Hi @Alben........ You can check my post history...... I never complain about the price/value of anything.....it is what it is..... I don't own any VRC never owned any VRM....I've sold out some time ago(VRC) and am very

happy  with my profit. I do believe that digital currency is here to stay, and that there will be some very smart features introduced at some stage. My bitch is about too many ICO's that promise but never/under

deliver. The majority of Alts have no/limited use apart from trading. As a trader I accept my loss's and try to learn from them, I have never shouted angrily that I need a pump to get out. As for emotional/attachment

issues I care only about profit...if I see a good enough price move I sell everything and move on to the next opportunity....anything else would be madness. Happy trading to all...just don't believe the hype

Cheers Jon  Cool
I respect that and just to be clear I wasn't meaning you about emotion and wanting to just pump etc.  I got into vrc a few months ago and was lucky to sell some at 17000 Satoshi.  I typically range trade because the spreads are so high it's crazy profitable for those who can be patient with certain trades.  I understand critiquing ICOs.  Maybe Verium shouldn't have been an ICO..idk.  I know that one of Vericoin's struggles is having no marketing.  So it becomes a catch 22.  If there is zero hype, there is unfortunately much less chance of aspects of the technology being properly recognized for issues they solve.  Ideally the hype comes from users but you have to market to even have a chance to eventually have a user base.  I encourage people to do their own research and to trade without emotion.  I want people to invest in VeriCoin because I think it has some unique and brilliant (and necessary) components to the future of decentralized money, and awkwardly enough it takes investments and a growing market cap to be on people's radar. But I highly discourage anyone from investing more than a small amount.  At this stage it's essentially priced like a penny stock.  As much as I like the specifics, the market cap is what it is.  If the price goes to zero tomorrow I would of course lose money, wish the devs well in life, and go on investing and staying diversified.  For now the technology is still being developed and while there are low priced coins they are not dead at all from a development side.

Very well said. It is so self depreciating when people come into a forum claiming to own a stake in whatever coin and then, start bashing the Devs, the marketing, the development, etc. If they REALLY owned any doesn't logic dictate that they not TRY to drive the price down by bashing the product? Or, is that the point? Drive it down and buy, remain silent and sell? In reality, all you have to do is buy in, keep silent and wait. But of course, human nature prevents that from happening.

Makes one think they are all trolls. If I had a problem with the Devs I would PM them and work it out, not air my complaints and accusations in public for all to see. Oh well, no accounting for human nature...

I like the youtube video.
Let's see what VRM will do untill end of 2016 and early 2017.

Finally, some common sense. So much (fake?) anger here. Time is the great equalizer. Those with a short attention span will always be complaining about something that didn't go the way they envisioned while the rest of us watch and wait. It's a fact of life not lost here. To give new project a fair shake, come back in 6 months or a year and take stock of the situation. Then, and only then, you can complain if it still languishes in uncertainty.

Why not just close this thread and go back to veriforums.....the only reason it was reopened was a desperate attempt to grab some BTC with a dubious ICO

Cheers Jon  Angry
BTC? They never accepted any BTC. The ICO only accepted VRC.

What was dubious? if you gonna FUD next time, do some research.

There was a huge pump and then a dump on exchanges where it was sold for BTC.... I don't need lessons from fan boys! Dubious is when you reopen a closed thread just announce a ICO. Do some research yourself

Cheers Jon  Grin
Do you have any (blockchain) proof of that? You can check all the addresses (they are public for a reason) not a single VRC was sold.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/vrc/address.dws?433550.htm

I did my research, looks like you didn't. Be informed before making such claims next time.

They are really coming out of the woodwork huh? Of course there is no proof, proof works against FUD...

If I need a fanboy's opinion I'll pm you OK

Cheers  Jon Wink

Perhaps you should get of crypto, you are obviously disturbed, might not be good for health.

