342  Local / India / Re: Unocoin is back on: January 23, 2014, 03:20:11 PM
so i registered with unocoin today. what is this BAI donation?
already the fee is high, and with this donation added it's 4%.
If it is a donation, it must be voluntary not mandatory.

BAI = Bitcoin Alliance of India

I do not think they represent the BTC community as a whole though , most certainly not from my perspective. In fact I found their first statement to be quite annoying.

And yeah , donations **MUST NOT** be mandatory.

This is  what i have been saying  for a  very  long time, they are not a part of the community they never  took part  in the community, and they have never looked to benefit the community. they are  a Business coalition they will only answer to profit margins.

Any one can register a non-profit and give it a  name, does not mean they do  good.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Request for giveaway threads to be assigned its own sub forum. on: January 23, 2014, 04:57:02 AM
Hi,

Request for the giveaway threads to be assigned its own sub forum. Checking the Altcoin section right now, it looks like the alt section is only occupied by giveaways. It would be nice to have other topics showing up in the main altcoin section.

Just a suggestion.

Even LTC, though some like to call it silver compared to gold of btc. It certainly is not going anywhere.

Thats a big statement to make .. cause this chikun is going to the mooooon lolz.
it is certainly not when you compare it to btc as the next big thing.  while others like mastercoin, pts et al have the ability to  reach btc price if they actually implement their ideas correctly.

Me thinks your underestimating the irrational exuberance of the markets .. besides some of the ideas in something like mastercoin may well be incorporated in btc in the future.

Guys, mastercoin is not a alt coin it's a protocol layer on top of bitcoin.

But yes, mastercoin  can do alot of thing and it's a great protocol. and  can  be  used to  do  many different  things. Its future is bright.

346  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: [WTS] 2 x Msi Twin Frozr III 7950 Graphic Cards on: January 21, 2014, 06:02:11 AM
well if you are open to negotiations you can give me the next best offer.

I cannot sell just my GPUs and mobo + PSU. That way all my other components become worthless.

IF you want, you can just make an offer on the 2 GPUs.

The thing is that my current motherboard can't accept any more cards and  for that i need to buy a  new one.

If you sold your GPU's i would like to take the motherboard too. have a few old cpu's, RAM, and HDD, lying around to get that functioning. other wise for the two cards i will need to buy a new board.

you give me a day, i may be able to find you a buyer for the other components. If i am able to find you a buyer for those components What is the offer for the components i mentioned.

for the other components you can compile the price share it to me and i will offer it to the buyer.

359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A simple method to (probably) prevent big pools from 51% attacking on: January 16, 2014, 04:43:24 PM
Can you choose which pool you want to process your transaction?

I mean, is the problem now that if you made a 'patch' to the protocol that favoured P2Pool,  the big mining pools would never switch over to that version of Bitcoin and as they control the hashing power, they control Bitcoin.

But what if the 5 biggest exchanges as well as Bitpay, Blockchain.info and Satoshi dice all said from this date and this time we are only sending our transactions to P2Pool?  Maybe those big players make up such a big % of the total transactions that the the big pools will be processing such a small % of transactions, and will be so totally against the will of the community, that the smaller fork will be the real fork.

If it is pre-announced, hashers should pre-emptively switch to P2Pool anyway and enough of the friendly big pools, BTC Guild and Eligius might reluctantly point their own equipment into P2Pool too, maybe giving the new Bitcoin patch 51% of the hashing power anyway.

Leaving a 'potentially' nefarious Ghash.io stranded?
In a P2P network, you cannot control where you send the transaction. You announce your transaction to the nodes connecting with you and they will relay it to their neighbours and go on.

Moreover, I don't think there can be a 'patch' to favour P2Pool. Bitcoin protocol itself has no favour to any miner as long as they can create a correct block.

Yes you can because you can control which nodes you connect to if you want.  You can start Bitcoin-QT with options to connect to specific nodes and only those specific nodes.  Most users probably just connect without those options but you can do it pretty easily.

But  how can  anyone get a 51% besides Ghash.io at this moment?
