381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This market is unhealthy! on: June 12, 2018, 03:14:50 PM
Yes, you are right.
But at the same time, it is more complicated than that.

The vast majority of investors that made the market swell in dec 2017 (which caused it to crash) were inexperienced traders.
The market was pushed past it's limit and subsequentlly popped.

I wonder how many of those have left crypto?

However, the overall sentiment of institutional investors is that they do want to get in, but are waiting for the right moment.
This includes prices, but also regulations and wider adoption of security coins and tokens.

I can see the market becoming much more healthy as regulations and "pros" step in.
Until then, it is still an unhealthy, volatile place.
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bear market end or not? on: June 12, 2018, 03:00:29 PM
I was one of those that thought a full on bull run would be coming mid May, and here we are in June with no end in sight to the bearish market.

I've gone back and tried to analyze and make sense of the market, and the best explanation I can give is that this all a result of runaway growth and irresponsible investing back in dec 2017 and jan 2018.
when you track how fast and how high almost all cryptos went, it makes this crash and continued bearish sentiment more understandable.
On top of that, there were so many coins that shot even past the moon that had no right to be.
Coins like verge and tron that are plagued with technical difficulties and not even having a real world use case or working product.

Going forward, I can see the market moving towards more substantial and reliable coins.
I know I am.

And as regulations start to set in and securities becoming more viable, I don't see institutional money going towards speculative coins, but rather towards established companies.
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin under 1$ to invest in now? on: June 12, 2018, 12:30:44 AM
A big rookie mistake is to only look at the price of an altcoin without considering it's market cap, total circulating supply, and trade volume.

I understand the thought process though.
If you jump in to a coin that is less than a dollar, you can buy a lot of it.  And when that coin takes off, you will get more money.

it's just not that simple though.
First, almost all coins can be divided into .00000001 decimals.
What that means is, values are divided up into more useable chunks depending on how people perceive is the easiest to trade.
So face value of crypto can be really misleading.

Also, if a coin is $1, but there is 10,000,000,000 coins, than the chances of the coin rising a lot in value is a lot less.
To get a good idea on undervalued coins, look at the price, total circulating supply, market cap, and then compare it to one of the top 50 coins with similar metrics and you will get a better idea on how far it can go.
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC up to $2 on: June 12, 2018, 12:24:58 AM
As we speak, it peaked a high of 1.86 on btc-e.com
Made the thread for this particular special ocasion: Litecoin to hit $2.
I am that confident  Cool

Edit: We're there! 2.1 on btc-e as we speak. Congrats!

Discuss away  Grin

Holy cow haha.  I love these old threads.
What a huge difference a couple years make.
Can you imagine if this guy was saying "LTC will be $107!" back in 2013?
People would have sent him to the loony bin.

But here we are in 2018 with LTCs current price at $107.
and that isn't even ltc's all time high.

This shows the vast potential of crypto.
But, then again, not just any coins.
The ones that are backed by good devs and a community, the ones that have real world use or better advantages over other coins.
These are the ones that will truly give you huge profits int he years to come.
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looking to sell 50$ worth of BTC on: June 12, 2018, 12:20:55 AM
Ugh, can you stop with this nonsense?

This isn't the right thread to do this, there is a marketplace.
On top of that, you two both reek of trying to scam each other.
Take a good look at how their conversation progresses, yeah, red flags everywhere.
A "seller" with negative trust trying to sell $50 worth of btc?
A "buyer" jumping straight on it without knowing how much btc that is?

I think that, in a way, if you get scammed, you deserve it.

There are very legitimate threats in the crypto world that you can protect yourself from.
But even after that, if someone manages to hack you and steal your coins, you are a victim.

