Nothing x1000

Binance coin I do not know if it will be x100, because it already made x10 last month, but it will do at least another x10 by the end of the year.

Bitbost and Redpulse x100 ------- next ico in september

In order to hit a full homerun of x1000, you have to buy right at the beginning, so you either buy a succesful ICO like ETH, STRAT and so on (look on www.icostats.com) or you buy in the market when it's still flat. Once the first pump happens, it's over, the chances of hitting a x1000 are just too rare.

Look at any graph and it's easy to see when the first flat period ends and then that's it. Also if you buy during the flat period, it's harder to end up bagholding. The problem is, catching a good coin during that period is extremely hard.

Yeah also it requires less human input and work but gold is what makes fiat valuable and fiat makes Bitcoin valuable. It's a chain. In old times people used gold to trade and now we are using fiat but you can still sell your gold and get fiat.Bitcoin will be the same. There won't be a domination of a single currency.

Lol I think this is a pretty backwards way to think about this. Fiat is no longer related to gold, fiat is it's own thing separated from gold. "Gold is what makes fiat valuable" hasn't been the case for years.

What makes Bitcoin valuable is supply and demand, just like gold. We compare it to fiat because fiat is stable and has huge liquidity.

363  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: August 21, 2017, 01:48:44 PM
The odds are stacked up against Conor McGregor in this match. I can’t imagine how he’d stand a chance against Mayweather, where 49  legit boxers have failed and can’t even figure out how to solve the Mayweather puzzle. This would be more of a circus and the hype this fight is going to generate is what’s going to make it exciting, not the actual fight itself. This might not even go the distance as Conor isn’t used to fighting longer than 25 minutes.

Conor has:

-Height advantage
-Reach advantage
-Age advantage
-Power advantage (allegedly, for we don't know how strong his punches will be on boxing gloves)

That's about it. He has to use his advantages and try to KO him in the first rounds. If it goes beyond round 5... things will become increasingly impossible for Conor.

Mayweather will keep distance for the first round, then jab him into desperation and get the most points. If he gets caught in a bad angle, Mayweather can KO him too. When you catch someone in a bad angle doing the wrong movement, you don't need tremendous power to KO. Mayweather used to have it all when he was young, KO power too, not anymore, but again, he still can punch with enough power to KO someone if he's caught in the wrong moment

Conor is probably an Olympian level boxer at best, so he will make a lot of mistakes.

McGregor is not even an Olympian level boxer....He's just a brawler.  Mayweather will pick this guy apart ---> easily.  Mayweather is not a brawler so he wouldn't stand a chance in the octagon, but its his fight, on his terms, in the ring, so it's his fight.  And, Mayweather's age is probably an asset in the ring as opposed to a liability, but his age would be a clear disadvantage in the octagon ----> experience and wisdom carry a lot of weight in the ring, not so much in the octagon.

Well in theory McGregor is a counterpuncher too, I don't think you can call him a brawler, but in a straight boxing match he may come off as brawler-ish. Maidana was a hell of a brawler and gave Mayweather a hard time the first fight, but the second fight Mayweather already knew his style and he picked Maidana apart.

I can't wait to see the fight, honestly it's going to be weird as fuck and that makes it interesting.
364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: August 20, 2017, 02:53:06 PM
Can McGregor KO Mayweather? Sure, if he's lucky enough, but people saying the opposite is impossible must be boxing casuals.

Have you even boxed anyone skilled in real life?
Most of the fights i watched with McGregor ,every time i see it as a lucky punch at first and then after carefully viewing then we would know that he is looking for that punch, what if the reflex is not that great with age with Mayweather, can he be tagged and if so,will that be a lucky punch in regard to his age. Wink I have boxed as an amateur but the level of Mayweather is another planet when it comes to pure boxing skills and if this fight was in both their primes then there is no way McGregor could catch him in any way shape or form.

Im not overlooking McGregor, he is great, but honestly, to KO Mayweather in a boxing match with a 0-0 pro boxing record you are going to need some luck.

