NxtMyths 4: Source Code
http://nxtcoin.blogspot.cz/2014/01/nxtmyths-4-source-code.html

This chapter is little special, it consists only from the quotes made by experts

salsacz you are head of marketing right? if so tell me your email. i want to forward something to you.
3783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Trading Thread for Nxt :: Descendant of Bitcoin on: January 24, 2014, 07:33:39 PM
Still want to buy 50-100k NXT.

Nearly only scammers offered me something :/

so many buyers and no one wants to sell. i found this same problem when i ran my orderbook. i only ever found one seller the whole time.

This is true. Anyone selling NXT?

bter. Fees are minimal.

yea but thats the point. no one is selling small amounts in this thread anymore. i think i may buy a big bulk purchase just so that i can resell it to people in this thread for a small profit and to help the nxt community by lowering barriers to entry.
What's the point of selling small chunks here when bter fees are minimal and I could receive my btc withdrawal in 5 minutes??
I would still continue selling here, but only big chunks (>100K), interested buyers can pm me and ask.
But they should send btc first, we can do it publicly in 2 or 3 batches if it is a high volume purchase (>500K) and the buyer feels a bit unsafe, but no way to do it in more than 3 batches or through call or skype.. that is too sticky.
For smaller chunks I prefer to sell in bter and any future coming good exchange as well (excluding that opportunist dgex shit).

so you really dont think i would be adding any value at all to the community if i did a bulk purchase and than used that nxt to avail myself for small trades?

we could also intentionally create the community where there was a strong current. that way we could simply drop a tethered Marine Current Turbine from the bottom of our vessel and get a lot of power that way.

I don't think I've ever seen something so perfect.  The only characters I don't quite understand are Parts & Labor, however; can someone elaborate what they represent?

It represents the labor unions. Plumbing and electrician licensing requirements for example.

Therefore, this coin is basically useless to someone like me...

I bet u r talking about people with "miner" mentality.

Well it is true, I have miner mentality. But I haven't seen anyone make a compelling argument as to why I should try and be in this community. I'm listening for someone to convince me this is the way to go.

I wrote an essay that isn't specifically about why you should be involved with the nxt community but i suspect some of that may carry over. feel free to check it out https://docs.google.com/document/d/1E_ToOMG2l1XThx6YnyXEajXaf6H1k2yjq8XkAF0ScB4

I dont think any single approach would be right. You would probably want to use solar where you could but most of your power would have to come from a wind turbine. there is a ton of wind power at sea. i really dont think power would be a big issue as windy as it is out there. you would probably want to use these kind to keep your boat from capsizing. http://hacknmod.com/hack/next-gen-wind-energy-you-have-never-seen/

you dont see sailboats using wind power now because it would create too much drag while traveling. but if your boat spent a lot of time anchored at sea than it would become practical.

if worst came to worse you could always throw a pinch of the byproduct back into the output.
But like all aspects of seasteading, it would be very expensive.

indeed. hopefully removing the burdens of taxation, inflation, and regulation would more than counteract that additional expense but this is something that will only be able to be discovered through testing.

Here is one concrete solution for getting fresh water:

http://youtu.be/hMODuTBFpPo

Wow, you can boil water and then re-condense it? That's the invention of the century  Grin

Too bad you can't actually drink distilled water, you have to re-salinate it first...

I'm still sticking with land-steading  Wink

So those kids on the video are dead then?

Yes, they were sacrificed to make a promotional video for GE  Smiley

But seriously, drinking a bit of distilled water is fine. Drinking only distilled water will eventually kill you. First you will urinate all your salts, then your blood pressure will drop, and eventually your extracellular solution will become hypotonic and your cells will literally start to explode (but you'll probably die of heart failure long before that happens).

One caveat - I have no idea how this machine works, except for the obvious fact that the "novel" technology it's based on is centuries old.
Maybe it actually does re-salinate the water a bit before dispensing it...

if worst came to worse you could always throw a pinch of the byproduct back into the output.

Sea-steading will never be for everyone.

heck the byproduct would probably even be marketable.
3793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NXT] Thread Wherein Large Stakeholders Foster Confidence by Outlining a Plan on: January 24, 2014, 03:39:18 AM
I thinks its a dead topic.  Stakeholders have already greatly distributed their share, many of the large Nxt holders were early buyers from stakeholders.  I don't think a stakeholder will post here cause most people will just berate them with ridicule.   Distribution will continue to happen, many are waiting for decentralized exchange.

perhaps you are right. i made this thread because cfb argued against lowering transaction fees by saying the stake was not distributed enough yet.

Better make new self moderated.
Btw, how would we identify stake holders?

any idea how. I tried and it wouldn't let me delete or move this one.

You have been a member since 2010 and you still do not know how to create a self-moderated thread  Roll Eyes

i know how to create it. what i dont know is how to make an existing and presently not self moderated thread self moderated.

This analysis ignores opportunity cost. When opportunity costs are taken into consideration, owning 1million coins is no more beneficial than owing 1 coin. Except for the sense in which being wealthy is, in general, better than the alternative.

I forgot to make it self moderated. please just ignore off topic comments.
