3841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Volume Altcoin Drop on: February 13, 2017, 06:26:13 AM
does anyone know why of the reduction in trading volume altcoin in poloniex and bittrex ?

care to give us some numbers?
in the morning when i opened my bittrex account the daily volume (at the bottom of the page besides bitcoin price) was 800 bitcoin and it is still as high as any other day which is between this and 1000 bitcoin daily.

where do you see this drop in volume?
3842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you look for when investing in altcoin? on: February 13, 2017, 06:21:08 AM
What features do you look for when you pick an altcoin to increase in value? Is there a good indicator that an altcoin will do well?

only profit. and trust me when i say 99% of others around here are also like this, looking for profit which means more bitcoin which in the end translates into more fiat in their pocket after trading.
you can't find much else around here in altcoins world with people only trying to catch a pump before the peak and make a quick 50 to 100% profit in  a couple of hours and get out.
so many don't even look at the coin itself, they just know a name or worst an acronym Cheesy
3843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2017 and WHY !!! on: February 12, 2017, 07:21:17 AM
Well ignoring all the new currencies which aren't 1-2 years old I think there are 3 altcoins which I think is the best :
First monero : Of course this currency started a year ago with a price of  0.1$ and within a year it reached 10$ and currently the price is 13$ something like that I think this currency has a long way to go. I of course don't think it will beat bitcoin but it can provide good returns for sure.
Second dash : Even though it didn't have a huge increase last year I still think it has a really good potential to increase more in the upcoming months
Third Eth : Even though it didn't have a huge price change and had an increase of just 2-3$ the only thing that attracted me is the market cap If the price still remains by end of this year then I think the coin is dead.

you forgot about the best of them, Litecoin!
it has been around forever and it is a good coin with a good developers team. and besides there is a big hype coming which the Litecoin SegWit activation.

and from your list i have invested in Monero for a long time and it has always been a good and profitable investment for me.

ethereum on the other hand is a wild investment and unless we see another hype pump i can't see it becoming profitable like before ever again. but in any case i have my eye on it, always waiting for good opportunities to get in and make big profit.
3844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com seriously needs to delist YOBIT on: February 12, 2017, 07:15:28 AM
Even if they delist it,dev's of new coins will still prefer Yobit because of the pump and dump that's frequently happening and investors and traders are making profit from this scenario, but hey Yobit just updated their coin submission, they are not accepting newbie announce coin anymore and they want it bitcointalk topic only, how's that for a change.

the only coins they fake pump are the coins that are dead, and gone. which means nobody had any coins there anymore and devs are long gone. and even if there is a dev, or someone with balance outside of Yobit they either disable the deposit option or don't even have deposit option in the first place which means you can not take advantage of the pump.
3845  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New casino vs old and trusted one on: February 12, 2017, 07:08:16 AM
We know many quite old and trusted casinos like Primedice, Safedice, Crypto-games etc. And yet I see there are many new casinos appearing like Bonanza or BtcDragon. Do new ones have a chance of becoming popular nowadays? And what can bring populatiry to a new casino? I think new casinos attract investors, because there is a low bankroll there which strengthens such casinos. What else can help? Do you think a signature campaign makes big difference, for example?

it is all about new features.
for example i have been playing on primedice whenever i wanted to play dice games. but even since i found out about bitsler i moved on to there although it was a new casino by that time. it was because of the fast rolls, a nicer design and a lot of other smaller things like the design,.... that i liked more.

and i believe there is always a chance for a new casino to become popular even if it is the same old dice game they offer like other places. but since this is a competitive scene they have to be competitive too. for example offer a lower house edge, offer better features, offer lots of giveaways and good options. a better faucet, a better autoroll and bot,... so that they can compete with other older trusted places.
3846  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you beat the house edge on: February 12, 2017, 07:01:53 AM
your strategy is not much of a strategy but more of a superstitious way of thinking how things work. or maybe you are explaining it wrong.
Maybe you did not get the point. As far as I know,he is not talking about any stratagies here,he wants to beat the house edge.

i am talking about this part:
"I always deposit small amount on site and when I make it to a good balance I withdraw, then I play with faucet and loose till the next deposit."
this is the strategy i was referring to and it is not going to work for him forever!

