snip..
only a few countries understand China's bad plan..  I can say that currently, China is trying to colonize several countries that have great potential (natural resources) for them to control.  China started the trick by becoming a savior (investor) in a country and slowly eating away at that country, many countries in Southeast Asia have become borrowers of funds from China, it's just a matter of waiting for a few time again for their actual plans to be launched..

I don't agree with your statement. China is not forcing anyone to take loans from them. The other countries go for the Chinese loans, because they have few other options. If superpowers such as the United States and France were ready to give low-interest loans to the developing nations, then there will be no market for loans from China. But that is not the case. Developing nations continue to take loans from China, because the other countries will not sanction loans for them.

But for the young generation 25 years old above which know about online gambling, they will choose online gambling than offline gambling because they can play anywhere they want. They don't want to risk their health and lives to just playing gambling, and they will take care of their health by playing from home. We can't stop them, but I am sure they will have awareness if the virus still out there and risk their lives.

Physical casinos are not very popular with the younger people. The older generation want to go out and interact with other people, while most of the younger people stay glued to their smartphones and laptops, and rarely interact with anyone other than machines. Now coming to cock fighting, it is something that can't be done online. This tradition is thousands of years old, and those who don't know about it should not be critical about it.

China is truly the world's factory. They have a large population and a cheap, skilled workforce. Items from China are found almost all over the world and prices are very competitive. We cannot easily change people's consumption habits. Countries need to have local businesses that have good products and compete with Chinese products.
The boycott of Chinese goods cannot be done quickly but requires a lot of effort from the people and the government.

Everyone tend to ignore the fact that the workforce in China is highly skilled, disciplined and more productive. It is not just the cost factor. If you want cheap labor, then you can get the same for even low rates in countries such as India, Indonesia and Pakistan. But the problem is that the workers there are not as disciplined and productive as the Chinese workers are.

What country are you in now for you to talk like that so many people here in our country are losing their job and their business and there's no bank here that will give us loans,, it's actually the opposite on what's happening in many countries.

You must be dreaming no banks will give you a loan and forget it, that bank is not existing, banks are profit driven company the moment they gave you a loan the interest will start to generate you can never default a loan on a bank.

If you have a decent enough collateral, then the banks will give you a loan. The interest rates may be high (and may go up even higher as inflation is expected to rise in the coming years). On the other hand, if you don't have a good collateral, and in case you are unemployed currently, then there is hardly any chance of getting a loan sanctioned by the bank officials.

Lasith Malinga pulled out from the IPL due to personal reasons  Undecided and Sri Lanka starting their own T-20 tournament league from 14th Nov.

The SLCB came up with a franchise cricket league sometime ago, and this was a disaster in financial terms. They need to understand that Sri Lanka is a small country, which doesn't have enough resources to independently run a franchise league on its own. This is one of the reasons why New Zealand never tried their luck with the T20 league. CPL is a success only because the West Indian players have huge fan following in the sub-continent. Expect another loss making venture this time.

Next tournament to watch is IPL where most of the matches will be thrillers.  Smiley

Don't get your hopes too high. There are multiple challenges. IPL involves 8 teams and that means a total contingent of 300-400 people. Already some of the CSK players have tested positive for COVID 19. There is a chance that more players may get infected during the course of the tournament. Things will get complicated if entire teams need to be quarantined. If that happens, then at least a few of the players may refuse to take part in the tournament any further.

I second this. And they need foreign investors to investment in their land but no one will invest where there is no security.

Security and politics are some of the reasons why investors normally avoid Africa. Investors pour their hard earned money in to risky projects, so that they may get a return after 10 or 20 years. But in the past, there were incidents of radical governments nationalizing these ventures without providing enough compensation to the foreign investors. As of now, China is perhaps the only country that is actively investing in Africa.
3628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: September 02, 2020, 06:53:27 PM
I think one reason for this discrepancy is that people aren't always honest in opinion polls. Generally it is right-wing candidates who benefit from this effect: there are likely far more people who will vote Trump but won't admit it, than there are people who will vote Biden but won't admit it. We see this time and time again across different countries. The more controversial (and right-wing) a candidate is, the greater the effect. I'd imagine betting companies are fully aware of this, whereas opinion polls simply reflect what people say they will do, rather than what they actually do.

