661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash Raising! on: November 24, 2017, 07:03:06 PM
Now I read that there is an Hard fork for the bitcoin cash in novemver 13. Maybe this is the reason?

I think the only reason is to pump and then to dump on the newcomers. An old story, this time performed bigger than usually.

It seems the Bitcoin Cash price is still above $1500. When will it drop?

It won't.
Well, it might price correct but I highly doubt it will go below $1000.
Remember, valuation of a coin/token is all about how much value we put into it.
Since there are enough whales and manipulators putting artificial value on it it will never go down.
So the artificial pumping of the coin is no longer artificial, that's just how bch is now, a top 5 coin with an astronomical rise in market cap that has no uses and is backed by people who use shady tactics to get gain.

But aren't there other coins like that? I tried riding some of these coins pumps for gains and was able to make some small short term profit (in the case of bch's last pump a made a couple hundred dollars), but after that I decided my precious time is shouldn't be wasted on junk projects no matter how much profit is in it.

I guess it's just my personality, but putting some pricipals and ethics in what I do has made investing in crypto more and enjoyable and less stressful.
662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: China to launch Wechat coin on: November 22, 2017, 09:24:55 PM
Shouldn't this post be in the altcoin forum?

There hasn't been that much evidence put out that this is the case.
But, China issuing their own coin would make sense considering their recent actions to control icos and exchanges.
A lot of regulations were made to ensure that chinese businesses prosper in china with wechat being one of them.

Ban facebook and twitter, which gives qq and wechat dominance in the chinese market.
Ban google, enter baidu.
Ban youtube, enter youku.
Of course, a lot of the head politicians in the communist party are heavily invested in these chinese companies.

With something as big as crypto, I guessed that the similar things would occur, government controlling crypto to pave the way for a chinese company and coin to dominate the market.

Whether this is through wechat or not is yet to be seen.
663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 150$ to trade on: November 22, 2017, 04:37:22 PM
I like cryptopia.

There are is a lot of price fluctuation with smaller coins that has a lot of opportunity for buy low sell high scenarios.
A couple weeks ago, I tried my hand at active day trading and was able to turn around a pretty big profit.
However, it was stressful and my timing was lucky.
I can really see how you can lose a lot of money by trying to day trade.

So now, I just choose more reliable coins, buy low, put in a sell order for higher and just let it sit until it gets filled.
Right now, btc and alts are going through another ballooning stage so this will help to increase your assets.

Some things to avoid:
Don't go all in on one coin
Don't get too greedy and set a sell order for too high
Choose a coin that has high volume of trading

Some things to do:
Have fun and good luck!
664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Dash hit $1000 by January? on: November 22, 2017, 01:22:02 AM
No, it won't hit $1000.
Before making wild speculations or ask crazy questions just do some simple math.
Although crypto is volatile you can make educated predictions based off of marketcap, circulating supply, price of coin, history of the coin, etc.

With the new upgrades it will probably go up to 700 to 800 dollars or so.

But, like others have said, why bother with a shady coin?
Is it really all about money?
Can't you earn your money in a different coin besides one that is blatantly a scam?

Yes, you will get some money, but you are actually enabling the creators of the coin to make even more money and control the market, YOUR market and mine, even more.

Eventually, Dash will crash and burn, who knows how long it will go?
Bitconnect is another ponzi scam scheme, how long will all of these types of projects last?
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Are Now Used in Crimes on: November 21, 2017, 04:36:47 AM
Of course btc is used for crime.

Here are some other things it is used for: play video games, buy stuff online, transfer wealth, pay for services, start up businesses, travel, buy pizza, and oh, did I forget to mention: invest!?

The wonder of blockchain technology is that it is decentralized, meaning, you can really use it however you want.
That insane price on btc? just a result of people using it and putting value on it.

Silk road? Of course people were using btc.
btc is really just a tool that can be used for anything you would like.
Kind of like that old Clue game, one of the weapons was a wrench.  Well, that's just a tool that can be used to fix things or to bash someone upside the head with.

