3721  Other / New forum software / Re: Screenshots from epochtalk on: March 24, 2015, 05:20:35 AM
Hey, I have tried but I didn't succeed in the installation of the epochtalk orum. I don't still understand what is the problem (maybe some dependencies).
Thanks anyway, I will wait a reply from kcud_dab.

In Epochtalk Github repo, "build | failing" is mentioned. So it maybe because of the Epochtalk not wrong with your side?

I do not know but I'm still trying to understand how the OP has installed the new forum software (without any problem). Maybe I should send a PM but I don't want to disturb him (I will wait a reply here).
3722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Nasdaq to Provide Trading Technology for Bitcoin Marketplace on: March 23, 2015, 08:33:11 PM
Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. has agreed to provide New York-based startup Noble Markets with core technology to power a new marketplace aimed at allowing companies and institutional investors such as hedge funds to trade bitcoin and related digital-currency assets.
According to a joint statement provided to The Wall Street Journal, Noble’s platform will use Nasdaq’s X-stream trading system, a high-tech system for matching market participants’ orders that is used by more than 30 exchanges and marketplaces worldwide. Nasdaq will also provide marketing support.

3724  Other / Meta / Re: Remove VOD from the Default Trust List - clear case of neg for calling out abuse on: March 23, 2015, 08:08:18 PM
Just to be fair, you guys should also point out when people add me to their trust list.

My unbiased trust list (only DefaultTrust) has me up by 2 points since I left the negatives on the MSDN seller's accounts.

Overall, I do good for this forum, and people recognize that.    Smiley
I agree that you are a net benefit to the forum however there are probably a few instances where negative trust should never have been given in the first place, often times it then escalates to massive amounts of trolling when it would then no longer be appropriate to ever remove the negative trust, however the drama could have easily been avoided in the first place.

I do think that you getting removed from default trust might be good for you though as people would no longer have reasons to troll you and you have said before that you don't like that your RL identity is more or less public and people who you give negative trust to often post your name + baseless accusations that might make you look poorly to an outsider.

I'm a big boy - I can take it.  Smiley

Everyone that are fighting the scammers will be "threatened" by those scammers It is normal. Don't worry Vod! You will not be removed from the default trust list, you're a part of the good member in this community Wink.
3725  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: VOD's new lie. He's one fucked up asshole! on: March 23, 2015, 07:10:44 PM
I still don't understand why is necessary a new thread for every 'situation'. Can you resolve yours misunderstood privately, OP I suggest you to lock all the other thread an leave only one open (it is better for the community, because the spam is a really bad thing).
3726  Other / Meta / Re: Tomatocage - A Final Message To You (& For Everyone Misusing Trust System) on: March 23, 2015, 06:44:46 PM
I changed it to neutral because I reconsidered your situation and, after consideration of others' opinions on the matter, I thought it's more befitting than an outright negative rating. As I've said before, my ratings aren't set in stone unless there's an exceedingly clear case of fraud. Please feel free to leave a counter-rating for me, but avoid embellishment and make it as clear as possible.

I'm a nobody to do that. My counter-rating doesn't matter. It won't show up on your profile unless one goes deep into Untrusted Feedback, ever because only a select few have the rights to appear on the profile Roll Eyes

I appreciate your reconsideration, but if you could just understand what is going on in the marketplace, illegal accounts being sold, carded stuff being sold, and then you would have seen Vod run after only MSDN users, spamming the trust system, you would have removed him from the default trust long time ago.

I never tried to fancy anything I wrote, I wrote about negative to neutral trust because I want everything to be clear.

Didn't really follow all the other threads you made and it's to much to read right now. Just curious: How did you acquire all the keys listed in your thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=987244 ? Where are you getting Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro keys that you can resell them for $5? You're talking about carders, illegal accounts being sold but what makes you any different? I apologize in advance if you already answered that question, I just didn't see it.

Not taking sides. I know nothing about these keys of MSDN, just curious.

MSDN accounts are sold and bought in the forums for ~$100 / account (generated through fake information provided to Microsoft pretending to be start up businesses) and ~$30 /  invite (generated from the accounts)
These accounts come with tons of keys which can be used for testing and evaluation of Microsoft products.

