3881  Economy / Speculation / Re: HODLer Report from the Trenches on: February 20, 2018, 08:57:29 PM
Shorters are probably going to get blown out of their positions soon.

Resistance at $11k is probably less powerful than expected, and we are well above that level right now. Next target is $12k, we're only a few hundred $ from that figure on most of the USD based exchanges.

When people thought that BTC would go down even further when it was already just $6-7k, and they shorted it, they are paying the price. This last dump is an example of why you should never panic sell and continue to hold on for the long term, especially if your investment's in a loss.
3882  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Antminer-buy.com is a scam site on: February 20, 2018, 08:51:55 PM
Antminer-buy.com is a scam
Anything linked to Tizen Hardware is associated with this website also.

They come out looking good, they call you, confirm order. Few days later you get a tracking number that works on a legit tracking website.
Then a week goes by with it sitting in a China and you get this reply when you inquire

“Dear Valued Client,
Greetings from Tizen Hardware!!

This is inform you that your product was hold by custom department , so there would be one time custom clearance fee for 473 USD which you have to pay for the clearance of your product

Based on my experience, if anything is held by the customs department then it's not going to be the sending company telling you to pay for it. The shipping company will contact you by phone and invoice you instead.

If they ask you for any clearance fees they're probably just trying to screw you out of some more money before they ignore all your messages.

All those sites selling miners recently have been scamming a lot of people. None of them have turned out to be legit so far, so it's probably best to avoid these sellers altogether and buy from an official source instead.
3883  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC rich 14K$ till this Sunday? on: February 19, 2018, 05:13:35 AM
As you know BTC rise from 6K to 10K for two-weeks. History shows that after such a two-week gradual ascent follow an uncontrolled pump which could to raise the price exactly as much as it was in last two weeks in percentage. And I have a question: Should we expected the great rise of BTC (to 14K$) this Sunday 18.02.18?

No. Not even next week.

The reason is because we have never seen a pump that takes bitcoin to 40% profits in just a few days. And plus, we're still consolidating at the $10k level so that it becomes a stable floor for price volatility to build on.

With Sunday coming to an end in the cities in US, the prices have actually fallen a bit, around 2% from yesterday.

I believe that this trend isn't going to last long. Won't be long before the $11k is tested and hopefully broken, and markets go deep into fomo.
3884  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: v1ljar is a scammer (Amazon cards and all kind of gift cards) on: February 19, 2018, 05:07:10 AM
This is his profile https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=378715

This is his thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2751042.msg30539476#msg30539476 , for some reason I can't post there., the topic is locked.

This is his skype: curexineurope

He scammed me of $1,000 in amazon cards. He hasn't logged for a week here and now he started to up his scam thread.

He sent the BTC for one card and after I sent him 2 cards he sent no BTC and got offline. Haven't heard back for him for over a week. Contacted him on skype and here but he didn't answer. Today he started to post on his thread.

Do not deal with him! He will scam you!

Nobody seems to have done anything to neg this person, yet.

This is a warning to others, even if you're dealing with gift cards odesn't mean that you can get away with not using escrow. OP's example is a good one, if you're offering up legit gift cards, and they get redeemed, the process of recovering the gift cards will be long and in the end, the scammer probably has alerady spent your gift cards.

Almost all of the locked threads with only the OP spamming his bumps, are going to be scams. They should all be negged for doing this.

I have seen a few scam threads locked and all I could do was report it to the moderators.

Do the moderators actually do anything ? as they usually ignore reports about scammers.

Moderators don't deal with scam reports. That's up to DT members to give out negative trust to warn people. But deleting scam threads could be possible.
3885  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Hit $20K in few weeks time? on: February 19, 2018, 04:55:17 AM
Do we expect Bitcoin to have a big comeback after its downfall on January and early Feb?
Coz many expected it Will hit $20K when New Year was coming last year, but as we witnessed, it disappointed many hodlers and unestors with its unfaithful fall, but now we see this bouncing back, and hopefully it Will continue to do so.

