3401  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies! Beware of using Centralized wallet like Coinbase. on: December 25, 2020, 06:11:35 AM
He logged in after 3 years, I believe he will just requires to submit KYC to verify his account. Many terms changes in coinbase due to regular update for regulatory compliance. He will surely retrieve his account once he submit all necessary documents required to prove his ownership and identity. This is not new on all centralized exchange especially coinbase.
Many things can change in 3 years in policies: national restrictions, delistings, etc. Some exchanges have rules in ToS that if you are inactive to use your account after ..... months, your accounts will be frozen and you will need to go with account verification to reuse it.

Use a third party wallets and don't log in account in 3 years is very bad.
3402  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reading charts question. on: December 25, 2020, 05:08:50 AM
Not exactly because the total amount of bitcoin bought by all these companies over the past month is not even 0.01% of the total volume that is being traded on exchanges in a week. So what they do is not going to exactly affect the market by any significant amount that could cause a significant rise.
The news itself could create a small hype but the rise coming from such hype is not big enough to cause this size of rise.
The rise of bitcoin since the big test in March is organic and as long as it is organic, its rise is sustainable. I don't get how people look at the news and judge whales are holding or selling bitcoin. They can move their bitcoin in and out exchanges to create news.

Whales can move 1000 bitcoin but with $23,5 milions, they can buy more than 1000 bitcoin when price falls 5%. They will have 50 more bitcoin in their wallets.

Last 24 hours, 1,563,813 BTC were traded and I feel to surprising when people are mad with a transaction with few thousand of bitcoin.

3403  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's a 51% attack? on: December 24, 2020, 02:57:37 AM
You can get some cost estimates from https://www.crypto51.app/. These estimates are estimated from network total hashrates and Nicehash cost for 1 hour. Cost to attack is big for one hour and to get a successful attack, it can require more than 1 hour.

There are times that some big mining pools that were doubt to be controlled by same company (Bitman) with net-hashrates higher than 51% but they did not do any attack on the network. Bitman decides to split their pools. I think the attack (on bitcoin network) can only be done by pool owners but I don't see how they will take risk and do so.

Bitcoin network is decentralized and many full nodes will detect the attack and the community, exchange will react quickly to stop it. The probability to run successful attacks for long time is zero. It's impossible.

During the first attack, Parity (OpenEthereum) nodes running in pruned mode ignored the attacking blocks, while the rest of the network accepted the attacking blocks as valid, resulting in a partitioned network of pruned Parity nodes vs the rest of the network
3404  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism | what %age should be allowed? on: December 24, 2020, 02:45:59 AM
I don't know if there is already a conversation about How much percentage of plagiarism should be allowed to different projects in their Whiteperp/ litepaper or whatever they call it. I would like to initiate this topic here. As I have seen some papers got 10% plagiarism where people start calling them scammer, I think Less than 15% plagiarism should be allowed [which is allowed worldwide] as there are many cases where one can not change some terms, as if they do they'll completely change the meaning. But they also should copy someone else's paper and just remove the plagiarism, which should be strictly not allowed. What is your opinion about plagiarism and how much should be allowed in what cases?
Copyrights need to be learnt before people want to create their projects and write their Whitepaper. They can not blame on anything, any reason that why they copy and paste but skip the source. Even they are living in nations where copyrights are not protected by laws and governments. I know the copyrights is applicable globally but there are nations where governments don't care to spend their human resources to protect the rights.

It is bad in morality to copy and paste other works and use it for your financial incentives but ignore the original authors.

Could you tell me where did you get the 15% of plagiarism is accepted, please.

Quote
Q: What is the acceptable percentage of plagiarism report?

Answer:
There is a lack of consensus or clear-cut-rules on what percentage of plagiarism is acceptable in a manuscript. Going by the convention, usually a text similarity below 15% is acceptable by the journals and a similarity of >25% is considered as high percentage of plagiarism.

But even in case of 15% similarity, if the matching text is one continuous block of borrowed material, it will be considered as plagiarized text of significant concern. On the other hand, text similarity due to the usage of common terminologies and method related details in ‘Methodology’ part of a manuscript should not raise a serious ethical concern.