Jose Aldo walked in McGregor's punch, I doubt Mayweather will commit the same mistake. He says he will come forward, I think he will but not as much as Jose Aldo which like I said parked his face on McGregors punch, big mistake when he has the bigger reach. Floyd will be a bit more aggressive than usual but he will not do anything stupid just to entertain the casuals.

"I want a system that can process infinite amounts of traffic" is in the land of unicorns. The accusation of dev laziness is particularly rich, given that SatoshiDICE abused the blockchain in this way, by sending informational messages (IM "You lost a bet") via the blockchain. If you want an infinite amount of transactions per 10 minutes, you have just reinvented the Internet... over the blockchain. Poorly.

one cannot ignore a key attribute conferring by a limit like the 1MB limit: it encourages engineering efficiencies to be sought. Programmers have an incentive to actively seek ways to reduce the number of transactions, or reduce transaction size, when faced with a limited resource. Some business models simply don't care about that part of the equation. It's not a conspiracy by Gavin and the Bitcoin Foundation funders, it is simply one facet of some bitcoin businesses. They make money with increased transaction volume. That's fine, but a key economic counter-point is that these businesses are not bearing the costs of the mining/blockchain impact of a million-TX-per-day policy.

A hard fork is a significant event that knocks legitimate users off the network, makes coins unspendable, or potentially makes the same coins spendable in two different locations, depending on whether or not you're talking to an updated node. It is, to pick a dramatic term, an Extinction Level Event. If done poorly, a hard fork could make it impossible for reasonable merchants to trust the bitcoins they receive, the very foundation of their economic value. Furthermore, a hard fork is akin to a Constitutional Convention: a hard fork implies the ability to rewrite the ground rules of bitcoin, be it block size, 21M limit, SHA256 hash, or other hard-baked behavior. Thus, there is always the risk of unpredictable miners, users and devs changing more than just the block size precisely because it makes the most engineering sense to change other hard-to-change features at the time of hard-fork. It is a nuclear option with widespread economic consequences for all bitcoin users.

Boy that's a shortsighted analysis. Bitcoin will grow layers above the base layer -- the blockchain -- that will enable instant transactions, microtransactions, and other scalable issues. Do not think that the blockchain is the only way to transfer bitcoins. Larger aggregators will easily compensate for current maximum block size in a scalable manner. All nation-state/fiat currencies are multi-layer. Too many people look at what bitcoin does now, and assume that those are the only currency services that will ever exist.

the blocks would become full at 8MB, and it would be a mess for you to run a node, you simply couldn't.

obviously you're talking out of your ass.  8mb is still a tiny amount of data.  It takes me about 1.3 seconds to download 8MB.

Wrong, there's more than that:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2941&v=iFJ2MZ3KciQ

Sorry, no big blocks for you, Tim. You can bitch and moan all you want, but the real Bitcoin will not have 8MB anytime soon. You can stick to Bitcoin Trash if that makes you sleep at night. Enjoy your 15 seconds of fame while this pump lasts. Im glad I didn't dump all of my BCash myself, I will be able to get some extra free real BTC when I can be arsed to get them set in the wallet (reason BCC has a big marketcap is most people are still too lazy to get their coins or didn't even realize they received any coins). Also im sure the big big whales didn't even dump 1% of their wealth yet.
367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshis Original Vision on: August 19, 2017, 01:34:31 PM
Maybe you sold your BCH and you are scared now. The rational scalation solution was simply increase block size. Segwit don't allow transactions with 0 fee for example. People don't want to pay to open a Lightning channel, they want cheap transactions and total control of their money. Instant transactions (offchain) are possible too with Bitcoin Cash so I'm sure that Bitcoin Segwit will fail.

When will big blockers understand the fact that you can't have "total control of your money" when you are handling the full validating nodes into the hands of corporations that will be validating everything for you because the blocks are too big to do it yourself?

BCash was DOA. They raised the blocksize limit and they can't even fill 1MB blocks because no one uses it, laughable.

We don't need to rush any hardforks anytime soon, if you support a hardfork you will lose your money every time.

I don't understand, does corporations have some kind of magical hard drive that the regular user can't obtain? I have six 10TB drive sitting on my desk right now, I can run 500 redundant copies of Bitcoin blockchain on them. Why do I need corporation to run a node?