because there is no obvious connection between you winning then withdrawing then losing with faucet and winning again. this is just some coincidence that happened most probably because when you gamble with faucet you have low amount to cover the next losses so you lose in the end. but when you deposit you have more money so you can cover the losses and win in the end.
Apart from the faucet and everything, the most crucial thing that is being wasted is time. You cannot win it back,I bet you.
again i am not suggesting usage of faucets. i am referring to the strategy that OP seems to be using. and i am trying to explain why he loses with faucet and not with the money he deposits.
because to me it seems like he is trying to win by first trying the faucet and hitting a losing streak then deposit and play to win. and that is why i called it superstition.
3847  Economy / Speculation / Re: Two newbie questions about anonymity and pump and dumps on: February 12, 2017, 06:54:37 AM
Hello, I am a newbie, but I have followed this forum on and off for a few years.
i have a feeling that we won't see you again in here, since this looks like a throw away account!

Quote
1. Bitcoin is referred to a quasi-anonymous, in that transactions to specific addresses are stored and can thus be tracked. Why doesn’t this provide a means to find out something about who/what is behind big pump and dumps?
first of all what pump and dumps? the last pump was in 2013 which was fake rise to $1200 by mtgox and we all know that clearly.
unless you want to call any rise as a pump (which is a wrong definition) there have never been any other pumps.

Quote
2. It seems to me that having fewer coins amongst a larger number of holders would be a good thing, as opposed to whales holding hordes. Do the pump and dumps help spread the coins around, or do they just get bought up by the whales agains?
again you are assuming there is pump and dump!
volatility does not mean pump and dump. the fact that size of the orderbooks are much smaller than other markets makes the swings bigger. otherwise swinging price is a perfectly normal thing.

and besides nobody is preventing anyone from buying or not buying bitcoin. it is an open market and you can choose to buy when you think there was a "dump" and take the coins out of the whales hands.
3848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In Europe, bank transfers are free and unlimited for all on: February 12, 2017, 06:49:18 AM
Really? Bank transfers are free and unlimited in Europe? Is it only on a specified country or it is in the whole Europe? This is my first time hearing it. But for me, it is much better to invest your money rather than to put it in banks. There are lots of things to consider such as inflation rate and withholding taxes because instead of gains, you will have loss if you put your money in the banks.

it is not just Europe. there are many other countries too, in the middle east for example. the Islamic banking is pretty good too. there are no fees for majority of methods for transferring money, and they are fast and safe sometimes as fast as 1 hour to 1 day.
and it is not the question for investment, it is the argument about how can bitcoin function as a currency when using fiat can be cheaper while bitcoin fees are growing.
3849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What will the price of Dogecoin be by the year 2020? on: February 11, 2017, 09:10:21 AM
My prediction for the year 2020 would be 100 Satoshis per coin, because this is the price this coin deserves IMO.

I agree this is the price this coin deserves. Would be awesome if it went up to 100 Satoshi per coin. Still thinking on whether I should use my coins or not.

i doubt that dogecoin can ever see 100 satoshi again it means a 400% rise and doge is not one of those small altcoins with a thin orderbook. it requires a huge pump that we can not even imagine. and each year that passes price falls lower and lower which makes the 100 satoshi target ever farther away and harder to reach.
3850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: People really are falling HARD for the Chronobank scam on: February 11, 2017, 09:04:14 AM
the thing about scams, mostly ICO scams is that people don't really do any research about them! not only that but worst of all is when they start getting involved with all these shitcoins they don't even see their announcement topics or even see if they have a website sometimes.

there was a topic here a while back talking about whether people check these coins anymore and majority voted no!

so long as gullible people exist, these scams thrive.
3851  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you beat the house edge on: February 11, 2017, 08:58:06 AM
Can't you beat the house edge? Today, with all these Bitcoin casinos and dices, I think it would be possible to beat small house edge with like 1%.
I always deposit small amount on site and when I make it to a good balance I withdraw, then I play with faucet and loose till the next deposit.
Can you share your experience with the gambling?

your strategy is not much of a strategy but more of a superstitious way of thinking how things work. or maybe you are explaining it wrong.