But if you walk into transactions totally ignorant and naive, ignoring common sense and you get scammed.
Than you aren't a victim, you are just stupid.
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tron (TRX) I missed the opportunity.. sad... on: June 12, 2018, 12:15:52 AM
TRX rises unbelievably, What a golden opportunity I missed? damn .. Why I missed it? I didn't see any discussion about TRX before, Otherwise I could have invested in it earlier when it is cheap. now it is $.15. My bad... Cry Cry
Can you please senior experienced guys tell me how to avoid this type of golden opportunity at least next time? I didn't see anyone talking about this coin on Twitter or facebook until 3,4 days before, shit..  pls fix my heart guys

I wonder if the op still needs to "fix my heart guys" lol.

Posts like this really put things in perspective.
I wonder how many people made hasty trading decisions back then when the market was going crazy.
FOMO can really screw you over.
I'm guessing he ended up buying in at trx's all time high and is bleeding dry now.

For those that are still here after the last months of the market being down, have you learned your lessons?
Speculative price jumps are not investments you want to be a part of.

Rather, look at the coins and tokens that have brought steady gains over the course of a year.
Take that trajectory and see where they will be next year.
It will bring way more profit than pump and dumps or overvalued shitcoins.
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 🔥⭐[AIRDROP] CROWDHOLDING TELEGRAM AIRDROP⭐🔥 on: June 08, 2018, 04:09:30 PM
Crowdholding is a great way to earn crypto.

I have been using it for awhile now and have earned close to 5000 yups (crowdholdings token).
My earnings in other coins is more up and down, it totally depends on how much the startup puts up for users.
I have earned a lot in some projects (around 700 in peculium) and a tiny tiny fraction in others (2.5 tmt, traxia lol).
But overall, the spread of tokens and coins I can earn has been worth my time.

As far as the amount of time I need to dedicate, it is honestly a little more than typical bounty hunting.
I guess you can just spam generic feedback, but you will find you will not get any votes and your reward will be small.

But, the extra effort required does make it more engaging, and I find it to be much more beneficial than just a typical bounty campaign.

Also, there have been some really good startups on the platform (some not so great) that I have learned about that I ended up investing in their ico.
388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why Altcoin prices often follow Bitcoin price on: June 08, 2018, 04:03:55 PM
there are a couple things to consider:

- When you look at coinmarketcap, the prices you see are actually what the price of the coin is in btc, then that btc value is converted to usd based on the going rate of btc.
So, if Altcoin #1 costs. .001 btc, and then price of btc is $100, then Altcoin #1 will display as $1.  Is the price of btc goes up to $1000, and Altcoin #1 still costs .001 btc, then naturally it will increase to $100. So, most coins go up just based off of the value of btc going up.

- Sometimes an altcoin loses value even when btc goes up because it's price per btc has gone down.  For example, Altcoin #1 cost .001 btc.  But the price dropped to .0001 the next week.  Even if the value of btc goes up, on coinmarketcap, it will display as Altocin #1 going down in value.

- Coinmarketcap is an average of the going rate for each coin/token.  It gathers data from exchanges and averages it out.  So prices are not entirely accurate.

- The reason why btc is used to calculate value is because it is the only coin that can be widely traded for fiat (buy and sell it using real money).  So it has the most reliable indicator of $usd price because the data is wide and varied.  however, it is still somewhat innacurate because it does not include direct p2p trades from places like localbitcoins.com

390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Quick self evaluation quiz to test your basic crypto knowledge on: June 08, 2018, 03:48:32 PM
Here are some basic questions about crypto and investing, do you have a basic knowledge of crypto?

True or False:

#1 There is no big difference between a token and a coin.

#2 Everything besides Bitcoin and Ethereum are considered altcoins.

#3 Cryptocurrencies are stored inside wallets.

Short answer (answer in your own words):

#4 Explain what blockchain technology is:

#5 What is a smart contract?

#6 Where does the value of crypto come from?

What do these terms mean/stand for?

#7 FUD

#8 DEX

#9 FOMO

#10 ICO

If you struggled to answer any of these questions, then stop everything immediately and do basic research.  It is never a good idea to buy and sell something you don't know the basics about.
391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $$MORE EXPENSIVE THAN bITCOIN$$ on: June 07, 2018, 03:38:48 PM
It certainly is interesting to see all the different types of coins and prices out there.

