341  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining on the boat (Internet connection problem) on: February 22, 2017, 07:40:43 AM
First hearing that is a good idea to put the machine on a boat. But the environment and temperature you also need to consider.
342  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S3 Help Please!!! on: February 22, 2017, 07:28:10 AM
Solved!!!!! (nearly a year late but I hope this may help someone anyway) I cant see a solution elsewhere.

Credit also to Nezroy for pointing me in the right direction. He is correct that this is caused by the cgminer not recieving instructions for freq settings and he saved me a lot of time trawling through code.

His solution would work in theory but I believe there is a better beginner friendly way.

With the most recent firmware installed, go to the tabs, System ==> Miner configuration ==> Advanced settings. And re-select the default freq for your device. then hit "save and apply". No power reset required. This will load the missing values back in.

For those that care, I believe this is caused by the "keep settings" box being ticked on the firmware update. This causes problems for those of us that are updating from the original installed cgminer by bitmain, to the updated cgminer v4.6.1 at firmware S320141013. The OS is probably trying to import the old freq settings into the new cgminer in an incorrect format. Those that don't tick this box on firmware update probably wont have this problem as default values will be used. Those that update between versions S320141013 and S320150109 firmware also are probably not affected as cgminer versions are unchanged.

Hope this helps.

By the way, your S3 is still profitable??

349  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Referrals on: February 21, 2017, 03:31:23 AM

Thanks for the answer.
Do you have any idea if the referral is good or not for a website?
What are the goods and bads by beginning a referral?
It's a good thing for website and referer. Referer receives commission (earnings) from referrals, website gets more visitors/users.
There are also some bads things in this case, like joining site through your own referral link.
And it can be quite hard to get many referrals, because sometimes you need to do lot of job to promote your referral link.

How will that need a lot of job? Well, as I understand that we just leave the referral link on the website. Anything else we need to do?

351  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Referrals on: February 20, 2017, 08:20:52 AM
Can someone explain what is a referral on a website? Is that one of advertisements?
I'm confused by different concepts.

Referral is you get a commission whenever you referred a NEW user to a site by using a link that the site created for you. Some sites pay commissions when someone signs up using your link, while most of the sites pay you commission when your referred new member deposited or invested Bitcoin or money in the site.

Well here it is hashnest suggested by hashnest himself lol while they're the manufacturer of mining equipment and have the cheapest electricity at their disposal they can't offer much profit in return for investments but at least they let you to sell your GH/s at any time you like. so I suggest to only use their services if you ever wanting to donate your money to strangers.

Smiley did you ever try our service?  Wink

Hello!

I'm thinking of getting into Bitcoin but I don't feel like buying the hardware of an S5 to get started. Has anyone had any luck with a cloud service like Genesis Mining?

What are your thoughts?

Having heard about this website recently in one of the Telegram channels I joined.
This website claims to earn 0.0000004 bitcoin every minute / 0.0006 everyday.
I've searched about this website but there is no many information.
I found this website listed in the bad list on badbitcoin.org with the reason "Don't download that plugin. It seems to be phishing Lastpass credentials", I told this to some users using this service but they try to convince me this is not true or they don't care about Lastpass because they don't use it.

I still not sure if this website is legit or not, want to hear some opinions from bitcointalk users.

try www.hashnest.com which is the most reliable cloud mining platform.
356  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there any available bot for cloud mining on: February 20, 2017, 07:41:43 AM
Bot to do what? you think it's like trading stuff to use API or bots? of course there is not much profit or any profit at all, I'm also a victim of cloud mining scam services and already learned my lesson. sorry but once you bought your contract there is no way out unless you can sell your hashing power. only services that are not total scam are the one(s) that letting you to trade hashing power.
Trading hashrates is one of ways to keep your investment returned, isn't it?

I see so many services offering to double, triple and multiple in all possible amounts the coins you put to them. This doesn't sound very convincing to me but some of them are offering the list of blockchain transactions as a proof that coins were credited. Is this pure scam like I think or is there a possibility to realy make some coins? Would like to hear your thoughts and experiences.
