361  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Earning online more preferable than offline? on: May 23, 2023, 06:00:21 PM
That depends on hundreds of factors. Your location of work, your family expenses, minimum wager you getting and most importantly security of the online work. As far as I have seen and worked online jobs are red signals all the time. You never know at what point they will drop you out and say no more. That’s the big challenge while working online side hustles for that matter. If you want to make grand career in online business or permanent work mode then it has to be with proper planning and dedication. It is no joke man, what offline job provides in terms of fixed income and security can not be achieved online as long as you have some sort of contract or something.
362  Economy / Economics / Re: Not all banks are going bust. on: May 23, 2023, 05:11:40 PM
Does this mean their toxic loan schemes has led to huge wealth collection and that’s not fitting right within the accounting books? This is why they are giving away money to their premium clients like you! I am not sure what to take from this incidence and why any bank or financial institute just give away money like that. Banks are one of the institutes that are known to be Money lynchers. Lolz.
I don’t know if that is the proper wording but yeah they keep sucking money and yet they feel it’s not much for them. The only reason they end up in bankruptcy and bad scheme give away is because of the suspicious practices such as the one you have explained here.
363  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Suite Lite for mobile on: May 23, 2023, 04:12:34 PM
Thanks for sharing this.

Does it allow you to import externally generated address? For example, the address which is generated from https://kimbatt.github.io/btc-address-generator/?page=paper-wallet, would it allow me to add that as well.

I am using Mycelium wallet, which does not seem to be properly build for the iOS, its simple yet complicated type of wallet for me. Sometime I am feeling to only use newly generated bitcoin and keep the private keys stores and never import them until I see a proper wallet to do so.

As you mentioned it's watch only wallet, so is it like just to check the balance? I mean I can do that using block explorer in blink of an eye, not sure what's so special about it or what is the thought behind it.  Cheesy
364  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Menbership- 3.5m registered only 56k members survived?..... Why? on: May 23, 2023, 10:48:45 AM
It could be one of those up trend and downtrend cycle over the years. I mean initially it was obvious that forum seen huge registrations because Bitcoin was new and everyone wanted to know about it. Slowly it might have happened that BitcoinTalk word search became very popular, mouth to mouth publicity happened, ICO projects were booming and people wanted to know genuine projects and as far as resources concerned, forum was the best place to place your bet.

Over the time, many other forums emerged too. Social media coverage regarding Bitcoin is off the roof so most of the info that a normal user want can be availed from multiple sources now.

Not sure what or who constitute to those 56K active users but that could be none other than developers, technical people who wants to explore, students who are doing masters in Blockchain, and most of the contributors from services section and bounty section.

Do we have BPIP feature which tells us which section is active in terms of number of user engagements? (Can't find it on BPIP.org). May be that can shade some light on the matter.
365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can't central bankers just buy all the bitcoin and miners? on: May 22, 2023, 06:33:16 PM
Congressman laughing at the corner after reading the OP.
SEC, CBDC, Biden Administration who are interconnected and running central bank propaganda all partying at white house every weekend just to check how they are screwing the whole Bitcoin economy be like:  Grin

Indirectly they are already controlling many things under the crypto. We are thankful that SEC has not gotten proper evidences or Biden is not able to form proper law enforcement to control everything related to Bitcoin, otherwise we would have been doomed by now.

Mining, yeah they are already enjoying the electricity bills, and at the same time throwing the Environmental pollution balls in miners court to disturb them at all times. Let us just hope what you mentioned in OP does not really happens in the long run. That would end the career here.
366  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: i want to build hardware wallet from scratch. on: May 22, 2023, 02:47:17 PM
Coldcard has their entire hardware list and schematics online:
https://github.com/Coldcard/firmware/tree/master/hardware

You also have lnbits: https://lnbits.github.io/hardware-wallet/installer/ that will allow you to use some off the shelf hardware to create a wallet.

For the most part if you want to do it from scratch it's not a 1 person job. You would have to know programming to write the code, engineering to design the hardware, and then be able to assemble it which is an entirely different set of skills. Would be an interesting project, but well above what most people can do on their own.

-Dave

It is intriguing that how open sources are working these days. It has literal blue prints on it and there should be no problem in building the entire hardware wallet with it.

I have seen that there are DIY (Do it yourself ) site with complete guideline about almost everything that you could imagine. These site Will also lead you towards the hardware and software parts required and where you could purchase them.

