3501  Other / Meta / Re: Please remove the Digital Goods section on: April 04, 2015, 08:33:16 AM
If I can say my opinion, I don't think it's necessary to remove digital goods section. In that child board there are a lot of trusted sellers, if you find something of illegal then report it to a triated member in the default trust list (like tomatocage, vod, quickseller...) and they can warn the other users with a simple negative trust (left) to that user.
3502  Economy / Lending / Re: searching for loans with low interest on: April 03, 2015, 10:52:08 PM
I'm searching for loans with low interest.
Any amount from 0.1 mBTC to 5 BTC is welcome
interest : 0.10% / day (0.1 mBTC - 1 BTC)
             0.15% / day (1.0 BTC - 5.0 BTC)

loans taken

min. duration: 1/2 day
max. duration: 1 month
Can you provide some valid collateral ? Like your forum account?

With his account he wont get more than 0.04 loan...
So o dont know how he is asking for that kind of amount.
That's still 400 times the min. amount of loan i take... But can I keep access to my account in that case?

No, if u provide ur account as collateral then u could not acces to it until u repay the full loan.
Then I'm not interested. Unless it will be for a larger amount than 0.04 BTC but I don't think that's applicable. I prefer no collateral for small loans and a SEPA transfer collateral for larger amounts

Wait, if you have money .. why don't you buy some bitcoin? Register on kraken.com  make a FIAT deposit (euros) and after buy some btc. It is really insane give euros as collateral for bitcoin...

3504  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World powers, Iran reach framework for nuke deal by June 30 on: April 03, 2015, 10:20:57 PM
Iranians celebrated in the streets after negotiators reached a framework for a nuclear accord and U.S. President Barack Obama hailed an "historic understanding", but senior global diplomats cautioned that hard work lies ahead to strike a final deal. The tentative agreement, struck on Thursday after eight days of talks in Switzerland, clears the way for a settlement to allay Western fears that Iran could build an atomic bomb, with economic sanctions on Tehran being lifted in return.

It marks the most significant step toward rapprochement between Washington and Tehran since the 1979 Iranian revolution and could bring an end to decades of Iran's international isolation. But the deal still requires experts to work out difficult details before a self-imposed June deadline and diplomats said it could collapse at any time before then.

3505  Other / New forum software / Re: Can we "Like" a post? on: April 03, 2015, 07:36:55 PM
i'm with it on this, it could also reduce some spams, many post that start with agree and add unnecessary things, just to make them look alright, would no longer be needed

Or maybe the post with more "thanks" "like" will be highlighted respect the others and if someone is searching for an information, he can find it more faster and easier than now. What do you think guys? Is it a good or bad idea?
3506  Economy / Economics / Re: Online service for tracing large wallets on: April 03, 2015, 07:29:56 PM
I need a tool that would trace large wallets for bitcoins (and dogecoins) through the blockchain. Is there an online service which does just that (and sorts the wallets by the amount in them)? Or should I program it myself if there is none?

I can suggest you this site : http://www.walletexplorer.com/  but I think they can trace only bitcoin and not the other altcoins (try and tell me if you have find what that you were searching).
3507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Really End World Poverty? on: April 03, 2015, 07:25:50 PM
No, I don't think bitcoin can end the world poverty. Because bitcoin as we know today it is only a pure speculation but it has created a lot of opportunity to a lot of person. I think when all this speculation will terminate, the value will stabilize (also to 50-100 dollars) and we can start to bitcoin from another point of view.

Now bitcoin is only a valid and good alternative for send large quantity of money (for example) to our relatives or parents in another country, without use WU, moneygram or other money transmitter.

Now, when you order your plastic Advanced Cash MasterCard, you can specify a delivery address that is different from your verified address. It's a great opportunity to get our MasterCard if you are traveling, have recently moved, or just prefer the card to go elsewhere.

I don't work for them.

Hi everybody, my name is Andrew and I will be happy to answer all your questions about Advanced Cash.

