381  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do I hold? on: August 26, 2017, 12:29:24 AM
I have recently took investing on poloniex serious. Ever since I've invested the alt coins have been down. Do the amount of coins I posses go up if I stay. Also, do I have to wait for the coins to go back to their original price that I bought fo in order to make a profit? What are the reasons to holding if prices are down? Thank-you.

Hold tighter if the prices are down because it means they will go up once they start to recover. Just be patient. Never ever use your emotions to decide when trading. It will give you more losses rather than profits. Hold Hold Hold!
382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Cuban Backs $20 Million Dollar Cryptocurrency Venture on: August 25, 2017, 01:42:52 AM
Quote
Billionaire investor and Bitcoin doubter Mark Cuban is coming around on cryptocurrency.

Despite saying Bitcoin was a bubble in early June, Cuban has backed venture capital firm 1confirmation, according to Bloomberg. The firm not only has plans to invest some $20 million in companies developing blockchain technologies, but it also wants to invest in early stage companies before they head into an initial coin offering (ICO)—a fundraising effort in which the offering company issues tokens rather than ownership stakes.
Founded by Runa Capital principal Nick Tomaino, 1confirmation hopes an early stage investment in a promising albeit unproven company could lead to a discounted token price once young company holds an ICO, according to Bloomberg.

1confirmation also hinted that it hopes to add value to the companies it invests in to bump up its ICO pricing.

It's not the first time Cuban has gotten involved in an ICO. Cuban also plans on participating in a fundraising round of sports-betting blockchain platform Unikrn, meaning his latest investment could result in him indirectly owning more than one kind of cryptocurrency.

ICOs have caught fire recently, at least among investors like Cuban. One major selling point is that while traditional methods of investing in a young company usually means holding onto the stake for a long period of time, tokens are far more liquid. If an investor wants out of a company, they can usually trade the company's coins for Bitcoin of Ether, which can in turn be traded for fiat currency, according to the Harvard Business Review.

Meanwhile, cryptocurrencies have surged in recent months, with Wall Street consistently raising Bitcoin's value higher and higher.

Lots of big names getting involved with ICO's. Is it because ICO's represent real value. Or is it because its relatively easy to raise the market cap of an ICO to a high dollar amount? How do people see the future of the ICOverse panning out? Will ICOdom evolve into a utopian paradise. Or will it eventually decay and entropy into a barren wasteland?

If ICOs will be used by trusted projects and companies, then most probably ICO investors will continue to shower funds to them, and eventually earn from their investments in return. A win-win scenario for both parties. But if ICOs will simply be exploited by scams and other monkey businesses people think of just to earn money easily, investors will gradually lose their trust in ICOs and sooner or later it will become, as you say, "a barren wasteland."

Here is Theymos's way of assessing coins and their real value, not monetary because in the market monero seems to be doing just fine. This might be of help to you, Monero is given a decent assessment grade https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2095328.0
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: waves or stratis on: August 24, 2017, 04:42:56 AM
hi
i am newbie and want to buy waves or stratis, can any one guide ,which coin i have to buy for long term waves or stratis.

My loyalty to these two coins will be divided if you let me choose only one between Waves and Stratis. That is why I would highly suggest that you make your investment into half and put the one half into Waves and the other half into Stratis. It will give you a safer way to acquire profit.
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying altcoins with ? on: August 24, 2017, 03:58:16 AM
Can someone please explain if I want to buy crypto-currencies apart from bitcoin is it possible or do I've to first buy bitcoin, transfer it to exchange and then convert it?

I checked bittrex but couldn't find something useful..

Are you buying other cryptocurrencies for trading purposes? Because some other uses such as gambling, you can easily reload through fiat, although like 2 or other cryptos only. If it is for trading purposes, you will have to go through BTC first. But it is very easy and quick. No hassle.
386  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you manage ur emotions? on: August 23, 2017, 12:25:30 PM
Greetings!

While trading sometimes I drop back from my original plan. Such emotional decisions often bring loss cuz I tend to change orders on panic or when I mistakenly expect more potential income. How do you deal with that if you feel the same way?

I have long made friends with such situations. These are things that are more often than not beyond my control anymore. For as long as trading exists, there are circumstances like these. When I am looking at 50% and 45% is the highest and then everything falls back after that, I just say to myself, relax, this is the crypto trading life.
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fucking Coins on: August 22, 2017, 08:45:26 AM
so many fucking coins and tokens it's such a mess
It makes me nervous and I just want this stopped
there is very little value but a lot of inflated tokens
stop this

Just because you feel nervous, you want this to be stopped? Well, not even the moderators here are banning or even locking the very obvious scam threads. You just have to learn to adjust to it because this is the crypto world. So many scams are there. So be vigilant. This is not for the faint-hearted.
388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BCH threat to BTC? on: August 22, 2017, 07:32:25 AM
Bitcoin Cash is never a threat to the real Bitcoin. Some believers of Bitcoin Cash have enumerated some features that make Bitcoin Cash a more improved Bitcoin but it seems the heart of most people are still into Bitcoin. And the crypto market confirms it.
389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves Vs. Ethereum on: August 21, 2017, 02:11:58 AM
Waves is performing much better now. I like how the waves team made progress about the project. Waves Dex is improving as well. But ETH is of course very far ahead for waves to just topple that easily. ETH is always coming second to bitcoin as of now.
390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is "Bitcoin Cash" in a position to become better than BTC? on: August 21, 2017, 01:55:25 AM
Flame throwers off, please, this is a question:
you keep calling bitcoin a bubble and talk about its doom and now ask for my flame thrower off Cheesy
ok let me find the off switch Wink

Lower fees
all the altcoins that i have seen so far have lower and much lower fees than bitcoin cash.

