361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum and Bitcoin: What will Bitcoin 2.0 look like? on: August 18, 2014, 12:41:59 AM
Commence every single person replying to this thread talking sh*t about Ethereum, but misspelling it and not knowing what it is, at the same time.

Kinda like Bitcoin skeptics.  Crazy huh?

*adding my cum to the wall*

Dear future people of 2140 - this is what most people on the internet were like 100 years ago.   Cool isnt it?

PS:  Hopefully Im still around.  Going to try that Cryonics thing...

363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It costs $0.09 cents to send $0.24 cents of Bitcoin? Really? on: August 17, 2014, 10:43:50 PM
Yes its the dumb ass like you dont understand the economic of bitcoin infrastructure. You can send btc with any amount as a fee. But that tx will not be confirmed for a very long time.

I know how Bitcoin works.  Im making a point.  I am able to send up to $5,000 completely free of charge from one Chase bank account to another persons Chase bank account, instantly.  With no miner fees or waiting time either.

What a dumbass I am.  And now you see another reason why consumers have zero incentive to use Bitcoin.  Because dumbasses like you think this is a "dumbass" thing to take issue with.   Rather than addressing it as a real issue for future consumer adoption.  Which it is.

364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / It costs $0.09 cents to send $0.24 cents of Bitcoin? Really? on: August 17, 2014, 10:32:38 PM
Hi -

Tried to send $0.24 worth of bitcoin and this pops up:

Is this what they mean when they say Bitcoin can never be used for micro transactions?

Is this one of the 10 million things the Bitcoin dev team should have fixed 12 months ago, but has slated for "some time in the next 5 years" instead ?

Meanwhile the entire financial industry sees Bitcoin as having major flaws and never incorporates it.

And we never go ot the moon, because a bunch of developers have decided "we dont need that fixed right now.  we'll do it later" ?

Or is this something else?

365  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ethereum KILLING BITCOIN! on: August 17, 2014, 07:07:02 AM
they only got 26k or so total and only a few thousand have moved. why would this "kill bitcoin"? even 26k being dumped across a few exchanges would not be that big of a deal.

But yet all the sheep were scared shitless that 30K SR Auction coins were going to hit the exchanges.  Scared. Fkn. Shitless.  It's all anyone talked about for 3+ weeks.

Pretty sure selling 3,000 BTC would do this to the price, wouldn't it?
366  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ethereum KILLING BITCOIN! on: August 17, 2014, 06:45:36 AM
People do realize they actually made a statement in the contract itself saying 'we may or may not actually make ethereum, invest at your own risk'?

I don't condone violence but trust me, if they simply walk away, the targets on the Vitalik and Charles backs will be bigger than Karpeles'. ...

There are a lot of institutional investors and very wealthy people pouring money into Ethereum IPO.  Some extremely smart people as well, despite popular opinion on this forum.

It wouldn't be prudent for them not to perform in 2014/15 as expected.

Or the price is fucking low right now, and they're not retarded, so they're buying.

368  Economy / Speculation / Re: I am done with Bitcoin! on: August 17, 2014, 04:23:12 AM
my investment

This is one of the big problems I see. Lots of people think Bitcoin is some kind of "investment scheme", it's not. Would you "invest" your money by depositing it into PayPal? Bitcoin is a replacement for PayPal. Use it just like you would PayPal. If you need to accept or send a payment to/from someone over the internet, then use bitcoin. Buying bitcoins to speculate on the value is gambling, not investing.

ps. I'm not blind, I was just speaking generally as I continually hear people refer to their bitcoin "investment".

In this (bad) analogy, Bitcoin is akin to owning stock in a company like PayPal pre-IPO.  So yes.  I would invest.

370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: do bitcoin ATMs really suck this much? on: August 17, 2014, 03:49:46 AM
Forget privacy issues.

The reason Bitcoin ATMs suck is because the  owners are ripping people off with the "spread" price from buy to sell.

Often times $50 to $100 or more.

Idiots.  People's greed is what will stop Bitcoin from going to the moon quickly.

ATM company operators should make rules about this shit.  Limits.  Like ... spread can't be more than $3.00

Like a typical ATM fee.

I never anticipated that Bitcoin ATMS would be rendered useless by this.  I thought people would be able to buy Bitcoins with them.  But they can't.

371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi was murdered? New evidence coming in on: August 16, 2014, 10:47:04 PM
A recurring trend in the Bitcoin scene is a lot of shady murders/suicides end up happening when there is Bitcoin to be had. It was the case in MT GOX it was the case in Silk Road so who's to say Satoshi was immune from this? He could very well have been murdered in order for someone to steal his coins or even take over. For example after satoshis "disappearance" many people in this very forum and the bitcoin community gained power so a lot of people could have had motive.

What are your thoughts on this?

Where's the "new evidence" mentioned in your deceptive thread title?   You are so irritating.

