3481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Whats with the ETH sell wall on polo right now....appears to be getting eaten? on: June 12, 2017, 03:40:05 AM
picture or it didn't happen Grin

and besides that is not a new or strange thing, this happens in all the altcoins that are getting pumped. I saw Mooncoin get pumped a couple of days ago and it had sell walls which were huge on multiple exchanges!
I wouldn't call that a topic worthy material.
3482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin blues on: June 12, 2017, 03:29:05 AM
Litecoin has been around for quite some time now, and its user base is either dormant or declining. Even the recent spike in the crypto market capitalization has failed to boost the LTC. I am afraid that the big whales who were supporting LTC earlier have shifted their loyalty to either ETH or XRP. Right now, LTC is devoid of any media spotlight and despite its obvious advantages such as faster confirmations, the user base is not expanding.

that is simply wrong. specially about XRP. obviously when an altcoin is getting pumped it will attract all the money in the market, so ETH is doing exactly that right now but XRP's pump has stopped long time ago and it has been on the fall so far.

also if what you say is true and people have left litecoin, whales leaving, user base decreasing price should have fell and continued going down. but if you take a look at the charts you can see it has been very stable for a long time. it went up high because of SW hype and came down to above 0.01BTC and it is sticking around there. that shows there is a buying demand for it still.
3483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Someone's dropping 18M of ETH on: June 12, 2017, 03:21:55 AM
it depends who the person owning that 18 million ETH tokens is!
- an imaginary person: obviously no effect
- a whale who is not connected to ethereum foundation and Vitalik: price can take a hit but those guys have a lot more money to put up buy walls that one whale can do nothing.
- the ethereum foundation and Vitalik themselves: price will tank hard and there is nothing stopping it because the only one that was preventing crashes so far with their fake-whaly-buy-walls are selling themselves now.

so figure out who the whale is and you get your answer.
3484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to keep altcoins/crypto alive on: June 12, 2017, 03:12:33 AM
now, I see other coins start growing a lot.
lets make one thing clear by grow you mean their prices go higher which is known as a pump.
apart from that there is no adoption, or usage for them. they have many issues, bugs, exploits, low security, and scaling problems.

My concern is about Bitcoins status as leader. I believe we can have a major crash and developers run away if Bitcoin is not the "gold standard" in crypto.
what is your reason for thinking that?

Quote
First question I have: would you agree with this concern?
No!

Quote
Second question: what needs to happen to make Bitcoin a secure #1? I dont think we even need to do payments in btc, but at least make it relevant.
the question is what can even challenge bitcoin's #1 position as a decentralized digital peer to peer cash? these are the attributes that you need to look at no just the price or market cap.
3485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SNC] SunContract - Decentralized Energy Market on: June 11, 2017, 07:13:21 AM
about these bounties (such as the twitter campaign rewards), how can we receive them? I am not sure how it is going to work, there is no wallet and the Github repository only has a wiki so there is no wallet if I am not wrong?
does this mean the tokens will be distributed after release?
3486  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will new Bitcoin purchases see competition from Litecoin affordability? on: June 11, 2017, 03:38:17 AM
just being affordable by your definition does not warrant an investment. it also has to be good. I am not saying Litecoin is not but just pointing out the flaw in your logic.

a kilo of Gold is not affordable for most people to buy but you still see them invest in Gold so much easier than investing in anything else, like bitcoin. because they trust that is a good investment that will give them profit and keep their money safe at the very least.
the same is true with bitcoin and altcoins in general. they all know about bitcoin but never heard of altcoins. we who are in this community know about them and invest in them for the higher volatility and short term profits.
3487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] how low will Ripple go because of this bug? on: June 11, 2017, 03:33:43 AM
it is so funny how many newbie accounts are being created ever since XRP price started falling from this year's recent all time high of 24,300 satoshi. it is as if they invested on the very top during the hyped up pump and now they are losing money every day that price goes one step lower!

currently at 9000 satoshi! and that is a ~63% loss for them!
3488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I think I overdiversified... on: June 11, 2017, 03:18:24 AM
oh boy that is a long list and I think you are correct about being over diversified!
how do you even keep track of all these coins?  I personally find it impossible to do so, and prefer a handful of them just to be able to fully observe the changes and the news regarding all of them for some more precision.

from your list I don't know most of them because I have either never bought any or have done it in a very short period of time like buying in the morning and selling before noon Smiley

in the list I can say ETH seems to be on the pumping rise but I still consider it a highly risky investment.
also List has been rising very well so if you caught it early one you are in a good profit.
Doge coin rise seems to have ended, you should have gotten out 2 days ago.
ripple rise has ended about a month ago and I am surprised you even have it in your list!
byteball is a big no for me because of the way it has been distributed and the large supply of it.
NEM seems to be good but I have no investment in it at the moment.
Monero seems to be a more stable coin with less wild rises and falls so I consider it a part of an investment
Moon and RDD have been super profitable but they are at the end of their lines.

don't know much about the rest as I said above.
3489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why ETH price Up today? What happened? on: June 11, 2017, 03:06:19 AM
it is simply 2 things:
- the hype and the advertising team hard at work to spread the word all over the internet and get people to put their money in ETH.
- all the ICOs that keep popping up which all require you to have ETH tokens to invest in them. and I think everyone knows how hyped up they are!
3490  Economy / Speculation / Re: remember bitcoin on: June 09, 2017, 02:57:01 AM
Less than a year ago people were saying bitcoin wont reach a thousand dollars.