It's not only about the storage, which would be growing exponentially and you would end up pissed off yourself eventually too, but about latency. Check this explanation of 3 minutes of why big blocks are stupid:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2941&v=iFJ2MZ3KciQ

Except full 8MB blocks Bitcoin current exists and works just fine, kinda defeats his argument right there. I run an abc node for BCash, my node works just fine, why should I be pissed off again?

It works fine because nobody is using it. If everyone was using Bitcoin ABC (AsicBoostCash) then the blocks would become full at 8MB, and it would be a mess for you to run a node, you simply couldn't. Also you aren't taking into consideration the latency issue.

Big blocks just don't work, but big blockers live on Willy Wonka's world and stay delusional to the technical realities.

Do you think, actors/actresses in film industry are in bitcoins?

How about the royalties, sheikhs, prince and any others?

Lastly, if you can describe your "Bitcoin Life", what movie it would be?

Bro just take a look at Floyd Mayweather Jr. He supported the stox and said that he could earn a lot from it. If you are not believing it try to search it he has a post on instagram I think that he is into cryptocurrency earning and already earning from his investment. Will you look at him you can't see on his face that he is a bitcoiner just like us.

Floyd got paid a ton of money for that single instagram post to promote Stox, he just added the #bitcoin hashtag to get more traffic. I doubt he owns bitcoin or cares about any of this. I mean he might have appointed someone to buy him some who knows... but I doubt it. This was just a marketing move from the Stox guys to pump their ICO, that is all.

Who else besides Jihan Wu could be mining this mess? Could "other" be the famous hashrate that Craig Wright was talking about? Is is another hidden mining farm by Jihan?

It's obvious GarzikCoin (aka btc1, aka Segwit2x) is an attack on BTC to destabilize the main chain, and once they cause the damage, they may support BCash. BCash does what Craig Wright said (no segwit and bigger blocks until total centralization of nodes). Seems like a theory to consider.

I still believe that Conor Mc Gregor will win this fight even Mayweather has an advantage of the situation of a boxer.

I believe one punch power of McGregor!
Me too!! GayWeather is known for his defense when he is  boxing low-key boxers like Manny.Gregor ain't no joke,UFC wrestlers  are more brutal towards punches and knockouts.Little does GayWeather know about the rules anyway.

https://degenbet.com/3-reasons-8oz-gloves-might-not-think-mayweather-vs-mc-gregor/

Three reasons why 8oz gloves might not be what you think
Doesn't really matter. You put a Lion in the cage with a leather hunter master or silver chain master,he's still the Lion in the ring.

Again more trash from boxing casuals that think being good at MMA = being good at boxing.

Mayweather is a complete fighter. He can fight going forward, backwards, in the pocket, off the ropes, in the clinch, at mid-range, behind the philly shell, behind a high guard, against swarmers, against southpaws, against bigger fighters, against faster fighters, and anything else I forgot to mention.

McGregor is no different, he will adapt for a couple of rounds then perform surgery on him.

McGregor often cites Prince Nassem as an inspiration... Prince Nassem got exposed and so did the entire "unorthodox, weird" style that he had going once he fought a top boxer. I suspect this will end up the same.

The only thing that can stop Mayweather is his age showing up on the match, but it looks like he is in good shape. So stars will need to align for McGregor to get a KO during the first rounds if he wants to win, otherwise it will get exponentially harder.

https://degenbet.com/3-reasons-8oz-gloves-might-not-think-mayweather-vs-mc-gregor/

Three reasons why 8oz gloves might not be what you think

Like I said before, 8oz benefiting McGregor is not clear to me. The extra padding on 10oz could help Mayweather from Conor's power, but 8oz makes Mayweather even faster, and this could keep Conor away from going against the ropes and trying to turn the fight into a brawl, so Mayweather could implement his hit and run wizard moves even better with the smaller gloves.

It's only 1 week away, i can't fucking wait for this hypejob to be over. Im not going to miss it im sure of that.