CMC is a little tricky though.
A lot of times, data is incorrect or hasn't been updated yet.
Also, is a coin has little volume or info, the stats could be way off.

Some of the coins, the price can be misleading, for example, the bit20 coin is actually an index fund type management.
There is a guy who holds a portfolio of the top 20 coins and updates it as the coins move in rank.
He has tokenized the value of his portfolio and you can buy in.
What that means is that the value of the token is equal to the value of the top 20 coins (divided up amongst the tokens).

Also, the price of btc is pretty deceiving.
Since it was meant to be divided all the way to one satoshi (.00000001), that means that although one btc seems expensive, it is actually divided up into smaller units and not that expensive at all.
It's like is I were to tell you the price of one KG of diamonds, it would be crazy high.
But the reality is that no one buys one KG of diamonds, instead they buy it in smaller amounts at smaller prices.
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance wants the crypto bubble to burst! on: June 07, 2018, 03:31:24 PM
So, any links or evidence Binance is saying this?

Also, you sound like the crypto bubble bursting is a bad thing.
This is a huge red flag that you know nothing about investing.

Bubble economies are bad for EVERYONE.
Despite what you think, there aren't that many millionares made from bubble economies.
For every millionare made, there are literally thousands who lost a lot of money.

So, how do you survive?
You invest in terrific companies with promising futures, companies that will outlast the bubble popping.

On a side note, binance saying this isn't surprising.
They are actually very strict about their listing policy.  A coin has to have at least an mvp to be listed on Binance and the high cost of getting listed keeps shitcoins away.
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When Binance? The most asked question after ICO sales in Telegram group on: June 06, 2018, 08:51:40 PM
lol, yeah, that question pops up so much.

Practically speaking, people want it on binance because it is the highest volume exchange in the world.
More volume means higher amounts of buys and sells, which can drive prices up (or down).
Ico investors are eager to make a quick profit.

Another reason is because binance has become some weird golden standard for icos.
There's this feeling that if the project gets on binance, it is legitimate and has hit a milestone.
The reason why they feel this is because binance is very expensive to get on (or a coin/token can win a popularity vote) and it has to have at least an MVP.
So it's kind of like a sign to investors that progress is being made.

The whole thing is nonsense really.
There are so many high volume exchanges out there and lately, newly listed coins don't necessarily pump at all.
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any advice for NEWBIE? like me? on: June 06, 2018, 08:43:25 PM
Create an investment plan for 2018.

This means take a good look at your income and how much extra money you can use to invest.
Make sure you look at the whole year and what percentage of your income you can devote on a monthly basis.

Then decide how much profit you would like to make.
In crypto, it is not foolish to expect even 5x to 10x returns, anything in that range is realistic.
Since it is already june, aim to earn 20% of your profit goal from now to september, and then the rest in the end of the push (there is typically a huge bull run at the end of the year).

Then, start to build your portfolio.
Allocate percentages.  For example, 40% of your portfolio in btc, eth, or ltc (these coins are the ones you will use to make purchases in alts or an ico), 20% in privacy coins, 20% in smart contract platforms, etc.

Don't forget to allocate around 20% to super speculative risky investments like and ico.
Do all of this, and you are already 100% smarter investor than the vast majority of idiots doing crypto.
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have around 8000 BTC,but my country are too small cap to cash out on: June 05, 2018, 04:27:33 PM
Well, to be honest, my first impression is that you are lying.
The reason why is because if you really did jump in to btc a couple years ago, and can't even figure out how to cash out, then you obviously don't know the fundamental benefits of blockchain.  Which means you are either ignorant all these years or lying.

But, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and offer a solution for you:

- Blockchain is decentralized p2p technology that is virtually untraceable to real life identities and accounts if done p2p.  So, what this means, is that all you have to do is find buyers you can directly sell to and skip exchanges all together.

