I'm surprised no one has mentioned the fact that minirig earns MONEY FOR AT LEAST 5 MONTHS. You can calculate with your numbers but my spreadsheet says 12500$. So MR owners have to invest about 5000$ more max.
342  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs ASIC Gear Potential on: June 19, 2012, 10:38:06 PM
Good thing nobody has considered the drop in price of Bitcoins that will happen almost immediately after the ASICs arrive... Remember that this economy is based solely on the supply demand aspect, and bringing so many coins in at once is going to plummet prices. It's like what would happen to let's say the US dollar if the government sent every household $5,000... The price massively deflates as the supply increases.

Supply is 50BTC/10minutes now, and 25BTC/10minutes sometime around December, regardless of hashrate.

He might mean that miners have to sell their coins. If they pay BFL with BTC then BFL has to sell coins to get some cold hard cash.

How can we advertise bitcoin as decentralized if one company has a monopoly manufacturing mining HW.

I didn't see you complaint about ATI...

That's different because everyone had the cards and GPU prices are not linked to BTC. I just think BFL has too much power on BTC, that's all.
344  Other / Off-topic / Re: BUTTERFLY LABS - Please post your Trade-Up/Upgrade Program Details on: June 19, 2012, 09:39:47 PM
Basically everyone has two options from now on: get out of mining or buy from BFL.
Possibly, but not for long with the up and coming open source ASIC project. Additionally, Enterpoint have stated that they may be able to produce something very competitive using FPGAs, although I'm not quite sure how.

This is coming from a guy who likes Enterpoint: I call BS. Look at the prices! Maybe in terms of MH/W but that doesn't matter since it's 20 already.

In another thread user bulanula said kudos to BFL. It took little over 4minutes from BFL to answer "thanks".

If someone is wondering why I am so mad. Well, I will have to get out mining when ASICs hit the market. I really liked this stuff. End of bitcoin. Mark my words. Mining won't decentralized anymore.
That doesn't make any sense.  Why will you have to get out of mining when ASICs hit the market?

$150 is currently cheaper than just about any mining solution out there.  If anything, in the long run, that will help to continue to decentralize mining, not centralize it.

Basically everyone has two options from now on: get out of mining or buy from BFL. I'm not comfortable with the latter due to their pre-ordering policy (money tied up weeks with no guarantees).

ASIC will decentralize if and only if everyone buys more HW. I don't think majority of miners (especially new miners) are ready to update their whole farm. Buying 3.5GH means nothing if there are 40GH available @1299$. Mining = BFL

I was about to order 30 singles 6 weeks ago but decided not to when I found out the lead time from BFL. Changed my order to another FPGA manufacturer but I guess that's not going to happen either.

How can we advertise bitcoin as decentralized if one company has a monopoly manufacturing mining HW.

He was making a deal with a guy from this forum. The guy accidentally sent too much BTC (25 instead of 2.5). Scumbag bulascamnula refused to send them back. He said that he can't be sure who send them... He is a fucking idiot.

I would advice Enterpoint not to publish that much information. It might help competitors to push them out of the market.

I admit that you have a point and you are right. I'm sure it wont stay there long. For a few days to make the point.

I would like to point out that BFL did NOT apologize immediately. They apologized after moderator DiabloD3 posted on that thread.. Do you research man. BFL's punishment is well deserved.

I disagree, it isn't deserved. I did do my research - you just have a different notion of what counts as "immediately." Sure, they apologized after a number of members, including DiabloD3, called them out for the stupid remark. Still, it didn't take them long to apologize, and the mature thing to do is to accept their apology without childish retaliation. Look, there are lots of reasons to be unhappy with BFL business practices, and they are being picked apart over this to the nth degree in various threads on this forum, but this doesn't justify creating a sticky thread over one unfortunate comment they made. If any other member on this forum had made this comment, it certainly wouldn't have lead to this sticky. So BFL is obviously being overly punished for this simply because one or more of the mods doesn't like them and is blowing the whole event out of proportion. If you want to attack BFL, stick with the real reasons for this - i.e. their business practices - and not one stupid comment they made and apologized for. My point is, they shouldn't be overly punished for the stupid comment just because there are *other* reasons to be unhappy with them. Attack them for the other reasons and let the stupid comment go.

BFL is not a regular member. It's a company and that user BFL is representing Butterflylabs inc. That's why it got stickied. Do you think it is appropriate to talk shit in other manufacturer's thread? No, it is not. I say this again: They apologized after DiabloD3 hinted them to stfu. You have different rules when you are representing a company.

"Availability" is just meaningless in my opinion, unless BFL specifies what they mean by it.

Availability to butterfly labs means, "Hey guys, we are available to take your millions of dollars starting now. We will sit on this cash building THOUSANDS of dollars in interest over the next 6 months, then maybe think about shipping your items. Gotta go, busy so we can't comment on any of your complaints. Will update in next 3 months."

EDIT: also, how is the trade in going to work? Will we have to ship our singles back the day we order the ASICs and not be able to mine while we wait? Or can we trade them in when the ASICs arrive?

Dear Morblias,

Regarding the trade-in, you can keep your units until your BitForce SC is ready to be shipped.

Regards,
BF Labs Inc.

What about normal orders that are paid with cash? Do I have to pay in advance like know or do you ask for the payment when my unit is packed and ready to ship? That would be nice.

If KyleH and Unacceptable had been around long enough they would know that we are just playing. Looks like they have no idea about the drama that surrounds BFL.

So KyleH, how many BFL products do you have? How many GPUs do you have?

Unacceptable, you can continue your real life work. Better not come here anymore 'cause this forum is soooo lame.

You took the time to quote, but stripped the url.  Don't be calling me lazy when you don't know how to properly cite your sources.

You were told it's from Enterpoint thread and still you were asking for a link --> LAZY!!!! I stripped all the trollfaces and other extra stuff and just posted the important part.

Timeline will be available as soon as we start taking preorders. And I must say that it will come out at least 3 months earlier
than what most people have estimated. Hope that helps.

BF Labs Inc.
Why do you need pre-order money if you have a venture capitalist?

I guess you haven't heard. Everyone who "pre-orders" is a venture capitalist Cheesy

Do some more research and you might come across pictures of singles. Yes, they are real and they do over 800MHash/s @80W.
There are also FPGAs that do 920MHash/s @40W. Try searching ztex or enterpoint cairnsmore1

With my approve settings and SW4 1 off, 234 on (this FPGA deactivated) i get ~143Mh/s on my pool. No more invalids  Still invalids ~30% Grin

I really hope that it will pay itself off by the time your retire...

*trollface*

How about clarifying the questions surrounding the BFL SC and providing a timeline instead of trolling other manufacturer's threads?

It would be great if you posted that on your own thread. I'm sure many of us are also interested in your products. Trolling here is stupid and makes you look bad.
