So many people who literally get just above 10 posts then enter in these kind of raffles, there should be some kind of weight if you have more posts  Tongue

That sucks, but it's good to hear that you'll be re-paying any balances.

3624  Other / Meta / Re: Forbidding useless posts when user has a paid signature on: June 26, 2013, 06:28:05 PM
As someone who has a paid signature (x3), I act pretty damn cautiously and I don't do anything stupid like spamming "+1". Because the people paying you can always just say "we're paying you for posts, not fuckin' spam".

In fact, why don't they?
Because all they want is being seen, they don't care about posts quality

I would care about post quality, who is going to follow the link in a spammer's signature?
The same people who click on ads in signatures
Post quality and the advertising website are no way correlated and people know this

Eh, that's true.
3625  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoins threads in newbie jail + Altcoins on bitcointalk on: June 26, 2013, 06:27:22 PM
Further registrations from that IP will require a small fee (~$0.50).

Interesting, how is this fee enforced?
3626  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoins threads in newbie jail + Altcoins on bitcointalk on: June 26, 2013, 04:51:53 PM

That seems fair. Maybe make the first (or first five) post(s) of Newbies have to be manually approved, then upgrade them to Jr. Member? It might put extra load on mods, but a quick glance at a post should tell whether it is spam or not.
3627  Other / Meta / Re: Ban useless replies on: June 26, 2013, 04:49:48 PM
+1  Wink

I agree that posts should be removed if they do not contain any meaningful addition to the conversation.

I do have a question: If somebody puts up a '+1' post, that would add the thread to their 'Show new replies to your posts' list. But if that post is later deleted by a mod, would that also remove the thread form their relies list? I have recently switched to using the watchlist so I guess that would not affect me, but some people might miss out on conversation they were interested in.

I believe the watchlist bases itself off of the most recent post ID in the thread.

I.E. if the watchlist knows you have looked at #202, then #203 comes up and is deleted, it will not pop up on the watchlist because the most recent reply that is active is #202.

3629  Other / Meta / Re: Gambling section on: June 26, 2013, 04:23:27 PM
Is it just me or is the gambling section a huge spam list of random casinos? I thought it would be about some kind of organised private gambling among members here, but it looks like most topics are about drawing people out to random casino sites.

>> Gambling forum section
>> Contains threads about casinos

That seems pretty normal to me. "Organised private gambling" can go into the Games & Rounds sub-sub-board.

Do people seriously read the forums for 4 hours or just leave the page open on another tab?

I believe you don't even need to leave it open anymore.

3635  Economy / Services / Re: Get up to 0.30 BTC a month for your signature! on: June 25, 2013, 08:50:30 PM
I like the ldea of payment on the ratio between total posts and activity?

Just an idea, that could work best.  I feel if I did attempt to reach higher payment levels, it could be considered spamming...

Yes this sounds reasonable. And it will cater to both sides (those who like performance and those who like post count). What could be an appropriate ratio though?

TBH I think the post count method is fine at the moment. Activity is very limiting (considering it caps your gains at 1 post/day for activity gain).
3636  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why restrict newbs? on: June 25, 2013, 08:46:47 PM
Just posting here so I can (eventually) take part in discussions somewhere relevant. However if newbie status remains I will take my comments elsewhere. Perhaps should start a thread on the reasons for restricting newbs? I find it a bit patronising and disrespectful tbh.
You have to post once and then wait 4 hours. That's it. It's designed so you read up on things and don't ask annoying questions or spam outside of the Newbie section.

If you have a better suggestion, post it here, and theymos will implement it! Smiley

Well, it just confirmed, so what do I know? lol

That's really strange, actually. They shouldn't have confirmed - oh well, lol  Wink I got quite a bit more to throw there, you gotta make a profit somehow.

Scratch that; someone threw in a .01 with a .005 fee. Damn. It seems to also be funds that were originally given to them...for endorsing BlockRun.

I know your problem is now solved, but for future reference, did you try to "bitcoin-qt -rescan" ?

I tried redownloading the whole chain, then tried a reindex and a rescan to no avail.

 Wink

Wow... How can my brain ignore the line just after the one I quoted? That's scary

Very scary indeed. I think you might have some problems with inattentiveness, jackjack  Wink