Most of the programmable boards are already available on the market. All you have to do is plug and play everything. Good luck for your project, hope to see your from the scratch hardware wallet soon.
367  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much do I need to start mining? on: May 22, 2023, 12:59:49 PM
Currently, there are no Bitcoin ASIC units below $300 mostly the price is above $1k but if you want to mine Bitcoin then you can buy 2nd hand S9 units zeusBTC is selling used units you can check it from this link below

Then search s9 or you can try to check available units from here https://t.me/asicMinerChannel/5668 or contact offordscott here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1449095
He is not so active here unlike on his telegram group above.

There is no problem splitting your investment into mining and trading and you can grow in mining if your electricity rate is pretty cheap.

Just got myself informed from one of the post that I was discussing in that you can still buy upgraded version of Gekkoscience Mining USB stick. It is currently sold at 299 euros which is pretty cheap. It is embedded with ASIC chip and is able to mine at 350 GH/s.

This is not a bad option for the person who is just starting with the mining. Plus, there is no complicated set up behind the stick. It’s almost plug and play type of miner category. You can easily get along with the pool settings, learn more about it while mining and thus later can upgrade to new versions or bigger antminers.

I have not explored the website fully but they are from Germany and delivers world wide.
368  Economy / Economics / Re: Bhutan a small nation to bet on Crypto for Funding's. on: May 22, 2023, 11:37:54 AM
Bhutan is willing to partner with BitDeer to set up 100 mega watt mining data center. That is definitely lot of investment in such small country and it will help Bhutan to bring institutional investors into their country for sure.

And when we finally have some nice thing happen there must be some writer for some newspaper exaggerating everything.

The whole thing is pretty easy:
- Bhutan has enough free energy that goes to waste since it can't export it
- Bitdeer comes in, sets up a datacenter, and brings in a few thousand machines that will run 24/7 and suck that energy but now paying for it
- Bhutan gets cash for what it has previously thrown away and Bitdeer gets profits from mining with cheap energy

But! This doesn't mean a single other thing.
Why would an investor come to Bhutan just because there is a data center there?
Why are there no institutional investors rushing to Salvador when we had the same hype about it?
https://twitter.com/nayibbukele/status/1402714926800674827

Why can't we have news, just news without sensationalism?

Yeah, after seeing that Tweet and reading the 3-4 messages in it, everything started to look dark.  Grin
Well at least we can say that, we will have more mining power, Bhutan will get nice electricity pay checks, few hundreds labors working around hydro power, engineers may be and some of them enrolling in data center.

We can put it this way, Bhutan will at least start consuming it's natural resources, lit up some more ideas (may be), sharing electricity to nearby locations and get paid for it.

The possibilities are endless but well, they will need management team who will actually think in that way.

Why institutional investors would come and visit the Bhutan, that Idk really but let us say there may be more mining hubs from other manufacturers.

If not, then that won't excite us in an argument or discussion. lol.  Tongue
369  Economy / Economics / Bhutan a small nation to bet on Crypto for Funding's. on: May 22, 2023, 10:29:49 AM
In an astoundingly positive news today, small nation with only 800,000 total population is planning on using crypto currencies and calling for investors to fund their national projects. Bhutan is more or less well being centric country with no agenda for the economic growth. Obviously this is based on their strategic geo location which is mostly in the hills and mountains.

However, recently same geo location is about to change the face of their economic growth. They have multiple sites throughout their country where Hydropower set ups can be done easily.

Bhutan is willing to partner with BitDeer to set up 100 mega watt mining data center. That is definitely lot of investment in such small country and it will help Bhutan to bring institutional investors into their country for sure.

Druk Holding & Investment is state owned commercial company which looks after investment, digital projects, and basically money matters within the country. DHI chief is all set to bring up the nation on next level of Digitalization and thus Bhutan can soon see economic growth as well.

It is wonderful that various nations are opting for the Crypto Side of the world when it come down to the economic growth and funding sources.

Bhutan is investing in everything from bitcoin mining to drone technology as the Himalayan kingdom turns to new-age businesses in search of fast growth and returns.

Druk Holding & Investments, the state-owned commercial holding company, will start pitching to investors this month to raise up to $500mn for a crypto mining business after partnering with Singaporean group Bitdeer, one of the world’s largest bitcoin miners.

Bhutan’s bet on crypto, which follows that of other countries such as El Salvador and the Central African Republic, comes despite the sell-offs, contagion and scandals that have rocked the sector. The isolated country of 800,000 only allowed television and internet in 1999 and is known for its gross national happiness metric, which prioritises wellbeing over economic growth.