My account wasn't even a bought account. I got it through my college enrollment, and I was using it to make some extra money

Is not against the forum rules but it is also not ethical, because I think you know that if microsoft will 'catch' you they will block all the key generated from that account and the whole 'situation' will bu turn in a complete scam because you will not be able to refund all your customers. Maybe you should find another "ethical" way to make some bucks.
3727  Other / Meta / Re: VOD - Abusing Trust System on: March 23, 2015, 06:20:37 PM
I think because it is not against the forum rules selling & buying forum accounts, or am I wrong? There are a few trusted users that are selling accounts here in the forum (for example Quickseller).

I have no problem with buying / selling accounts in general (you can use them to join signature campaigns), but selling accounts with positive ratings is very questionable IMO

I think you are missing the point, green trust doesn't mean you or someone else should not use an escrow. So also if a "scammer" will buy a positive trust forum account he cannot scam, because everyone know that "we" should use always an escrow.

You're missing the point chmod755 is trying to make. It's much easier to gain the trust of the person you're trying to con by using a green positive account then a account with no trust. A lot of the newer members around here trust accounts based on their positive feedback. Escrow should still be used but most of the time it isn't and that's when the scams happen.

Then in this case users should start to use always (yes always) an escrow, because no one know if someone is behind 2-3 or more forum accounts. This is the real problem of selling/buying account (and I think it will be never resolved). I don't use an escrow with the people that I know in the real life (this is normal, because I trust them). but almost always I have used an escrow service here in the forum for trade with the other person (that I don't know in real life).

PS: this is my personal choice, but I suggest always the use of an escrow for every deal.

What I call abusing the trust system is selling rated accounts like this person here.

I'm wondering why this post has not been reported and why there's no negative rating on this user.

3730  Other / Meta / Re: VOD - Abusing Trust System on: March 23, 2015, 05:30:22 PM
Vod may be a bit liberal with his down-ratings, but in your case I believe it's accurate. You tried to claim a negative rating for him, indicating a 21 BTC risked amount, which you later deleted. Then you claimed you would donate 19 BTC to charity, which is another lie (and probably multiple lies, since I suspect you don't even have 19 BTC to begin with).

How can we trust a liar? This is the real problem but I don't know if the negative trust is really necessary. It is a decision up to Vod and they should discuss privately. Why open a thread?
3731  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tourists killed in Tunisia museum attack on: March 23, 2015, 05:26:10 PM
"Tunisia's prime minister has dismissed six police commanders, including those in charge of tourist security and an intelligence brigade.
Monday's decision by Habib Essid follows the March 18 attack on the National Bardo Museum in Tunis, which killed 21 people, 20 of whom were foreign tourists. Mofdi Mssedi, the prime minister's office spokesman, said the six also included an intelligence brigade chief, the Tunis district police chief, the traffic police commander, a Bardo Museum security chief and a commander for the capital's Sidi Bachir district.
"Prime Minister Habib Essid visited the Bardo Museum yesterday [Sunday] and took note of several security failures there," Mssedi said.
Armed men killed foreign tourists, including Japanese, Polish, Italian and Spanish visitors, last Wednesday as they got off buses at the Bardo Museum, inside the parliament compound that is normally heavily guarded."

"Two Americans who were caught in the middle of the terror attack at the Bardo museum in Tunisia are speaking out. Giovanna and Hector Gonzalez were on a cruise when the last stop changed their lives. Jericka Duncan reports."

3732  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Selling Sr. Member account with green trust on: March 23, 2015, 04:17:52 PM
No offense but still want to say:

Everytime someone open a thread here to sell his account, you will see couple of people come after the OP to the thread and ask OP if he can sign a message for that ownership, but the truth is, these people don't even want to buy that account.

You can find this in every single account selling threads.

Yes you are right, I don't want to buy an account. Why should I buy it? I have only asked if he can sign a message for prove the ownership of the account? Is this against the forum rules? So no one can reply again and again "can you sign a message, please".
3733  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Selling Sr. Member account with green trust on: March 23, 2015, 04:02:14 PM
Selling a Sr. Member account, multiple green positive trust.

