3561  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another Halving, Another ATH on: May 03, 2021, 10:32:12 AM
Ethereum is running higher and now selling at $3,160 , other altccoins doing some increase ,it happened that way in 2017 .
Bitcoin halving brought the new bullish period for crypto market. Ethereum is a follower of Bitcoin on the market but it is a leader for altcoins.
  • Bitcoin: leader of crypto market.
  • Ethereum: leader of altcoin market.

From which, you can expect a blossom of altcoins in coming months. Top altcoins will retest (at least) their 2018 or 2017 ATHs and strong altcoins will make their new all time highs in this year (or next year ?).

It is my speculation, choose one or a few to buy at good entry prices, then hold (for 2017-2018 ATH retest) or new ATHs.

Warnings
  • It is only good as investments
  • It is not applied for leverage trades, gambling. Your greediness will kill you (by liquidations from exchanges)
  • Along the ride of altcoins, you will see many market massacres, with Cascade effects along the journey
  • Generally, take care, control your greediness, and good luck
3562  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hotbit crypto exchange has been hacked on: May 03, 2021, 10:25:44 AM
So far so good and I, of course, wish that Hotbit will be back to their normal operations with fully functions and funds of customers all are in safe.

Fortunately for people who store their crypto in Hotbit accounts but please take this accident to learn something.
3563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffett Agrees That Bitcoin Is "Disgusting" on: May 02, 2021, 11:53:49 AM
Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are for younger generations and I don't see anything weird if old investors like Buffet does not have interests in Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies.

They have their era and rules. Naturally, the elderly have their rules that you can not change. They are too conservative but I agree that if they can not learn something new (because of their ages), don't invest. Buffet does not break his rules and his risk management strategies can be useful for us as investors.

The pandemic, Buffet withdraw investments and capital from Air-companies and won't have plans to invest in such companies in the near future. I agree with this decision too. When you are uncertain about future, close your position and keep your capital.

The bear market in 2018 to 2019 is a period to read and digest his lessons, personally I learned a lot from Buffet and the latest bear market.
3564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PoW and free energy on: May 02, 2021, 10:42:49 AM
I was wondering... When nuclear fusion becomes a thing in "the next 30 years", i.e., almost infinite and free energy production, what do you think will happen to proof of work? Will make the bitcoin consensus stronger or weaker?
Nuclear power is not a trend for the future. Many nations and foundations are trying to reduce operations of current nuclear power facilities as well as trying to shut down old facilities and won't intend to approve licenses for new facilities.

After the Fukushima Daiichi disaster more than one decade ago, the world has been changing core approach to nuclear power.

Quote
If nuclear fusion is going to be centralized, as it seems for now (look at the ITER), then I think it can be a problem. Nation-state attacks could be feasible.
Nations, governments can set up mining farms and mine Bitcoin. Bitcoin is opened for everyone, every institutes, nations so they are free to do this. If they do this, they will do it very secretly. They won't announce anything because they don't want to admit their systematic failures.
3565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transactions Fee Are More Expensive Than Ever on: May 02, 2021, 10:10:20 AM
Some people simply live in the belief that transactions should always be cheap, no matter what the price of BTC is, and about what is going on behind the whole crypto mining process.
Personally I believe that the fee of Bitcoin transactions should only be considered in either Bitcoin or satoshi units. The fee rate at 1 satoshi/vbyte today can be 100x more expensive in 10 or 20 years later when price of Bitcoin increases 100x.

It is not a fault of Bitcoin for cheap or expensive transaction fees in USD or fiat. If its network still allows patient and wise or knowledgeable people to make transactions at 1 to 10 sat/vbyte. It is acceptable in my opinion.

It is not fair to require cheap transaction fee while you earn a lot of money from Bitcoin, in fiat. The storage cost of gold, diamond in bank vaults are much more expensive than the fee for toilet paper storage (if there is such services or vault).

Quote
I'm just looking at mempool data and what about those who still pay a few hundred satoshi/byte?
Mostly from exchanges, services that broadcast withdrawal transactions for customers. The rest (much smaller) are from people who use bad fee estimators.

1. What is a good offline wallet I could use to store BTC? Are download btc wallet or app would be reliable?
Recommended wallets
  • Bitcoin Core: download it from Bitcoin.org or Bitcoincore.org. Bitcoin Core is too heavy with full node whilst with prune node, you can have other technical problems. I won't recommend you to use Bitcoin Core with prune node, so if your computer does not have too much space (about 500 GB), let's consider Electrum wallet that is lighter
  • Electrum wallet. It has an application for Android and please get Android link to download in the website page, don't search Electrum app in Google Play
  • Wasabi wallet. It gives you Tor connection, Coin Join transaction and better privacy
  • How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum. See the guides to verify Bitcoin Core or Wasabi in download pages

Quote
2. How many Keys and what are those keys that I need o save from the BTC wallet?
Depends on the wallet you are using. You can save the mnemonic seed of whole wallet and use such seed to recover all keys, addresses in that wallet. Or you can simply save the private key of a specific public address you store your Bitcoin.