BTC is fine, eventually governments will try to regulate it, but crime will just keep going on.
666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins Versus Tokens? on: November 20, 2017, 03:25:12 PM
Basically think coins = independent entity, like a company that is owned by a set group of people, has there own resource and distribution network, and their own product that can be bought and sold, etc.

so a token = a franchise, it is dependent on the original source to exist and uses that original source to produce it's own thing.

Maybe my comparisons are not so great.  But arguments can be made on the benefits and weaknesses of both.

For tokens, their value tends to go up and down depending on the platform it built its smart contract on.
Right now, eth is by far the most used but neo and waves will probably pick up in the future.
Although it is not a deciding factor, the price of eth can affect the price of tokens that are using eth smart contracts.
It looks like eth will finally break the $400 boundary so things are looking good.

For coins, it has the benefit of being able to independently develop, but you are more at the mercy of the team.
I've seen some great coins with lots of potential die slowly because the development team stops being active or just messes things up.

Ironically, in the end, the price of BTC is the one that really regulates the market because it is the only coin with high liquidity so coins and tokens are pretty dependent on btc price.
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving Bitcoins for your Children. on: November 16, 2017, 09:53:21 PM
This is actually really interesting and I never thought of it.

For me, of course I would love to save bitcoins for my kids, but not as a super long term future investment.
Unfortunately, I don't think bitcoin will be around that long.
Now, don't get me wrong, I believe that blockchain technology is revolutionary and is here to stay, but BTC how it is now is just flat out unsustainable.
It is already suffering major scaling issues and isn't even mainstream yet.
In fact, btc going mainstream is going to be its demise.  As more adopt it, the more it will become evident that high fees and long transaction times are a major problem.
Then, along will come a better coin that will replace it because btc has already paved the way.

Of course, btc coins and blockchain will never technically disapear so it would be really interesting if 20 years from now my kids can access that btc as a "novelty"item.

Or even 50 to 75 years in the future it is a collectors item and will appreciate in value because of its rarity.
668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have 15 BTC worth of ALT coins, what would you do ? on: November 16, 2017, 09:44:15 PM
Wow! i feel like that list is just way too spread out.  If it really does equal around 15 btc that is a pretty insane portfolio.

Wouldn't you get more gains by consolidating your portfolio?
If you are an ultra long term holder than I suppose it wouldn't be as necessary.
But if you plan on doing any kind of short term to medium term trading than moving your investments to focus on three to five would be more manageable and also have a better chance at getting returns.

Of course, the argument can be made that with 15btc worth of crypto, shouldn't you just be leaving it all in bitcoin?
With that high amount invested, you are almost guaranteed to have a straight path to becoming a millionare within a year or two.
Even now, btc is set to rise up to 10k by the end of this year or beginning of next year.

Or, if you are a huge risk taker, put 10 btc into an ico during its presale stage and flip it when you get 3x gains.
669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO is new way to get Free money? on: November 15, 2017, 01:55:19 PM
I'm a little more level headed than others.  I don't think 90% of ico's are scams or ponzi.  Rather, I think 80% of icos are just terrible business ideas with a terrible team and a terrible product or no existing product.  The straight up scam seems to be pretty rare actually, you know, where they straight up lie and steal your ETH or BTC.  And due to regulations and more security awareness, I believe these will be more rare.  So what you mostly have are just really bad start ups to invest into.  Either it is an idea that has already been done or is done better by somebody else, a project that has absolutely no use for blockchain technology, there is no existing product only a whitepaper, or the team is just flat out incompetent.

So if 80% of icos are terrible business ideas
Then 10% are straight up scams
Then the remaining 9% are legit but nothing great.
And the final 1% are pure gold game changers.

Really, are you going to make a lot of money off of icos?
Don't listen to the rare one or two who claim to have made it big and rather listen to the literally HUNDREDS of people here warning about how icos are risky investments.
670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's collapse on: November 15, 2017, 02:36:32 AM
I feel like these "posts" (aka advertisements disguised as posts) would be a lot more successful if the op took some writing courses, preferably at the college level.
On the positive side, I get a kick out these because it is just so laughably obvious that it is an advertisement.
But on the other side, I always feel like time is wasted, not just mine but the website, coin, or mining group they advertise.