As far as banking goes, just make an offshore bank account.  Do a quick google search, there are lots of companies that will help you do this.

If you are really lost, then I recommend using localbitcoin.com.  It's basically ebay for btc.
You can find buyers easily through there and then have them pay through western union, or just direct deposit into your bank account.

One thing you need to realize though, is that no matter what changing 8000 btc into cash is going to take a lot of time, so take that into account.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The largest bank in Norway announced cooperation with IOTA ... on: June 04, 2018, 04:11:03 PM
Ok.

But isn't IOTA supposed to be the backbone of the Internet of Things?
What practical use can a bank have with IOT?
Isn't IOTA supposed to forgo the necessity of centralized systems (which big banks represent) and fascilitate smooth transaction on the hyperconnectivity of our world?

Or, am I supposed to see this as big banks finally willing to look into structural changes?
To be honest, to me that just seems impossible.

So, for now, I will still wait iota out.
AS always, there can be scenarios where it absolutely explodes and becomes the standard for how blockchain should be implemented (although it's not blockchain).
But, a lot of it seems like such a monumental task that can never be implemented fully.

So even if the price of iota increases a lot this year, I will still see how it goes and decide whether to jump in net year,
397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 5 essential rules to avoid cryptocurrency scams on: June 04, 2018, 04:04:22 PM
another important rule is to have 2F authentication on EVERYTHING.

I would say that the best type of 2F authentication is to use your phone.
Since most phones nowadays use fingerprint technology, your phone is one of the most secure devices you have.
Much more so than your email.
(of course, whether you lose your phone or accidentally drop it in the toilet is another thing...)

Also, the importance of cold storage can not be overstated.
Just like it is good to store your data on two devices (on your computer and on an external drive or thumb drive).
It is good to have your keys in an easily accessible device (like a ledger or trezor) and also in a good old fashioned lock and safe.

If you don't have one, then you can always open one at your bank.
Your investments are money and also future money, so do what it takes to secure them 100%.
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you think this year will be Red? on: June 04, 2018, 03:57:38 PM
A year is a long time and a lot can happen.
The reality will always be a mix of different extremes.

Although we have mostly experienced losses this year, we can also expect some huge gains too.
Overall, the market will grow this year, by how much is harder to see.

So we, as investors, need to plan on taking advantage of the both situations.
When the market is low and slow (like right now) we should be buying up.

When the market takes off we should be selling.

It is such a simple concept that somehow seems very difficult to do in real life.
It takes patience more than anything.
And how many of us can say we are patient people? lol
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coss would be next big thing?? on: June 01, 2018, 04:15:25 PM
I don't know, the exchange market is getting really flooded right now.
My experience with Coss is different than yours.
I found their exchange slow, unresponsive, full of bugs, and not easy to use.

I see that they are rolling out updates to make it smoother, but it's not what I would call steady progression.
I suppose someday, they will be able to handle to volume and technical side, but why wait when there are so many other better exchanges out there?

Instead, I see Bibox as being the next big exchange.
It already has insane amounts of volume and is particularly popular amongst the asian crowd.
Like kucoin, they are known for listing some relatively harder to find coins.

As it starts to get more attention from western traders, it will blow up even more.
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero a Good Investment? on: June 01, 2018, 04:11:03 PM
Yes Monero is fantastic.

When you look at what coins are good to invest in, you should also consider what category they fall under and what is their competition.
For example smart contract platforms category: eth, neo, ada, eos, etc.

So monero falls under the privacy coin category and it's competitors are: dash, verge, cloackcoin, etc.

Hands down, Monero absolutely dominates all these other privacy coins.

It has better tech, constant development, a unified community, brand name recognition, and is actually being used.
Don't worry about the price, in proportion to it's circulating supply, it is actually still pretty cheap even though it has contantly been in the top 20 coins.

A lot of people see privacy coins as going huge this year as regulations start to settle in.
That means that monero will particularly have a good year this year.
