341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Claims Quantum Supremacy on: September 23, 2019, 02:39:50 PM
Well, our reps had a chance to talk with people from IBM's quantum computing department  - they claimed that this technology is just starting, and he does not see quantum computers being able to threat current encryption of BTC in next several years.
When asked what about more or less 15 years time perspective - they smiled suspiciously.

Therefore, we still have several years of relative safety which can be spent on some sort of quantum encryption.
342  Local / Polski / Re: [Konkurs] Wytypuj cenę BTC na koniec III kwartału 2019 on: September 23, 2019, 02:27:59 PM
Rekordowy hashrate, trudność w kopaniu wzrasta bardziej niż odsetki w providencie, halving się zbliża - a tutaj BTC poniżej $9900.  Huh Huh Huh
343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hash rate at all-time highs again on: September 23, 2019, 02:23:36 PM
As well it could be so, that miners are certain about a huge bull run before BTC halving in May. Therefore hoarding it now and HODLing it for a couple of months would be a reasonable thing to do.
344  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial crisis 2.0 - What will happen to bitcoin in the next crisis? on: September 19, 2019, 10:50:20 AM
What is this, the 10th thread this year?

Seems like everyone and their grandmother is expecting a financial crisis/recession to hit soon.

I wonder what will happen to bitcoin and the crypto market if there will be a financial crisis in the world (2008 style)

There will be blood in the streets. Gold wasn't immune in 2008, you think BTC will be?! Cheesy

This is because after WW2 each stock market/financial crisis is initiated in the USA once in every 8-10 years. And 2008 was 11 years ago already.
345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saudi Oil and how the recent attack may affect Bitcoin on: September 18, 2019, 01:29:02 PM

this recent drama is only going to have its major effects on oil (and consequently the related products) prices. bitcoin will remain on its own path, ...like always.

Unless the case will burst a huge scale military conflict triggering the financial crisis and panic on stocks.
346  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial crisis 2.0 - What will happen to bitcoin in the next crisis? on: September 18, 2019, 01:12:49 PM

This will be a final test for BTC. So far, with failing economies of Venezuela and Argentina, the demand for BTC is rising. Both when speaking of BTC as a store of value (safe haven when stocks are crumbling) or a method of payment.

Anyway, if the new crisis will hit banks, we will see (as we had seen in Greece and Cyprus during the last one) daily withdrawal limit at a level so low, that trying to save your money by buying BTC may become impossible.

As well in case of some countries, you might be forced to pay "wallet tax", which is way easier to impose if there is KYC (something similar took place on bank accounts in Cyprus several years ago).
347  Local / Polski / Re: [SONDA] ✅ WYBORY PARLAMENTARNE 2019 ✅ on: September 17, 2019, 10:47:13 AM

Fejsbuk, pudelek...
348  Local / Polski / Re: [SONDA] ✅ WYBORY PARLAMENTARNE 2019 ✅ on: September 16, 2019, 06:00:33 PM

349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are we really investing in bitcoin? on: September 16, 2019, 05:38:53 PM
1. Time
2. Money
3. Believes.

But as well, if we speak of Bitcoin as digital gold, we would like to remind all users one thing gold and BTC have in common.

Few hundreds of years ago, years before banknotes were introduced, the gold had its "common" value. So then no matter if you had a golden coin from England, Spain or Germany, you could use it for payment ANYWHERE. Because gold was common and regarded as something having real value in the whole civilised world, independent from decisions of monarchs, politicians or banks.

This is one of the main ideas behind Bitcoin.

[...]
We are in a bull run this year, so this was kind of expected. But it is a good indictor indeed.
[...]

Are we? I think we're still far from bull run. Yes, price of Bitcoin has risen but, still market is in pain yet.

Would not be so sure. BTC halving in May 2020 is a major bullish factor, and it looks like miners are aware of it, and preparing in advance (so then there will be no such mining rig frenzy like in 2017).

The question is whether halving will exhaust bulls and end bull market for 2020, or not.
351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statistics: Geez, I thought there were more females in bitcoin community on: September 16, 2019, 11:23:59 AM
In general investing is risky thing - and cryptocurrencies as such are more risky.