Yeah.  Im sure a lot of good folks in that video.  But the weird-factor is a bit high.  People will probably make fun of it rather than listen to the message.

Redo the video and get a stylist / director to help the speakers message be more noticeable than their appearances/demeanors/facial expressions.

373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How easy it is to KILL bitcoin. on: August 16, 2014, 10:30:49 PM
OP:

Anything can be killed if the WHOLE WORLD bands together to kill it.

But any retard can see that this wont happen.  Your entire premise that it will, (or even "might"), is absurd.

The amount of worldwide hatred required for such large quantities of powers to gather together, is non existent.

Additionally, basic reality has shown us that what is illegal one place is not illegal other places.  What is hated by one government is tolerated by another.

Your awareness of this basic truth about the world around you, seems to be drastically lacking.

Therefore your method by which Bitcoin can be killed is pointless hot air.  A hypothetical thought experiment at best.

Of course Bitcoin can be killed.  But only in the sense of worldwide mass adoption and commerce.  If even one person is mining, its not technically dead.

The chances of all the steps necessary to fully kill it, happening?   Zero.

374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What businesses does Bitcoin need? on: August 13, 2014, 05:34:05 AM
Wow.   Parking meters?   Gas stations?

Bitcoin needs a remittances network.  Worldwide.

One with contracts with 711's around the world, so that even in a village in remote Thailand, someone can withdraw cash sent to them in Bitcoin.

whether or not Bitcoin is ready for the Big Leagues or whether Bitcoin is robust enough to handle the workload of an entire national or global economy

The protocol has sat with very little enhancement after an entire year now.  As Gavin stated recently:  Development has come nearly grounding to a halt due to bickering and differences of opinion.   Thats super.  Not like its the most important financial innovation of the last 500 years or anything.

The excuse that it cant be modified heavily because its such an important piece of software is only going to be a valid excuse for so long.  (the whole "enhancing a plane while in flight" reference too).

Bitcoin needs features that make it usable to the various financial industries.  Or some solution which allows for extending its capabilities to usurp those industries.   But alas, this suggestion, like all the others, is met with shrugged shoulders as far as I can tell.  Tree Chains, Sidechains, whatever ... someone needs to take the reigns and get development moving.  Now.  Fast.  Not next year.  Not in five years.  What becomes available as a feature *now* gets used in business in 5 years.  Wait 5 years to implement it, and someone else will make something better in the meantime.

It doesn't matter how much we love bitcoin.  If its not in a usable form to the various financial services out there, its simply not going to be used.  It will always be just a peer to peer payment system, with some creative startups branching out its features a teeny weeny bit.

But that is not what we all want is it?  We all want a new global currency and economy.  Well guess what?  Bitcoin, in its current form, can't do that.  And there go all your hopes of "to the moon".  Whether we admit it or not, we are all relying on Bitcoins "Programmability".  Its ability to be enhanced.  But its not being enhanced in any meaningful way which makes it more flexible or usable to the financial world.  At least not as far as I can see.  Five months pass and i see minor usability enhancements.  All talk of major enhancements are "years off".   If people in these industries have a first glance at Bitcoin and see an insanely limited, basic feature set, they will simply walk away.  Some already have.

There is a laundry list of features that could be safely added to Bitcoin which would make it usable in numerous financial industries.  And the items on that list simply aren't being added.  This is my biggest and only concern about the long term viability of Bitcoin.

376  Economy / Speculation / Re: The only reason Bitcoin is more valuable then other altcoins on: August 13, 2014, 01:38:14 AM
If the Protocol was updated to do something more like a lot of altcoins do I feel this is what would truly make the Bitcoin price sky rocket.

Yep.  I've been saying this for months.  And getting poo-poo'd.  As the protocol sits with very little enhancement after an entire year now.  As Gavin stated recently:  Development has come nearly grounding to a halt due to bickering and differences of opinion.   Thats super.  Not like its the most important financial innovation of the last 500 years or anything.

And forget the other alt coins. Fewer excuses.  More action.

378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you spending or hodling? on: August 11, 2014, 10:51:41 PM
The proper protocol is to force yourself to spend, and then replenish what you've spent.

It takes extra effort.  But those who just hold are doing nothing to further the Bitcoin economy, and are thereby reducing the chance their their "HODLINGS" will go up in value.

Use the coins folks.  As often as possible.  Then replenish

379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What was your first face-to-face transaction that you spent your bitcoins on? on: August 11, 2014, 04:38:46 AM
I prefer FIAT for F2F Tx. Bitcoin is online money and an investment asset for me. I prefer to spend my FIAT and HODL Bitcoin Wink

The process is to spend the bitcoin then immediately replenish it into your holdings.

This way you support the economy / currency and improve your own chances of your holdings being worth more one day.

Terrible idea to just hold and only spend fiat IMO.