That is all

more interestingly when bitcoin price reached $1200ish people were saying "we are going down to $600" again" and they were comparing that rise with the 2013 rise just to give their saying some legitimacy!

and wait it doesn't end there, they are still doing it but the $600 in their statements has changed to a higher number now!
3491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt-coin price question + some food for thoughts... (from a newbie) on: June 09, 2017, 02:47:49 AM
How is the price of an alt coin calculated in (for example) Bittrex? In BTC or in Dollar?

I buy alt coins in BTC from Bittrex, but is this BTC price calculated from dollars to BTC by Bittrex (combined with demand/ask), or are the alt coins standard defined / calculated in BTC? Why this question: as far as i can see, the price of a certain alt coin only changes because of ask/demand. I don’t see any change in the SAT price of an alt-coin when the BTC dollar price goes up or goes down (well, i haven’t noticed this so far as I can see this difference).

So if a certain alt coin (coin ‘X’) is worth 1000SAT and the ask/demand is steady (no fluctuation), what would happen to the dollar price of this coin ‘X' when the BTC dollar price will double from [X] dollars to [Y] dollars? Will the value of coin ‘X’ still be 1000SAT at price [Y] or will the price of this certain coin drop from 1000SAT to 500SAT because BTC-Dollar price doubled?
there are two types of altcoins, those that are only being traded with bitcoin (and possibly with some other altcoins) and those that on top of that they are also being traded with fiat.
the first ones are only worth in BTC
the second ones both BTC and FIAT (like USD for example).

the rise and falls of all these altcoins are usually independent from bitcoin, they are pumped and dumped most of the time so they don't care if bitcoin is rising falling or even dead Cheesy

sometimes however bitcoin price affects them. for example when bitcoin is stable many traders move to altcoin market to make the profit they can't make in bitcoin because if its stability and when it starts rising again they pull out their money back to bitcoin and that causes ALTs to crash.

there are a lot of other scenarios that can happen too. mostly depends on which altcoin you are talking about.

Quote
...of BTC in the early days. Could it be possible that ‘they’ started to invest/take part in this journey a couple of years ago or even, worst case, in the beginning of BTC?
why do you even care? they may or may not have invested in it. why is it "worse case". many have invested in a lot of things, lets say Gold when it was cheaper, Apple shares when it was worth nothing, the list goes on, why should you care if someone else was earlier than you in investing in Apple and now has a lot more money?

Quote
the total market cap was around the 1.5 billion Dollars. Taking a large part within this market cap would be no problem for ’them’. Looking at the fortune of these families/groups, what could be the total share they could possibly have in BTC, looking at their fortune?
if market cap interests you then check how much bigger all the other market caps are compared to bitcoin then come back.
and again why do you assume someone has invested in bitcoin just to pull out suddenly and crash the market!!! that is not normal human behavior!

Quote
One collapse to destroy them all (financially)….
I think you are a bit confused about how manipulated altcoins with >90% of their supply controlled by a couple of people work compared to the well distributed and globally growing bitcoin.
3492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The pumping of "Forgotten coins"! on: June 09, 2017, 02:27:10 AM
yeah, I've noticed that too. it is the work of pump groups and it is really interesting to see how many newbies are following these pump groups and pour their money in their pockets easily!
it is a nice move for many though, because these nearly dead altcoins have a lot of miners who have billions of these coins in their bags for no reason which they gave up on but now they can dump it to get a nice amount of bitcoin.

and although it would be a risky move but you can always join in and make some profit if you can catch the train on 1 sat. rising from 1 to 5 is simply 400% profit! I'll do it with a small amount though.

I advise you just do not pay attention to it.

if you start that then you have to stay away from the altcoins altogether not just these specific coins!
3493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SNC] SunContract - Decentralized Energy Market on: June 09, 2017, 02:16:14 AM
Hello everyone,
we would like to apologize to community for few questions that we did not answer. We are really busy prepairing everything for the ICO and launch of the project. We are putting all the effort we can to start crowdsale at the end of June. Please stay tunned for more info on that matter.
We could really understand the amount of legal work and time it would take to get these sort of mega projects to work in real life and i think to get everything to work normally it does take some time and for that matter i think you guys could convince me and i assume that the delay is simply because they are waiting for some sort of paper work to be completed.