Will be using escrow.

Please respond or PM with offers.

Can you provide a signed message for prove the ownership of the account? A simple request, thanks for the attention.

Can you please elaborate on what this entails? Do you mean a signed message of a BTC address related to the account?

Yes of course, only in this way you can prove the ownershipt of the account and no one can come here and say "this is my account, someone hacked it". I hope you understand what I wanted to say (and sorry if I seem arrogant).

PS: EcuaMobi thanks for the help Wink.

3735  Other / Meta / Re: What did theymos do with 200K? on: March 23, 2015, 02:44:51 PM
I bet I could get sixteen guys to work on this for a year for that sum of money.  It is just crazy.

I want to see that. Cost for hiring experts are very high. You may think it don't cost that much but it will. Step into a work like this and you can see for yourself.

At the end one year is not too much, most probable the new forum software will be released on April or May (or at least I hope). The slickage team (by word of theymos) are really expert coders.
3736  Other / Meta / Re: Trust spam happens on: March 23, 2015, 02:42:56 PM
should admins disable leaving trust from newbies to avoid this kind of case?

It will not stop this problem, they will wait until all the account turn in jr. member and they start again to spam your trust page. It seems there is not a valid solution, and the troll/spammer will return always here in the forum.
3737  Economy / Services / Re: Need a signature design on: March 23, 2015, 02:37:30 PM
Looking for a designer who could make a signature for a sig campaign.
Please PM.

Can you add more info like: amount, end of the contest (if there is a contest) do you accept escrow, what ranks of signature do you want? Thanks for the attention.
3738  Economy / Reputation / Re: PSA: How to remove cancer from the trust list on: March 23, 2015, 02:15:52 PM
Trust system is not moderated, you can remove whatever users want but you "cannot obligate" the other users to do the same. It will be really no sense, however Vod is a really helpful user here in the community but sometimes he give negative trust when it is not necessary (a neutral one is better in certain cases).
3739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ok So I Just Sent £1000 of BTC to a Friend in Northern Namibia.. Now What? on: March 23, 2015, 08:54:48 AM
It's hardly anything unreasonable, getting angry? No it's just fucking irritating seeing people glance at the title or one post instead of looking at the whole conversation and then making up what the person has actually written throughout the whole thing and then picking a fight entirely based on that and making themselves look stupid.

If you think someone has made an insubstantial post, report it with the 'report to moderator' button.

On topic :
As some of you guessed I didn't really send £1000 worth of bitcoin to Namibia but what I wanted to do was discuss and highlight the difficulties of using the currency in places where it would be most beneficial.
I am married into a Namibian family. My wife likes to send funds to her parents in Namibia every couple of months. She has been doing this for the last 9 years.

Currently they use one of her bankcards and she has given them her PIN. She uses a UK bank account specifically for the purpose.
So, when she decides she wants to send money she transfers money from regular account to the account her parents have a card for and just does a regular bank transfer. This works fine however she probably shouldn't have given her card and PIN to someone else.

Most people are not in a position to do this.

Prior to doing it this way or if their are some issues with the account she would use Western Union.

I showed her how simple is is to send btc if you have Mycelium installed on your phone. But we were discussing what you would do with it.

At this point LocalBitcoins is proberbly out of the question, The nearest big town is a two hour drive away. Travel to Cape Town involves a flight.
PayPal.. I don't know. I had a bad experience with it related to bitcoin previously.

I guess bitcoin just isn't ready for these communities yet.

Can you explain better what is happened with paypal? A chargeback or they have blocked your paypal account? There is other new possibilities, like abra (but it is not open to all the world and it is 'needed' a bank account). The best option I can give you is to try search buyers on localbitcoins.

As we said bitcoin is not ready for all the world population, some people don't have the knowledge to use it. Other people don't have a bank account so they cannot easily convert bitcoin to fiat money (they have to use localbitcoins).

In your situation I suggest you to inform more about the bitcoin "ecosystem" in Namibia.
