I enjoy it personally, but yeah, it has taken over my life. If you're in it for the longrun then maybe going a way for a while would be a good idea if you can stick to it, but can you?
I don't have any problems with the "going away for a while" part. I am just saying that you should at least occasionally check and secure your wallets... and may be you should check the exchange rates and the major news articles. Also, post here occasionally. I think you can "go away for a while" and still keep an eye on the markets. Just check them a few times a week or whatnot. You can always check your balances on the blockchain / scan QR codes, but it wont make no difference if they've somehow gone walkies haha. Personally I don't need to check the markets every day because I'm hoarding my coins for the long run. I do want to make some more by selling shit though, and also you can make coins on here from sig adverts, so it pays to keep on top of the crypto world and contribute to this site. Plus I haven't got anything better to be doing right now, so it's not a fuss . but that's the problem.. people are getting addicted to reading/checking the markets. they fall off the wagon if they check the price, because there will be that impulse to keep doing it. i am kind of sick of it at this point, so once i hit my quota, i'm going to take a break.

Price corrections are growing pains as Bitcoin is being adopted its naturally finding more hands which will reduce volatility, at $10,000 Bitcoin will be far more stable then it is currently.
maybe, but i still think it'll be extremely volatile, when compared to other currencies or assets. bitcoin's pro is also its con.. there's no insurance, and at any day the infrastructure can crash. then again, because of this nature, it can also zoom to another galaxy and hit 6 digits one day too.

yes, i think litecoin has a place.. but as of now, i consider it a purely speculative asset. BTC is speculative too, but it has much more infrastructure and support from its holders.
i think litecoin will have value once or if bitcoin gets so big that there's enough room for another player.

also another reason: you did not have a plan to cover taxes. i haven't even owned my coins for a year yet too.

on bitcointalk.org, everyone is a superpro genius economist/investor.. until they are not.

kissing a politician on the ass is the same as kissing them on their mouth. you are putting your lips where a lot of shit comes out of.
if the price crashes like this, it should be good news for the OP since he can get more bitcoins for his money.. but now he's had a change of heart.
i guess you can't really say that there is no authority that controls bitcoin.. it's the exchanges and pump and dumpers who control where it goes, or doesnt.
like ^ said, why would they listen to foreigners? china don't give a fuck, they are going to do what they want to. and kissing ass doesn't do shit, only buying out does.
either my limited number of bitcoins are going to provide me with a comfortable lifestyle for a few years, or i'm going to end up with pennies on the dollar.. but i'm going to stick with this until the end.

we are not even close to $200 yet. we might get there, but it's already been stated that the FBI will auction DPR's BTC. it won't be sold on an exchange, where the price changes.
the same thing that causes every crash: people panicking due to what is perceived as bad news. there is a lot to learn from every rally and crash.. it seems like a lot of people were expecting it to crash, which is an indicator of the lack of confidence that $1,000 would be steady.

i think it will bottom out at $600. if i had any fiat, i'd spend a few on buying some coins there. then again, i could be wrong.
I think it will go lower due to no new money coming in during the weekend. $400-ish is looking very likely. lol, well it took 30 minutes to prove me wrong. we are now sub $600 i'm in this for the long haul though.. so it's not a huge deal, except that i spent $400 for .5 BTC recently. i don't think we'll get close to the ATH for a while if it drops to the 400's.
i will probably have to do this myself. when you're reading things and checking the price all day, it takes your attention away from.. you know, living your life.

Where art thou oh saviors of bitcoin?? I need some assurance!! I put in all my savings a few weeks ago when BTC was $680... it almost doubled and now im back in the negative and it's falling FAST!! Should I panic? Anyone selling? My gut tells me to just hold it but I have the worst luck with money and investing so i dunno... Im afraid im gonna lose everything like I did in the stock market. Im sooo glad i didnt invest my dad's money in it. Fuck what the hell is going on?? I wish Max would talk about bitcoins again Do not panic. That's what the masses do and screw the currencies. Just have patience. Bitcoin has had the same situation some months ago. Just sit on your bitcoins. In 2 months you'll be rich. or in 2 weeks you'll have lost more money. no one knows what's going to happen, and anyone who pretends to is just fooling you. in this game, you are the one to make your bed.

Okay....so BTC is never "recycled" in any way when you sell the BTC. What does it mean to be "on the block chain" ? Thx gurus.
if you sell your BTC, you will transfer it out to someone else's wallet. what that means is that the person who buys the BTC will have the private key to access where the BTC is inside the blockchain.

cool. i'm quitting my job at the end of this month, and i'm heading out a bit myself.. but it's more for meditation. keeping up with the status quo won't work for me either. i rahter find what i enjoy doing, and do it.. instead of being a zombie at a job that i despise.

so BTC's crashed down to as low as $680 at this point.. i guess the parade has been rained on? i don't think it kept above $1,000 for more than 5 days. if it keeps dropping, i'm not sure if people would be in the mood to get drunk and party.

at least if you go to bars, you should ask them to accept bitcoins. im in the LA area, and i don't even think 1 bar accepts bitcoins.. which is ridiculous, because a lot of meetup groups could use them as a base for their meetings. that's just free business right there.