I expect the prices to go up at least 40-50% from what it is from right now. The crash took around 60-70% of the value of bitcoin at its peak at the worst spot in the trough, and whenever that happens BTC seems to bounce back to at least 70% of its ATH value. Most of the time, we even go onto a price hike and break the ATH.

Right now, we're only around 55%.

Conservatively speaking, expect at least $13k per BTC in USD in March or April which is generally much better performing than the months of January, when we saw the big crash that happened. The recovery can be a bit bumpy so expect corrections here and there as well.
3886  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could this year's Bitcoin exceed its maximum of US$ 20,000? on: February 19, 2018, 04:43:24 AM
There are many investors who ask us daily if it is psoible that the Bitcoin flies to its maximum of US$ 20,000, or even a little more.

Looking at the graph below gives the expectation that a new bullish cycle will start.

https://criptotendencia.com/cotizacion-bitcoin-online/

What do you think?
It is possible. But impossible to tell from right now.

Given the right circumstances, so if no more negative press coverage about bitcoin, everything that comes out of the media is positive, and there are some major players in a range of industries that start supporting bitcoin this year, then an all time high is for sure.

However, as I've said before, I do think that markets aren't as bullish this year as last year, and we're probably reaching a peak for this cycle. More likely to get a big pump when the next halving cycle comes around.
3887  Economy / Speculation / Re: Debunking the "anyone can make a crypto" argument against Bitcoin on: February 19, 2018, 04:37:35 AM
People need to start realising that the value of cryptos are backed by the community.

In a sense, bitcoin is just like gold, digitised. Because it is decentralized, people see that it is a store of value since no one single person can manipulate its supply, just like gold. And they trust bitcoin because it's the first and most well known crypto out there.

That's where the value of gold and crypto alike comes from - trust from the community.

I find it absurd that people say BTC's intrinsic value is $20, and that anyone can make more and more cryptos... No it doesn't work like that. You need a community behind your coin for the value to go up.
3888  Economy / Speculation / Re: Llew Claseen says BTC will hit 40,000 Dollar by the end 2018. on: February 19, 2018, 04:27:30 AM
Bitcoin Foundation’s Llew Claasen Says Bitcoin Will Hit $40,000, 90% Of Altcoins Will Fail.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-foundations-llew-claasen-says-bitcoin-will-hit-40000-90-of-altcoins-will-fail

Hmm! it is a bitter prediction after the dip (losses) or a better prediction which need to ponder?
For me, seems Llew Claseen needs a quick revenue after a huge losses.

I agree with Claseen that 90% of altcoins are going to fail. That's just the fact at the moment. A lot of alts are hyped up for no apparent reason and just because investors want another way of putting away their money and speculating on something.

The $40k prediction probably won't come true, however.

Prices are going up, but the market's definitely not as bullish compared to last year. The maximum we're going to see is most likely in the $20k-30k region, and that's going to be very optimistic from even a long term bull.
3889  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cryptopia Scam - deposits from other exchanges on: February 18, 2018, 08:06:05 AM
for the last few days cryptopia has been accepting deposits from other exchanges but not crediting the transactions..

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/3396?postId=46080
As you can clearly see blockchain transaction was successful but cryptopia does not credit the amount. Many people complaining about the same experience with no feedback from support.

Beware and get your money out of Cryptopia before they implode.

That's just stupid.

Coinbase is considered to be a wallet of first choice for many newbies. So when it says in the disclaimer that it does not accept any deposits from exchanges, people don't think of coinbase straightaway since they think that it's a wallet.

Not just deposits it seems, but also withdrawals being delayed.

Support is not doing anything about both of these cases. Disappointing for sure.
3890  Economy / Speculation / Re: still at level 50/50 on: February 18, 2018, 07:52:16 AM
We have seen price charts rise slowly, btc prices around $ 10,500. Everyone knows that this price will increase again because it has become a hot potato.
By 2018 this will be a 50/50 situation that tends to go up and maybe yesterday it happened again. what do you think of this? are your thoughts the same as I think btc will rise to $ 20,000 in March? Experts say that 2018 there will still be an unexpected drop down.