So far taking a risk was more common among males (a behaviour inherited since hunter-gatherer era of mankind), but it seems that as time goes by, more females are willing to take the risk.
352  Local / Alternatywne kryptowaluty / Pierwsze skutki FATF on: September 16, 2019, 11:14:01 AM

W dodatku stawia to znane i popularne krypto rozwijające swoje tryby prywatności (jak Litecoin, a nawet Bitcoin) w sytuacji zmuszającej do rezygnacji z nowej funkcjonalności.

353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Promoting BTC via art on: September 13, 2019, 10:08:38 AM
nice . thanks to this guy because he help btc to be discoverable in his own little ways  .  the amount of btc that he already accumulated are pretty big and he only started on the year 2017 were the prices of btc are too expensive , thats too impressive  . his arts must be really good enough to sell that high  .

recently i see someone offering his services like this one , he posted it on the service section but alot of users only bash him.  why dont we give him a chance? what if someday he can become the guy that is featured on this thread. .

To be honest he really is famous, especially for the series of portraits of celebrities (and even Queen Elisabeth herself), which had been REALLY popular.
354  Economy / Economics / Re: Negative interest Rates around the World - Bitcoin as an alternative on: September 13, 2019, 09:23:41 AM
Inflation is now the most discussed topic in recent years. That is also the reason nakatomo satoshi creates Bitcoin with a large ecosystem like today.
And in the future, if inflation were to increase, people would definitely need bitcoin because every year, its value would increase dramatically due to the increasing demand for purchases over time.

Both this and the fact that BTC was created right after the last global economic crisis. As a reminder - in some countries during that crisis in order for the state to survive all the bank savings accounts had been subject to taxation (see Cyprus, where there had been imposed daily withdrawal limit from your bank account and payment cards).
This is the supposed advantage of BTC - if you keep it at cold/hardware wallet it is pretty hard if not impossible to automatically deduct the tax fee or payment limits.
355  Local / Polski / Re: Binance - wstrzymany handel on: September 13, 2019, 09:14:21 AM

356  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New FATF guidelines require professional crypto consultation on: September 13, 2019, 09:03:28 AM

That would be ideal, yes, but if things like the travel rule become entrenched and enforced in the ecosystem, decentralized alternatives will never grow if people can't feasibly use their bitcoins, either because they can't spend them outside of DNMs or because they can't sell them, or because can't sell them for as much as they trade on most exchanges.

There is another issue related, as FATF is aiming in making the crypto environment as close to the banking system as possible.
We can check the history of each wallet or block number. Imagine you became an owner of the part of the block which had been related at some point in some sort of illegal activity. In the eyes of some officials, it would make you somehow involved in an investigation related to the money laundering and your wallet can be frozen (depending on the local legislation) for months if not years. Not to mention that in some jurisdictions it can be even enough for arresting you. Even if you just eg. accepted payment in BTC for your used mobile.
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Promoting BTC via art on: September 13, 2019, 08:41:06 AM

Lincoln Townley, one of the leading British contemporary art figures (called "the new Andy Warhol"), just sold a collection of paintings for 490 BTC. He is accepting Bitcoin for his works since 2017, when he sold a painting for an equivalent of ca. $500 k.
To be honest, this is a great way of promoting BTC to the public.

And if anyone asked - in the picture here: https://imgur.com/dd0giBl you can see some of his paintings combined;).

It would be a great idea if a marketplace would exist where art can be bought with bitcoin.
People are very interested in art and it is a great way of promoting our decentralized idea. Townley was very clever to accept Bitcoins for his work and it was totally worth it considering to the amount he received.

And it has to be stressed, that the fact he is already well known is having much more potential influence on public adoption of BTC than the "regular" person. Of course the amount only makes it more catchy to the mass media.
358  Local / Polski / Re: Binance - wstrzymany handel on: September 11, 2019, 05:05:30 PM
Zamrożenie pozycji w dosyć szemrany sposób i w efekcie:

360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and recession on: September 11, 2019, 03:06:06 PM
For now we know, that in countries live Venezuela and Argentina many people prefer BTC than own currency or stocks because of the terrible recessions (or even total economic crisis).
This may suggest that in case of a stock market crash there is a high chance that there will be a shift from stocks to BTC, as a store of value. And regulating cryptos could be one of the main reasons to persuade them.

Still, we should be aware of one thing - BTC came into life AFTER the last global economic crisis took place. Our, Linkkoin's bet would be all for BTC.
