381  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Remove 2FA in Electrum and use Standard Wallet instead. on: January 30, 2024, 02:32:22 PM
This is what to do:

Can I do that using the existing Electrum Android wallet app?
I tried earlier, but after entering the 12-seed phrase, the finish button is not clickable.
Is there a step-by-step guide to follow?
Yes. You can use the existing wallet app. Click on your wallet name at the upper right corner -> other wallets -> create wallet-> name your wallet or go by the default name -> wallet with two-factor authentication -> I already have a seed -> input the seed phrase -> disable 2FA and proceed.
I followed this step but after clicking the next button, I got this error

Please see the attached screenshot below:

Yes, you can disable the 2FA. While importing the seed phrase on Electrum, you will see where you will disable the 2FA.

383  Bitcoin / Electrum / Remove 2FA in Electrum and use Standard Wallet instead. on: January 30, 2024, 01:29:09 PM
Need your help. I'm using Electrum on Android. I transferred my Bitcoin from my Trust Wallet to Electrum, setting up a wallet with 2FA. I didn't realize that there's a fee for using 2FA on Electrum at the time I did it, probably because I was eager to transfer the satoshis, fearing that my Trust Wallet might have been compromised.

I transferred it from Trust Wallet to Electrum last December, and on January 28, I attempted to make the first transaction. However, I was surprised to see an extra fee aside from the mining fee, so I inquired about it.

Here's the post I made in a thread:
The BTC fees is not expensive as before, only need less than $2 (mempool) to send a transaction with the size less than 250 bytes and it should be confirmed in the next block.
Yeah maybe, but look at my case. I'm trying to deposit 20 USD of BTC, but besides the mining fee, is there also an extra fee? And I think paying 9.68 USD for 20 USD is still expensive. It's already the same amount that I'll bet on a single match. I don't know if there's anything else I should do.

Please see the attached screenshot below.

I see, you have used the 2FA service/TrustedCoin 2FA in your Electrum wallet and that is not a free service.
That is why there is an Extra Fee, I suggest to use a standard electrum wallet.
For more info kindly read here: https://api.trustedcoin.com/#/faq

And for the mining/transaction fees, there are some outputs in your BTC address which caused the fees are a bit expensive.
The fees are not affected by the amount of BTC you send, but it depends on the outputs of that transaction.
e.g: Sending 3 outputs of $20 will be more expensive in fees than sending 1 output of $20.

I still don't have an Electrum wallet on my laptop, as I am worried that my machine might not be safe since I already had other compromised wallets before.

I hope that the experts here can answer and help me with some of my questions.

Is it possible to disable 2FA on my current wallet address? If yes, how? If not, what should be my first step? How can I restore it using the seed phrase to remove the 2FA? I followed the instructions on the TrustedCoin FAQ page but I need more guidance. Do I need to restore it on a new or different device?

Thank you

Dapat nga sa sitwasyon mo, sila ang unang makakaintindi kasi meron din silang trading feature, they buy and sell bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The outcome of merging traditional finance and decentralised finance. on: January 29, 2024, 12:34:56 PM
The reason I brought up the need for platforms with strong security and transparency is because of the "security concerns." If we want this merger to be successful, developers should focus on developing platforms that meet these criteria. Have you heard of ONDO? I'm still observing it, but It's one platform that could potentially fulfill these requirements, and if it lives up to expectations, it could be the key to achieving a seamless integration of traditional finance (trad-fi) and decentralized finance (defi).
What ONDO stands for? I want to understand how it addresses the security concerns and transparency aspects to make the merger to be effective. Does it really have the potential role in achieving the integration?

What do you think are some other key factors to consider for a successful merger? Have you come across any other interesting projects besides ONDO that are tackling this challenge?
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: seeking good projects on: January 29, 2024, 12:15:11 PM
Crypto space has its dynamic nature so it’s challenging to predict the future.
The best way to do this is research research research! Be updated on the latest news and market trends. If you are interested in a particular altcoin or project, do your thorough research and understand the underlying technology and use cases.
If you have a question about a specific project, you can ask it here in the community, they can give you insights.
Just want to leave the universal advice, please do not invest what you can’t afford to lose. And also don’t get caught up in short-term hype and FOMO.
387  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are every activities/competitions with stake known to be gambling? on: January 29, 2024, 10:52:11 AM

Are sports games or related competitive activities which stakes are involved between both sides or teams also gambling?
Remember, there would be a winner to be rewarded and a looser to lost the stakes.
Gambling involves playing games of chance for money or taking risky action in the hope of a desired result.
When individuals place bets on the outcome of sports games or competitive activities, that act can be considered gambling, as it involves staking something of value on an uncertain event with the hope of winning something else of value.
So, sports games or competitive activities themselves may not be gambling, betting on their outcomes would be.

390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I Want To Invest Money From My Inheritance In Bitcoin, But? on: January 27, 2024, 11:34:52 PM
I think you need to have an open and honest conversation with your brothers about the potential risks involved in investing, especially in a volatile market like cryptocurrencies. Make sure they understand that the value of Bitcoin can fluctuate significantly and that there are no guaranteed returns. Additionally, discuss your investment strategy and the long-term approach you plan to take. If they are comfortable with the risks and align with your investment philosophy, you could consider moving forward.

