- 1% Pre-mine for development, promotional and immediate bounties.
Let me explain this in more detail: The pre-mine is done on speculation that the coin will return some cash in the future. As a developer these coins take time to code and add in new features etc... This balance has also been used to pay out a lot of compensation for people who have lost coins due to the relaunch of the coin on the 19th, (Yes i'm a developer who actually does that!)

- 15 coins per PoW block to the foundation for long term support. The foundation only gets a very tiny % of PoS blocks
Let me explain this in more detail: Developing and running a coin takes time and effort, the foundation balance is used for keeping the coin going and paying everyone who is involved or working on the team on a daily basis. So far we have 3 full time team members and a load more people working on single tasks for BoostCoin. this all costs money that the foundation supports, and if the coin really takes of do you think they will work for free? i dont think so.. At the time of writing this there is 123624 BOST in the foundation fund, which is far lower that everyone thinks due to the PoS block creation. Here is the difference between PoW and PoS foundation block amounts.. http://s25.postimg.org/42qm9oucv/Screen_Shot_2014_05_29_at_14_06_20.png

When do we see more progress? Could you tell us what do all those people do all day?

Your explanation for premine and block percentage is subjective and misleading. Let me clarify a little:

Your donation percent is about 2,91% from PoW blocks. That means you will have the premine of 1% + 2,91% = 3,91% of all coins. Simple math really. PoS blocks have nothing to do with the percentage you are getting. They just lower the entire PoW subsidy. Not just for you, but for everyone.

Everyone can judge their own if dev controlling 3.91% of all coins is very tiny or not. Im not going to comment on that. I just cleared up the facts.

Did you provide any logs of how much you have compensated to early miners? Can we see the list of addresses as a proof please?

I'd like to know the answers to this too. Thank you.

Still waiting for dev to answer please.

Breaking news!

We have decided to go with the X13 hashing function instead of X11.

X11 has became extremely popular lately which consequently is the reason why it's the new primary target for asic manufacturers. There are concerns that X11 asics are already being developed. However, X13 is more power-efficent, more resistant to asics and has no drawbacks compared to X11. We apologize for any inconvenience this late announcement has caused and hope that all Digit fans support us in this decision.

meh. this is the first one. hashrate is growing and growing. all the rest will be in its shadow.

Except the fact that its not the first one.
Maru was first x13. Boost cloned x11 coin src and copied couple of files from Maru. Thats it.
Digit is going with a x13 hashing, but its rather different from all current coins.
For me it doesnt really matter if coin is x11 or x13.
However the X11 fpgas are reality now. So X13 is indeed more gpu and cpu miners friendly.

Couple of files...haha!

Do i need to say exact number of changes you needed to make?
It took me 15 minutes to convert x11 pow pos coin to x13and verify it.
So dont make yourself look like a fool. I could easily post here all the changes needed for conversion. Its piss easy for anyone who knows the code.

We have the first bounties and goals for Digit.

- Fully featured block explorer bounty
- Android wallet fund
- First major exchange fund
- Anonymous payments integration fund
- CoinPayments fund

We are open for suggestions about additional bounties and funds.

Good Ideas. Is the anonymous fund going to aim zerocoin implementation?

Hi.
So far all i can see from source code is just another clone.
Could you please upload anything to new on to github repository? Just to prove your claims.
Doing so will surely benefit to your coin.

The PoW phase is running faster that expected due to the massive uptake of the coin. Since the 19th May relaunch date we are now about 50% of the way through the PoW phase.

Remember the PoW will end at block 43200, after that mining will not be possible and the coin will go to 100% PoS

Is it possible that the PoW phase is going faster because PoS is constantly generating blocks?
If so, there will only be around half as many (depending on how the coin is set up) coins generated from PoW as you were expecting.

You are correct and dev is not. There are a lot more blocks per day because of PoS, not because of hash rate and popularity increase.
Since PoS has its own difficulty, it is not following the path of PoW.
As a result there will be less PoW blocks on overall and more total blocks per day.
So as an example. This coin targetspacing is 60s, which in theory leads to 1440 blocks per day. In practice there are way over 1440 blocks per day. Actual numbers may be close to 2000 blocks per day or even more.
There is no way to calculate how many PoW blocks there will be generated each day, but looking at the blockchain i could take a wild guess, that we get around 1000 PoW blocks per day.
Hopefully it answers your question.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM Darkcoin instamine 2 millions DRKs (50% of darkcoin in circulation) on: May 28, 2014, 10:30:17 AM
Darkcoin

    derived from Quark

type of algorithm: blake, bmw, groestl, keccak, jh, stein

    PoW and PoS

The following data and time stamps were collected from the Darkcoin blockchain 32).

    Block 1: 2014-01-19 Time: 3:54:41
    Block 1000 : 2014-01-19 Time: 4:33:39
    Block 2000: 2014-01-19 Time: 06:25:47
    Block 3000: 2014-01-19 Time: 09:10:16
    Block 3250: 2014-01-19 Time: 11:22:11

Looking at this data, we see that Darkcoin was mined with 500 DRK generated per block from the get go. From block 1 to at least block 3250, according to their blockchain, they were still producing 500 coins each block. The transition from 500 to 277 coins per block occurs between 3250 and 3500 but this author did not see the necessity of getting the exact moment of halving. Simple math shows that 3250 blocks multiplied by 500 coins a block is 1,625,000 Darkcoins created between the times of 3:54 and 11:22 on January 19th, 2014. As of today there are around 4,300,000 DRK in existence, making this a pretty hefty instamine. The Darkcoin website expects around 22,000,000 DRK to be created. That means in less than 8 hours, almost 5% of the Darkcoins that ever will be created spawned in that 1/3 of a day. It's safe to say Darkcoin has left it's investors in the dark on this one.

Facts in this info are correct. The big mystery is, how much of it is controlled by DRK dev. Missing fact from this quote is that until 3250, the difficulty of entire network was extremely low. Most of those instamined coins can easily belong to a single miner. We dont know if he/she has sold them or maybe traded them to even bigger stack. Blockchain gives no info about the person(s) behind the addresses. One person can easily have tens or even hundreds of DRK accounts.
The facts are clear. The mystery is, how much DRK is controlled by dev and hes friends. This number can easily be 1% and it can easily be 50%. Only they know how much it is. No one else can prove anything about it.

Formula to success.

Bought a million coins from myself. Sent it to my 65 private keys. Made shitloads of volume.
Look at the block explorer. It so well distributed...

398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [DIG] DIGIT X13 | Launching on This Sunday! | on: May 27, 2014, 08:09:39 PM
Setting up X13 pool is the same as setting up X11 pool.

Since Digit mining lasts 1 year, the asics are not really a threat for X13. We can safely mine it with our CPUs and GPUs.
I like the fact that X13 keeps my graphic card cooler while mining. 27C outside is hot enough. I dont need any extra heat.  Wink
I also like this rising interest rate a lot. This should generate some additional buy pressure.

are there any pools that can mine this

What do you  mean? Digit X13 launch is on Sunday evening. Timer is in the OP.

does that mean you have to solo mine or will there be a pool like minep.it

Im sure there will be pools soon after launch. Im probably going to try solo for at least few hours. Depends how fast difficulty jumps.
