361  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is there a benefit in using ternary logic for distributed computing? on: March 25, 2015, 05:35:07 PM
What makes you think ternary logic will have an advantage over binary?

Math

Please explain further.

Your point about feeding the family is ridiculous as well. There are many places in the world where people are earning $2 per hour, please go and tell these people $100 they can get from a sig add every month is just an insignificant tip.

People who earn $2 per hour certainly aren't participating in this forum, let alone be involved in a sig campaign.

What would you bet on that? What about people who earn even less, does that count?
I'm willing to take that bet any time.

I won't bet on other people's misery. Sorry.

I think it would be nice if MultiBit HD allowed you to specify a single full node (out of the 8) as a hint. Specifically I'm thinking of circumstances where someone is running a full node on the same host or local LAN, and would like to make use of it.

Doesn't bitcoinj automatically connect to your full node if it's detected in localhost? I think I saw something like that in the source code.
366  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Looks like Mars One is a scam in the making! on: March 24, 2015, 06:51:31 PM
Well, I seriously doubt that technology and money will be available any time soon to get men safely to the planet Mars  Grin

Money comes from the printer.

But that causes inflation. I don't think it would be wise to affect the world economy so that a reality show can happen in other planet.

If there will be any actual research, then it should be done properly.
367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9% of Americans still "Puzzled" by Bitcoin Logo on: March 24, 2015, 03:13:52 PM
I've known bitcoin since 2012, and I don't know what the bitcoin logo is. I recognize it, but I didn't know it was bitcoin's official logo.

It's not “official”, but it's the most widely used one.
368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9% of Americans still "Puzzled" by Bitcoin Logo on: March 24, 2015, 02:18:09 PM
https://www.digitalcurrencycouncil.com/professional/how-does-the-bitcoin-logo-make-you-feel/

Basically one of those surveys, where you spit out the first thing the comes to mind.  9% said puzzled or confused as the words to associate with the yellow Bitcoin logo.

But what did the 91% say? It's not clear to me, even after reading the article.

• Jr. Legendary.
• Legendary
• Sr. Legendary
• Hero Legendary.

Somehow, having a “Jr. Legendary” sounds contradictory to me.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not.

The ledger wallet seems nice, but why should I carry yet another device in my pocket. My phone is not going to be replaced soon, and a 'usb stick like' device is surely te be lost at some point, more than my phone. RFC is more common on phones these days.

The price is very nice, so it might work out and convince me to try it at the least.

21 sounds like a big bubble. 21-flow Tongue

Ledger is a very nice and cheap option compared to Trezor, its not ment to be carried with around but to secure your coins and put it in the safe  Wink

Hm, not quite. Ledger Wallet's design allows you to carry it on your keychain, so I would say it is designed to have it with you at all times. What is meant to be inside a safe is the recovery seed, in case you forget your PIN.
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We have been entertained and educated on: March 23, 2015, 04:55:22 AM
The reason I don't like “If Bitcoin fails” threads is that they start with a pessimistic (and at this point, unlikely) point. The tendency is for technology to evolve, even if it's slowly.
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We have been entertained and educated on: March 23, 2015, 04:52:28 AM
Women love steroids? I think you got that wrong.

are you taking it literally, or are you saying they don't like the outcomes of steroids? b/c not all juicer guys look like arnold

The outcome of steroids is reduced genitalia. Do people really love that?

However, we're going off topic here.

375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Millionaire" is a fiat-based term on: March 23, 2015, 12:04:00 AM
Millionaire means nothing anymore. I have several million... pesos. Smiley

Which kind of pesos? Several million Mexican pesos is still a fucking lot of money.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We have been entertained and educated on: March 22, 2015, 11:57:21 PM
If the Internet fails, we can still say that we were entertained and educated, and then go on with our Internetless lives (which would be effectively impossible).
377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sick of the confirmation time... on: March 22, 2015, 11:54:49 PM
What should happen is if a block takes more than 15 minutes to find, the difficulty should temporarily plunge.

Also, how can that be implemented without a central time server?
378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sick of the confirmation time... on: March 22, 2015, 11:52:39 PM

Considering that the algorithm relies 100% on randomness, if you hate it then you shouldn't be using Bitcoin.

For what purpose though? Other than to just be random. This is one of the biggest flaws with BTC and will probably be the ultimate reason that an Alt ends up used by merchants instead.

What should happen is if a block takes more than 15 minutes to find, the difficulty should temporarily plunge.

For mining. The proof of work algorithm needs randomness so that nobody can just start creating blocks every second. Please show me an altcoin that doesn't use randomness at all.
379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sick of the confirmation time... on: March 22, 2015, 10:42:29 PM
the problem is not the slowness only, but the recently randomness(i hate that)

this is bad for merchants

For the third time, merchants can and do accept unconfirmed transactions just fine, unless you're selling a car or a house (in which case, the whole paperwork will take much more than the confirmations anyway).
380  Other / New forum software / Re: Question about accounts with invalid email addresses on: March 22, 2015, 03:15:07 AM
They don't have access to passwords, but what about the password hashes? Why not just transfer the hashes to the new system?

i dont agree with this method, i would go for email reset password to left those dummy accounts and the forum will be clean

But what about legitimate users who have a now invalid email? Why are you leaving them out?
