3441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum (ETH) - was crash, ($350 to $13) is it True? on: June 23, 2017, 07:44:01 AM
i also read about this issue but never got the chance to witness it with my eyes if thats happen i'm not sure what's the reason behind maybe a mistake or its really a dive coming from a big whales because its really hard to believe that this things can happen as many are aiming to have some cheap eth while its in the middle of the hype.

you don't really have to witness these things live, you can always check the history. the charts always have all the history and can never change. and the price didn't crash to $13 it crashed down to $0.10 and it only took about 178 ETH to crash it that low! and it lasted about an hour
and no it wasn't a big whale it was a simple panic sell on a small market which didn't have the manipulative buy walls of poloniex.

here is the link: https://www.gdax.com/trade/ETH-USD
and here is a screenshot for the lazy Cheesy
3442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum will continue to decline...dont buy Ethereum.. on: June 23, 2017, 07:31:22 AM
these news sites are very funny!
they wait and wait and wait and when they become absolutely sure about some price movement then they release some useless post.
this is a valuable article that you should've shared: https://medium.com/@WhalePanda/i-was-wrong-about-ethereum-804c9a906d36 and it was written before the dip meaning on June 12. also it has pretty good information.
the same news site is just going to release the exact opposite and call it a good investment if the price goes up again.

also don't post altcoin related stuff in the main board. here is bitcoin discussion.
3443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IF ethereum dies... on: June 22, 2017, 11:50:34 AM
So You think Rootstock could host them? Never heard of it before.

But what prevents BTC itself to accommodate smart contracts at some point in the future (lay person question here)?
it is pretty new. it just recently raised $1 million. and it is supposed to bring smart contracts to bitcoin utilizing the side chains. so it will be instant transactions and very cheap ones at that. to find out more about it please visit their official website: http://www.rsk.co/

Pusuer. ...how is RSK going?
Does Rootstock mean that btc can do anything ETH can?
eventually yes. that is the final goal. there will be a lot of challenges along the way but it seems like a pretty good project to me. here is another link: https://medium.com/@CryptoIQ.ca/rootstock-smart-contracts-on-the-bitcoin-blockchain-e52b065421a8

It is a centralized sidechain and therefore has distinct disadvantages.
I don't see anything centralized about it!
3444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Effect of Bitcoin Segwit on Litecoin price? on: June 22, 2017, 06:57:35 AM
we are a long way away from activation of SegWit on bitcoin. there is a new hope with the high percentage of miners support (85% last time I checked) for the new proposal but the debate is not yet over and I think it will continue to drag on for some more time. so litecoin has a good and open window of opportunity to shine.

also on top of that with all the drama in bitcoin and then activation of SegWit on litecoin and also the developers, specially Charlie Lee hard at work to improve and advertise and get services to accept litecoin payment, and a lot more helped LTC adoption grow and that helps the price to rise and stay up there.
so litecoin so far has a good growth and can use that big window of opportunity to strengthen its footsteps in the world of cryptocurrencies. and if it does that successfully it can finally gain some real value because of its real usage.
3445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IF ethereum dies... on: June 22, 2017, 06:45:46 AM
it is not a question of IF it is a question of when people realize Ethereum is not the best option for smart contracts out there. and it doesn't have to fail as in fall to zero for them to realize this. it is all about efficiency, how well it is performed and how cheap or expensive the whole process is both in money and time that it takes.

right now there is RSK (Rootstock) which will work on bitcoin blockchain (the most trusted and secure and well known blockchain) and it will be practically free to make a smart contract using it.
3446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vitalik openly admits he doesn't trust his creation on: June 22, 2017, 06:39:06 AM
that is what I have been saying for years. developers who don't even invest in their own project by buying it or mining it like the rest of us on even grounds are not to be trusted. because they don't care about their own project enough to do anything about it.
why do you think I like bitcoin, one of the many reasons is that Satoshi mined bitcoin alongside of many others such as Hal Finney who was the first person to download the client.

and right now all these altcoins (ethereum included) are just creating more and more lazy people who call themselves "developers" who just get paid for doing nothing (in case of ether 70 million premined ICO coins) and just sit back and post crap on twitter and enjoy the free millions of dollars they've got. there is no need for them to improve or develop they are already millionaires!

and when this fails, they just start another one from scratch and earn another couple of million dollars.
3447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SNC] SunContract - Decentralized Energy Market on: June 22, 2017, 06:30:58 AM
Just ordinary day at work, prepairing everything for ICO