There are a lot of optimistic investors in the market at the moment. So it's probably a bit more than 50/50 in favor to the bull side.

But it doesn't mean that it's guaranteed to go up. There could be a continuation of the last dump and bitcoin going down through $10k again. We don't know if that's going to happen, though it seems unlikely to me at least based on my experience.

I can't really foresee even in the best case scenario bitcoin going up to $20k next month, so i'd have to disagree with you on that. We're not going to see pumps as quick as last year in 2018, imo.
3891  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoins' pullback is over! on: February 18, 2018, 07:43:37 AM
After the craziest and the most desirous wave that took place when the value went above $20k, we experienced the most awaited and whacking collapse watching it drowning under $7k. It was worst, but had a hope that nothing could go nuts and that we'll see those days when it'll start gaining back once again after fighting the denials of Governments. I believe now is the time. It has gained back more than 50% in a few days and I'm hearing that it'll be more than $25k till mid July.
I think it's the best time to invest in Bitcoins (if you see it as a safe-haven asset and are interested in much better gains than keeping your money in banks). I won't ask you to put too much, but for an average person - I believe that $500 shouldn't be a big deal to invest as the risk-to-reward ratio here will be much higher compared to other assets available.

Bottom was in January, a lot of people tthought that the price was going to go down even further, but obviously they've been proven wrong. Primary reason apparently is because of government bans, which doesn't really make sense since BTC is independent from governments in the first place.

Anyways, I think that we are ready for this pump to continue. A new wave of people just got educated about the importance of holding through a dip and that means that we'll have a lot more support at the $10k issue.

I'm not sure about it going to $25k by July, though. That's a bold prediction.
3892  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Preliminary Scam Accusation against Cryptopia for holding customers funds on: February 18, 2018, 07:33:23 AM
It's been two months now without any solution found to the GBYTE wallet issue.
Holding customers funds indefinitely without any communication or a timeframe offered at all it's not good.
Next Byteball distribution is in March and we would expect this to gets solved before then.
Hopefully this scam accusation here on BitcoinTalk will remind you to fix the issue.

Thanks

Not only byteball it seems but there is withdrawal issues with bitcoin as well. I just saw multiple threads open up about all kind of withdrawal issues.

I have no idea why cryptopia has gone downhill so fast. They used to be one of the decent small exchanges to exchange small cap altcoins with. But now, you can't even get your money out of their system which is absurd by any means.

In this case, at worst case scenario they have liquidity issues, at best they're still bad at communicating with their customers and probably don't give two damns about what happens to your byteball distribution. An exchange to avoid for sure.
3893  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hashflare wants invest $500 on: February 18, 2018, 07:07:38 AM
I wants to invest in hashflare around 500usd witch one is good for more profit able SCRYPT ,SHA-256, ETHEREUM ,ZCASH , DASH  please help me to cose good one

No good telling from right now, because it all depends on whether an altcoin goes up in value or not.

As Slow Death said, the minimum withdrawal is sky high and if you do make your ROI back it will be some years before you can actually withdraw anything. Plus, since all contracts are 1 year now, you're probably not going to get ROI in the first place.

Do not forget how they increased minimum withdrawal and decreased length of mining a few months ago.

It means that they do not care about their customers, and is a cloud mining site to avoid at all costs. Choosing the algo to mine is only going to prevent you from losing more money.
3894  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptopia BTC withdrawal stucked at Processing.. on: February 18, 2018, 06:55:23 AM
Ah, thanks for the update, I had a small withdrawal just waiting for processing, wasn't too worried about it at all so didn't bother checking back but "good" to see that issue isn't just for me. Lay off the support, it'll just delay everything else for everyone else. Keep calm and go to sleep, this should work out over the next days. Guess everyone's trying to take advantage of the recovering market and trading elsewhere?

