I'm a cricket fan who doesn't really follow the IPL all that much as I'm more of a traditional cricket fan and prefer test match cricket. But in the future I may come and try it out as I get used to the teams in the IPL as I don't know much about them even in my country Australia, I don't really follow the BBL as it just doesn't appeal to me. Anyway good luck with your pool and hopefully more people will join.

Nothing wrong in following test cricket. I used to watch a lot of test matches during my college days, but it is no longer possible now. Back then I had plenty of free time. But now I have a full time job, and kids to take care of. But I agree with you to a certain limit. The excitement that we get from watching the Ashes or the Border–Gavaskar Trophy, is much higher than what we get from the IPL or the BBL. Test cricket is the complete package. We get to watch all the aspects of cricket such as defensive batting, building of partnerships.etc. T20 format is more monotonous, with batsmen trying to hit the ball out of the park all the time.

If they have such a organized process in place for the selection of chairman for ICC, why some people complain that incompetent people are selected on this seat or politics is involved in selection. Aren't this process transparent ?

The voting process was changed a few years ago. Before that, there were only 12 votes in total and powerful boards could indirectly "bribe" the smaller boards by offering them cricket tours. After the elevation of Afghanistan and Ireland, the situation changed. It became difficult for the larger boards to dictate terms by bribing two or three smaller boards. Now 9 votes are needed for a majority.
3523  Economy / Economics / Re: CHINA WILL CUT HOLDINGS OF U.S TREAS FROM CURRENT ABOVE $1T TO ABOUT $800B on: September 10, 2020, 10:04:34 AM
I don't think this is about disputed territories and China being aggressive to other nations at all. Even if China adds more money on the US pot today all while bullying other nations in which US has keen interests on, the US would still compete with them on border issues and protecting other nations whenever possible since these nations are where they are getting the most benefits from. China and Russia have been interested in gold bullion for some time now due to it being the best possible investment for the money, and perhaps that's where some of China's money went after pulling out some $200B on US treasury bonds.

Russia added around 1,300 tonnes of gold to their reserves during the last six years. The figures from China are not available, as they are not transparent in these aspects. My guess is that they are turning to gold because no amount of sanctions and embargoes can impact the gold holdings. That is not the case with holdings of United States Treasury Bonds. Anyway, rise in gold prices have been immensely beneficial for these two countries.

You are right . If the bowling action is flawless . then the chances of getting injure are much less . Again , not all players  fitness is the same . Some players fitness is good ,again some players fitness is average level . They have to working hard for better fitness .Many potential players have ended their careers due to fitness issue and injuries.

Javagal Srinath was the backbone of Indian pace attack during the 1990s. When he was at his peak, a rotator-cuff injury forced him out of playing for almost a year (in 1997). His team-mates such as Venkatesh Prasad, Debashish Mohanty and Ajit Agarkar also faced frequent injury outages. However, during the last two decades, such incidents among Indian bowlers have remained rare. Players such as Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel and Irfan Pathan missed very few matches due to injury.
3525  Economy / Economics / Re: PornHub now accepts Bitcoin and Litecoin (News coincides with BTC decline?) on: September 10, 2020, 05:57:18 AM
Well exactly, and any time a new merchant comes online, which increases the use case or at the very least doesn’t shrink it, there would only be upward pressure at best and no change at worse. So I’m baffled by the question that the two would be linked. It doesn’t make supply and demand sense.

If we talk about supply/demand relations, then we would have noticed a spike after May 2020, as a result of the block reward halving. The spike didn't occurred then. A small spike was noticed during August, but again after one month the exchange rates went down. It looks to me that whales are manipulating the exchange rates to some extent. Any impact from Pornhub should be minuscule.
3526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It is not easy to make money in cryptocurrency on: September 10, 2020, 05:47:46 AM
The problem occurs when you get greedy and go after little known coins and tokens with shady credentials. Those who had invested in established coins (Bitcoin, Ethereum, and even BCH and ADA) have got anywhere from 200% to 1,000% returns during the last one and half years. Obviously some of the noobs are not satisfied with this much returns, and want 100x or 200x returns. They will invest in scam projects and in the end will lose all of their capital.
3527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 10, 2020, 05:35:20 AM
One of the biggest problem of a fast blowler is injuries and to avoid injuries they become medium pacer which generally ends the career. Very few fast bowlers have been able to consistently throw balls above 85 mph till the end of their career.