because there is no obvious connection between you winning then withdrawing then losing with faucet and winning again. this is just some coincidence that happened most probably because when you gamble with faucet you have low amount to cover the next losses so you lose in the end. but when you deposit you have more money so you can cover the losses and win in the end.

and also you got lucky too which is an important factor that anyone explaining a strategy forgets.
3852  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Win using martingale system? on: February 11, 2017, 08:53:42 AM
i know most of us knew about martingale and we do use that in order to gain profits but we also aware that this same system is not safe in a long term period as we will be caught out of the blue and our winning streak will start to change up, do you have any settings of strategy to make it much worthy to use?

So for me, I believe in order to make a martingle system work you need to have a huge starting bankroll. It will not work if you have a small bankroll because once it hit a loss it will eventually loose all your winnings and your starting money.

Share it here if you have something there Cheesy

It doesn't matter if you have a big or a small bankroll to use martingale, you can just adjust your betting amount
suited to your bankroll may it be big or small. but if you want to make the best use of martingale strategy use it
only for a short time what I mean about this is use martingale for as short as possible until you have a profit
if you failed to earn a profit then stop. but if you ask me personally avoid martingale strategy as long as possible.
you know what they(gambling owners) call martingale strategy? donation strategy!
Our aim is to win in the long run and we need consistency to be able to do that, martingale can help us if we will make it with a game that no house edge is involve. It is true that we lose in the long run and the house always wins but that reality can be bypass, we have to be smart enough to develop our skills and choose only a game where we think it can deliver us profit.

Poker is a good example of that game, I believe there are quite few gamblers who made fortune with that type of gambling.[b/]

So does in dice games, roulette, slot, scrap, blackjack etc...

and as you said few gamblers, can't imagine how many gamblers lost in poker!

My point is, don't use martingale ever time you play or if you use martingale, use it for short time only(30min-1hr etc..)
and if you failed to win some profit then use another strategy. don't aim to win in the long run aim to win every time you gamble.

if you believe that a strategy is bad, then it doesn't matter if you play with that strategy for one minute or half an hour! you can lose with it in the first minute.
and also if the strategy works for (30min-1hr etc..) then it should work for 10 hours too. since the time is not a factor in the results of betting specially when it comes to a provably fair dice game.

martingale is bad mostly because the bankroll of the players can not handle the amount of loss when a big losing streak hits. but if the bankroll problem is fixed then it can be useful.
3853  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will surge to $25,000+ on: February 11, 2017, 08:36:54 AM
I remember I have read similar articles back in late 2013 when bitcoin prices were testing $1000 levels for the very first time.

Yup, you can blame Mt Gox for BTC crashing down.

If only Mt Gox didn't fail like it did... I can only imagine where BTC would be today... It certainly 100% would be higher than it is now.

you know that Mt Gox was the reason for that rise too, right?
price wouldn't have gone to $1200 overnight if it weren't for Mt Gox fake pump and the bubble of 2013.

the only difference in case Mt Gox never existed would have been an steadier rise with a more logical rate and then a higher price today. probably around $2000.

and as i always say prices such as the $10,000 which they always say and this one article about $25,000 can not happen in short term. unless there is a ridiculous amount of adoption happening overnight which is also impossible.
3854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Central bank faces 3 dilemmas when dealing with bitcoin on: February 11, 2017, 08:29:56 AM
In a recent article its been described about the loss experienced by several banks just due to the increasing usage of bitcoin. For this banks have feared of bitcoin as well started to implement their own Blockchain technology based digital currency to keep them on the safe side. Possibly in future bitcoin gets circulated as the universal digital currency and every country will have their own digital currency.

to be honest that doesn't sound so plausible.
bitcoin is being used as an investment, which means people use banks to transfer money to exchanges in order to buy bitcoin (profit for banks) and then when they sell bitcoin they use banks again to transfer money to their bank accounts (another profit for banks). and all this time people are still using banks for all the other things like credit cards, loans, ... all profits for banks.

bitcoin can make banks lose money only if people start using it as a currency instead of using bank services which has not happened yet!

Chinese exchanges still have the biggest volumes, China is still the biggest BTC market

No they dont.

