3561  Economy / Reputation / Re: Outdated token, Escrow faking - Telegram awareness on: January 01, 2020, 06:24:06 PM
The same Telegram user (Hmm?) contacted me yesterday with a loan request, and offering ThoreCoin as collateral.  I just opened my telegram a few minutes ago to respond, then went and got a cup of coffee.  When I came back to my computer the Telegram user name changed to @Xerox66.

3562  Other / Meta / Re: IS GIVING RED-TRUST THAT NON-EXPLANATORY ? on: January 01, 2020, 05:18:43 PM
You are a dope who buys the whipped up horse shit of the DT mob clowns and excluded me when I didn't do anything wrong. Of course that is why I excluded you, because you either have no common sense or you are on your knees in front of them. Either way I don't want you on my list.

I excluded you for one reason and one reason only; I don't like the philosophy you use to build your trust list.  I don't think that adding everyone with whom you've had a successful trade is a good strategy.  Regardless of our personal differences, if you applied a trust-list philosophy that more closely aligned with mine, you would be on my inclusion list, not exclusions.  I leave my personal differences out of the decision.

However, recently I've perceived something else that I find damaging; I think you've been trying to manipulate the system.  You've been including people with the hope that they include you.  You've been adding folks from specific local boards who have running disagreements with other DT1 members, again in the hope that they add you.  Of course there's no way to prove this, but it's my belief that you are operating this way.

This reciprocal/retaliatory approach to the trust system is damaging, and goes against everything you claim to be fighting for.

Being a plagiarizing sockpuppeting weasel is still not a good reason to get red trust, let alone sending A FUCKING MERIT. IMO.

By no means was I trying to conflate the two, or suggest that the OP's behavior justified the negative review left by Lauda.  I completely disagree with this and a few other reviews recently left by Lauda, so I did what I feel is right; I exclude Lauda from my trust settings shortly after I read the OP of this thread.

3564  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How do I set up my Electrum Wallet to Legacy? on: December 31, 2019, 05:14:43 PM
Theoretically, you could use an Electrum seed in conjunction with the "BIP39" option to try and circumvent that behaviour, but that has the potential to cause a lot of problems later and is not at all advised.
~
I DO NOT recommend attempting to make an Electrum Legacy wallet using an Electrum SegWit seed (or vice versa).

I'll admit I've done this.  I've used my bech32 hot-wallet seed to create a p2sh wallet for temporary use.  Why is doing so such a bad idea?

If you want to use the same seed to create both Legacy and SegWit wallets... then I'd recommend using an actual BIP39 seed (generated by some other method like a native BIP39 wallet, the Ian Coleman Tool or hand generated following BIP39 standard etc). However, I still think that is a "Bad Idea"™

And, is this a bad idea for the same reasons?
3565  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Feature idea: give DT1 the ability to remove specific feedbacks from DT on: December 31, 2019, 04:08:58 PM

Not that there's anything wrong with that.  Shocked

What we really need is DT1 members growing some backbone and drawing a few more lines in the sand. It's not even that everyone needs to exclude every perceived abuser, it's enough that a handful of them take action but lately it's been almost impossible to achieve even that. So begrudgingly I'd have to kinda sorta agree with my arch-nemesis above - I think giving more power to DT1 members would just mean less backbone and more abuse.

Agreed.  It seems like many are afraid to exclude those who've demonstrated poor judgement, because they fear a retaliatory exclusion.  Which happens, of course, but who cares?

I like to think of myself as one who sticks to his convictions, I've said it before and I'll say it again:  If you're afraid to lose your position on DT1 you probably don't belong there.

Thanks for the response.

This is exactly the kind of stuff that keeps you on my excluded list.

We both know the only reason I'm on your distrust list is because I put you on mine.

This has nothing to do with the topic or the rating he received.

That's why I apologized for going off topic in the first place.  That's why I asked for clarification on something (unrelated) that struck me as odd.

If you want to scrutinize the target of abuse until you feel you have reached a point of false equivalence start your own topic on the matter if it is so critically important.

I'm not here to scrutinize the victim, I have no desire to do so.  I'm not looking for any excuses or false equivalencies.  But, being the victim of abuse does not shield one from the ramifications of also being abusive.  Just because this topic was started to point out one type of abuse doesn't mean I should ignore the potential existence of another.