So far I see the usual question about Bitcoin funding commission Smiley You can always see our rate in the header of www.advcash.com. We feel showing the rate instead of a % that the user needs to calculate on their own is just easier for our customers. Every Bitcoin business has their own rate, BitPay, Coinbase, Kraken, Exmo, and so do we. I believe it is a competitive rate especially if you take into account our other low fees and how cheap the plastic MasterCard is ($4.99 if ordered within a week from registration).

As for the card transactions, just go to your history and click a transaction you want to know about. A popup with details will appear, and you will see the commission, if any. POS card purchases in USD are free, non-USD purchases mean a 2% currency conversion fee. This information is available at http://advcash.com/solutions/card/.

Post your questions here or hit me up to talk about Advanced Cash:

3510  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-04-03] UBS to Open Blockchain Innovation Lab in London on: April 03, 2015, 04:34:05 PM
Giant Swiss bank UBS is planning to investigate blockchain technology in a new innovation lab based in London, FInextra reports. The innovation lab, located in Level39’s high growth space, HighGrowth:42, will explore the role of blockchain technology in financial services.

UBS, a Swiss global financial services company with its headquarters in Basel and Zürich, Switzerland, provides investment banking, asset management and wealth management services for private, corporate, and institutional clients worldwide. Operating in more than 50 countries with about 60,000 employees around the world, UBS is the biggest Swiss bank and is considered as the world’s largest manager of private wealth assets, with more than 2.2 trillion Swiss francs (CHF) in invested assets.

Established by Canary Wharf Group plc, Level39 is Europe’s largest technology accelerator space for finance, cyber-securities, retail and future cities technology companies. Six months after launching in March 2013, Level39 opened the High Growth Space: 42 on the 42nd floor of One Canada Square.

“By establishing a dedicated innovation lab at Level 39 we are moving away from a purely in-house innovation strategy, optimizing collaboration opportunities with the growing FinTech business, startup and investor community in an open and transparent way,” said UBS Group CIO Oliver Bussmann. “Our innovation lab at Level39 will provide a unique platform to explore emerging technologies such as blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and to understand the potential impact for the industry.”

“The UBS team have already established their credentials at Level39 over the last two years through mentoring alongside other leading experts at various accelerator programs,” said Eric Van der Kleij, Head of Level39, Canary Wharf Group. “Oliver Bussmann’s bold public statements and vision about the future of finance show that UBS is an organization that is genuinely determined to transform and thrive in a new world of finance.”

3512  Other / Politics & Society / China evacuates foreign nationals from Yemen in unprecedented move on: April 03, 2015, 03:21:51 PM
A Chinese naval frigate has evacuated 225 foreign citizens from strife-torn Yemen, its foreign ministry said, marking the first time that China's military has helped other countries evacuate their people during an international crisis. Ten different nationalities were among the evacuees picked up on Thursday afternoon from Aden, Yemen's second city, and transported to Djibouti, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on its website late Thursday.
...
Violence has been spreading across Yemen since last year, when Iran-backed Shi'ite Houthi fighters seized the capital, Sanaa, and effectively removed President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. A Saudi-led coalition has hit the rebels with air strikes over the past week. A state television report on Friday showed evacuees, who were mostly Pakistani, arriving in Djibouti.

"We are really thankful to the Chinese government, who really helped us, and took us out (with) the school children," one woman told China Central Television. The broadcaster showed footage young children stepping off a Chinese warship waving Chinese flags, and in one case, kissing a seaman on the cheek. The evacuation of foreigners bolsters China's image at home and abroad, according to Shen Dingli, an international relations professor at Fudan University in Shanghai.

"We wouldn't look very good if we have the capacity to help others but no heart to do it," Shen said.  "Now we look really good," he added.

3513  Other / Meta / Re: DDoS on: April 03, 2015, 12:57:18 PM
It is a DDOS attack, do you know how it works? Multiply request to the site at the site time (you cannot stop the attack with a simple block to one or two ip).

