Little difference, Bitcoin can copy everything Darkcoin does if it's really worth it, unless they keep it closed source (and no one will care about using a closed source app).
Bitcoin can't copy Monero.
So Bitcoin first, Monero second for anonymous shit.

No, they won't copy it. Maybe they will when/if Darkcoin has 2x the marketcap bitcoin has, but not before. And by then, who cares?  +1 I don't see them take that risk, too much to lose now, but if Darkcoin takes the lead that's an other story, but then it will be too late. |

I am sick and tired of 2 new scam coins releasing every day.
This is how Btc felt about Ltc and the altcoin universe. Arguably, it did not affect Btc negatively. Its basically free advertisement I know if I saw that I'd go find out what darksend is and then buy some darkcoins At this point it's a parasite, the name is way too close. |

IMO, massive LTC -> DRK after RC4.
DRK is already better than LTC, why do you think post RC4 will be the inrush? No more limitation (> 10 DRK). Improvement of DarkSend : DarkSend + Code reviewed. etc. Most people tend to wait for the release to buy (more expensive) meanwhile the richest do their move now. |

Nice wallet.  If I may, can't we suggest to put all market information on another tab separately from the main information tab? I personally think it doesn't not give the right message to tie up DRK in such obvious and visible manner to USD (or BTC). It should demoted as 2nd tier information in a specific tab. But this is just my opinion Edit: plus it is overwhelming for a peon to see so many numbers and figures on the front page Yes it should be keep as simple as possible. Maybe there could be an option to show it on the main tab, with it disabled by default? +1 and the value of wallet in other currencies (Euro ...). Also, the term "wallet liquid value" bothers me, it can imply that DRK is not liquid. |

Darkcoin suffers from a bad methodology to achieve anonymity and it's put everything into this one basket.
Sorry to hear you lost faith in the project. Also, sorry you're going to be getting out at a horrible time (right before I announce I have EVERYTHING figured out to make Darkcoin mainstream?). Over the past couple of days, I've made huge leaps in the Darksend technology. In fact, RC4 will be the final solution to Darkcoin's anonymity. The client will automatically look at all of your funds and it will be able to tell which funds are not anonymized, if it finds non-anonymous outputs it will run them through a darksend with other clients. After that process, users can send without Darksend using the anonymous outputs for instant transactions without waiting for other nodes (with no upper limit on transaction sizes). The other thing you're missing is that there is a reason I forked Bitcoin. Adoption for Darkcoin will be MUCH faster and easier for vendors, because all of the APIs are the same. I can't answer that specific question because PoSA hasn't been released to the public yet. Feel free to browse the white paper though. From the whitepaper: "As part of the stake mining process, the elected node will process the special transaction package from its memory pool. The anonymization system is a two-pass process flow. If the elected node is processing Phase 1, it will solve the block and the output will be assigned to an internal address at the node. The node will earn a fee for this service, and then redeem the input by recursing back to the election process, to elect a node for Phase 2. The node then constructs an anonymizing transaction package and broadcasts it to the elected Phase 2 node. Again in the Phase 2 pass the originator and recipient are not recorded, instead the transaction occurs between the Phase 1 and Phase 2 nodes." This is my interpretation: "As part of the stake mining process, the elected node will process all the transactions that have been sent to it, which are stored in memory (duh). The system uses two passes through two separate nodes. If the elected node is processing Phase 1, it will solve the block and something will be given to the node." Here I get extremely confused. What is being returned to the node? Since coins are not being destroyed, it appears that it is just staking rewards. This is what it appears to say next: "This money that is given to the node, on an address in only its control, this is more or less the user's funds. The node is then given a reward for it's service (from somewhere). The user's funds are then sent to another node which does the process again." Sounds trusted to me. I mean it's pretty much the same way DarkCoin uses MasterNodes right? Except Cloak uses staking wallets instead? Not at all. Check my edit as well. DRK sends information back to your computer when it's done combining the transactions, and you sign the giant transaction it makes with your private key. It appears to be different in more ways than that, but since I can't fully grasp CLOAK I'm not going to bother typing it out. Thanks for the questions. It does seem like you're missing something. Although, it might not be your fault. The whitepaper is definitely out of date. We've done a lot of work at tweaking the trust model so that it can't be exploited. I'll try to explain how it works briefly, then hopefully if I get time I can revisit the whitepaper soon. - Masternodes don't have any power over the transactions. They just coordinate the signing. All parties must sign in order for the transaction to be valid. So there's no way to cheat and take the money. - Users submit collateral. At a later phase if a user doesn't provide the signature as agreed, the transaction will fail. Without colateral this could be done over and over bringing the system to a halt. - Masternodes have the ability to take the collateral transaction if they wish, but it's paid to the bounty fund. So it doesn't benefit them, it just benefits the community. This removed the incentive to cheat and take the money. There's no relying on pools at all anymore. Payments to masternodes are done with a voting system embedded into the blockchain. It would take 51% of the mining power to pay the wrong masternode, or another party (because the last few miners to solve blocks must agree on who should be paid) Transaction currently require 3 parties to be created, so there's a short wait. There are no fake transactions to make that quicker, although this could be done. There's usually 5 or so transaction per 2.5 minutes, so the network should be able to function pretty efficiently under these requirements. Hoping that helps . Thanks, Evan |

Looks like RC4 might get us back to 0.015 or 2 at the max. I don't see us ever getting above that again.
Need to rely on BTC for the dollar price from now on.

Multipools support so many coins, and every coin has their way of doing things, and we already have such a huge headache from avoiding forks, mandatory updates (across 40 wallets!!) that when a coin comes along and is like "Hey now you also need custom code, or a stratum update" it throws quiet the fork in to our operations. We don't follow your coins directly (at least I don't) but we are more than happy to comply and make sure your eco system is working-- just make it easy and clear for us to do so, because we have to do it across MANY MANY coins every day.
That's like complaining that you run a travel agency and each airline has different policies and keeping up with them is SUCH a burden. I mean, isn't it kind of obvious that dealing with dozens of coins is going to be challenging? +1 Have you guys thought about that hostility isn't helping your/our case right now? Seriously! Not a single posting of you guys has helped them with what to actually do. So cut them some slack and help them with complying or stfu. What hostility ? We support like 40 coins, all of them have something bubbling, for none of them do we have update stratum code unless it's a new algo. First we were told we just needed to update client, which we complied with as fast as we could. If some one could point to some clear instructions on what needs to be done, we would attempt to comply, but so far nothing (something beyond then just "update NOMP" as we have to write the solution custom ourselves.)
Hi, I have to agree with this, there should be no stratum modifications necessary for the masternode payments, they should be done within the coin wallet code, there is code already out there for this, check freicoin or other coins that have automated donations. People are going to exploit this to steal masternode payments. I guarantee it. I can't see how once it's enforced. Care to elaborate ? Blocks not including payment or ones attempting to tamper with it will be orphaned as far as I understand. Yes. That's why I don't understand his statement. |