370  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: May 21, 2023, 01:04:20 PM
I have lost the track here due to no images getting showed on the entire thread. Neither the OP images are visible so far. Is it possible for someone to show what these miner look like? I am more than interested in knowing if the “sticks” are really worth buying or not. I am surfing the forum for clues to know which miner could be way easier for new comer (in mining field).

I am not sure if this is similar to those USB miner sticks but the name suggests the same. However I am not able to tally the power which some of you stating more 300-500 GH for the sticks. Is this new generation USB or something that is so powerful? Or I’m talking about entirely different miner which is out dated already.

These are the latest iteration of sidehacks (Gekkoscience) USB miner. Here's some info on one of the approved resellers websites:-

https://www.bitshopper.de/shop/sha-256-miner/usb-miner-bitcoin/compac-f/

Thats amazing to see the sticks still works? I thought these were outdated long ago considering the fact that hash rate is pumping up lately and difficulty of the network is off the roof! It's cool to know that they are able to keep up with the profitability with such small device. I am wondering why everyone is into big sounding ASICs if small units are capable of doing the hashrate performance well up to 350 GH/s. I know miners are gone way up to TH/s capacity but isn't the stick can solve cooling power, low maintenance and thus one can have rows of sticks in a farm!

Quote
The miner is equipped with an AntMiner BM1397 ASIC chip, which is also used in the well-known AntMiner S17 and S17 Pro.

An adapted version of the well-known standard mining software CGMiner is available for the miner. This allows the clock rate of both ASICs to be adjusted using console parameters. In addition, a voltage regulator is installed, which allows the core voltage to be set from 550 mV to 800 mV without soldering skills.

If they already have the desired mechanism, and capability to solve the complex algo's then why we are not developing this tech into ideal working model. Imagine we were talking on the hallow tube driven telephones were a manual operator was the middle man and today we can reach anywhere in blink of an eye with our smartphones.

Isnt that is also possibility in the mining technology ?
371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Budget For Halving on: May 21, 2023, 12:19:06 PM
am seeing out budgetary plans to invest exactly $90,000 in bitcoins in 2024. When others are impatient, I usually plan. The plan is to get this from my saving and loan. The action for more savings was kick started last month, it can see me through to the time of the investment when I will stop.

Does halving really works its magic on the prices? Ah yes definitely it does and it will make it even more valuable as the rewards halves for the miners and thus more demand.

However, just because it works and it is life changing opportunity it does not mean you should be investing into Bitcoin with your "loan". That is way crazy idea. The bank loans are charged with interest and you have to return the surplus amount within loan terms. What would you do if this time halving does not do much of the changes in the bitcoin pricing? Wouldn't that be crazy burden on your shoulders since you spent savings and plus you took the loans for the same?

Man, just think twice about it before investing. It is still highly volatile market and the most unpredictable market. I am not demotivating you, I am just trying to tell you that you dont loan when its unstable asset.

373  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What will happen if this congestion continues on: May 19, 2023, 03:53:13 PM
What’s frightening on this thread I learned is, miner can choose their own transactions that are to be mined. Imagine someday greedy miners try to mine only higher fee payers and thus keeping those who are paying less fees for their transactions.

Will it be possibility? In addition to that what effect this could have on the mining, the network, the transactions that are getting piled up in the pending list? Isn’t this is something one could not believe can happen as normal user of bitcoin. Is this also stands as drawback of having mining power and also if goes beyond certain limit then one could control the network. That seems not impossible.
374  Economy / Speculation / Re: Know your time to HOLD on: May 19, 2023, 10:58:48 AM
You have answered your question itself. I mean the biggest challenge in the HODL is your patience itself which you seem to be breaking apart in very short period of time. Thats the thing actually we don’t want to let go when hodling the bitcoin. Two months is really nothing and you could end up waiting for years to hike the prices up to the classic mark. Imagine about the investors who has their bitcoin in wallet or cold storage since many years now. I am sure that is the example we need to keep in our eyes.
375  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the difference between banks and big whales in crypto? on: May 19, 2023, 09:55:47 AM
Ehh, I don’t think there is any comparison between the two. The whales are big bag holders of bitcoin and they earn money with the investments they have made into it. The profits are actually booked with the price hikes, DCA investments, buy and sell cycles and staking. They earn higher because bitcoin up transition is always high as compared to savings, FD, and loan interests. That is nothing however collective earnings are huge for the banks. Government or private sector banks they will also have commercial bank accounts with billions in transactions happening everyday or may be more on international scales. Imagine the interest they would be earning. Basically whales are earning high range money but that is being done on their individual levels too.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A new milestone: 1M addresses hold 1 Bitcoin on: May 18, 2023, 06:55:44 PM
That’s good I never doubted bitcoin and bitcoiners holding it in their wallets. There might be many more than that who posses one full bitcoin because we have been through many years now and people are already filling up their wallets all the time.