This guys was throwing above 90mph which will surely will result in injuries.

If the bowling action is flawless, then the chance of getting an injury will be low. Curtly Ambrose (the legendary fast bowler from Antigua) constantly bowled at around 90 mph, and he never had any major injury problem. The same goes for Shoiab Akhtar as well. That said, I am not very optimistic about the future of Nagarkoti. I hope that he will be able to fully recover, unlike some of the other bowlers.

Investors are not so stupid to follow the obvious scam project but when you were asking them all directly and they will say they wanna try to make instant bucks from their money and that's why they were taking the super high risk project like ponzi finance project. You can't call them who created those scam ponzi as the developers but they are all scammers.

They know what they have already created and their intention to grab money.

Agreed. Users need to admit that what happened in 2017 was a one-time bubble. I have seen a lot of experienced people investing in over-priced and shady ICOs, despite their projections being very unrealistic. There is nothing wrong in investing in new projects. But first the investor should study whether the project is viable and also whether the valuation is correct.
3529  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: September 10, 2020, 05:10:18 AM
I reckon your analysis is on the wrong way hehe. I predict that Trump will win the electoral college and make him the rightful winner, however, the popular vote will be for Biden. The Democrats will then not accept their loss and continue the riots and barricade their own communities.

Why you are assuming this? Last time, Hillary Clinton received almost 3 million votes more than Trump and still accepted defeat. Because Trump won thanks to the electoral college. Grass root democrats were unhappy, but as far as I know there was no rioting or vandalism. On the other hand, I am not sure whether Trump will accept the same, if he loses the election.

It was a very different situation back in 2016. The people were also not encouraged to riot and to support the call for defund the police hehehe.

What can Trump do if he is not rightfully the winner under the electoral college? He cannot legally stay in the white house. The guards will force him out because he is not the commander in chief anymore hehehe.

As Vishnu.Reang pointed out in one of the previous posts, this time the counting is going to be very complex. More than half of the votes will be from mailed out ballots. Unlike the previous elections, the winner this time won't be declared for many days after the elections. This can obviously result in allegations of fraud, similar to what happened during the 2008 United States Senate election in Minnesota.
3530  Economy / Economics / Re: In COVID-19 everyone needs motivation on: September 10, 2020, 05:00:25 AM
Living a life like this is really stressful and it is not that impossible for us to feel any unproductiveness.

Nowadays, people are just staying at home and waiting for a job where they can work for just to sustain their needs. Businesses are closed, they are not allowed to operate and chosen type of businesses are only operating due to the risks of getting the disease in an open store or establishments.

This pandemic also gives me worrisome problem that can destroy my mental health and happiness during this quarantine, there are a lot of opportunities wasted.

Obviously there are some problems arising as a result of this pandemic, but it is very much possible to take care of them. I am working from home for the last six months, and I have faced some challenges due to this. But I was able to get around. All that said, working from home has been beneficial for me till now. I was able to spend more time with my family, and my expenses (travel, snacks.etc) have gone down quite a bit.
3531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 10, 2020, 04:50:13 AM
~snip~
and the other two are Indra Nooyi and Manu Sawhney.
Do Independent director and chief executive take part in voting process? Not sure about Independent director but Chief executive doesn't has any say in voting.

