well the prisma's did it and had some issues.  they did 4 not 3 heat sinks.

but a prisma pulled 1400 watts.

a triangle setup with 3 s-5 panels = 900 watts maybe 1100 if you push to freq 412.

two fans push pull with external controller I guess it could be done.
37262  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Best 1500w+ PSU on: June 26, 2015, 11:34:11 PM
It's good to have options.  I'm not trying to push the 2880W PSU on anyone, because it's not for everyone.  Those who need it, know it is the right one for their situation.  And it's not my design Phillip, it's J4bberwock's. I'm only a sales guy on this side of the pond, and like to make sure credit is given where it is due. He has done a stand-up job on this and many other developments.

Any server PSU is going to give you better value and reliability over ATX counterparts, as our requirements for mining are more akin to a server environment than PC's. If re-sale value of our equipment weighed into the equation, nobody would be buying miners; they are liabilities, not assets.

I corrected it in the post above you.

No, that was just the four sticks at 150MHz. Looks like the Pi reset itself sometime, because when I came in this morning my terminals were logged out but the hardware was up and running. Restarted cgminer and I've been working on figuring out problem sticks all morning.

The one that was drawing too much power, I swapped the chip and now it's working fine (starts at 150MHz at 615mV like it should, instead of 660). The other one that wasn't lighting up at all, well I swapped its chip and reseated a couple times and finally gave up and stole its parts to make a new stick. And then that one didn't work either. And then I realized the reset wasn't connected on the first board and I guaran-darn-tee it that was the problem. It's only about the third time I haven't noticed exactly that problem before. So now I have two sticks which almost work and hopefully they'll be functional within the hour. That'll actually give me 10 sticks since I have two prototypes still, which I can run at 200MHz and bust out 110GH off what, 45W with a fan? It's cool, I know you're jealous.

yeah I am jealous.  more of your abilities building them then running them.  But I am also a bit jealous of that.

....
Definitely a lot better than being at the constant mercy of the big Asic manufacturers, if you haven't already but you should make a thread about your findings.
I'm going to, but I've lost my job few days ago and right now I'm organizing my life to survive that 2-3 months of designing. Prototype realese will be painful Wink

Sorry to hear this.  I am pulling for you  job markets tough.

I hope you can build a piece of gear worth buying from you.

@ op is this 1129 number sure?
37266  Other / Archival / Re: June 14th to June 28th Diff adjustment thread. Picks are closed!! on: June 26, 2015, 11:15:27 PM
There always seems to be a bump in network hash power right toward the end of adjustment.  Coincidence, or by design I wonder?

fifth time in a row.  And solid each time. my guess is by design.
37267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 26, 2015, 07:21:36 PM
Lee from our hosting group got a price (Lee's hosting group)

get one price of 7000CNY(1129$), but we need wait until the middle of the august before we can get the miner....
so what are your guys thinking about this offer

Looks like I won't be buying one ! Tongue

That`s too much  Huh Cry

wow 1129 and wait a  month + 2 weeks.

lee has been a very good guy to host gear. but those prices are rough.
37268  Other / Archival / Re: June 14th to June 28th Diff adjustment thread. Picks are closed!! on: June 26, 2015, 07:19:19 PM
yeah onwards and upwards   we may clear 2% by the time this is over.
37269  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Nowadays what's the actual cost of mining 1 BTC ? on: June 26, 2015, 06:45:54 PM
well you can spot rent from nicehash or westhash.  and occasionally spend .97btc to  earn 1.0 btc

I have done this a few times.

takes patience to wait for cheap rental prices.
37270  Other / Archival / Re: June 14th to June 28th Diff adjustment thread. Picks are closed!! on: June 26, 2015, 06:17:14 PM
It is so close, but I'm watching my chances slip away with this hash rate increase.

yeah we have drifted up a bit more.

What's the best 1500w+ PSU? I currently have a EVGA 1300W G2 and it's been great - been pushing 1400W without any problems. However, I need a bit more power and preferably more efficiency. Should I just jump to the EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 P2/T2 or is there anything else better out there? Also, I read that the P2 comes with 14 PCI-e cables, can anyone confirm? The 1300G2 was only 8.

Gigampz sells a breakout for the DPS-2000bb a 2000 Watt supply.  If you are looking for the best deal out there as far as wattage and efficiency goes though check out the 1200 Watt 80 Plus Platinum kit.  At $113 it is hands down the cheapest and most efficient unbelievable quality for the price PSU out there.

http://www.gigampz.com/store/p21/Gigampz_80Plus_Platinum_Efficiency%2C_1200_Watt_Kit.html

Actually, I can beat the price on that 1200w setup.

1100w platinum supply, breakout board, and 4 24" 16G PCIe cables for $92.

well I know :
 sidehack
 finsky sells USA/Canada for J4bberwock
 pete m
and you all have pretty good server psu's

he should not get the big highend plat atx psu's unless he plans to  repurpose them later in a monster gaming rig.
37272  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: June 26, 2015, 06:08:52 PM
may be his hub.  he had 8 sticks pulling 4 watts each.  I know he has a rebuilt custom hub it may have given up the ghost.