No its not.

[i m g]https://btcoins.files.wordpress.com/2017/01/china-new-curr-3.png[/img]

Thats the latest extrapolation after PBoC forced chinese exchanges to drop their pants down.

Come on - this chart lumps all USD exchanges together. Today OKCoin has had so far 20K volume - which exchange had more? Maybe the Japanese ones - but those are again zero-fees unreliable data. The same thing with the market share - CNY is pretty much only used in China - USD is used in all national markets.

well first of all who is to say Chinese exchanges aren't still reporting fake volumes? they were reporting billion dollar daily volumes not so long ago!
also you have to consider that many countries don't yet have an established and good exchange service and they trade bitcoin either on USD/EUR markets which we can see on the charts and a very big volume goes into localbitcoins and off the charts which we can never see on any chart here or anywhere else.

i my self have bought a lot of bitcoins using local currency and nobody knows because it was p2p since there is no exchange here.
3857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com seriously needs to delist YOBIT on: February 09, 2017, 07:41:05 AM
I don't know why some people crusify Yobit for pump and dump, this occur on Poloniex too and most of the exchanges are guilty of these, when Pascalcoin went on Poloniex the price jack up and people were happy to make money but when it comes to Yobit people will keep crusifing them

did you look at the last comment (the screenshot that i added)? take a look at it again carefully.

pump and dumps happen in any altcoin, but it always happens on platforms like poloniex and other exchanges and anyone can join in and make a profit. i challenge you to make a profit from the fake pumps on yobit.
first thing you will encounter is that you can not make the same size orders like yobit does, second thing is that they put up orders that you can not buy from or sell to an still make profit.

an by the way, i would have never made a topic like this if i didn't see hundreds of newbies saying Yobit is the best place where it clearly is not.
3858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any point in holding any altcoin right now? on: February 09, 2017, 07:35:32 AM
As we know, the king Bitcoin, mother of all crypto, is on a very stead bull rise. This time is not like 2013, the uptrend is slower, more controlled, and sustained over time. Ever massive selloffs like the few ones we have seen due the shady chinese government PBoC press releases, cannot stop bitcoin from going up. It always recovers stronger than before. All you have to do is keep buying all those dips.

The question arises: What's the point of holding alts? Not a single altcoin seems worth holding when BTC performs this good. Not a single altcoin is revolutionary enough to be a serious #1 contender. So what's the point in any case? might as well go all in on BTC.

well all the things you are saying here about altcoins are almost always true. and as i always say you shouldn't be keeping altcoins as a long term investment ever, not only now that bitcoin price is rising because the risks of that kind of investment is a lot higher.

but that doesn't mean you should invest in any at all just because bitcoin price is rising.

i like to categorize altcoins into two main categories: those that are being trading with bitcoin and USD and those that are only being traded against bitcoin alone.

the first group are going to fall most of the time when bitcoin price is rising, but the second group not always. also there are always exceptions to this rule.

but among all these there are pumps which will cause a profitable investment and also there are things such as the litecoin's segwit and good development news like that which can make the price go up regardless of anything else that is going on.
3859  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how to choose hi or lo in dice games ? what you have in mind when you gamble ? on: February 09, 2017, 07:30:09 AM
i chose something else option because i don't know what you mean by "zig-zag" and the option below it saying "follow the previous results".

what i do is that i follow martingale strategy but if i win i will switch between hi and lo, and if i lose i keep the same hi or lo going until i win and then switch and since the autobets don't offer this feature, i have to do it manually or find one that does or use a bot. and since i don't have the two other options i usually go back to a fixed hi or low bet.

i have to say this doesn't affect the winning or losing much, but it is a fun strategy to try.
3860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for the rich, not the poor on: February 09, 2017, 07:24:33 AM
Bitcoin is no different than any other technology, because it still favors the rich. ^hmmmmmmm^

sadly this is what has happened to this technology lately. and it is mostly because bitcoin is littered with politics, and people who want to take control of it and also many who want to make more money from it.

That's why Dogecoin was invented.  I'm okay with Bitcoin being for the rich and famous  Roll Eyes

i doubt there are many bitcoin users like you!
