6370+. I was thinking: When it was 1k or so a year ago I couldn't have imagined it would go up by a factor of five.

Now I wonder if it will go up by another factor of 5 to 30k. Not unbelievable.

C

If it does my life will change more than I could ever imagine.

Ditto...as I said to a friend on here two months ago....we'd better go back to thinking of BTC as fairydust/unicorn/tulip/imaginary rainbow money ..or we are gonna lose
our minds ..it has worked for awhile as a 'mental' excercise ...er now at these prices not so much....

wait...doing that means my mind is already gone...on the other hand...thinking of this as REAL money is also unbelievable

er....dumbstruck .....

denial of the inevitable is getting hard...but acceptance of the inevetable is also somewhat impossible...so I guess I'll just continue to stand about 'slackjawed' in awe...

Toot!

(BTC too tired for more than Toot!, too busy breaking ATH every other day)

3764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: October 31, 2017, 08:51:34 AM
Well things dumped below $10 real fast!

https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/dash?HashingPower=17.5&HashingUnit=GH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=950&CostPerkWh=0.12

At this point in time, at 17.5gh at 950 watts and 12c kWh.....it is (wait for it!)

$8.28 a day!

FML. (how many more batches do we have in the wind? Assuming the majority of the Nov 1-15th batch has hit the world?)

Three more batches in the wind since that? Also I read that the A5 Dominators at 30gh plus have not shipped yet (late)

The only coin I've heard any hype about for X11 is the Helium coin...supposedly.....we need hope Obi Wan!

Ah hell, its only money right?

3765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: October 31, 2017, 04:53:14 AM
I just got an email saying that my PSU's have been swapped for APW5 as they've run out of materials.

Can you run two L3+ off one 2600W psu ?

I'm in AUS so 230V

Should do it easy right?

I presume for something like S9 + D3 would be pushing it tho...?

others on here can probably say...what I say sure...

on the other hand at what $115 usd plus shipping I just run ONE bitmain PSU for any L3+ or D3 you can get

figure what the heck I'd rather have that kinda load on them then too much

and if a PSU goes it does not take 2 miners with it Smiley

So if you only run ONE bitmain PSU vs ONE bitmain asic product ..that should work just dandy

anyway, my dubious way to look at this

by the way....you can thank me for the 1 BTC I think it was i SPENT on fixing broke knc Titan board last Dec

sheesh at $450 or so then.....

(they grow up so fast)
3767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) on: October 30, 2017, 10:00:40 AM
Do you have to claim BTG by a date like Bitcore?

or

Is it like Bitcoin Cash ....it simply is in snapshot mode to convert if/when you wish to?

thanks

It's a snapshot. No claiming, no centralized airdropping, just a clean copy of the UTXO set.

The upside of that is that it's convenient and easy for bitcoiners to take advantage of the airdrop. The downside is that this has to equate to a lot of selling pressure. I think a lot of people just planned to immediately dump the BTG. Given that, I'm surprised its price has been holding around 0.025-0.03 BTC for the last couple days.

People are surprisingly bullish on these forks. Personally, I plan to sell within the first couple days of the network launch. I prefer lower market cap coins; such a huge market cap out the gate means you can't participate in all the growth....

As an aside to the dumping deal above. I'm in USA where the IRS hates the idea of money dropping out of the sky w/o being taxed. Thus the Bitcoin Cash and/or Seqwit2x and/or Bitcoin Gold Forks....being worth cashing out...I was informed that LIKELY ( by my CPA)  the IRS would consider this a STOCK SPLIT kinda thing..you just leave it be and you are fine...if you spend it..it will be a TAXABLE event..thus the good old income tax. (In my case this year 47% with state/local/soc sec etc as a small biz mining crypto...this years rate)

Thus I'm just letting it ride for 1 year and a day...at that point I can cash it out like BTC or other crypto and only pay 20% capital gains tax ..more or less.

Anyway, how I'm gonna play it....again....the IRS does not like free money falling out of the sky..you blow it ..you likely will pay taxes on it...also remember the IRS can go
7 years in the past for checking your taxes out.....I'm sure they will have the crypto tools by than to do so and the incentive especially if we got to the vaulted 20k per BTC....
they will have all the incentive in the world to play data mining on such stuff imho .... 7 years down the road from now....

3768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Caused the Boom in Bitcoin on: October 30, 2017, 07:33:19 AM
Well..perhaps the boom in bitcion is due to the below 'trickery' ....

More than one way to get over the 21 Million coin limit....

as an example of my confusion see below...(prev posted also on btc speculation thread)

I found SegWit2 on this price link below

https://www.worldcoinindex.com/coin/segwit2x

Is this just some action before the fork coming up this middle of November...ie speculation..tokens...whatever?

be damn wierd if that price of $1,006.67 held add that to (at this time) $6152.89 (btc core) and $441.83 (bitcoin cash) and $141.71 (btc gold)

Damn, that is $7743.10 BTC! (of many flavors).....this can't hold?

