It hurts though, I mean I was this close to getting her to be mine. She was out of town 3 days ago(Friday), she was coming back, and that's when I blurted out something. I told her something, but she was fine, she said "OK". However, literally just 2-3 minutes later, she wanted us to remain just friends. And I was this close to our first date, first kiss and everything.

What did you say??
Yeah, how could he write what happened and avoided the only part needed to understand the story?
3522  Other / Meta / Re: "Important announcements"?! on: June 18, 2013, 07:50:06 AM
This is why I disagree with VIPs being allowed to post there, but ultimately theymos made the call on this that this was acceptable.
I never went there before, I just did and I'm kind of disappointed of what I'm seeing
So I can't agree more...

By useless I mean: '+1', 'yeah', 'good idea', etc
I don't condone useless posts but I think a tiny proportion of such posts can be tolerated
Except if you are displaying ads in your sig IMO, so the idea is to make this strictly forbidden: deletion of posts, then PM warning, then ban even if they are not spamming

Pretty sure theymos said that should be treated as spam. Just try report to moderator.
I never did because the amount of tolerance towards such posts seems high here. I'll try to do it now.

If it annoys you, just install ad-block and make a rule for the signatures to block them. Since only a couple of people do it at the moment and they do it with very distinctive colours and codes this should be easy.

No need for that.
Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> Don't show users' signatures.
The problem is that some signatures are useful and link to things I'd never look at by myself.
I don't know if it's popular and if it would be easy to implement (I think so) but a list of ignored signatures would be nice.
3524  Other / Meta / Re: Spamming to get the Hero status and get trust on: June 18, 2013, 07:29:47 AM
or theres these Guys that get paid to pollute the Forum with as many Post as possible, because of the Ad's.

but the Reg Date is indeed an Indicator for trhustworthiness in Combination with the new Reputation Function.
I posted another thread about the ads problem: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=236572.0

And yes, registration date is a small indicator when used with posts count and trust. That makes 3 info instead of only 1. (except on market subforum where trust is displayed too)
Obviously it is not a good indicator, but 3 is better than 1

If people looked through posts, this problem of spamming for hero status wouldn't be a problem  Undecided

That, or posting volume. Unless you are Satoshi or Gavin, there are only so many insightful comments one can make in a day.
Posting volume is not a good idea either as you can quote a wall of text and just put +1

If theymos wants to leave the past count displayed I really think he should display registration date next to it

this user just posts another user's post verbatim, or quotes them and adds "+1", "this", etc.
Wow, the banhammer is underused nowadays
Can you imagine trying to moderate this pit of depravity? It's not a case of sorting the wheat from the chaff, its a case of wiping sticky bits of shite off the wheat and chaff and they're expected to do it for free. At least buy the poor bastards a beer for their troubles when they get an annoying bit.
Don't get me wrong it was not a criticism at all
I often post in scammy threads that are deleted by the time I click on Reply, so I know they are doing a great job
3527  Other / Meta / Re: Forbidding useless posts when user has a paid signature on: June 17, 2013, 04:04:12 PM
Edit: I do think a tiny proportion of such posts can be tolerated
The point was about when it's more than tiny or if the user has ads in his signature

Not at all is a valid proposal too though, far better than the current mess
3528  Other / Meta / Re: Who is responsible for this forum? cause i need to tell u something! on: June 17, 2013, 03:59:11 PM
I think theymos already doesn't have enough time to deal with his own businesses so save him some time: contact other users and make them post here any proof, opinion, thought they would have

Well: "La donne est mobile."

Or the more frequently used, but far less elegant: "Girls flake" Wink
You mean "La donna è mobile "?

I could very well mean that as I only ever use the expression in spoken language Smiley.

I always figured it was French. La donne (the lady) est (is) mobile (changeable). French classes have been a while ago but I can't recall the meaning of è.
Google gives me this Italian result: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_donna_%C3%A8_mobile
Also, "donne" doesn't mean anything related to women and "mobile" rather means something like "movable" in French

You seem to be correct, it's Italian. Further "donne" is present as "dame" in the French language so I figured it was 'old French or something and I imagine 'movable' meaning 'changeable' in a language is pretty common.

Anyway it's a nice phrase to utter when a female friend is being inconsistent (which occurs often Smiley)
The French sentence for this is "Souvent femme varie, bien fol est qui s'y fie". And that is some old French.  Wink

By the way, I can't agree more