3405  Other / Meta / Re: Why it's easier to hack BTT users account on: December 24, 2020, 01:55:44 AM
1) when you register on BTT you don't receive a confirmation email to verify your registration ( meaning you can use someone else email to register on BTT without there notice).

2) when there is a login attempt on your account you don't receive a notification ( maybe there's a place to set this in the setting/user dashboard but I've not come across it yet).
The forum allows people to use the throw-away or unreal email to register. It is a freedom for people's anonymity. Notifications for login attempts are not necessary because the forum is not a place for commercial things. It is built up for technical discussions of bitcoin as its main aim at beginning.

Sign a message, your PGP key are enough to protect your account and prove your account ownership.

Quote
3) when someone have access to your account, he/she changed your email address ( this is a very bad practice)!
Once email address is changed, everything can be changed ease as well.
The forum locks account when suspicious things are detected. I don't know how it is applied but email address change can be one of suspicious things than can cause account lock for security.

Quote
Your email address is supposed to be your greatest weapon and once that has been taking from you, it automatically means all right has been taking from you.
Protect your forum account and your email account is your responsibility. Some people turn on their email address publicly and they accept any email attacks so I believe they ignore all potential risks and don't need 2FA protection.

3406  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the purpose of your post ? on: December 23, 2020, 06:18:46 AM
What people can get in the time they be here and by their posts are not from the forum budget. Bounties, campaigns are from companies outside the forum. It is the big forum for crypto companies so they join here, advertise and run their campaigns here.

You can get money if you are good poster, make good posts and be qualifiable for good campaigns. Have payments and post cap can make you feel pressure if you are busy in a week. In normal weeks, makes 4 or 5 posts a day (good quality) is not a pressure. I know one member left a good campaign when he felt pressure from post cap. After he left that campaign, he still makes posts.

3408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Erc20 tokens run under etheruem blockchain platform, know the difference on: December 23, 2020, 03:26:25 AM
You made many faults in your topic.

First and most important, there is an unique Ethereum, and I can not find Etheruem coin.

Do you know there is difference between etheruem (wallet) and erc20 etheruem (wallets)?
They are wallets for Ethereum and some wallets support ERC20 tokens, some are only support Ethereum.

Quote
Important because if you misuse both wallets, you may lose your coins. Etheruem wallet itself is different from erc20 etheruem wallets. Meaning if you send out etheruem wallet address to receive erc20 token, you may have sent out a wrong address.
It is not misuse of wallets. You are writing about mistakenly do your transactions on Ethereum network. Make transactions for ERC20 tokens to a receiving wallet that does not support ERC20 tokens will cause loss. Some companies can give you support but they might charge fee (not small).

Quote
Etheruem is a single coin like Bitcoin, waves etc is also called and with its own separate blockchain. So erc20 tokens are more ( not into a personal blockchain) but they are blockchain based tokens : meaning also that an erc20 token can develop into having a separate blockchain too.
ERC20 tokens are tokens on Ethereum network, on ERC20 chain. They only have a separate blockchain if their developers build up one and make a swap from ERC20 chain to their own chain (not on Ethereum network). It is different than your explanation. They use Ethereum network to raise funds for their projects and they won't create any separate chain for their project if they stick with ERC20 chain.
3409  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Avoid speculating on the BTC/USD rate on: December 22, 2020, 04:27:03 AM
If you are afraid of volatility why not exchange your BTC into USDT or any stable coin where you can use later to exchange to BTC back if you want to or if you know that the BTC will increase again.
And honestly, you don't need to speculate if you believe in Bitcoin and you want to get more profits in the next price increase why not hold? or use exchanges where you can set stop-limit order when the price is about to drop it will trigger once the price of Bitcoin drops after the price increase. In this type of order, you can avoid losing profit.

Try to learn about any types of orders from Binance here https://www.binance.com/en/support/articles/360033779452-Types-of-Order
Binance would be the better best place and safe that I know as of now to keep BTC while waiting for another price increase(Not actually recommended to hold BTC to any exchanges).
Convert BTC to USDT or other stable coins to avoid the volatility of bitcoin price and any loss is good. Unfortunately, there is risks by using stable coins to store your asset. It is risk and can happen or not happen but beware of risks and make decisions.
[UPDATED] PSA: Most Stablecoins Can Be Frozen, Even in Your Own Wallets

The Bitcoin will be bullish in 2021 and holding bitcoin won't bring holders loss in the next year. I understand OP can worry temp loss if bitcoin crashes by pullbacks. It is a difficult choice to make, sure.