366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BitBay Thread |Smart Contracts Wallet UPDATE|Decentralized Marketplace on: October 13, 2016, 12:51:20 PM

To sum it up, BitBay's peg must be classified as a trust based peg, and has chosen the safer version -a soft peg. The rest is micro economics -supply and demand. The revolutionary concept is that it is decentralized! Every other peg is centralized, i.e., controlled and/or dependent on one person or group of persons. If he/they fail, the peg fails!

For me, a peg becomes the all encompassing reason a given instrument exists, meaning, it becomes so important, if the given peg fails, all confidence in the underlying instrument drains away fast. And then whatever news/updates/current development going on at that time becomes very secondary, to re-instating the peg. And even if its achieved, that confidence takes a while to return, if ever.

Interested to see how this pans out.

As am I. And, I agree with you on the all encompassing importance of the peg with one caveat, the other functions are just as important if they are to be used in the real world. If a coin is "pegged" but the functions it was designed for fail, what will happen? Say Bitbay becomes a big player in smart contracts and, it is pegged at 1 USD per coin. Now lets say the contract side is found to have a serious flaw that cannot be corrected destroying it's utility. What happens? Does the community continue to vote to maintain the peg or, do they decide to sell and run?

I don't think you can completely depend on the peg feature to maintain value if the rest of the system becomes useless. While I do agree that loosing the peg would create a situation that may not be recoverable, I also believe that the failure of the underlying technology may be even worse. It's a Ying/Yang relationship.

This why I don't mind whatever time it takes to develope and prove the coins functions prior to pegging even if there are others doing the same thing. The rest is marketing...

367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HAM - HamRadioCoin - SHA 256 - Crypto on the radio! Official Thread on: October 13, 2016, 12:40:39 PM
Traditional Ham radio is going bye-bye.  Not to say that new technologies and ways to communicate and develop idea is not still going to be around.  That is part of what these coins are as well as Ham radio.  The hard part is marrying HAM radio to a technology that is driven by value.  Part of being a Ham is that it is not supposed to be done for profit, although there are many ways that people make money off of Ham radio.

Aliases are coming out there in the coin world.  Maybe work on Wallets being having a Ham's callsign as an id.

Not sure if they give away prize money for some of the contest that Ham's traditionally hold, but that could be an avenue.  Radio hunts, Hamfests, cw contest.  If they award prizes for these things, there you go.

Hams get into helping out with disaster a lot.  Maybe some type of relief funds.  Maybe set up wallet networks that report info during a disaster.

In wallet contests.  Maybe CW tests.  Maybe exam prep.  Reward achievement with coins.

Just thoughts.  Wish I had more time to be involved, but do not.

Wherever you take this, good luck.  Lot's of Ham's in the world.  Lot's of tech geeks.  May they find a way!

If by "Traditional" you mean old guys sitting at a Heathkit tube set "chewing the fat" I would tend to agree but, that's not the case. Our club is making new Hams every month or so and some of them are in it for the traditional functions but, most are looking to share new ideas and technology. Guess where you live has a lot of impact on it.

I'm not completely convinced that a "coin" is needed but, if we only pursued things that were "needed" non of us would still be here.

Hallo!

I tryed to create a detailed compare sheet to give an overview about different solutions. This can help investors to create decisions. If there is a wrong information, please tell me, i will correct it.

There are still some gaps, if you know a mssing detail, please tell me.

Here is the compare sheet:

when this sheet is verified and completed, lasvegas will make a nice chart in cloakcoin style Smiley

The pr artikel is ready since yesturday evening and our dev controlled it in the meanwhile. Today in the evening it gets a last polish by a third person and than its ready to release.

we plan to release some more pr in the near future, e.g. what is cloakshield (onionrouting), release of new wallets or when we reached an important target.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

before we release there is an important move to do and therefor we need you too!

in the testnet posa worked with 10k transactions, but now in the livenet, its only possible to send small amounlts. when we start pr, this must work imo and i talked with dev about that.

please, all with good balances, start your wallets and let them run. we must provide a working posa3 infrastructure, especially when we make pr.