Manu Sawhney doesn't have voting rights as per this article:

https://www.hindustantimes.com/cricket/icc-board-meet-nomination-process-for-next-chairman-is-primary-agenda/story-IlcYdUUj9AdfOS24UQUhYK.html

That means that there are 16 votes available and 9 is needed for a simple majority. The only contenders as of now are Colin Graves of ECB and Dave Cameron of CWI. Although Cameron was the former president of CWI, they have issued a statement saying that the CWI will be favoring Graves for the post. If the election is held now, Graves will be easily elected with a simple majority and that explains the desperation from Ehsan Mani.
3532  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID-19 Impact on the Indian Economy on: September 10, 2020, 04:40:26 AM
China stats cannot be relied on totally, we'll never know exactly how many died there.   Its very likely more then reported, because communism does not respect independence in reporting either.     India is not entirely free, no country has a perfect freedom score as I think there is even a yearly examination and comparison of freedom across countries and I dont remember reading of any perfect country.
This isnt the first major flu illness to hit China, I remember reading over 1 million deaths occurred from '68 onwards from influenza A (H3N2) and we've heard a few times recently of other strains.   They have some practise on this issue where as I cannot remember anything this deadly being common in most western countries and it could be similar in India.   A difference in culture more then politics, most of the deaths avoided will be down to self caution by the people imo.

So far as economic impact, I'm still not clear every day I watch the news whether we can at least draw a line under 2020 and say it'll improve considerably afterwards or is this now a reoccurring threat and the strain mutates and spreads newly every year as we know the cold and flu can easily do.    If thats the case its India and every where that has to adapt to changes forever.   I'm not clear if thats true and I'm not sure which country or culture will best adapt and make do with the necessary changes.

It may be possible to hide the number of infections. But it will be very hard to hide the number of dead, no matter how much authoritarian they are. I still believe that the number of deaths from COVID 19 in China is somewhere near the figures published by the government. And regarding the number of infections, the undercount can be seen in all the countries, and not just in China.
3533  Economy / Economics / Re: In COVID-19 everyone needs motivation on: September 09, 2020, 05:55:13 AM
I don't know what motivation is needed for those who have lost loved ones due to this virus. At least in the near future, it will be difficult to accept. Everything else is not so sad and positive aspects can be found in everything. Those who have lost their jobs have an incentive to find additional income on the Internet, those who have long dreamed of being with their family - now is the perfect moment. In the end, the biggest plus is that nature will take a break from human intervention and people themselves will rethink their attitude to it.

I have always said this. If someone loses his job, it is his fault. People need to enhance their knowledge, by learning new skills which are useful in the job market. I know people who have been doing the same job for 30 or 40 years continuously. Even they need to realize that their jobs are not secure. Learning never stops and it helps you to get an advantage in the job market when compared to others.
3534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Never give up on: September 09, 2020, 05:45:07 AM
I agree, for every 10 scam projects there maybe one legit project. But that one legit project maybe enough to makeup for all the scam projects. Keep researching and find the gems.

That may be true. But for that, at least 10% of the bounties should give rewards to the bounty hunters. But the current success rate is extremely low, and it can be as low as 4% or 5%. That means that if you work on 20 or 25 bounty campaigns, you may get good rewards from one campaign. It can depend on luck as well. There can be cases when a particular user participates in 50 campaigns and still goes unrewarded.
3535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BBC Sports Personality 2020 on: September 09, 2020, 05:35:14 AM
Who do you think will win the award? It seems that Tyson Fury is the likeliest winner. He's been favorite for this award since February, and he's still holding the status. Would you call putting some mbtc on him a safe bet?
If it is a fair selection then Tyson Fury should get the BCC sports personality of the year as he returned after a long hiatus after struggling with mental issues and substance abuse and then return and defeated Wilder who many considered to be one of the heaviest puncher of all time and to defeat him in a dominating fashion and bring eyes back to boxing Tyson Fury should get that honors.