Back in 2016, there were widespread incidents of vandalism and physical attacks against those who openly voiced their support for Trump. This in turn forced some of his supporters (especially those in the minority dominated inner city areas) to hide their political leaning. But the opinion polls now claim that their methodology takes in to account this under-counting.
3629  Economy / Economics / Re: Will African countries be developed? on: September 02, 2020, 10:50:32 AM
A lot of the people say that the population density in Africa is very low and therefore the continent can sustain a rapidly growing population. But I would differ. Around half of the total area is composed of desert (Sahara, Kalahari, Namib.etc) or other arid regions. And a large part of the remainder is consisted of equatorial rainforest which is uninhabitable. An increasing population would mean the destruction of natural vegetation, which can have disastrous impact on the rainfall and fertility of the soil.

First was washed out and second won by England third won by Pakistan I agree with you twenty/20 is all about luck and skill any team can do good on day and all this happen but one thing is sure never right off Pakistan as they can fight back on any day as they done even as Moeen start charging I was sure they can easily won but suddenly Wahab change things for them.

Oh.. sorry for the mistake. So many matches going on and I am getting confused. Apart from the England vs Pakistan series, another T20 tournament is ongoing in the West Indies (the CPL). It is getting difficult to follow all these matches.  Grin

That said, I am not sure whether Pakistan can take too many positives from this tour. They had a great opportunity to win the first test match, but they wasted it. Most of their team members are above the age of 30 and few of the younger players have performed well in this tour. Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah in particular were very disappointing.
3631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 02, 2020, 09:58:11 AM
Missed yesterdays match, I had no clues that Pakistan won the first T20 against England. This why this team is truly unpredictable. You do not know what will happen next when these guys play. I will be waiting for the next match and hope to see them repeat the same performance.

Nope. Pakistan lost the first match and the second one was washed away. They won the third and last match. T20 is such an unpredictable format, and even teams such as Netherlands have defeated England in this version. It is like 50% skill and 50% luck. If luck is not favoring you, then you can go down even against minnows such as Scotland and Netherlands.

@Vishnu.Reang. Agreed, however, I speculate that because of some Democrat politicians who support defunding the police causing chaos and because of their support of the riots, some democrats might change their vote. However, yes, I might be wrong, only a landslide victory for Trump would prove that I am correct hehehe.

In any case, odds on Trump are trending in his favor. What does this say?

Biden is still leading in almost all the swing states, as per the opinion polls. The ground reports also confirm this. The only thing that can make the difference now is the turnout. And this is where I believe that Trump has the advantage. Trump supporters are much more likely to get out to vote, when compared to Biden supporters. But I don't know whether this difference is enough to hand him a win in November. None of the opinion polls can accurately measure this factor.
3633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 02, 2020, 06:39:13 AM
Didn't expected Pakistan to win a T20 match against England, but they managed to do it somehow. Even after they made a total of 190, I was skeptical, because I knew the weakness of the Pakistan bowling attack. But the England batsmen (apart from Banton and Ali) failed to perform and they wasted a good opportunity to stay ahead with a series win.

Morgan gone, but now it's all over for Pakistan. Not a single bowler could trouble the England batsmen and this is a worrying sign for them ahead of next year's T20 World cup. And it is sad to witness the lopsided contest, after the Pakistan batsmen got such a good start. Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman added 72 runs in 8 overs, and still they are losing this match very badly.

Dream XI, a fantasy sports company has won the bid of sponsorship for IPL. But the amount they'd be spending is much less than what IPL was expecting. IPL was hoping for something around 300 crores while the largest bid from Dream XI was 250 crore. The long term sponsor of IPL, VIVO had to back away from their sponsorship due to anti Chinese sentiments on the government and public level. While Dream XI do still consist a minority stake of Tencent (about 20%).

The BCCI should be happy about this. During the sponsorship auctions last time, Vivo made a bid of ₹440 crore per year, followed by Oppo (₹286 crore). None of the other brands made a bid worth more than ₹200 crore at that time. Therefore I would say that the BCCI got a good deal this time. Now the question is whether Dream 11 will get the expected returns from this deal or not.

I have to warn that this is going to be a deeply divisive post.

Russia has started commercial production of the Sputnik V vaccine, which they claim to be the first vaccine against COVID 19. They claim that trials have shown close to 100% effectiveness. The news is very promising, but the big question is whether we can trust them or not. My personal opinion is that since there is no other option available, we should go with this vaccine.

^^ Oh boy many of us were expecting at least good-bye series but damn this pandemic, it ruined all the fun for fans. Its good decision tho and i hope we can see Thala in yellow jersey soon in the IPL.

He is 39 years old. A decade ago, 35-36 years was considered as the upper limit for most of the players. Times have changed and now players remain fit for extended periods. What might have prompted this sudden decision may be the postponement of the T20 World Cup to next year. MSD was probably targeting that tournament as his farewell series.