Most Copycats failed woefully trying to replicate this forum... Those that suceeded abit failed to attract good numbers of loyal members. The forums, no matter how beautiful, are boring and depressing

The possible reason for this Forum success maybe be due to the success of Bitcoin  & the niche it creates for the forum.
So rather than getting greedy & looking for means to become rich from forum ad revenue, focus more on carving out "a niche forum" other businesses/companies cannot exist without or better still create a forum the existence of other Altcoins would depend on

To be frank, I think only Ethereum founder could successfully replicate this forum due to the number of Altcoins that depend on Ethereum.
The Founder could easily unite these Altcoins under a Forum, . where they can come together to share ideas, softwares, products and services. He could go as far as making the forum impossible to avoid.. by making it mandatory for Altcoins that depend on Ethereum Network .  In the end, a giant business environment where Ethereum fans and job seekers can work & earn Ethereum & Bitcoin will be created.

So,  maybe focus on a business/product other companies would depend on to suceed then build a forum & gather the companies to exchange ideas, products and services.

No one can replicate this forum. This forum has the "original" aura, because satoshi posted here and it started here, a ton of historical information on bitcoin and therefore on crypto as a whole is stored here. Satoshi is often quoted in the forum here. This forum is too big to be replaced.

Just like nobody can replicate the original bitcoin, because it has that special aura with satoshi the anonymous developer, the original coin etc.

People wanting to earn ETH could search for people offering ETH in the services section here.

You can try to improve on it, but you can't replicate it.

Lol please stop shitposting. Bitcoin Crash was dead on arrival, it will never get anywhere notable. While Ethereum is a scam, at least it provided some innovation and new ideas. Bitcoin Cash is a dumb ass hardforked Bitcoin with a bigger blocksize. The marketcap of BCash doesn't reflect the current situation. Most people holding coins didn't even bother to sell yet or didn't even notice because they are long term holders and are busy with other things.

The process of dumbing the fork can be dangerous so a lot of people just held both, doesn't mean they support BCash.

It is official now that 8oz gloves will be used in the fight:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9bQF0BLs8c

A lot of people are saying that this benefits McGregor because he is the big puncher in this fight. But it's not clear to me. Now Mayweather's hands are even faster, and receiving sharp punches repeatedly can be more painful than a single big shot. I think nothing has changed, Mayweather is still the fighter with the better odds. Floyd has fought most of his fight at 8oz anyway.
If you just want to talk in Gayweather's favour ,please do but don't come up with irrelevant logic to support your opinions.Attack has never been Gayweather's game so regardless of the gloves,he's still going to run around like a rat.On the brighter side,McGregor is known to punch non-stop until the target is down.I can't wait to see him taking this rat down.

Ehh, Mayweather has more wins by KO's than McGregor's total fight amounts.

Only because he hasn't KO'd out anyone for a long time, it doesn't mean he can't KO someone if that someone is an amateur boxer compared to him.

If McGregor's defense isn't on point, repeated hits to the head and body for 8+ rounds can put you into the canvas.

Can McGregor KO Mayweather? Sure, if he's lucky enough, but people saying the opposite is impossible must be boxing casuals.

Have you even boxed anyone skilled in real life?

The search function on this forum is fucked. According to that thread, IOTA had (again) a very scammy launch, similar to ETH, possibly worse.

Agree, the forums search is not good. Use Google instead and search the forum by adding site:bitcointalk.org <search term> . It works like a charme.

It's sad how much marketing plays a role in the success of a cryptocurrency. IOTA spent a lot on marketing, now they are everywhere and got people hyped. Meanwhile a cool project like Byteball is staying under the radar. Hopefully eventually it gets more attention, so far I benefit from it staying under the radar since the distribution is still happening, but as far as I know Byteball tech is better than what IOTA got to offer, and the distribution (even if far from ideal) is not a scam (compared to IOTA).

Its just not true. IOTA spend less on marketing. The coin was completely under the surface before it hit Bitfinex the exchange eight weeks ago. But it already had a lot of followers and interesting people on the official slack channel. Nearly all communication was done there. IOTA got early attention by companies like Microsoft ( if I am right, it was the first coin in alpha state that was added to Azure platform ) and some others like a German energy company. This was not a result by marketing, but by the great tech. The money they got from the ICO are peanuts compared to the most ICOs today. The ICO was in the end of 2015 and the collected Bitcoins were worth $600k at this time. Not much space for marketing.

