367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The problem with Bitcoin is on: June 01, 2014, 12:37:46 PM
If you're bad at handling money, you'll end up in debt, bitcoin or not.

But bitcoin can worsen it if you had all your assets in it :/

371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The relationship between private keys and BTC address/wallet on: May 01, 2014, 03:23:50 PM
Recently created a paper wallet as a backup and more importantly a learning experience.

After thinking about it I realized I don't understand, as the subject says, the relationship of private keys to the BTC address and/or the wallet.

Can somebody point me in the right direction to get this figured out?

For example, the paper wallet has a BTC address for spending, but no private keys. Why no private keys?

What do I need to know about private keys?

Regards,
BBJ

PS: the search feature here sucks. if I need to try a new search I must wait a certain period of time, way too long of a time.

Can u please post your string after changing a few character ? It would be easier for us to understand whether it is an address or the private key itself. Please dont reduce the no. of characters.

WHY would he do this and give you with prv key?!?!

You are unusually calm about losing $180k at $1200 per coin. That said, file a report with the police, doubt they will do anything but this amount of money is not small.

They might report it to a cybercrime divison then it will get investigated.

378  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How difficult is it for Bitcoin to hard fork? Thoughts on BTC becoming PoW/PoSV? on: May 01, 2014, 02:18:59 PM
the practical plan is to make a altcoin with all of your desires and features you want.. if people like it, they will swap bitcoins for your coin.

if they dont then so be it.

but changing bitcoin simply due to a minority's opinion is not good for bitcoin as investors will lose faith in bitcoins rules and trust, due to changes.

bitcoin is bitcoin.. if you dont like bitcoin, use something else.

Thats what many people are doing, leaving bitcoin for others Sad
