381  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-25] Kenyans Pay Local Restaurant Bitcoin for Meals and Classes on Crypt on: October 28, 2018, 12:44:41 PM
Criminals in every country have their privacy coin of choice, most prefer to use monero but perhaps in Kenya they use DASH. Without knowing the local economy it is hard to say which coin they should list, but it is good to have variety
382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Energy Consumption! on: October 27, 2018, 12:05:14 PM
There are many farms in production that will use clean energy for mining. Solar power and wind powered farms are going to be the new norm. The setup will cost more but in the long term they will earn more profits
383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cyber attacks are good for Bitcoin on: October 27, 2018, 12:01:41 PM
Bitcoin isn't immune to cyber attacks either, mt gox is a prime example along with the many other exchanges that have been hacked. It's only good for those that know how to secure it in cold storage wallets
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's with all the comparison between blockchain and banks? on: October 27, 2018, 11:59:31 AM
It's a generation thing where the older generation needs to use a banking system, it's the only thing they have used in their lives. The new generation is looking at alternatives, and that is bitcoin and the blockchain industry
385  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Circle and Coinbase are partnering to improve the stablecoin concept on: October 27, 2018, 11:57:32 AM
Crypto is in need of an honest and reliable stable coin, we can't rely on tether anymore with all their price manipulations. GeminiUSD is unproven and not too sure about the others like TUSD. Lets see what coinbase and circle can produce
386  Economy / Economics / Re: The economic function of Bitcoin on: October 27, 2018, 11:53:55 AM
The beauty of bicoin is that there is no central bank and no central authority. This is probably why satoshi walked away because he doesn't to take control of what is intended to be a decentralised economy
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is China giving importance to Blockchain? on: October 26, 2018, 11:02:08 PM
Japan has already adopted bitcoin and crypto, if China does not do the same they will fall behind their number one competitor. Something they do not want to do after building up their economy to the powerhouse it is today.
388  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your aim here on: October 21, 2018, 02:32:49 PM
If you take a look at who actually created this forum you will see the reason for it's purpose Wink Discussing all things bitcoin was the initial purpose but as crypto expanded so did the forum. Now it's pretty much all things crypto related that can be discussed here
389  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Slow and steady wins the race on: October 21, 2018, 02:30:03 PM
Higher ranks means that they were here before the meriting system made it more difficult to rank up. It will take a long time to move up from junior or regular member but crypto is here for the long run so there is plenty of time
390  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Malware posted on BitcoinTalk on: October 21, 2018, 02:26:46 PM
To use malware the scammer must be very smart with computing so it is likely that he will be using a VPN to mask his real IP. Also, as a pro scammer he will probably launder those bitcoins via various DEXs into privacy coins. However, the BCT admins might still be able to help if you open a scam accusation thread
391  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Exchange Security Ratings and Ranking on: October 21, 2018, 02:22:33 PM
There are a lot of exchanges that i have never heard of getting the top ratings. Strangely binance didn't get anywhere near the top even though it is the most exchange in the world.
392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can you invest in bitcoin without being scammed? on: October 20, 2018, 06:58:15 PM
For newbies it would be better to use a trusted easy to use exchange. Most people get into crypto by using coinbase, the fees are high but the simplicity and security makes it a worthwhile exchange, you can then diversify after that to altcoin exchanges for bigger trading
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much damaged bitcoin has brought you? on: October 19, 2018, 10:48:39 PM
30% is a lot to lose but think about the long term hodlers that invested late last year, we're talking about 90% losses which dwarfs that 30% loss. It is reasonably safe to say that bitcoin has bottomed out and therefore we can look forwards to better price movements in future
394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Whales; Myth or not on: October 14, 2018, 09:15:24 AM
Some whales obtained their coins illegally so they would want to dump at the earliest opportunity and launder what they have. The longer they have it in their wallets the more chance there is of the law enforcement agencies tracking them down
395  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin and global warming on: October 14, 2018, 09:13:11 AM
This is not going to be a problem in the future as miners move to cheaper forms of energy which is likely to be renewable. Something like solar power or biogas which is better for the environment. Switching to colder climates will reduce airconditioning requirements
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: india's new cryptocurrency on: October 14, 2018, 09:07:30 AM
Eventually all coins will launch their own cryptocurrency. If venezuela succeeds in turning around their economy with the petro you can guarantee that everyone else will follow, especially those with struggling economies
397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Coins/tokens list which got x3-x5+ for the last few months on: October 14, 2018, 09:04:40 AM
WAGERR has gone up in the last few months with decentralised anonymous spots betting now available from their wallet. The other riser is TRON which has gone up as well, both are still going up so good time to buy
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should I buy TRON or ETH? on: October 14, 2018, 09:00:34 AM
Tron has a lot more hype and is developing at a much faster rate than ethereum. After taking over bittorrent we can expect bigger things from TRON. Ethereum has gone past it's sell by date, it will only rise moderately from now on
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it true that 99% of all airdrops are shitcoins of bad projects ? on: October 12, 2018, 08:44:59 PM
You have to sift through a hell of a lot of shitcoin airdrops before you find one that is worth anything. in my opinion it would be better if you simply researched a good bounty and then supported it for their coins. At least you will have something at the end of it
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: will humanity stop using cash on: October 11, 2018, 07:52:35 PM
In the future there may be a cure for blindness or an easy way for them to get connected. There is voice recognition that is improving all the time or a digital assistant that can help with payment matters. Might even be easier for them to pay with digital help than travel to the shops to buy stuff they can get online via crypto