I think many suncontract developers can interact here casually, so it's not always limited to the discussion of announcements.
For developers, continue your work, we will continue to monitor and be a part of success in this program.
But the industrial practice must be assigning one or two devs for interacting with investors/end users as when many people are taking about company policies that may lead to unnecessary confusions and some times leading to unveil projects details than scheduled times. But having continuous interaction with us definitely bring good reputations building among investors. I guess suncontract team already doing this perfect.

but that is never easy.
specially when you are running a new project which needs a lot of work, then you will be busy all the time working out the details, the bugs, testing and all the rest of the things it takes to release the project and improve it. in time after release it will be better and less work can lead to being able to interact more though.
3494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Back to 2000$ on: June 08, 2017, 03:54:03 AM
It's funny how people directly come up with baseless predictions just because the price has gone down a bit. In current circumstances daily prices swings of $100-$200 are fairly normal -- definitely not something to be surprised/shocked about. People here are equally as volatile as the price is. If the price goes up, everything is fine for them, but if the price drops a bit, people lose all confidence. What a joke....

exactly!
this board has turned into a "guessing" and "FUD"ing board rather than being a speculation board with some analysis done. people just come here and share their wishes. sometimes it is wish to reach $5000 by the end of the week and sometimes it is reaching $100 by the same time!

so far as price goes, there is no reason for the drop apart from it being a correction at this point. because of that chance of $2000 is pretty low. worse case scenario we may see the dip continue to test $2600 bottom one more time
3495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum in 5 years on: June 08, 2017, 03:47:47 AM
you can never predict anything in 5 years specially with new technologies. if you ask me about bitcoin I will give you the same speech and it gets even worse when it comes to an altcoin with a lot of things broken in it. you are just looking at the price of it but I am seeing past that and in the underlying technology and all the problems it has. and then all the problems that the team (more like Vitalik) working on it has.
3496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alticoins competiting with ethereum would be worth putting eyes now. on: June 08, 2017, 03:35:30 AM
most of these projects are copycats so they will be doomed to fail. and don't forget that the only thing that ethereum is offering is a platform for smart contracts and for that there are a lot of projects out there some of which are even better.
some people is even saying RSK (rootstock) is going to kill all the rest soon and become the first thing everyone uses for that matter.

if any altcoin wants to succeed they have to compete with bitcoin and compete with it as a currency not as something like the rest of altcoins that gets pumped and certainly not in things such as market cap and price.
3497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs altcoins, will they survive? on: June 08, 2017, 03:28:48 AM
people treat altcoins very differently. and there are a lot of newbies who fall for the hype.
for the rest you can't really say which one is right and which one is not, everyone should find what is best for them and stick to that strategy.
I personally believe that at this point in time none of the altcoins is worth holding for long term because I have not yet found any altcoin that I can be sure of its future.
3498  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bittrex is a scam website - AVOID!- WITH PROOF!! on: June 07, 2017, 03:11:48 AM
If they are worth that much it is EASY to get away with this sort of shit.

1. bullshit auto response that makes absolutely no sense https://postimg.org/image/hpsrl3sg1/
2. https://postimg.org/image/se13xorsx/ -  look my account is disabled on my first ever try, well I better go verify my phone number and promptly resolve this issue
3. https://postimg.org/image/g0o9qs24h/- This is 100% without question the code.  I am not going to take a picture of me looking at the phone writing this down. Guess I can't verify, oh well how about fuck them and I'll simply take my money back
4. https://gyazo.com/1bc9e156c0a30211ec5f88b596f3501d Well fuck me again, how about I read about the disabled accounts on their page to find out why a month busting my ass in two jobs is being held up
5. https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000240791 Nothing, what about that? Shall I keep going?

when you try to log-in, change password, or in your case verify your account with that code in image #3 and fail the system automatically disables your account for at least 24 hours and that is true in all services because of security reasons.
and it is not even a couple of hours after your problem and you are already starting to call them scam!

with that said I am not defending bittrex, just saying your reasoning is flawed.
3499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AltCoin and Starting Base Informations ? on: June 07, 2017, 02:52:03 AM
majority of the altcoins don't have that market because there is no interest in it. people are interested in investing in bitcoin with their money and when they do, they find out about altcoins after a while and some of them decide to start trading them. that is why the BTC/ALT market is more popular.

however there are some altcoins that have the market with fiat. you can click on the name of the altcoins in that list and visit the page that comes up. then go to the Markets tab and use your browser search (Ctrl+F) for finding "eur" markets.
like this: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/#markets
and they are mostly available in Kraken.
3500  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bittrex is a scam website - AVOID! on: June 07, 2017, 02:46:47 AM
you are the first person to say something like this!
and I have been using bittrex for over 2 years now without any problems with anything like what you just described.

It's called selective scamming, not everyone posts on forums, they just think oh well coins. These are the facts and I am so pissed off as people have said yeah sure this is a good site to use. Do you want pictures?

sorry that you are experiencing this but I really doubt a website with 200 million dollar daily volume is scamming one randomly selected user for some amount and risk ruining their reputation.
in any case I can't make a judgment without knowing all the facts, it is possible that the site had its reasons for doing what they did.

how long has it been since you contacted support?
what coin did you deposit? was it bitcoin? is it possible the coins were tainted, like coming from some darkmarket or something?
was it an altcoin? was it an altcoin that had a 51% attack recently?

and if it was a normal deposit of bitcoin and they blocked your account and never answered back (at least wait a couple of days), and your problem was unsolved then open a proper scam accusation here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0 instead of this board.