It'd be possible to block certain IP ranges known to be used frequently in DDoS attacks, such as most of China for example. However, this would also affect some users who use anonymity services to access Bitcointalk and I'm guessing this is why theymos hasn't taken this kind of action already as he doesn't want to limit access and limit anonymity online, which is a good thing for sure but does come at this kind of price.

I have read this article (http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/it-security/ddos-attack-methods-and-how-to-prevent-or-mitigate-them/):

The easiest, although a costly way to defend yourself, is to buy more bandwidth. A denial of service is a game of capacity. If you have 10,000 systems sending 1 Mbps your way that means you're getting 10 Gb of data hitting your server every second. That's a lot of traffic. In this case, the same rules apply as for normal redundancy. You want more servers, spread around various datacenters, and you want to use good load balancing. Having that traffic spread out to multiple servers will help the load, and hopefully your pipes will be large enough to handle all that traffic. But modern DDoS attacks are getting insanely large, and quite often can be much bigger than what your finances will allow in terms of bandwidth. Plus, sometimes it's not your website that will be targeted, a fact that many administrators tend to forget.

so it is not so easy to prevent or stop a ddos attack, and theymos took the right choice and changed the IP.

Thanks anyway.
3515  Other / New forum software / Re: New rank? on: April 03, 2015, 12:25:35 PM
don't know if that would be a good idea.. those bright names would make the site looks too colorful.
some doesn't like that, I'm sure.
Maybe the staff can choose another scheme of colors, my previous posts was only an "idea" but the colors can easily change.

Being able to differentiate between ranks and/or staff by colours or something else wouldn't be a bad idea. As far it being too colourful or flashy I don't think it'd be any more intrusive that signatures or avatars.

Yes of course, the colorful ranks will not be more intrusive than the various signatures or "avatar" so I think it would be a very great choice.
3516  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [BIT-X] Signature Campaign - Discussion on: April 03, 2015, 10:42:37 AM
How does that work? We change our avatar to something related to Bit X and add a link bellow?

I think (if marcotheminer will start also the avatar campaign) we should add something like that :

A normal bit-x to the right side of ours avatar but I don't know the rates per week or month.

3518  Economy / Services / Re: Avatar campaign - sell your avatar and earn some bitcoin. on: April 03, 2015, 10:04:14 AM
0.15 BTC/week

Good rate, I think avatar campaign is more powerful than signature campaign. 0.15 btc or higher rate for hero member is ideal.

I don't really think you will get that kind of rates atm. One of the biggest reason, is, it is not clickable. Second is if a lot of members wear the same brand logo, it will annoy other users. And it may not bring good publicity to it.

But there are ways in which it could be done and kept under control, but then the efficacy will go down.

I think the OP will pay (if he will choose to start the avatar campaign) the same rate for Full member and above, essentially because they can put the same avatar so there is not a real difference between the ranks... or am I wrong?
I agree with you, the avatar is not clickable but it will be the same effect of the tv ads. Here the important will be the views not the clicks and I don't think the staff will be against this option (but the final choice is from the admin).
3519  Other / New forum software / Re: New rank? on: April 03, 2015, 09:56:24 AM
As time goes on new ranks will likely be added as and when needed. There's not that many Legendary accounts at the moment but in a year or so it'll likely be a different story so I'm sure a higher rank will be added then (or the activity limit to become Legendary could be raised).
FTFY.
Well the would be okay if we weren't getting a expensive forum. Adding ranks to this one would be okay, just as it was when Legendary was introduced. A revamp of the whole feature would be great, since the one that we have here is pretty much boring (the stars..).

I know we have already discussed about the rank's color and I think it will be easy to add this option. Each rank has an own color, for example :

newbie
jr. member
member
Sr. member
Hero
Legendary
Staff

Or something like that, so the write under the username will be of that color and it can also protect "against" the fake users (that are trying to scam).