That is not even my reddit account, it has just one post which has my telegram ID, that doesn't prove I have posted that message.
~
airtman is not my account, this is were your deactive work got deflected. He just used my telegram ID once, I even asked him on telegram immediately to remove my ID from the posts as I was unaware what he was offering properly. I even have proof of telling him that don't involve me here, but he was unable to edit the thread.

Wait a minute, sorry to go off topic here but there's something I'd like clarified:  Some random redditor (coincidentally using the exact same pseudonym that you use here) mistakenly posted your actual Telegram username on reddit?  What are the odds of that happening?

And then some random newbie offering the same service as the reddit post also mistakenly posted your Telegram username in a post here on the forum?

In that screen shot you posted the user to whom you were talking complained about getting red-tagged, to which you responded "yes, you mentioned that we offer paid posting."  Care to shed more light on how all of this happened?

3568  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Feature idea: give DT1 the ability to remove specific feedbacks from DT on: December 31, 2019, 01:15:51 AM
I also believe I know why this came up, and it's a noble suggestion.  I'm not sure if complicating the system any more is a good idea.

The trust system seems complicated enough, imagine being a fresh newbie trying to navigate through it.  Adding complexities isn't always the best strategy.
The flag system already works that way, and it seems like it's too complex to reach it's potential.  The majority of petty scammers target newbies, who don't know how to use the flag system, if they even know it exists.

If up-voting/down-voting of feedback ends up working anything like inclusions/exclusions, which many people think is to be used like their Facebook Friends list the system will be corrupted in short order.

As for the reasons for this suggestion, I think people should be held accountable for their actions.  If someone is abusing their position of power by using it to punish those with whom he has petty squabbles, he shouldn't be in that position of power.  Even if that person has done good in the past, and may continue to do so, there's an obligation to prevent the abuse of power.

I have a simpler solution; build your trust list the way you feel is right, and also enable viewing of "untrusted" feedback and give each of those reviews the weight they deserve.

3570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: December 30, 2019, 04:18:16 PM
I can't believe Seattle fucked up again and didn't run Marshawn up the middle and instead took a delay of game penalty!

That's what cost them the game.  If they hadn't gotten that penalty Beast Mode would have just lunged over the linemen like he did earlier in the game.

Being a Niner's fan is so stressful.  I don't know if I can handle it if we have to win all of our playoff games this way.  The 9ers and the Seahawks have been going at this for a couple of decades now, each team has designed it's self with specific aspect to stop the other.  The Rams and Cardinals are only occasional thorns in our sides.

Some interesting stats that I heard from the game announcers yesterday; The 9ers hadn't won a game in Seattle since 2011, I had no idea it had been so long.  Last night's home-loss to the 9ers was the first of Russell Wilson's career.

I'm surprised at the odds against the Bills, I think that's likely to be a close game, and could go either way.  Too close for me to pick a winner.

The Patriots over the Titans.  The Patriots have to be the favorite going into the playoffs, despite how they played their last game.  I think it's written in the NFL rule-book.  We've seen it before, they look mediocre at the end of regular season, then go on to dominate in the playoffs.

The Saints over the Vikings.  The Saints look amazing lately, maybe even better than the Ravens.

I'm tentatively picking the Seahawks even though they're playing away.  I just can't see the Eagles D stopping Wilson, or the Eagles offense being that productive against the Seahawk's D.

3572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: December 30, 2019, 12:38:47 AM
I must admit, I didn't see that coming from Miami.  The Patriots still had a first round bye to work for, and usually they can handle their division's bottom-dwellers.    I've been hearing it tossed around that this is the first year since 2009 that Pats don't get a first round bye.  That's an incredible streak!  Just the fact that they've gotten to the playoffs 11 years in a row now, but to do so and be seeded in the top two for 9 straight years is super-human.  What an amazing run.

The Cowgirls are looking hot in what's turning out to be a meaningless game.  The Eagles will take the NFC East and the 4th seed.

It's looking like it's all settle except for the 49er @ Seattle.  Lots of Green Bay and New Orleans fans will be rooting for the Seagulls tonight.

GO 49ERS!