Perhaps it is low quality because it is free? It's not paid marketers? If it is paid, then I would want a refund if this is all they produced.
Also, isn't the audience the wrong target audience?
If it's for a mining site, then newbies definitely aren't the type to get into that, they are too busy trying to find an ico to invest in.
And I can't see anyone would fall for this unless they were entirely new to crypto.
I mean, I'm fairly new having got into it about 6 months ago and I've already seen btc "crash" a couple times, there's no way I would believe this thread.

And I might as well be nitpicky, who is gonna believe a one post newbie?
671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nobody's talking about Bitcoin Gold !!! on: November 14, 2017, 01:28:29 PM
Nobody is talking about it because it is entirely irrelevant.
There have been numerous forks of BTC, where are they now?
BCH is forcing itself to be meaningful but the only way they can do it is through an extreme, coordinated effort to massively pump the coin.
The majority of the crypto community didn't see this as BCH replacing BTC, they merely just rode the pump to get more btc.

And that's how it is, btc is really the only reliable crypto right now.
It has many real world uses, it is the most widely accepted, and the most important it is the coin with the most liquidity.
BCH has no chance.

So, going back to bitcoin gold, if bch has no chance, than what chance does bitcoin gold have?
672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Shirts on: November 13, 2017, 08:53:59 PM
typically this isn't the place to advertise stuff, but the shirts are interesting.

Personally, I would like a joke coin shirt.

like trumpcoin, jesus coin, or fucktoken.
673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP is a complete fraud GET OUT! on: November 13, 2017, 08:51:03 PM
What an interesting thread.  The original post is pretty nonsensical, but afterwards the posts that go into specific failings of the company are more worthwhile.  Of course, it is always important to realize that information on a forum website can be pretty unreliable.

I was a person who bought a bunch of XRP when I first got into crypto.  I will admit it here, I bought it cause a youtube video promoted it.
Needless to say, I have learned my lesson the hard way.

But the main reason I sold them all off and decided not to deal with it anymore was when I actually did my own research.
I didn't go as far into trying to find scam warnings or scandals, but I quickly realized that there is a big difference between the company and the actual token itself.
I really disliked that it was basically a centralized solution for banks, which basically goes entirely against Satoshi Nakamoto's vision.
The last thing I want to do is support a way for banks to become more centralized.
Also, there is basically no use for the token itself.
There is no reason for it to appreciate in value, it is there mainly to act as back up funds for the company.

So I sold them all and haven't regretted it one bit.
674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SAFEST ALTCOINS TO INVEST IN? on: November 13, 2017, 01:30:31 PM
If safety is all you are concerned about, then any of the top 15 coins on coinmarketcap would be good.
Some might argue that BCH is not a safe investment due to the recent pump craziness, so you might want to double check some things if you are thinking about that one.
Also, dash is another one that has quite a bit of controversy because it's so centralized.

If the top coins don't interest you, then look at at coin's history.
The ones that have been around for over a year and have had a steady price range indicate a more solid coin.
If its history is filled with tons of pump and dumps than it might just be another shit coin.

Finally, the best thing to do is just research yourself.
You will quickly start getting a good idea on solid projects vs. shitty ones.
675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2X cancellation - BCH pump - BTC drop - soon BCH = Bitcoin name replacement? on: November 13, 2017, 03:07:38 AM
Well, I am honestly thankful for this whole BCH drama.

I've been waiting for a price correction on BTC for a long time now and voila! BCH to the rescue!
I put a bunch more into just straight up buying more btc after it went below 6000.

As far as BCH is concerned, although it was a pump and dump scheme, or maybe even a hostile takeover, it really did show BTC's major weakness: scalability.
As BTC gets more and more mainstream transaction times and costs will really shoot up.
I love BTC, and I love the idea of decentralized digital currency and I hope it can become mainstream.
But the irony in all of this, is that if BTC becomes mainstream, it will actually end up being a really frustrating way to pay for something.

