I use the Certificate Patrol and Perspectives Firefox extensions. I've also disabled most of the CAs in Firefox, though Firefox's handling of invalid certificates is pretty bad, so I don't recommend doing this unless you're paranoid.
(If this is OffTopic, let me know. Smiley )
The only problem with Perspectives is they only authenticate the first connection, other stuff on the website, pics, forms are still vulnerable. Have you thought about using Convergence instead? http://convergence.io/

Currently only PayPal is supported (I know we all hate it, but there isn't a choice at the moment). Your feedback is definitely welcome!
Huh

hmm. interesting. removing the http:// corrected the poclbm issue, (yay!) but for p2pool poclbm says "Problems communicating with bitcoin RPC 1 2"

EDIT: although, sincei can just connect to p2pmining.com, i suppose, for now, it's a non issue. thanks for the help smoov!
GUIminer, for me at least, doesn't seem to like to remember the port I want it on in between runs, putting it back to 8332 when I run it again. Did it do that this time?

Should be 9332

-- Smoov

nope. not that. wait... it... oh for fucks sake. i had typed 9333 before. *headdesk* shoot me now. it's working fine.
I was close. It was a port issue, just didn't involve a firewall.  Grin

(there's also 2 versions of the B: ฿ or Ƀ)
I actually like that second one: Ƀ
Reminds me of a Dee which stands for digital.

There are quite a few others to choose from like, ⊍⊍

I talked with an Ancient Medicinal Botanical Manuscript Expert and it is his opinion that the botanical images are of real species and on a cursory examination of the images he identified 4 plants absolutely. If it is a fraud, it is a very elaborate fraud.

What happened to using ฿ ??

-- Smoov

That is already taken by the Thai baht. Wouldn't want to be confused with a Fiat currency. This one is unique and not used for any currency and is a mathematical symbol to boot.

hey guys. having a little difficulty getting setup here. my miner (ufasoft, through guiminer) isn't able to complete a handshake with a locally running p2pool node. the handshake is timing out. any thoughts?
Firewall rules. Allow the port for p2pool.

Written in some strange language or encypherment so mystifying that even the NSA code breakers could not uncover it's secrets. The book is divided into botanical, astronomical and prescriptive with 15 century characters in the astronomy sections. The vellum of the book has been carbon dated to the 15th century and is believed to be a 15th century document by most. It is a fascinating work that amazes and confounds.

I personally think it includes Ancient Armenian script and Byzantine Musical Notation originating from within the Persian region along the silk road. I think it was made for Queen Isabella of Portugal as she was having birthing issues and died as a result of birthing her 6th child. Portugal was also moving away from importing spices via the silk road and getting their own supplies direct from India. The book may have been a diplomatic effort to renew negotiations as well.

The total network is producing ⊅7450 per 24hrs for 11.91 TH/s. How many ⊅ per GH/s is that?
http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/

How does that compare to the current expected value of ⊅0.58016 per GH/s based on the current difficulty?
What is the current p2pool payout per GH/s?

Being PPLNS, the payout to each address is dependent upon the total shares in the chain, and the number of shares at that the address has in the chain. The share finding functions similarly to how block finding does, IIRC, so it's ****-based. For example, with 1.3ghash in my miner, my payout fluctuates between .17BTC/block found and .26BTC/block found. It would be difficult to use your suggested calculations in order to determine the overall pool **** over time, or even today.
Huh

I have only used p2pool and my current daily average = ⊅0.66846 per Gigahash.
Are you tracking your received ⊅ from p2pool?
Do you know when you started using p2pool?
If yes, then developing an average payout per day is elementary.

Providing it in a stat page would be awesome. Previous 24hr total hashrate, Previous 24hr total payouts, history per day and a monthly average. I will donate 1 BTC to see it happen!

On the long term it doesn't matter too much because it will average. So, in the long term, you're better on p2pool.
In the past 90 days it averages 10% below average, but if that's OK...well, OK.