[img ]https://i.imgur.com/scHQiGw.jpg[/img]

is that C# Cheesy
I can tell that is Visual Studio open, but I am not sure if that the code is C#. I cant tell if it has anything to do with SunContract or is it a random project open. because everything ETH related has nothing to do with C#, I am excited to see some altcoins or smart contracts written in C# though.
3448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC Out Of Steam on: June 21, 2017, 03:38:10 AM
It seems that LTC is out of steam and we saw the moon. Technical analysis shows that you should dump soon before we go back to 15 dollars in the major exhangers

I am no expert in TA but even I know that this was a perfect cup and handle formation!
which means there was simply a big sell pressure after reaching the previous high price which prevented the rise above that price and led to a little dip. and this dip or the handle won't last long and will reverse.

and besides you can only dream about $15 LTC this soon, even if the dump continues it will take a long time for it to go that low. there is a lot of good buy support for LTC because of all the hype that is receiving from everywhere! Charlie Lee is constantly working on it and advertising it, every time with a new good news. I can only see rise for LTC for the following month.

and that's not to mention the bitcoin price rise which has always took LTC with it up.
3449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What crypto is fast for sending from exchange to exchange? on: June 21, 2017, 03:32:11 AM
try to stick with the top altcoins which have a lot of liquidity.
you may find a random small altcoin that has a very fast confirmation (much faster than Doge for example) but the problem with those altcoins is that sometimes the exchanges don't have enough of them in their hot wallet or in total in their cold and hot wallet and you may get stuck waiting for them to manually pay you from cold storage. which can take days even!!

go with Doge or LTC and they will always have a lot of it in their hot wallet alone.
3450  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Surging Anew on: June 21, 2017, 03:24:50 AM
the market is moving as it should, all the FUD you see around the web is from kids who wish to magnify the effects of the drop to get more of cheap coins.
otherwise it was a nice little correction that needed to happen in order to keep the market healthy and strong instead of always rising and entering a dangerous bubble.
right now the buy support is back with much strength and this can also be because of the news about the recent development in the scaling front.
3451  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of exchange withdrawal fees on: June 21, 2017, 03:17:28 AM
poloniex fee 0.00010000

You have created a very useful thread with terrible accusations against polo I'm already thinking of looking for another place to make trade, but until now I have no idea which place might be better than poloniex to make trade

I didn't understand what you mean by "terrible accusations..." part but if you want to try another exchange then try bittrex.

I will add my experience:
Blockchain 0.0005
Hashnest 0.0002
I have used only this two wallets from the most beginning. But the information you gave to us can be really helpful.
read the title again!!!

Nice overview! Smiley Maybe you can add the date where it is updated too, to let us know that this list is up to date.

I don't understand the (coinbase) GDax part, but CoinBase's withdrawal fees as of now is 0.00087605 BTC, dropped from 0.001 ++, so that is a huge relief. Maybe you can add that too to your list. Cheesy
you can look at the date of the topic, there is an underline which shows you the edit date if you place your mouse over it. but I also added it to the subject.
I don't use coinbase/gdax and couldn't find it on their website Smiley

This is very helpful, I hope the list will more to add and also keep update, good job OP.
I want to input withdrawal fee from cryptopia, they fee has been raised from 0.0004 to 0.0008 based on their site  https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/News
it was already in the list (previously 4th one)

3452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC doing as much volume as BTC right now on: June 20, 2017, 04:18:59 AM
what do you think 'Volume' represents?
it is simply showing how much an asset is being traded.

now what do you think can cause 'Volume' or how much it is being traded to go up?
it is simply changes in price! when bitcoin was stable around $2550 and creeping up towards $2600 slowly (a 1.9% rise) litecoin has been rising from $25-$30 to $50 (~60% rise) and when a big rise happens a lot of volume is changing hands hence the volume increase...

I am glad though! litecoin is one of the rare altcoins that deserves the rise.
3453  Economy / Service Discussion / Overview of exchange withdrawal fees Update: 2017-8-30 on: June 20, 2017, 04:02:33 AM
with the increase in bitcoin transaction fees many exchanges also increased their bitcoin withdrawal fees, since I am using a lot of them, I've decided to make a topic listing their withdrawal fees here.