$2.3B in Bitcoin exchange outflows dwarfs the amount of new BTC mined
The Number of BTC On Exchanges Is Down Almost 7%
True bitcoiners don't worry about volatility and temp losses.

It's been answered already mate. I suggest when you asked questions here, come here when Google can't supply what you need. These are basic questions that can be searched.

Best tip. Use Google and filter those you can't understand and talk here. I know you are newbie but let's not rely on all answer feeds. We can do it ourselves to find out what we need.
I quickly looked at post page and my feeling is this is merit chasing topic. It is soft to answer questions if it is real question. You are correct to guide OP to make search with Google. It is not hard enough to unable get answer from search and learn with Google help. The forum has its Search tool too: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search

3412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk on Bitcoin: "Bitcoin is almost as bs as fiat money" on: December 21, 2020, 02:56:42 AM
Maybe he's trolling again.

Look at the description of his profile; "Former CEO of Dogecoin".

He's tweeting about Dogecoin too which made the pump quickly. Just a few hours ago, he has tweets about bitcoin. We knew it that Elon is for bitcoin and his tweets are always favorable to bitcoin.
LOL. These troll reminds me on how Mcc Afee trolled in 2017 and 2018. At the ends, his tweets are not simply troll, he did something shady and was accused by police later.
Those influencers and their tweets can manipulate price of cryptocurrency but they don't contribute anything to developments of those projects. They are not members of internal team and sometimes even don't involve in any progress of community expansion.

3413  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's highest price before the Year End's on: December 21, 2020, 01:39:37 AM
i think it is perfectly easy to reach $25k before the year ends specially since there has been a very good rise so far and we are currently sitting above the ATH and all the resistances that it imposed on bitcoin.

there could also be a panic buying because every year a certain percentage of the market thinks that there should be a dump just because it is the end of the year and when their prediction doesn't come true they always panic buy.
It does not matter if bitcoin can reach $25k or $27k. The things to worry is what can happen after bitcoin reaches that price. The game is not on the hands of retailers and I am worrying that what fearful story will be released after that price (if bitcoin reaches it).

In 2017, it is a serious debate for the hardfork that lasted some months. I can not imagine any story like that because bitcoin network is working well and the lightning network is there to be used more. Thinking of the bad story with network operation sounds unrealistic but I believe that something will happen. It is just a matter of which story.
3414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question about rollback of the btc blockchain on: December 21, 2020, 01:25:46 AM
The rollback was actually proposed to CZ upon Binance's hack but he turned the offer down. For a rollback to occur, 51% of the miners have to approve of it and rollback that transaction on a particular block. but beyond the price are the psychological consequences that follows. Imagine preaching Bitcoin's immutability and later altered a block confirmation and a rollback on a particular trascation, who will wan to believe that Bitcoin and blockchain in entirety is truely immutable.
The problem with roll back is a consensus of mininum 51% of miners by their total contributed mining hashrates and how far the target block is from the newest block. The farther that block gap number is, the hardest the rollback will be challenge. The blockchain is like a soil layer and if the target block is 1 month before newest block today, it is a huge challenge. Why I use the time 1 month? As being said, it need a consensus that never easy to be reached.

Bitcoin blockchain is built up to be decentralized and its network is truly decentralized. It is not centralized as Ethereum or Ripple to be rollback whenever the companies want as with Ethereum and the DAO hack.

3415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin transaction fees be too high in the future? on: December 20, 2020, 05:03:21 AM
You got some point which is actually true. Actual sats value will really vary specially if the price of bitcoin would really go to the rooftop.

Even having that 1sat/byte will really be costly in near future but who knows? No one can predict on what would be the price ahead neither we do see hundreds of thousands
or would just remain into this level.