Quote
3. If I bought BTC and not successful. Is there any refund I can get?
If you are Bitcoin buyer, it depends on how your trade was done. If the trade is done without Escrow, you won't get anything. Scammer will get your fiat and run away.

If you are Bitcoin seller, remember that Bitcoin transaction is irreversible so make sure you receive fiat (or other payment method) before you do your last step "Release your Bitcoin" for that trade.

Quote
4. Can I transfer BTC to someone living in different country?
Yes. You can. Bitcoin transaction and its network are Borderless.

Quote
5. What are the Tips in handling or having BTC in the wallet for safety keeping?
  • Write down private keys or mnemonic seeds that help you to recover your wallet later (on same or different devices)
  • Save backup files in secret and safe places. Should be Offline.
  • Don't make noise and tell everyone that you are a Bitcoin investors
  • Try to practice wallet recovery, and do it successfully before you buy your first bitcoin and store it in that wallet
3568  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are Bitcoin mixers, and why do exchanges ban them? on: May 02, 2021, 09:01:37 AM
Exchanges or gambling sites have sort of strict rules for Coin Join transactions or deposits from mixing/tumbling process.

They have reasons behind as they don't want to put their platforms under risks from governments and money laundering accusations. It is obviously that not all transactions are done with Coin Join or mixer/ tumbler services are from bad resources. Everyone can use such transactions or services but service operators need to have a preventive barrier to detect and protect their services.
3569  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC price is affecting your? Tips and ideas you must know (for newbies as well) on: May 01, 2021, 02:38:18 PM
My best advice if you doing trade, RISK MANAGEMENT. Stop-loss, and price target every time you make trades.
Risk management also means that a good and experienced trader knows when to exit position as a draw or minor loss.

A position close with draw or minor loss help to protect capital as much as possible. Capital is sort of blood for traders and investors. If a trader only want to close position with profit, that guy should leave the market. 10 win orders won't help you get rich and become a billionaire but one big lost order will be able to liquidate your account.
3570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: chances of bank closing account if you buy bitcoin on: April 29, 2021, 03:28:30 PM
What are the chances of a bank closing your account if you buy bitcoin?
Rules, laws are different in different nations and you can not generalize all things for all nations.

Quote
i have heard people say they closed down their bank account for buying bitcoin, but this might have been a few years ago. he only said they closed his account, there is no chance of them taking all the money in your account, correct?
It depends
  • Banks can close your accounts for many reasons: suspicious money flow; money laundering, fraudulent activities and victims file reports to police
  • Trades / exchanges relate to Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies. It depends on local laws in your nation. Read local laws or ask it specifically in local boards or threads for your nation on the forum.
3571  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How priced-in is Glassnode data and how we can use it to get ahead of the crowd? on: April 29, 2021, 01:39:42 PM
Plus why would plebs like us try to beat the whalecumulators in their own game? The only way to beat them is to actually buy and HODL, and never give them what they want. Our Bitcoins. They want it? Buy in the open market, and help set price discovery.
Many people spend their money to buy Bitcoin. They are different people who can be: trader, investor, speculator and gambler. If they don't have knowledge about Bitcoin, don't understand Bitcoin & its network, they will easily to be manipulated by news.

Their decisions are arbitrarily made and not based on any reasonable things.

Whales manipulate the market but not all people on the market lose their money or Bitcoin because of whales. They lost because of their emotional and unknowledgeable decisions. They gave up plans because they only have half-belief in Bitcoin.
3572  Other / Meta / Re: Modify Display Name of Account on: April 29, 2021, 01:29:53 PM
Where it is mentioned that forum staff can whitelist you but there are no criteria was mentioned for that so it all depends but not sure it happened or not.
Whitelist is not a gift for everyone.

It is opened for every one but there are some criteria. Just my guess
  • You can get acceptance if you are good member.
  • You can get acceptance if you are a good member and send Whitelisting request for your alts. Alts can be accounts for your bots, data scraping, etc.

For plain newbie accounts, I don't think admins or global moderators will accept their Whitelisting request.

Notes
  • Whitelisting is only one time for lifespan of one account.
  • If you are Whitelisted when you are a Full member, you can not get acceptance for Whitelisting again (your second time) when you rank up to Hero member, ie. or any higher rank than Full member.
3573  Economy / Speculation / Re: The next Bitcoin manipulation prediction on: April 28, 2021, 02:37:06 PM
Manipulations are vitamins of markets especially online markets. Such vitamins are necessary for finite market like Bitcoin market.