In descending order:

Poloniex|0.00010000|Slow death
OkCoin.com|0.00010000(?)|Website
Bitfinex|0.00040000|Website

Bittrex|0.00100000|Experience
Btc-e|0.00100000|Experience
NovaExchange|0.00100000|Experience

- source website means I opened up their fee page and it was written there.
- source experience means I have an account there and made a withdrawal and it cost me that much.

if you know any that I've missed and want me to add, post it here. or if anything is wrong feel free to correct it.
3454  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC can be a great store of value. Not for small transactions. on: June 20, 2017, 03:52:24 AM
My last transaction took a few hours to confirm, just over 1 satoshi/byte (0.03 USD). Plenty cheap and fast for me.

because the freaking spam attack has finally ended! right now the number of unconfirmed transactions in the mempool is less than 10K and it was 80K-100K all this time when fees were high.
and when they said there is spam attack nobody believe, and when they said miners may be spamming nobody believed. now that they reached an agreement about SegWit and it is gaining a high support (80-90%) it is stopping!!!
3455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2 ideas on my portfolio on: June 19, 2017, 03:55:18 AM
I personally have much more percentage in bitcoin because it has always been the safest option out there for investment specially as a diversification asset.
as for the rest I would reduce ETH and XRP, or even dump them all because things are not good at all with either of these coins, they are overly pumped and ETH has the ICO disaster that is upcoming. you can read this article for more information: https://medium.com/@WhalePanda/i-was-wrong-about-ethereum-804c9a906d36

the rest aren't that bad, but I think it is best if you increased LTC amount a little. and also don't just have a fixed set of coins in your portfolio, try to explore and find better short term investments. there are a lot of coins out there that go up from 50% to 200% in one day.
3456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ethereum a pump and dump? on: June 19, 2017, 03:48:31 AM
in short if you could invest in these ICOs with anything but ETH, like if you could buy them with bitcoin only, then ETH price would have still been at 0.01BTC at most.

Bitcoin is predominantly used for anonymous transactions ..
bitcoin doesn't give anyone any good level of anonymity, and those who want that are using Monero instead.

Quote
ETH have "smart contacts" as the main feature, meaning it's suited for the business world because you can integrate an objective into the coin
this is actually the main problem!
because smart contracts is the only thing that it offers and unlike bitcoin it is not really a unique thing to use, there are other platforms that does the same thing even better!!
and also the business world that you are talking about will never use ethereum, they only get in, watch and learn, then go implement their own thing to have extra security and don't worry about the 72 million ETH token premine thing...
3457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If we all planned to invest in an altcoin? on: June 19, 2017, 03:34:56 AM
If say a load of us on this forum planned to invest 1k each into an altcoin. Say burst. Would we drive the price up at all or would it take millions to drive it up enough to make a profit?

that is what the "pump groups" do. although it is not "a load of people" and just a small number of people on top who have a load of sheep following them to get dumped on.
and to do that it depends on how many sheep you can get to follow you and what altcoin you want to pump. if it is a small altcoin with little volume and very thin orderbooks then it can be done with small amount of money, sometimes even less than 1BTC to get it going.
but if it is a bigger altcoin with a high volume and packed orderbook and specially if there are other pumpers on it then you can't do anything because they will crush you.
3458  Economy / Economics / Re: [Manipulation 101] Market cap (to all who love repeating it these days) on: June 19, 2017, 03:26:06 AM
The oldest coin to survive purely on marketcap figures is Ripples xrp token. Most of the "circulating Supply" is not freely available to trade as the free gifted tokens to banks or partners are locked by contractual agreement.

what you call surviving is not really surviving, it is more of just existing like how all the rest of the altcoins have been doing. even coins like Bunnycoin that is worth less than 1 satoshi LOL. also this chart is only worth if you add the price on top of it. price that was 1400 satoshi last June and went down to 400 satoshi, and again like all the other altcoins it was pumped up to 24K

and what you just said is my whole point. the circulating supply is not even 1/100 of what we see!

Quote
Can someone explain how the circulating supply decreases from time to time? WTF
(Now 18 June 2017 "available" 38,290,271,363 XRP )

I think they said multiple times that they will "lock" some part of the supply in escrow or something, or maybe some of these dips are from burnt coins or something. but I am not sure.
3459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SNC] SunContract - Decentralized Energy Market on: June 19, 2017, 03:12:28 AM
That floating solar power plant is an absolute wonder.

I agree, solar has to be adopted more widely and by more
And more countries. I think the price of the hardware is
Reducing and the cost of using fossil fuels is rising.
i really hope that this sun contracts project is gaining more
and more attention.

wow, thanks for sharing this. you should have included a source though I had to do a little reverse image search to find it. and it is so interesting.
if anyone else was interested like me to find out more:
"this is the world's largest floating solar plant starts producing power in huainan, china, it is a 40-megawatt power plant that has 160,000 panels resting on a lake."

3460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are all Altcoins better than bitcoin and ethereum? on: June 18, 2017, 03:06:20 AM
having different features doesn't mean they are better than bitcoin! you can add thousands of features to one altcoin and not one of them even be used. of course many of the features that have already been implemented in many different projects are very interesting and even seem useful but not even one of them have gotten any real world usage.

when you are calling something alt-coin or crypto-currency, the first thing they do is act as a coin or a currency and as long as they don't do that they are not good and worthy of consideration.