This had been a common issue with Bitcoin but somehow it is bearable or can be handled out.
Lightning Network is in its growth and fee on Lightning Network will be cheaper. In future, more developments will be considered and developed and they are things will happen. In 2017, fee was very high and the bitcoin network was stucked for weeks. Now, bitcoin climbs to $24,000 and the fee is low. You can open a debate that if bitcoin climbs to $50,000 and thousands of people are hurry up to sell their bitcoins, fee will be higher again. It is true but I have never thought the network and fee will be crazy like what happened in 2017.
3416  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Groups in Telegram on: December 20, 2020, 04:20:36 AM
I rarely use telegram because of this. If I am interested in a project and want to stay updated with their latest news, I'd rather visit their official website or read their tweets than join their channel.
If you use Telegram, it is not bad if you only join Annoucement (view-only) groups
I will join the annoucements or news groups that often are view-only groups.

Quote
You can't learn anything useful on telegram. It became a place to promote referral and phishing links.
Probably, scammers prefer to use tg because of the possiblity to delete conversations from both sides.
Telegram is annoying with scammers, scam groups and notifications but you can turn off notifications if you don't want to receive it. You can turn on or turn off notifications for different groups.

On mobile, you can create Folders for Announcement groups you are folllowing.

Settings ➔➔ Folders ➔➔ Create new folder ➔➔ Add chats ➔➔ Select groups and create a folder. It helps you to manage your Telegram very neat.
3417  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bounties are profitable or not ? on: December 20, 2020, 03:57:19 AM
Hope Doing well anybody tell me actually i did recently i have  joining the bounties because some bounties are real and some bounties are coming low value in the market but how i guess this is real or not i have doing joining too much project. ICO Bounties how too pay us with good profit ? iam doing last 3 to 4 month in this bounties field but i have difficult to find new real project hope you are understand thanks
You participated in bounties since August 08, 2019 and now you asked the question. If you see it is not profitable, it is not profitable. You do know that by yourself.

Your question is inaccurate itself. Profitable is when you invest something from your pocket. With bounties, you don't invest anything. The question should be "Is it waste of time when I join bounties?"

With that question, I can say "Yes, you are wasting your time". Rikafip gave your his good advice and you should follow it and build up your account here. In the future, you will have better opportunities. Bounties is for spammers and shillers of bad projects and many of them are scam projects.
3418  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It's too damn easy to become a developer nowadays on: December 19, 2020, 03:06:12 PM
there is no certificate of qualifications to be a crypto developer, tokens are so damn easy to build through smart contract platforms
Certificate is from their source code. If their projects are created by source code of other projects and they only change minor details: project names, token name, ticker, total supplies, blocktime, block rewards. Those projects are scam.

I don't consider people who create and run scam projects as developers. They don't deserve to be called as developers.
3419  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The best platform to use for buy and sell crypto on: December 19, 2020, 02:08:39 PM
I need an advice for what I am planning.
- I want to ask another fee, maybe by percentage for every transaction. E.g. 200USD worth of BCH, beside the 200USD  I'll ask 2% transaction fee. So they will pay me 204 USD.
OR no need to ask this kind of fee? I'll just add some amount of buy/sell price or on the spread. So they can be somehow thankful for no transaction fee.
There are two things in a trade:
- Price of crypto asset: Ripple or BCH in your trades.
- Transaction fee.

Price is given in the offer details, before the trade opens.

Transaction fee: can be charge on the side of seller or buyer. In my opinion, the fee should be on the seller. On exchanges, lending, the buyer or lending service providers will be responsible for fee. It helps you to get more easily offer. The fee should be consider for your offer price and all things after that will be easy and smooth. Accept the offer, open a trade. If not, please search for other offers.
3420  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Groups in Telegram on: December 19, 2020, 02:29:34 AM
I tend to ignore community groups because there are lots of spammers and admins or moderators of community groups unable to instantly delete all spam posts.

As crypto traders or investors, joining Telegram groups of exchanges you are using is good. If they have different telegram groups (community, announcements, news), I will join the annoucements or news groups that often are view-only groups. You can get updates with those groups: maintenance, listing news, delisting news, events.

I don't promote for Binance but there is a page for Binance community: https://www.binance.com/en/community
You can choose https://t.me/binance_announcements or https://t.me/BinanceAcademy to join.