Someday, eventually a better technology that has the same decentralized idea will take over, what that is...sheesh! How would I know?
676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Satoshi wins! on: November 12, 2017, 07:29:13 PM
I've only been in crypto for about 6 months, and I gotta say, this weekends' insanity with btc vs. bch was pretty intense.

In the end, was it a chinese conspiracy theory designed to be a hostile takeover of btc?
Or was it just an elaborate pump and dump scheme?

Well, it looks like satoshi nakamoto wins in the end.  The idea of a decentralized currency that is controlled by us and not the powers that be has won over.
Despite bitcoins high transaction fees and long wait times, we have all essentially chosen btc as our king.
And I wonder, if bch was reall trying to takeover btc, is that even possible?
How many users of btc are there that has no idea about this crazy pump or even that bch exists?
Has btc gotten to the point where it has become so integrated in things that even if a different, better coin comes along, will that new coin even make a sound?
What about projects like iota, same decentralized idea but a radically different technology, will they be able to someday replace btc?
Kind of a crude analogy, but even though VHS was KING it was eventually replaced by dvd.
677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why So Many ICOs — What Does It All Mean? on: November 11, 2017, 05:21:45 PM
Basically, it means that the ICO market is in a bubble, and will burst.
In fact, I believe it is already bursting.
How many of these ICOs are actually successful?
How many people put money into an ico an lose money or not get what they were promised?
How many of these people will do an ico again?

Right now, ICOs get a lot of money off of those new to crypto with dreams of becoming a quick millionare.
Hmmmmm...where are all those millionares that earned it through an ICO?

Also, it is common knowledge now that you can anticipate the prices to crash below the ICO price after it hits exchanges.

So, basically, just cause there's a lot doesn't mean its good.
In fact, it is quite the opposite.
678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash is King on: November 11, 2017, 04:30:11 PM
If you really do believe that bch is king, then you should sell it before it price corrects, because it will.

If it's a pump and dump(which it is showing all signs that it is), the price will drop.

If there are legitimate investors moving to bch because segwit didn't work out, then it will still drop.
Any commodity, stock, and crypto can not sustain such growth.  Eventually, it will price correct.

So sell it now, and if you still believe in it, buy more when the price dips.
I personally, think that bch will never replace btc.
I'm in the camp that believes btc will never be replaced until an entirely different decentralized crypto with better tech comes along to replace it.

The ironic thing of this, is if you do the opposite of what others say and do than all of the advice in this thread is kind of moot.
679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are alts dumping so hard now ? Advice please on: November 10, 2017, 10:31:53 PM
Wow! I think one of your problems is that your portfolio is was too spread out.  If you have significant amounts in all of those that must be stressful managing them, not to mention the potential for gain gets divided up significantly.

Since BTC went down, alts went down.  That's just how it is.
When you have bought a coin at a high price and the price crashes, really the best thing to do is just hold.
It looks like you put money into a lot of reputable projects so think long term, you surely will get gains next year.

I remember a post awhile back that demonstrated the importance of holding.
It was a screenshot of coinmarketcap in nov. 2016 vs. a screenshot of coinmarketcap today.
The difference is shocking.  Just take BTC for example, just one year ago it was under $1000! Crazy!
680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin dragging the whole altcoin market down? on: November 10, 2017, 10:25:33 PM
One of the biggest problems in the crypto world right now is basically only BTC can be liquidated into fiat (real life cash).
There are some exchanges that do ETH or LTC to fiat but it is mostly BTC.

All of the altcoins are acquired through BTC, so that is how the connection makes all prices plunge.
What is going on right now happens every couple months or so, but inevitably, BTC jumps back up and reaches new heights.
One of the things to be very careful of is to not panic sell when prices plunge.  BTC will not die and still has tremendous room to grow so it will eventually go up.

Probably one of the smartest things to do when prices dip is to time your BTC purchases with these price corrections.
Don't wait too long though, because the price can spike up very quickly sometimes in a mere hours.