Well, im judging by the amount of people in Youtube talking about it. These days, you don't know who is getting paid to talk about a certain topic. All these youtubers talking about IOTA could very well be reporting on the success of IOTA organically OR they could have been paid to get traffic into the project and get the snowball rolling, which would be investing on marketing... who is to say?

In any case, it seems like this was amazing buy at the ICO, just like STRAT. Another opportunity to get rich lost, now it's too late.

If you do need a bigger dish they are common and used on eBay. I saw how to use
the OuterNet via those instead. I still think this unit is likely to work on the USA Satellite in
the above links with only the small Reciever plate.
I think you could just use a DirectTV satellite dish. There are tons of those on buildings around where I live, and a lot of them probably aren't in use.

But what if you are in North Korea?  I was wondering if it would be possible to make the first transaction ever in Best Korea now that there are satellites broadcasting the blockchain.

But you say these devices only receive data. If so then how do you broadcast your transaction back into the blockchain if internet is blocked on the entire country and there are no wifi signals or anything? Let alone the fact that there aren't even computers or cellphones.

You would need a tourist to smuggle you a phone with wallet software installed, but even then, what do you exactly do with it?

I wonder who will be the first to manage to broadcast a bitcoin transaction in North Korea, that would be epic.
It is currently receive only because transmitting to the satellite requires a lot of power and extra stuff that most people won't be able to get. The satellite is best for those who have a poor internet connection; they can't download the blockchain because it is too big, but they can still broadcast transactions as those are tiny. The satellite allows those people to also be able to get the blockchain (well part of it, only new blocks right now)

Well the next step then for true global reach is to develop a way to be able to send and receive data from the satellites with realistic gear. That would be a way to not depend on the internet at all. Some sort of device that allows you to do some basic transactions, ideally modular so you can smuggle parts in totalitarian countries like Best Korea.

Imagine how cool it would be to be transacting inside that country, now that would be disruption.

It is official now that 8oz gloves will be used in the fight:

A lot of people are saying that this benefits McGregor because he is the big puncher in this fight. But it's not clear to me. Now Mayweather's hands are even faster, and receiving sharp punches repeatedly can be more painful than a single big shot. I think nothing has changed, Mayweather is still the fighter with the better odds. Floyd has fought most of his fight at 8oz anyway.

I have no knowledge about satellite technology, but my concern is, are those devices capable of transmitting data or for receiving only? Much better if its design in two way link.

Recieve only. But for wallet use w/cell phone likely cheap and untraceable in a corrupt
Country with cell phone prepaid. Comes to mind anyway.

The buildup to this fight is unbelievable and hilarious. Paulie Malignaggi is still talking and everything he's saying is still entertaining to me. Jeff Mayweather was interviewed and said Conor's boxing looked like trash in his sparring clip with Malignaggi where some said it was a knockdown and others said it was a push down.

I wish we had fights like this more often. It makes everything else in boxing and MMA to an extent look boring.

I think Paulie Malignaggi is going to make more money thanks to this fight where he isn't even fighting at than he did in his entire boxing career. He has got tons of exposure and he has landed a good job in Showtime as a commentator.

Now imagine if Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi did an actual fight. It wouldn't be as huge as Floyd vs Conor but it would easily make more money than anyone he could ever fight at the UFC. And McGregor has his own promotions company now so he could do it.

You think one day we'll see more boxing match from UFC vs IBF/WBO?

I remember he commented about real men fight upright but it would be an interesting to see a rematch going to be on octagon too. FLoyd will train himself with jujitso and ground fights.

There have been crossover fights already where a boxer went into UFC. James Toney vs Randy Couture is the one I remember and James Toney got his ass whooped into submission. But then again as far as I know James Toney didn't train properly, and he looked like he came out straight off McDonalds.

After august 26th I doubt Floyd will bother to fight again. Unless there's a 9 figure payday, then I think he might actually try an Octagon fight. What matters is his boxing record, I think think the would care about an MMA loss.