There might thousands of them who are already on this forum. I mean most of the mixer participants and old campaign participants might have gone way beyond 2-3 bitcoins in their wallets already. Considering the fact that most of them might not have sold since 4-5 years in a row or they did DCA investment.

377  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: "Trustless Computer" on Bitcoin? Information/opinions? on: May 18, 2023, 04:51:04 PM
I am not expert in the field but after doing some research it seems the definition and working mode of the dApps is completely different than what you are explaining here. Just to know I read that most of the dApps are running on the Smart Contracts and they are on chain. There is no way they are getting embedded in the Bitcoin packets.

If dApps were running via trustless computer then they would have never gotten their confidence over smart contracts and their irreversible nature. That is the core reason they are also used in the financial services, social media and much more where once you perform an action, you are done.

Quote
How dapps work
Dapps have their backend code (smart contracts) running on a decentralized network and not a centralized server. They use the Ethereum blockchain for data storage and smart contracts for their app logic.

A smart contract is like a set of rules that live on-chain for all to see and run exactly according to those rules. Imagine a vending machine: if you supply it with enough funds and the right selection, you'll get the item you want. And like vending machines, smart contracts can hold funds much like your Ethereum account. This allows code to mediate agreements and transactions.

Once dapps are deployed on the Ethereum network you can't change them. Dapps can be decentralized because they are controlled by the logic written into the contract, not an individual or a company.
378  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Thinking of creating a discord server and send signals that we feel are legits on: May 18, 2023, 01:03:26 PM
Note: I am still in the process of setting up the discord server(channels, coding the bots, and writing rules and all ), so the server might look a little empty for now  😅

You will have to be far beyond your roadmap and then launch your services here. By what you mentioned above it’s clear that your front end and back end isn’t ready to launch. That itself is path towards failure. Unfortunately we have hundreds of such channels telling their story and asking to join.

In many instances when groups grow bigger they turn themselves into a pump and dump channel. It becomes place to work for owner where they tell everyone to buy X coin and everyone end up making the owner rich since they buy it before the pump.

That’s just one case scenario of making such channels.

Better create it first, make sure everything works and looks fine in the end product. Once done maybe launch it with proper ANN.
379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2.4% People from Bangladesh Hold Cryptocurrency on: May 18, 2023, 12:17:48 PM
Whether stats are true or not can not be confirmed with the references given online. The article itself was written after assessing few of the other news channels and posts around the internet. There is no way stats can be made accurately for the bitcoin. I mean there are hundreds and thousands of addresses are generated from a second to minute and there is no limit on the same.

How one could be sure that there are 2.4% of the population holding the bitcoin? There could be single person holding hundreds of addresses. Some may be newly generated, some may be unused, some may be forgotten and etc etc.

So that is first concern here. Secondly, though government bans it, it won't affect the operation of Bitcoin. All you need is an internet connection and way to go around it. You are all set use it from anywhere. Thats the beauty of it.
380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some people started their BTC journey when things were more hopeless on: May 17, 2023, 05:17:33 PM
I am already trying to push my wallet way ahead my limits but without disturbing my family expenses. That to be noted and implemented because bitcoin wont matter much when you grow old and almost in the garden waiting for death sentence from the God. Better collect it in such manner that you get best of the both worlds. For example, slowly wallet balance is rising but sooner you find yourself in a situation where there is need of those bitcoins and they need to be sold. You cant help yourself but sell them in an emergency situation.

However, one thing to make sure that you can easily get back your bitcoins. May be in few months you may divert little extra money into bitcoin thus keeping your average buy or price, whatever you choose to take.

You beginners have no excuses, it is safer to be in Bitcoin now than to be out of Bitcoin, just, Believe, you will lament to have 0.1BTC very soon, now is the time to believe in Bitcoin and HoDL.
You can work, have salary & money, make your savings and use part of savings for your investment in Bitcoin.

You have to do this gradually, accumulate bitcoin gradually but with money from your own pocket. Don't borrow money to buy bitcoin. Don't invest if you need that money  for something more important for your life.

Investment is risky so you must afford to lose your capital before you start your investment journey with Bitcoin.

Dollar Cost Averaging is helpful.
https://dcabtc.com/

Excellent tool mate. This is what I am talking about when I said you have to average your investment. This is just right tool for any investor of bitcoin. In the long period one can use it wisely and make good wealth for themselves.