Quote
Faster transactions
blocks are being mined at the same speed with bitcoin! 2016 blocks in nearly 2 weeks IIRC. and they both suffer the same flaws that enables a spam attack when they gain enough adoption and people start making more transactions.

Quote
The media (sometimes) calls it a 'split', not a fork, which is sad but almost LOL funny?
media calls different things different names from time to time, it is just media!

Quote
Free money for the rich and nothing for the poor = Sounds just like the real world.
what does this have to do with your question?

Quote
Mostly based on...
Lower fees & Faster transactions:
Is "Bitcoin Cash" in a position to become better than BTC?
no. because the transactions aren't faster and the 8 MB blocks can be filled so much easier than you may think and we will be right where we started 6 months ago but the difference will be blockchain is 8 times bigger now (currently about 140 GB).

Well, do I need to answer and argue more against your claim? Here is already the detailed breakdown of all your arguments and they're answered point by point.

The sad thing here is that I think there is no off switch to the flame thrower.  Grin
391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a currency or asset? on: August 21, 2017, 01:28:28 AM
Bitcoin is money, and money can be made whatever you want. If you see a good chance to make it an asset, then that is the best move. If you want to sell it now then invest in another business it can also be justified.

Yes, Bitcoin is not just money alone. Neither is bitcoin just an asset alone also. It is both. It can be used to buy. At the same time, it can also be used to invest or considered investment itself. So, generally, Bitcoin is a currency and an asset.
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if all coins disappear?? on: August 20, 2017, 03:46:35 PM
What you will do if that thing will happen someday??

If that is the situation, can we still do something about it? I think we do not have the capacity to turn it back. Apart from bowing down and sway our heads in frustration, I will try to reach out to anyone who might have a way to bring it back and hope that it will really go back.
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When ETC will rise on: August 19, 2017, 04:54:13 PM
I think it'll never skyrocket... If i had to guess i'd say it would either decline or grow very slowly, up to the point i'd rather invest or diversify my portfolio with another coin - something more 'stable' in cryptocurrencies standards like monero and litecoin. ETC has been losing market cap nonstop if you check on CNC, definitely not a good sign for the future...

The most probable thing that happened to ETC will be to gain very little and very slowly. There are some downs along the way as expected. It will not be wise to bank a huge investment on it. But if you put LTC on its place, the same thing. LTC is also crawling very slowly, if at all. Monero is much better.
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: August 19, 2017, 07:45:56 AM
Well Litecoin is still breathing until now. This is an old thread already. So I guess it is safe to say that the official declaration of Litecoin being officially dead is not at all official.  Grin Litecoin is still out there kicking but not so hard as compared when it first came out. That is sad.
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO is the best way to invest? on: August 19, 2017, 07:14:41 AM
Do you think ICO is the best way to invest in?

Not the best. So many coins have their prices dipped down so low after ICO. But if you picked those really great projects then your coin and the waiting after the distribution will all surely be worth it. The great thing about ICOs is that you will receive a bonus.
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are You SATISFIED With AUGUST 1? on: August 18, 2017, 10:03:20 PM
At least August 1 did not really pulled Bitcoin's price to the bottom pit. There was only a slight tilting of price and then Bitcoin recovered very quick and in fact added more dollars to its price.

And who will not be happy with free money through BCH?
397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ADEX a good buy right now? on: August 18, 2017, 01:36:49 PM
Huh?

I'm in at 1.75

Since you are already in right now, there is no point selling them immediately. You should hold it. The hype may be over now but the real score of the project and its partnership with NEO has yet to bear fruits. The price will still rise but not at an instant just like what happened days ago.
398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The weakness of blockchain is the identification of a person on: August 18, 2017, 12:54:17 PM
Active use of blockchain in everyday’s life allows us solving a lot of problems, especially in the financial sphere. One of the problems with using this technology is customer identification. It's not always possible to successfully identify a partner.
Microsoft will decide this problem with BlockStack Labs and ConsenSus. They plan to develop a solution to simplify the identification based on the blockchain. For this they will use the solutions uPort and OneName that were written for Ethereum and Bitcoin accordingly. The product will be released in three months.
Such a platform may carry some interest for future ICO.

Complete anonymity is one of the great features that are intentionally integrated into blockchain. That is not actually a bad move considering that people are already looking at it as a safe way to do transactions, unlike when you do the traditional banking ways which always carry with your every transaction your personal identity. However, it is now being exploited by some other crooks.
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Cash - hold or dump? on: August 18, 2017, 03:29:03 AM
BCC for me is less interesting to keep, although maybe i will have small profit from trading it. Because in my opinion, BCC is just debris from BTC fractions. I've sold it some time ago, and divert all to a better altcoin in my opinion.
We don't know if it will be worth like $1000 in the future but i like to hold mine since BCC is only free so i have nothing to worry about that coins or the money that i will get if i sell it now.

That is another good approach to something freely given. Others are counting the money at the instant they got it. Right now there is a significant increase in value for Bitcoin Cash. Around 70% so I guess this coin can really put up a good fight in the market.
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What's going on with XRP? on: August 18, 2017, 03:02:15 AM
I like how a friend of mine describes Ripple. He says "XRP is like buying air"  Grin

with the way society is headed (ie. pollution due to global warming), air will be the most precious commodity... xrp too.

You got me with that good jab, mate.  Grin

I just hope, to rephrase it a little, "XRP is like buying fresh air." In this stage where shitcoins are all over like polluted air, XRP must be a good choice. Otherwise, we will all be suffocated with it. I am one who is expecting XRP's time to shine.