Sure makes things dang interesting.

I suppose there is more than one way to get over this 21 million coin limit...fork BTC Core.

Anyway....what I stumbled over.

... this looks increasingly like pie in the sky ....imho....could be interesting like a heart attack is interesting if it all was to consolidate in 1 fork (price wise) and leave
the others to die on the vine

I'm clueless what is going on..I post this as a head scratching example of WTF

are we rich yet??  Huh

Actually...getting closer, i dont mind holding another 4 years to become a Bitcoin millionair.

It's unbelievable, i cant wait untill the day arrives when i say to my boss I STOP!

too rich....

I swear the only reason I hold on to all my crypto and  HODL is because I'm boring and f*ck...no gold digger girlfriend to impress....no travel plans....just ho hum

also at this point it is getting harder to think of this as 'unicorn/internet/tulip/fairydust/money' at these prices...damn this was a lot easier in 2013

one day I'm gonna snap like a dry twig and sell it all and run amuck

but alas...so boring.........can't quite grasp the concept......sheesh

Wells Fargo just started a really top drawer marketing campaign on our behalf.

https://imgur.com/FwxvyQu

They must have funded the marketing campaign with the 2 cents that I left to them when I abandoned my account in 1997. Grin

Is that the account that you opened, or the account they opened for you?

BURN!
3774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: October 29, 2017, 07:27:10 AM
OK, my ANTMINER D3 batch 01-15 Nov was shipped yesterday but the power supply APW3++ Nov batch ordered together with D3 wasn't ... damn  Angry

you are late. both my NOV batch are here and already online mining...
but you're earlier than most people.

I was upset about my Nov 1-15th D3 unit not being shipped yet. (dubious equip choice indeed).

Then I remembered the circumstances....I got on ..watching that auction ...the site was dorked and could not get in ...so talking to a buddy from bitcoin talk on the
phone for 1 hr...and he was bored kept refreshing a page he had a D3 on he did not want.....

due to his OCD or whatever after more than 1 hour after the auction..one pop'd up in the cart and he asked if I wanted it (dubous choice in 20/20 hindsight)

Thus I"m bitching that mine has NOT shipped yet...when I am fairly certain due to the above senario and I got the LAST D3 in that batch STANDING

I should probably not bitch because a DAMN good chance mine was the last unit managed to get squeezed out on this Nov 1-15th batch due to site LAG

but golly everyone else wanted one soooooo badly Sad

beware unicorns falling from the sky from dubious asic manufacturers and dubious equip and the fickle finger of chance I guess.....

Anyway, when I get a tracking number I'll let you know..in again ...pretty sure I'm last in line on this batch...it was a long conversation and he was bored....
thus the circumstances..

edit: this was the 2nd unit I am getting for a D3. The first unit for $2700.00 well that one is getting below

https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/dash?HashingPower=17.5&HashingUnit=GH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=950&CostPerkWh=0.12

I can't get 17.5gh out of it. But assuming you could at 950 watts and 12c kwh that comes to at this time/date

$11.45 per day from above

I suppose hoarding Quark is an option. Same result but I’d have lots of coin. FML

Quark mined on X11 miner? Huh?

oops 😬 misspoke.

Replace Quark with “obscure X11 coin I hope will pump to dash prices”

(p.s. I also want a rideable purple unicorn pony)

still waiting on butterfly lab$ to ship!

I hope their former management are doomed to live a life of mediocrity, until they die from wasting away due to some horrifying malignant disease.

Sorry. BFL Corp took the fall with SEC. I think one person had a 30k fine for mining issues
on site. From what I understand they otherwise kept all the ill gotten BTC.

They are reading this post and ROFLAO at our puny curses 3years later

Every once in a while I think back to the shady exchange that absconded with my Litecoins. Still irks me. I can imagine how some of these scoundrels still get your goat. 3 years may be an eternity in crypto, but it all feels like yesterday to me.

Off topic...but that is a lot of coin they walked away with in 2014....they got away with almost all of it...BFL labs that is..the owners and principles involved...

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2016/02/bitcoin-startup-butterfly-labs-settles-with-ftc-for-38-6m-but-it-cant-pay/?comments=1&post=30676079

main player got a 15k fine...sheesh....again, I'm sure they are on this thread.....currently laughing their ass off ..especially if they  held the coin...worth mega millions now

I got banned from their chat room in August 2014 ...for bringing up all the things the SEC finally proved.....alas the SEC was only interested in settling with the BFL corp

and getting all that nice $$ from bankrupting it and fines to the US Gov't

anyway, crime pays  in crypto it seems

Don't use UPS when you order from bitmain, my 6 L3+ have disappeared/been stolen by UPS in Oslo, Norway . I got my PSU.

You have options or are you sh*t out of luck?