But take the time you need to grieve and make decisions when you feel ready.
391  Economy / Gambling / Re: 👑 CoinRoyale.com - Original Bitcoin Casino | Trusted Since 2013 ✔️ on: January 27, 2024, 11:25:09 PM
I’m feeling bold about placing my bets on the Chiefs to cover and the Lions to upset the Niners. Detroit looks fierce this season and could pull off a surprise. However, I'm hesitant about the extra fee using Electrum; I just wanted to try these matches with a small bet, but the total fees would be even higher. I also wanted to have some Doge in another wallet, but it seems it might not be enough for the minimum amount to exchange.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on the over/underlines?
392  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎰 What's Your Top Pick for Crypto Casinos in 2024? Share & Discover Hidden Gems on: January 27, 2024, 02:22:54 PM
My top pick for platform & features is Stake.com, the platform is sleek, the game variety is extensive, and they constantly introduce new and innovative features. The user interface is intuitive, and the overall gaming experience is smooth. They also offer a wide range of cryptocurrencies, which is a plus.

In terms of safety, it's hard to beat BitStarz. Their provably fair games, transparent policies, and responsive customer support have earned them a stellar reputation for trustworthiness. It offers instant withdrawals and doesn’t require KYC checks, which adds to the sense of safety.
393  Economy / Gambling / Re: My betting strategies on: January 27, 2024, 11:57:51 AM
Yeah, past encounters between teams can sometimes hold predictive power, a consistent underdog beating a seemingly superior opponent isn't unheard of. It can provide some insights into how teams performed against each other in the past but for me, head-to-head history isn't a guarantee. Past performance doesn't always guarantee future results, teams can improve, tactics can change, and unforeseen circumstances can arise.

Analyzing recent form, current player conditions, and any recent changes within the teams are also important considerations when trying to predict the outcome of a match.
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitwise becomes first US spot Bitcoin ETF to disclose BTC holding addresses on: January 26, 2024, 07:50:19 AM
Bitwise's actions align with the fundamental principles of Bitcoin, prioritizing transparency and open verification. This approach enables investors and regulators to independently validate asset holdings and transaction flows. I believe that if Bitwise were to attempt to falsify their records, it would be detectable.

Other companies may choose not to follow suit, perhaps due to security concerns. We are well aware that hackers are always lurking and can seemingly infiltrate and exploit anything, considering only the additional risks exposed, such as cybersecurity threats.

Trust in these companies is not solely based on the disclosure of Bitcoin addresses. It is built on various factors, including its track record, security measures, and regulatory compliance.
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To any Bitcoin holder who lost their seed: How did you lose it? on: January 26, 2024, 07:14:15 AM
So far, I haven't made a mistake in losing the seed or private key of Bitcoin. Does this include the wasted Bitcoin from participating in doublers and HYIP sites before? That would probably be more embarrassing to think about now.

The best way to secure Bitcoin, especially if it has a significant value, is to have a hardware wallet. Never store your seed online. What I do is I simply write down all my seeds in a notebook that only I know about.
397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: lucky check club lottery on: January 26, 2024, 03:54:47 AM
this is not a casino - this is a lottery
users pay with a credit card, but not with cryptocurrency, that's why we're interested
I visited your landing page, but I didn't find any information related to cryptocurrency. I can't confirm whether it's available because I'm not comfortable creating an account on your platform yet.
There are several reasons why there may be no sales using cryptocurrency on your lottery site. Likely, your users are unaware they can use cryptocurrency as a payment method on your site. It seems that you haven't conducted any promotions regarding this.
For some people, cryptocurrency transactions are complex, and others are not familiar with them. It would help if you made the processes in your system user-friendly to encourage users to pay with crypto. Additionally, not everyone has access to cryptocurrencies.
Have you considered strategies such as offering incentives for cryptocurrency payments, providing clear instructions on how to pay with cryptocurrency, or partnering with well-known cryptocurrency platforms to increase trust and drive sales through this method?
398  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Unofficial Gcash Thread/ Discussion on: January 26, 2024, 03:28:22 AM
399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: USA Super Bowl winner on: January 25, 2024, 11:24:20 PM
So we are down to four teams. What one do you think will win.
I believe the Baltimore Ravens will win the USA Super Bowl and hoist the Lombardi trophy. This seems to be the safest bet considering their overall talent and impressive performance during the regular season. They boast a dominant defense, an explosive offense led by Lamar Jackson, and an experienced coaching staff. The only potential challenge for them might be injuries to key players, and they haven't yet faced the toughest competition in the playoffs.
400  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Social engineering a risk to security on: January 25, 2024, 11:12:47 PM
During my high school days, around the years 2008-2009, I found a flash drive since I didn't have my computer back then, I only used it in computer shops, and I wasn't too aware of malware at that time.
When it comes to 2FA, almost all the codes are sent to my email and not through SMS. Nevertheless, our email accounts should still be secured and protected. Phishing is one of the most common social engineering techniques. Hackers often send emails or text messages that appear to be from legitimate companies or organizations, trying to trick you into clicking on a malicious link or providing personal information. Be cautious about the links you click on and the information you share online.