I suggest, that you open wallet with cloaks inside and turn on posa3! Please come to irc, this helps to coordinate tests.  remember that you earn money for processing posa3 transactions. Smiley

Thanks!

edit:
shadowcoin has no mobile wallet, this will be set to no in the next release.

Thanks for that, shows CLOAK is certainly a contender.

October Development Update

http://syscoin.org/syscoin-october-development-update/

We’ve been hard at work on Syscoin 2.1 and Blockmarket M1, we wanted to provide the community with an update since there is a lot going on internally but it may seem quiet from the outside. So here are some updates since our last blog post:

We are now listed on Bittylicious. Bittylicious is an exchange in UK for purchasing cryptocurrencies via bank or credit card. They are especially known for their simple interface and quick process. This is a big step for SYS (Syscoin’s Ticker Symbol) as Bittylicious represents our first gateway for enabling users to move directly from fiat to SYS. Check out Bittylicious (https://bittylicious.com) and grab some SYS today!

Next, we’ve followed Bitcoin’s lead and are now on Transifex for translating our wallet to different language locales through crowdsourcing. We ask that anyone who’s interested in helping, please visit our project site on transifex.com and click “Help Translate Syscoin” to join. (https://www.transifex.com/blockchain-foundry-inc/syscoin).

As mentioned in previous posts, the Syscoin 2.1 update will be a mandatory update. Standard procedure for a mandatory update involves contacting mining pools and exchanges to make sure they update, a process we’re very good at but it does involve a significant amount of time and effort to coordinate successfully. Because of this overhead when making major beneficial changes to the platform, we try to pack in as many features, fixes, and upgrades as possible.

After careful consideration, and noting the above, we decided to rebase Syscoin 2.1 from Bitcoin 0.12 to Bitcoin 0.13. This follows the ethos we announced when Syscoin 2.0 was first launched- Syscoin will be constantly merging in updates from the Bitcoin core as it progresses and improves; and this is us putting that statement into action. We noted that the Hierarchical Deterministic Key Generation feature included in 0.13 is definitely something our alias identity platform can leverage. This rebase contains 866 changed files with 12,441 additions and 2,977 deletions, so we are very cautious testing thoroughly through the code merge.

Furthermore, we’ve heard the community asking if we can escrow bitcoin transactions in addition to Syscoin transactions. We dwelled on the idea, and based on the potential we see with this feature, decided to also add this functionality to Syscoin 2.1. This means that we will support bitcoin-escrow in Syscoin 2.1. Even with the large number of code changes in this update, our release target is still Q4 2016 for both Syscoin 2.1 and Blockmarket M1.

We have further news on Blockmarket M1’s progress and MS Certification as well which we’ll share in a separate post from Blockchain Foundry. It’s something we’re very excited about as it will mean a fundamental change in how users experience the Syscoin wallet across different platforms. It aims at making the experience and access to the marketplace not only easier, but also consistent across a wide variety of platforms with room for extensions by the developer community as well!

TL:DR: We are rebasing Syscoin 2.1 from Bitcoin 0.12 to Bitcoin 0.13, keeping up with BTC core dev as promised when 2.0 launched. SYS 2.1 and Blockmarket M1 on track for Q4 2016. Separate post on BlockchainFoundry blog next week about Blockmarket progress.

finally some news and statemen about Syscoin 2.1 release. keep 'em coming.

Thats good! Cool
hold on your sys!

would be better if dev will update the roadmap to reflect the change in schedule of release.

http://syscoin.org/roadmap/

So, what's the problem then? They said it would be Q4 2016. It is now Q4 2016 and will be until 1 Jan 2017. The road map says October, it is now October. What's to update really?

