, making items like Casascius Coins more valuable as they receive additional forked coins similar to dividends from these forks, or will the forks be ignored as not having much value? https://decrypt.co/48240/bitcoin-cash-to-undergo-hard-fork-tomorrow-heres-how-to-prepareAlso, what other collectibles are holding 'pre-fork' BTC? Any loaded BTC BTC collectables as of August 1, 2017 when the first fork occurred, some of which were listed above by Chi You can add a lot of makers from this thread created by minerjones ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=346731) as well, under: " MAKERS WITH PUBLIC ADDRESS LIST OR REFERENCE THREAD" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2022902.0Thanks!

Considering it didn't fill up and I want to give something away, here is what I've decided... I am going to allow for 2 blocks to choose a potential winner. If no winner is chosen after 2 blocks (empty spots are winners) then we will have to see what sort of drama occurs. Personally, I would like to donate the coin if that is the case. Perhaps to a waitress as a tip, a church donation, or leaving for a stranger to find. I'd love to hear opinions from the participants on what they'd like to see done in the case that nobody wins after 2 blocks. The first block that will decide is 655455. If no winner is chosen, block 655469 will be the next block to choose. If no winner is chosen again, participants should make their opinion known about what I should do with the coin and perhaps the next time I do one of these raffles we'll get more participation. I hope that this attempt to give away free silver brings some drama, so fire your best shot trolls! Lets keep this 2020 election dumpster fire atmosphere alive! Right, my question yesterday was “still open” - to submit an entry - but I guess that is not the case 😎

That's a design flaw that you may want to fix the next go around. Genuine silver coins usually have it on them. Since we all know and trust Wheelz it's not a problem in here, could be an inconvenience at resale time though. Just sayin'. Still, great design I noticed this as well but didn’t pipe up as I wasn’t bidding. This is a valid criticism/point. Silver coins should note purity and when they are from less well known such as non-gov minted coins it’s very important in resale. I’ve traded a lot of silver coins in my day and the first thing buyers want to see from coins they are unfamiliar with is purity and weight listed on the coin and coa. These do have a beautiful design btw. LitLitBit Design flaw? That is your opinion... I could stamp that on anything.. doesn't mean it's real silver. I wouldn't take anyone's word for it anyways.. that's why you would use a metal tester. Same thing goes with weight... just put it on a scale... And why would I trust the government and their coins versus any other maker? Seems like some blind trust. I don’t make the rules I’m just sharing my experience with buying and selling non-gov coins. When your buying American Silver Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs, South African Kruggerands it’s just the modus operandi. Now when an unknown mint mints they should follow those same guidelines because when your selling them without it buyers will shy away. I have gotten way less premium time and time again in selling silver coins without it. “Don’t Trust. Verify.” If you are going to sell a coin of any value you need to check it is in fact real, correct? A stamp does not mean its real by any means even from a mint - test the metal or buy from a trusted source. I've tested coins and bars that were supposed to be pure .999 silver and were far from pure, from a trusted mint. If it makes you feel more comfortable you can pick up a .999 stamp on eBay for $5, it still doesnt make it real... is it not possible the designer did not want .999 stamped on the coin? How many .999 stamped coins are fake? Just browse eBay to see this in action. The stamp does not verify anything. Thanks!