  • Falls: Bitcoin dies
  • Rises: Bitcoin is manipulated. Its value is not real and won't be stable.

I'm new here. But I spent a lot of time here and learned a lot. For example, when I came here I thought about how to use it, where to write a topic, all this
Welcome to the forum.

The most useful warning for newbies are
I don't want to react so harsh but if your saying is true, I think you would concentrate on reading, learning instead of making such useless topics.

Searching is powerful and can help you before anyone else on the forum help you with your questions. Most of questions from newbies can be answered by Searching.
3575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Elon Musk "Smart" Tweeting Continues! on: April 28, 2021, 01:02:17 PM
I can basically smell money here lol. If he really did try to meme doge coin or even mention it in a television, there's going to be a massive buying orders following. Just look at the gains below, people are probably getting hyped about this and are accumulating now.
Let's they freely to join the party but if they are not aware of liquidations, they will get losses or worse liquidations.

Liquidations will kill traders in two tails: short and long. Price moves up because short positions are killed/ liquidated. Oppositely, price will be crashed when long positions are killed/ liquidated.

Some big rises or deep falls can not be explained with demand and supply. They are appeared because of leverages, liquidations. Tweets are supports for future liquidations.
3576  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How priced-in is Glassnode data and how we can use it to get ahead of the crowd? on: April 28, 2021, 11:43:12 AM
On-chain analyses as from Glassnode data and analytical releases give the crowd some sort of delayed reports.

The crowd always move behind the whales. If you spend money for a Paid account, you can access real time analyses but the crowd only wait for news from media. They only get free news from media when things are set up.

I mean:
  • Whales buy at cheaper price than the crowd and they do it much earlier than the crowd
  • Whales exit the market before the crowd.

You can use those free news at somewhat extents but don't feel FOMO or panic with such news.
3577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peter Brandt believes that Biden may do a lot of damage to bitcoin on: April 27, 2021, 04:04:51 PM
Case would be closed like this

President works for government which never like or support Bitcoin. Whoever the President is, Trump, Biden, Obama, anyone else the general policy for Bitcoin and crypto currency won't be opened and friendly. They might like (or might not) Bitcoin or cryptocurrency but when they are Presidents, they won't be able to do much and show their personal supports via and Acts or Regulations for Bitcoin.
3578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Hotbit missing tokens again on: April 27, 2021, 03:39:53 PM
You need to follow up their announcement on the token you are thinking they stole from you. I don't think Hotbit exchange do so. They are not top exchange but not a too small and scam one.

It is common for exchanges and crypto projects when they change total supplies of coins or tokens. They can run swap with different ratio, such as 1:1, 1:10, 10:1, etc.

In your case, it can be something with the 10:1, swap or merge (as others said above). You can not ask for double benefit: price rises 10x and the ratio is 1:1. Mostly, price rises 10x because of the swap ratio is 10:1. If the swap ratio is 1:1, price would stay the same or rise a few percent or only 2x.

10:1 ratio, for example, can give a fake feeling of scarcity that in turn lifts up the price.
3579  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Secure Our Wallet to Prevent Being Hacked! on: April 27, 2021, 03:19:28 PM
2. Install/ Download Chrome Extension
We can prevent being hacked if we download and install chrome extension. Mew chrome extension and MetaMask chrome extension are available to install.
I don't want to use wallet extensions and if I have other wallets to use, I will not install any extension on my browsers.

Perhaps I am too paranoid about risks and I admit that I don't have skills to verify any extension. Consequently, I would prefer to make prevention as it is better than cure.
3580  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Streaks (Rise/ Fall) - 2013 to 2020 on: April 26, 2021, 04:12:55 PM
Just copy and paste. All 3 cycles are almost a copy paste. They are ridiculously alike. Like Bitcon would not be a money but some art or I dont know what.  Maybe reason is that people follow last cycle and they have so much wealth so they make a trend. LOL, only reasonable explanation.

And I hope you can get liquidated. So it will look a bit more real. So far it looked like you cant be.  You sold BTC at end of 2017 and bought at beginning of 2019. Same you could do a cycle before. Sold at end of 2013 and bought at beginning of 2015. If this "art" continue, what I so surrealistic believe it will you could sell at end of this year and buy back at beginning of 2023. It is just copy paste. Hopefully it will be different this time.
Patterns, fractals can be reused but the periodicity can be different. With the growth of Bitcoin adoption and more participation of institutes, corporations, I expect shorter periodicity of Bitcoin. Rather than 4 year cycle, it can be shortened to 2 year cycle but every 4 year, the Bitcoin market will have a big cyclical bull run. Bull and bear is within 2 years but each 4 years, a big bull market appears and repeats.

I would like to classify them as: seasonal cycle (2 years) and halving cycle (4 years).  Smiley