375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] E-CurrencyCoin Thread [CryptoBank Development] on: October 07, 2016, 02:43:04 PM
a while back someone mentioned to me that having MIN_TX_FEE as an int64_t would be 0 since it is set to 0.1 right now and ints cant have decimal places.

i decided to go back and look at this and noticed that the fee is never actually 0. there are some lines of code within the create transaction itself that make the fee more than 0, however i will fix this min fee before the next update as well.

i dont want to redo a large section of the code, so i will probably be changing it to 1

Sounds fair, no point in wasting time on it if you don't have to.
376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BitBay Thread |Smart Contracts Wallet UPDATE|Decentralized Marketplace on: October 07, 2016, 02:20:33 PM
Where is the working example in crypto, where a peg has, and continues to, work as intended?

That's just it - there isn't a safe one that I know of!

BitBay's approach will be different obviously. It's not going to be pegged to anything, e.g., bitcoin, gold, USD, etc.
It's going to be completely independent; simply based on supply and demand.
This can make for a day trader's 'wet dream'.

I wish I knew more about it myself, but take for example all of the possibilities in regards to a Bay to BTC market pair.

If a trader see's signs of a big price drop coming to BTC, rather than sell out his BTC to USD, he could accumulate BitBay instead over the course of a few days. There would be more than one way to do this. He could potentially buy them  straight from the exchanges, straight off the BitBay marketplace (without a middleman), or even a potential 'futures' contract.
If the traders hunch is correct and BTC starts to drop over the course of a few days, then others will be scrambling to hedge their investment capital. This would create an increase in demand to Bay from traders trying to hedge their investment capital would naturally cause Bay to increase in value.

Now this trader has multiple options...
  • He could sell his bag, which would be 100% liquid at the time (except in regards to futures contracts).
  • Or he could hold, waiting for the right moment to sell potentially before the UVP protocol implements a liquid to frozen coin ratio adjustment. In this example, the increase in demand for BitBay would cause the ratio to increase liquidity of other people's wallets. So the traders best option might be to time this event and sell immediately before it happens to maximize profit on the market's demand. Then he could still earn even more profit by predicting the price support level after the coin get's flooded with new liquidity and buy up more Bay in hopes that the hedgers are not done yet with their exodus, etc, etc, etc.
  • Or he could simply wait until he see's the price of BTC to hit a support level and then sell his bay at a premium before the masses try to follow suit. This guessing game is going to be quite intriguing to say the least! Yet if you miss out on the swings of peaks and valleys you still have reassurance that this thing will (long term)continually increase in value - so the only losers are the impatient traders that sell at a loss rather than hold through another cycle.

All of this can be taking place with the trader having assurance that the peg will protect his capital from a potential 'back-stabbing' whale dump that currently seems to plague so many coins with their >insertcoin</BTC market pair relationship, because in BitBay, if the market gets hit with a large seller all at once, your coins would freeze proportionally to your existing quantity. This helps the price balance out without any major FOMO panic sells.

BitBay will give investors a tool to increase profit potential compared to the option of hedging back to the USD. Sure there is no leverage advantage, but that makes it even more attractive to conservative money. And who knows... with Double Deposit Escrow, I'm sure there is a way to create leverage. Wink

The more people see the system as a safe investment, the more they will want it, increasing demand and price in a healthy, organic trend. This will excite merchants and naturally create a positive, organic domino effect.

For those that can't stand the idea of a mandatory network adjustment to their wallets liquid to frozen coin ratio, they will still have options to trade - that's where the futures contracts come into play. Lips sealed

Again, I wish I knew more about all the goodies in store for the rolling peg (UVP - User Value Protection) protocol.
We will just have to wait a little bit longer before it's finally implemented.

Lets face facts shall we? There isn't a "safe" anything in this world and certainly not in crypto, fiat or even gold, all are subject to wild swings and losses under the right circumstances. I think David has the right idea and, being the first to use the technology he has described, a real advantage. The plan avoids centralization, which others don't, it lets the users and investors control the supply and value right? As I see it anyway, correct me if I'm wrong David.

This will be grand experiment on a global scale albeit initially confined to BAY investors, it should be interesting to watch it unfold...