Fury would be an excellent choice. But normally the jury have a tendency to overlook the boxers. Ever since the award was introduced in 1954, only five times it has gone to the boxers. Last winner was Joe Calzaghe of Wales, who won the award in 2007. But I am not sure whether he is eligible for the award or not. Although he was born in Manchester, in international competitions he represents the Republic of Ireland. Anyway, since the odds are favoring him I don't think this is a big issue.
3536  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID-19 Impact on the Indian Economy on: September 09, 2020, 05:25:22 AM
COVID-19 effects India too much as compare to other countries behind the reason is that much populations and not well economic level. through this pandemic lot of people became a jobless. it will take 5,6 years to recover again.

It will not take 5 years. India will be on at least end of 2019 levels by end of 2022, but probably much faster. They started taking covid-19 seriously and are testing a lot. After initial shock they will be fine.

I guess they will be fine in 6 months time, or at the most within a year. A recent study concluded that Indian cities such as Mumbai and Delhi may achieve herd immunity by December end or by January next year. If that happens, then COVID 19 would cease to be a major concern. But that doesn't mean that the economy may rebound immediately after January. It may take a few more months.
3537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH's fees on "De-Fi" platforms are ridiculously high on: September 09, 2020, 05:15:13 AM
In general, the trend of investing in DeFi projects is attracting a lot of big investors, so the $100 fee is probably a small thing for them.

Also, those coins are very easy to increase in price and can be x2 or x3 in just a short time so that is enough for them to make a huge profit. I hope that Ethereum 2.0 will fix this problem soon as the high gas fees also make me feel very uncomfortable when trading.

This is like the shittiest justification I have seen. As far as I know, a majority of those who invest in the DeFi projects are small and medium sized investors. Do you want to limit the DeFi projects just for the uber-rich? And also, what makes you think that the rich may not complain about the ultra-high transaction fee? And do you guarantee that the coins will go up by 2x or 3x, as you have written. In such case people would not bother much about the fee. Seriously, some of the newbs in this forum seems to be suffering from "foot in mouth disease".
3538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 09, 2020, 05:05:20 AM
Sachin is the worst choice and if i dare to say one of the shitty administrator, he can't even make into top 50 contenders list for iCC chief or any administrator post for that matter.

That is surprising. I don't have much information about what he is doing after his retirement. But I read that he served as a member of parliament for sometime and therefore thought that he may be having some administration experience. In case Sachin is not suitable for the job, we still have a number of ex-players who can be considered. First one comes to my mind right now is Kumar Sangakkara.
3539  Economy / Economics / Re: What profit has brought you to bitcoin? on: September 09, 2020, 04:54:26 AM
I still regret my decision to ignore Bitcoin, when I first heard about it in 2011. One of my Ukrainian friends asked me whether he can pay me in Bitcoin for some freelancing work that I did for him. I replied that I want the money in PayPal and not as Bitcoin. I took it seriously only in 2012. If I had started collecting BTC in 2011, then I would have been in a much better financial condition now.
3540  Economy / Economics / Re: Can legalisation of Cannabis help US economy? on: September 09, 2020, 04:34:21 AM
Cannabis legalization could help the U.S. economy because global climate change has had an impact on the U.S. The country's agriculture is in danger. Once known as the bread basket of the Middle East the country's farmers are now unable to cope with the changing climate and have resorted to cannabis cultivation to alleviate the economic woes. The government is trying to legalize cannabis considering the country's economic situation as it is possible to cultivate it in drought prone weather and relatively low water. since the cultivation of Gaza has not yet been legalized it will pose a great risk to them.

USA is so huge that climate change will not damage its agriculture much. They will just move it elsewhere, if on some areas will be to hot and plant there plants that need less water. Climate change will be devastating for smaller countries. Well not devastating. But will demand for them big changes to take.

Wow! Do you think that it is that easy to abandon established farms and re-establish them elsewhere? Most of the farms in the United States have seen heavy investments, in terms of equipment, precision leveling.etc. Not all of these investments can be shifted and some needs to be abandoned. It is going to be a very costly exercise. Also, if the farms need to be setup in the interior areas, a lot of the national parks and national reserves needs to be reclassified to make land available.