I didn't expect them to lose the game, they suffered 2 goals in just under 10 minutes. The second goal that the Wolves scored was the Man City defender failure to protect the ball well (it was an unacceptable failure) And about the third goal that the Wolves scored, I just have to say the following: it was an amazing goal

Manchester city needs to hire good players. they must improve greatly in defense and attack to score many goals

That last goal was amazing.  I think City was playing with only 10 men on the field, but I was impressed with their defense in the first half.  Wolves won the time of possession battle, but had a lot of trouble in the box.  Finally they wore down Cities defense in the second half.  Definitely one of the more exciting matches in recent memory.
3576  Other / Meta / Re: This is not a stake your Bitcoin address here thread, but an interesting reminder on: December 28, 2019, 03:06:51 PM
I made the uber-noob mistake with my first staked address.  I used an off-line machine to generate a paper private key, but then I imported it into my (then) Blockchain.info web wallet to sign a message with it.   Roll Eyes

I've since deleted the private key from Blockchain.com's web wallet, but is it ever really deleted?
What I did was worse: I accidentally copied my private key into my Google search field, and for sure they still remember it!
That's why I "unstaked it and staked a new one.
I'm not signing a "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" though, I prefer to unlock my wallet as little as possible.

Okay, yeah, that's worse.  I don't feel so bad anymore.  Cheesy

Even if you think you're using a "private" service, anything posted on the internet is, or potentially could be exposed to the whole world.  If it's google, then it's almost a certainty.
3577  Other / Meta / Re: This is not a stake your Bitcoin address here thread, but an interesting reminder on: December 28, 2019, 03:29:39 AM
I never understood signed message idea 💡.

my 1J address in my profile has been there for a long time and somewhere some place I staked it.

but why a message to prove control.

Why not deposit  0.00000025 btc in it and take 0.00000025 out of it.

shows you control it the same as a message.

when you want to prove you are still you

add back 0.00000025 and with draw 0.00000025

shows you still control address.

is not this not just as good as signing the address? or am i missing something.

A signed message is free and doesn't require time for confirmations.  Otherwise I agree, sending pre-discussed amount could just as easily be used as proof.  I seem to recall this being suggested to someone who had lost their account but had only used exchange addresses on the forum.

3578  Economy / Reputation / Re: Noticed an account name change this morning on: December 27, 2019, 11:26:21 PM
You guys probably already noticed Killyou72 is now FFrankie as well, right?

I guess Theymos is feeling generous lately? Tongue

That change happened right after he and I finished a trade.  I left him feedback, then noticed I had left feedback for an unrecognized name, but I had specified that it "Killyou72" in the feedback.  I thought I was losing it, but then he PM'd me and I realized that the accounts name had changed.  I can see how a guy would grow out of a name like "Killyou72."

Blacknavy recently changed his name from Matthias9515.  I guess Theymos is taking requests.

It was an exciting one, what a turn-around for the Wolves in the second half.  To sweep the series against the defending champs is pretty impressive for any club, but it's exceptionally so for a humble club new to the EPL.  Great match, that was a lot of fun to watch.
3580  Other / Meta / Re: FREE MERIT COME FAST BEFORE I RUN OUT [Happy Holidays] on: December 27, 2019, 08:08:06 PM
I don't need any merits, that's not why I'm posting here.  But I do want to give my thanks to all the forum members who make this a special place.  Everybody has the potential to be great forum member and contributor, from u=3 to the newest newbie.  To those of you who put in the effort; thank you.

Special thanks to the following;

Theymos, thank you for a wonderful forum, and an awesome job with the various 10th anniversary celebrations.
Suchmoon, thank you being a great forum friend, helping keep the forum safe, and being an inspirational contributor.
LoyceV, thank you for all the data, but mostly for being Switzerland.
DarkStar_, thank you for being an inspiration for all, and one of the most trustworthy individuals on the forum.

And last but not least, all the regular participants of the WO thread, you guys have me in stitches at least once a day, every day.  I don't post in the thread regularly, but I do try to keep up with it.  Even if some of the individual posts don't seem like much, collectively you folks provide an invaluable contribution to the forum.

Thank you all.  I hope you've all had a wonderful Solstice Holiday Season, and I wish you and your loved ones the happiest new year.