What's hurting though is that everyone seems to be having issues with cryptopia with several people on the forums calling them out as a fraud. And it's not an isolated incident either, a lot of others are having the same issues.

Though it's true that you're probably not going to get anywhere doing anything else other than waiting.

Don't think that this has got to do with the bitcoin price at all. Just cryptopia either being insolvent, or having technical difficulties. Either way it's not looking good for this particular exchange.
3895  Economy / Lending / Re: In urgent need of .05 btc on: February 18, 2018, 06:38:45 AM
Can anyone please lend me .05 btc please. If you need collaterals ask me what type it is i cause i donot know what it actually is?I can repay you in 2 months time with interest.I have a bike and a laptop if you accept them as collateral.

As a lender, I can tell you that nobody is going to fill your request.

If you have observed the lending section in the slightest you would have seen that these days, lender either give out no collateral loans to people that they've done business before and has trust, or to people who have valid collateral such as altcoins. IN fact I haven't seen any loan being made in the past few months that have taken anything other than altcoins as collateral.

Reason is, lender can't liquidate your laptop and your bike quickly and the shipment for sending the collateral back and forth will result in massive fees. Plus, most lenders here would not be willing to reveal their address to you just for this purpose.

I suggest you getting a short term loan from one of the small loan companies locally.
3896  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: LocalBitcoins.com: New wave of scams! Steps to protect yourself (digital trades) on: February 18, 2018, 04:52:33 AM
-snip-

There are going to be a ton of risks for the seller.

Your offer can be picked up by anyone. And yes you can sell outside of the US if you've got a US bank account that you want the users to deposit to. I would suggest ticking all the boxes where it says the buyer must be ID verified, or has a trust level of at least 99% or something like that.

Usually, cash deposits are irreversible. At least in my country, I've never seen anyone do this scam and I've been around on LBC for a while doing casual trades. It's a huge generalisation to say that everyone who pay above 5% premium will be a scammer. If you're looking to sell, offer a fair premium like 3-5%, alongside with some filters for trust, and make sure that the payment you're accepting is mostly irreversible then you should be alright. Plenty of people who want the convenience over the rates that are willing to pay 5%+ and are legit as well.

3898  Economy / Speculation / Re: Any predictions for next few days on: February 17, 2018, 08:58:06 AM
Here's my predictions.  Bitcoin will settle around 8-8.5k over the weekend.     But it's all guess work.

Nup... That's probably not going to happen at the moment.

I can see bitcoin hovering around the current mark. $10000-11000, around that level. There isn't going to be a whole lot of activity over the weekends because we're still trying to consolidate the $10k floor at the moment.

Next week will be interesting, as Chinese New Year celebrations come to a close.

I expect prices to gradually shift upwards in periods, expect due corrections along the way, it's not going to be a smooth growth curve. But probably not that much action over the weekends for the week.
3899  Economy / Speculation / Re: Vizualizing All Horific Bitcoin crahes on: February 17, 2018, 08:42:36 AM
Corrections come and go. They don't stay forever.

It's just like the boom and bust cycles in the economy. Sort of a similar thing. When people into buying bitcoin are optimistic then prices will go up, and when people that are into bitcoin is pessimistic, then they sell. Of course, there are outside influences such as news and government as well.

But still, these corrections don't last forever and usually, bitcoin bounces back higher.

These horrific bitcoin crashes aren't really horrific when you put them into a historical contest. This correction from $20k to $6k is no exception either.
3900  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will there be bitcoin $ 20,000? on: February 17, 2018, 06:29:50 AM
Guys, do you think this price will be still relevant this year? Huh Smiley

Why wouldn't it be relevant?

It's basically the major resistance that brought bitcoin down to less than $10k last time. Based on this recovery I think we're going to go near that figure this year once again and potentially challenge the old all time high.

How it's going to go though is unknown. It's way too early to tell at the moment. So there are no guarantees to if $20k will actually hit. We're on a pretty bullish trend right now and the run-up could take us to around $15k or so before a correction. After that correction, if the trend stays bullish, then we'll have a real shot at $20k.