Maybe JayCoin can include a longer PPS average?
What we needs is better metrics, gozinta and gozouta is a good beginning.

I have only used p2pool:
My current daily average = ⊅0.66846 per Gigahash
The current expected ⊅BTC for the difficulty 1733208 is ⊅0.58016 per Gigahsh
My daily average is 15.24% better than the current expected payout.

The total network is producing ⊅7450 per 24hrs for 11.91 TH/s. How many ⊅ per GH/s is that?
http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/
Edit: It's ⊅0.62552 per GH/s. Wink
That means the total network is paying out 8.4% better than expected. I didn't expect the network to be having so much good luck. Hmm.

However, P2Pool is open source - there's no closed server that could be secretly diverting hashes.
It doesn't have to be p2pool software doing the diverting, there are other softwares installed also. I see p2pool more as a target than hiding some hidden attack/assault/diversion agenda.

It's either a bug somewhere (which I've been trying like mad to find) or just really bad luck.
Barring some "luck" bug, it may require thinking outside the p2pool software box.

How far back do your stats go, can there be a correlation between updates and efficiency/luck?
Can p2pool gather stats on miner software used, OS of a miner, miner software stats like efficiency, rejected, etc.?

Regardless, its still worth it to mine with P2Pool!

+1

10% is totally worth it.  Don't care if it is a bug, a security problem, bad luck, the phase of Ivpeter, "ghosts", whatever.
I get that you are willing to take one for the team, but where are you taking it? Are they using grease?

You have a widget factory and next door is another widget factory producing exactly what you are producing using the same equipment that you are using. Both of your products are priced the same. You have set up your equipment to be as productive as it can be without killing your workers. You have access to the exact same markets. If all things appear to be equal and yet you are producing 10% less then the widget plant next door, then the question is why? What is causing the 10% reduced production based on other widget manufacturers? Is it an internal issue or an external issue?

It appears that P2Pmining.com is down by 12 GH/s because some bigger miners feel similar, less profit at this P2Pool subPool.

Forrest has been working diligently to improve p2pool and has just introduced some important updates, if you haven't upgraded your instance of p2pool you should do so.

I know that what I posted above is only 4 documents of security threats, but there were a lot more advisories available for the versions being run with Tittiez XAMPP. I didn't want to clutter the thread or overwhelm a reader with excessive info, but only highlight the need to keep up to date. It's important to know what a security threat means to the end user, for that, much thanks Kano.
378  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: May 19, 2012, 03:18:04 AM
If luck is the explanation of the frequency of block discovery, then we are discovering 10% below what is possible on average. The below average discovery rate could indicate resource diversion, which has already been shown publicly to occur. You could say that "Luck" is how to explain away resource diversion.

Their attack is repetition, until we become weary and sleepingly allow criminally traitorous legislation to become enacted. The internet/copyright legislation is but one example of this attack method being used to take away freedoms which are already guaranteed by previous pre-existing laws. Rights which are already protected are being assaulted so that monopolistic forces can impose a more restrictive dissemination, indirectly controlling what you are allowed to think by limiting our access to resources.
There has been a constant assault on the Constitution for a very long time by those who hate it's creation. You could say it is an English resentment that has persisted in it's anger toward a document and a government that was so destructive to an English rule. Just imagine what might happen if other nations had instituted and fought for the ideals as those within America have done. They called it anarchy then, while today we are being told by "our" government that a Constitutionalist is an anarchist and most probably a terrorist. It appears to be the same forces still churning and opposing freedoms as those in the 1700's, so much so that it is just surreal.
380  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: May 19, 2012, 01:01:38 AM
90 day luck is consistently 10% below what is possible to be paid out. That would be like getting ⊅45 per block instead of the ⊅50 that is possible within the past 90 days. That isn't just bad luck, but either an attack on coin generation or some unknown design flaw (or a combination of both). I would expect the luck over 90 days to be much closer to 100% than it currently is.