Anyone that  ran a ton of sticks knows hubs can stress out when you get to the top end of the hub.
37273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S5 Power Supply Query on: June 26, 2015, 06:06:24 PM
I have just received my S5. I have two PSUs from my old 50GH/s BFL units which output 13V at 31A. Can these be used safely with the S5?

maybe they will work for you. (they should be okay)  your connection is correct as pictured. do  not cross two bricks together!!!!   you have one brick on each board.

if you feel they do not work well.  I have more then a few psu's sitting idle.  I am in NJ zip 07731.
37274  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 69 blocks solved! on: June 26, 2015, 03:06:51 PM
The point is that merged mining pools shall not reject shares on aux chain changes....those shares are still valid for BTC chain  Wink even frequent job restarts shal have zero impact on rejects in that case Grin it turns out that they can even reject BTC block solver in that case  Grin Grin nice...
The real problem is not "shit coin" mining itself but shitty pool implementation... Grin
At the end of the story they can even skip stratum jobs restarts (and hive higher stall aux block rate as side effect) on aux chain changes just to guard against shitty ASIC MCU (PIC) firmware written by same idiots Grin
But who cares ...when I see topics like who speaks Chinese I need to mine in China pool I just feel petty for these guys .............
And assuming all participants have higher pool reject rate (Let us say 10%) in mm pool you lose nothing at the end except possible 25 btc rejected due to above reasons...In other words at 10% rejects one of 10 VALID BTC BLOCKS is rejected by the pool...Will MM coins value compensate for it ...NO!!!!! Cheesy
Once again avoid using Chinese  pools at any cost not only because of the above but if you wanna help the BTC to stay alive in general!

to me f2pool is okay as it is the gold standard of pps no other pools in China run pps.

BUT AS YOU CAN SEE  From my screen shot f2pool does have flaws.

 I now use:

1)ck's  solo pool
2)mmpool
3)f2 pool

I don't use ppns pools or p2p pools  but I do run a node to help support the network.

If my power rates in NJ summer = 18 cents were better I would mine differently.

yeah since he wants 1600watts and it seems like he has 120 volts 2 of yours would give him about 2000 watts.

if he pulls 800 watts on each one they are fairly quiet.  As an owner of your  gear and the platinum evga supernova 1600 .  I would tell him to get two of yours.

@ op  my review of the evga and pete's server psu

37276  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 26, 2015, 02:54:15 PM
Why would Sfards sell one of these machines for less than it could make mining ?

A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

If you read the post they say they did burn in. >>>> say it is true.

They are selling sets of 100 at a time >>>>>>>>>> say it is true.

So if they made 1000 or less and mined them for 2 weeks which would mean a big place to mine them.

a 1 mega watt farm  1000 x 1000 = 1 mega watt.

We all know coins go up and down in price.   So  the risk of running a 1000 unit farm is high since based on diff of btc and ltc it does not look like they have been doing it for months.

My guess is they made about 500-1000 pieces and they can run 100 or 200 at a time in house.

So if they sell off a few sets of 100 they are close to break even.

I will be nice and say it does as advertised.

So lets say the built the first batch of 1000 for 1 million. which due to having the  chips made is a big underestimate.
They may have enough chips left to build 1000 more or sell some chips.
They are looking to get back the 1 or 2 million (low estimate) they laid out to build this .

Once they sell 4 or 5 sets of 100 they will be at less risk.
37277  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If electricity was free, which machine would you recommend? on: June 26, 2015, 11:07:47 AM
Have you decided to buy some machines?

If so let us know.

Naw, I was in a bit of a hurry to finish up and still get to the post office on time (unfortunately I arrived seconds after closing time) and I think the config defaulted to the BEUSB address on BTCDig that TheRealSteve set up for the erupter contest. I haven't bothered to make an account there but it's handy for testing since the vardiff starts at 2 instead of 128.

If the shop VPN hadn't gotten hosed in a storm-related router crash last week (and I haven't fixed that part of the config yet, whoops) I could log in and change it. But I didn't. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow I'll figure out the issues with the other sticks, hook the hub up to a beefier 5V supply and run all 8 together over the weekend at the 1BURGER address. That'd be 66GH. It's fun to think I could push these to 11GH off about 3.6W, when an AM Blade was top of the line gear just two years ago and took 24 times that power to do slightly less work.

Think I should push them at all? If I can keep 'em cool at 225MHz (what, about 4.5W each?) that's right at 100GH which was a loaded Blade backplane, and even counting the power taken by the fan and the Pi this would still come in at half the draw of a single Blade. Hooray technology!

my 1 stick at 225Mhz with fans is a bit warm.  but I have been running it steady at 218.75 with the fan in an 80- 90 f garage.

I would think running them at freq 218.75  will give you about 94-96gh and if you use fans they will not over heat.

Too bad it's one of the few pools that'll even go that low, at least reliably Smiley

That pool has a semi-public output of hash rates, but no fancy public graphs, but this graph off the account page should all be GekkoScience testing anyway:

thanks for info and charts.
37280  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series on: June 26, 2015, 10:42:22 AM
Hi,
I wanna buy this for my s5's.
Is this compatible with s5? connectors and efficiency? I have 10 s5. 5 psu is enough for them ?
and it really auto turn on ?

they should work if you have 205 volt or more power in your home.

where do you live?  If in USA most homes do not have 205 volt power they have 120 volt.
