welcome to the forum! MB x1: ASRock-Z270-Pro4 GPU x3: Nvidia 1080 GTX TI
my thoughts are to try to finish the first rig with 6x nvidia 1080 gtx ti
that motherboard only has 2 16x pcie slots. you would need a usb riser for the 3rd initial card. also it only has 3 pcie x1 slots so 5 cards would be your total later (3 on risers in the x1 slots, 2 on the mobo in the 16x slots) not sure where you can order risers where you are but someone else should provide links to what i mean shortly. other than that i have no other useful comments, sorry.

Guys, windows detected rundas.b in this miner last friday. Anyone else have this problem?
all my miners are under a "_miners" folder. add that to your av exclusion list. i also added my "downloads" folder to that list.

flashing is pretty easy and safe when only doing memory straps. use a test bench computer (one card at a time), use a UPS, dont use someone elses bios. do your own card, back up the original bios giving it a full name (card manufacturer, model, mem amount and type. serial number) and back that original up several places. then just flash the memory straps. with eth you can gain 20% easy, at least on some amds
even if you brick a card you can (usually) blind flash it back, or use a good card to boot with the bricked card in the system (use an old pci card or cpu with igp) and flash it back.
of course this assumes the bricked card is still recognized in the system. im sure, depending on how bad the card is bricked, that doesnt always happen, thats why i only mess with straps.

I would be curious to see how a case like the Thermaltake Supressor would do in regards to noise reduction. If you had 3 blower style GPUs with a space between them, and good quality case fans, I think the cooling aspect would be good. You would probably want to leave the front door open for best airflow. It's a reasonable price ($95) for a full atx tower with sound reduction built in. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16811133279my nxzt h2 is a "silent" case, also with a front door and sound deadening panels. they do reduce sound but not by much. please dont think they will solve all your noise problems.

i have a single sapphire nitro r9 390 triple fan in my daily driver, its in a nzxt h2 case. 2 120 front, 1 120 bottom, dual stacked 120s rear (corsair h75 aio) and a 140 top. at night when i let the 390 go full tilt dual mining eth/dcr, the card is fine at 65% fan at 65*C but the case fans ramp something crazy. very noisy.only run it full tilt at night. daytime i set the powerlimit at -40% so its pretty quiet,
figure one 300 watt 390 is about the same at 2 470s or 480s. have fun.

You say you won't give your private keys, but the government can throw you in jail and torture you. Also I expect by 2024 or so, the elite will have control over the mining and can blacklist addresses they want to.
ok so my underpowered brain gets maybe 0.05% of this. but why would some addresses be blacklisted? by the government? what propose would it serve? to move btc holdings to altcoins?

Add the folder where you keep all your mining SW to Windows Defender exclusion list (in my case I keep desktop in exclusion). Problem solved.
all my miners go under a "_miners" folder and i add that folder, plus my downloads folder, to the avast ignore list. havent has an over paranoid antivirus delete it yet.

Does anyone know if there's a reason for my GPU's not being fully utilized when mining? ... Any idea why the cards don't mine at full clock, but close to max if undervolted - even though they get enough power?
they are probably hitting their power limit.

When you deposit money in the bank, it does not become the bank's money. You retain ownership and the bank must return it to you on demand. Having custody of something is not the same as owning it. The bank has custody of your money, they do not own it.

I had the hashrate drop for the gpu connected to the monitor/dummy plug with 470's also. I had to mod my driver to run completely headless for the hashrate drop to go away (If you want to ask how try asking google).
I can confirm. I have 6 rigs and one GPU connected to the monitor drops the hash rate and hangs often when using 9.0. Using ASM=0 - no issues. sounds like what i have, the 470 connected to the kvm gets ~10% lower hashrate. 26 mhs vs the other 470 at 29.x mhs. . asm is on, and -dcri is 30 on both cards. both ran the same on 8.1 only difference in the 470s is the memory, one samsung, one hynix. both are strap modded. i am dual mining dcr if that makes any difference os is windows 7

well if it were nash it would certainly solve the "problem" of the satoshi mined million coins suddenly being sold and crashing the price of bitcoin.
but as someone else pointed out (sorry forgot who) wouldnt nash known of that potential problem and publicly burned the coins as they were mined. xfer then to an unspendable address or something. i mean if perfect money were the intent it shouldnt have the risk of a price crash built into it.
its as if satoshi didnt realize how important bitcoin would become. nash would of.

thanks for the explanations, i wasnt sure how asicboost was/is/could be implemented, and if it would suddenly doorstop a bunch of hardware. sounds like bitmain stuff will work either way, just with a 20% boost with proper firmware.
