Interesting that none of these individuals are being called as witnesses. I wonder why?

All the so-called witnesses suddenly fall ill during the trial, which is also the case with uncle Lynam son who was supposed to testify. Speaking of witnesses, do we know if anyone will testify in favor of Hodlonaut?

With the current state of technology a rocket carrying astronauts to mars would take around 5 years. During which time astronauts in zero gravity would lose more than half of the bone density they had when they left earth.

5 years to Mars? You are obviously basing your assumption on some outdated data, because if NASA is to be believed, the journey to Mars takes 7 months under optimal conditions.

The trip to Mars will take about seven months and about 300 million miles (480 million kilometers)...The mission is timed for launch when Earth and Mars are in good positions relative to each other for landing on Mars. That is, it takes less power to travel to Mars at this time, compared to other times when Earth and Mars are in different positions in their orbits. As Earth and Mars orbit the Sun at different speeds and distances, once about every 26 months, they are aligned in a way that allows the most energy-efficient trip to Mars.

Besides, this topic has almost nothing to do with the Bitcoin discussion...
3923  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin is already in the future, i've been hiding for too long on: September 13, 2022, 10:24:07 AM
I sold bitcoin last 2018 when it fell by almost $10,000/coin it made me fall.

For consolation, you are not the only one who sold it then, the only question is, did you do it fast enough so as not to be at a loss? The same thing is happening today because people are disappointed that Bitcoin did not reach the price of $100 000, and now they are waiting for some new opportunity in the hope that the price will go down even more.

What is important is that people learn something from their past actions and not repeat the same mistakes, and if you think you made a mistake in 2018, then you have a new chance to correct it today. It's never too late for a new start, and if you look historically, Bitcoin has always been a very profitable investment - although only for those who understand what they're actually investing in.
3924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trying to find some coins from late 2008 or early 2009 on: September 13, 2022, 09:58:41 AM
That period! You say that like it was 100 years ago. It may be a shot in the dark but IF one of them happens to sit on the bowl and check the main bitcoin forum out then its a shot ill take. I have no idea who is on this forum at all. If i hear nothing then i know im getting the finger. They kept up the satoshi thing for a while i see lmao.

You are not the first case to look for your lost treasure, and I am only telling you from the experience of someone who started following this forum back in 2014. Even if there is someone who will read your post and that someone recognizes what you are talking about, do you think it is realistic to get back something that you paid $10 for, and today is worth hundreds of thousands of $?

You can hope, no one is preventing you from looking for answers to the questions you have, but in that case you should expand your search much wider than this forum. If these people are gamers, then maybe they are active on some forum that specializes in that kind of thing.
3925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trying to find some coins from late 2008 or early 2009 on: September 12, 2022, 03:08:34 PM
I hope the so called EARLY FOUNDERS read this and maybe things will click in. Not trying to take anyone for a ride here just seeing if they read this and can remember the site we used, could have some damn coin. That's it. Thank you for trying to tell me i have dementia or a case of old timers but no! I know what went down and they do to.

You are new to the forum, so you are not to be blamed for thinking that way - but how many people from that period do you think are active on the forum? There are a few people from 2010, and a few more from 2011, but most of the active people on the forum are those who were not aware that Bitcoin existed in 2009 or 2010. The chance that these early adopters read the forum is therefore very very small.

Maybe you recognize someone by their nickname or a new light turns on for you -> https://bpip.org/
3926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are all Hodlonaut on: September 12, 2022, 02:46:48 PM
Lol. We are still on Hodlonaut's opening statement and already CSW has started his shenanigans.

How many times will the Faketoshi team mention GA and his support when he was convinced that CW was Satoshi? I will never stop being amazed at how a (for the most part) brilliant mind like Gavin Andresen turned out to be a big fool for supporting him at one time, although I will always find it very strange that Satoshi collaborated with him at all and left him with too much influence.

Let the judge take this into account and compensate the mental pain of our doctor Faketoshi with, say, 1 satoshi for each disputed tweet - that is more than fair considering the past verdict - in 10 years, Faketoshi will collect enough for a whole box of chocolates Cheesy
3927  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC’s Gensler Supports Commodities Regulator Having Bitcoin Oversight on: September 12, 2022, 02:08:24 PM
~snip~
I do not think that much will happen during this year, but if we reach 5 trillion in the near time, I think that regulation will inevitably come.

I am of the opinion that for the authorities and the law, this area is still perceived as quite harmless, at least if we take that famous market cap as the main criterion. We know that this measure is something that is completely manipulative when talking about the total market cap, but Bitcoin at $100k would amount to about $2 trillion, with at least that much more for all altcoins.

The more money there is in that game, the more interest there will be in regulating it - and until then, they will let the little baby play its carefree game (I refer to Brad Sherman's statement in Libra case "Bitcoin is a small baby here").
3928  Economy / Economics / Re: 'We don’t have enough' lithium globally to meet EV targets, mining CEO says on: September 12, 2022, 01:16:51 PM
According to this data --> With 8 million tons, Chile has the world’s largest known lithium reserves.

8 million tons is very little if you believe that in just one country there are as many as 200 million tons - and it is not China or Australia, but Serbia. This is one of the reasons why the EU wants that country to join the EU as soon as possible, but also the reason why the US in every possible way wants to have as much influence as possible in that country, which stands out especially through military cooperation (arms donations).

Unfortunately for the local dictator and general ruler, things did not develop in the desired direction, because the people who live there do not want lithium mines in their backyard.

It is estimated that there are 200 million tons of lithium borate ore in the valley, which would make it one of the world’s largest lithium deposits, supplying 10 per cent of global demand.
3929  Other / Archival / Re: Mods are constantly trying to put the thread in the altcoin section on: September 12, 2022, 12:45:43 PM
Great thread, by the way.  It's from last year, but I've never seen it and it looks like a fantastic guide for anyone who's new to crypto and isn't aware of how scammy the entire space can be.  Definitely belongs in B&H for good and for all, eh mods?

You are mistaken, it is not about the thread that the OP quoted, but about the one behind the hyperlink, which dates from September 6, 2022 - what you are referring to is something completely different, and the OP just wanted to make a comparison that has obviously confused some people like you.
3930  Economy / Economics / Re: Energy FUD!!! on: September 12, 2022, 10:42:05 AM
I'm guessing that Sweden has enough fuel to make it through the winter?

Let's put it this way, Sweden, unlike most countries in Europe, long ago started a process in which it will become less and less dependent on gas or oil, and today it gets most of its energy from nuclear plants, hydro sources and biofuels and waste. Although oil still makes up a certain percentage of total consumption, gas is something that Sweden does not have to worry too much about. I think it will be much clearer if you look at the following infographic.

3931  Other / Archival / Re: Mods are constantly trying to put the thread in the altcoin section on: September 12, 2022, 10:19:54 AM
Such topics can be placed on different boards, so although in this case, B&H can serve the purpose of warning beginners about how easily they can be scammed through social networks, it would not be wrong if that topic is also on the Scam board. We can only find out why mods think that Altcoins is the appropriate board for this topic if one of them answers that question.

Not that long ago, nutildah got a temporary ban for moving his thread back in the original location where the mods didn't want it. He has left the forum since and hasn't returned yet. You might want to be careful if you insist moving it back too many times.

I don't know how you haven't noticed, but @nutildah is back and has been active for a while.
3932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trying to find some coins from late 2008 or early 2009 on: September 12, 2022, 09:52:58 AM
The OP reminds me of a story that I also read on the forum some time ago, where the user claims that he had some kind of wallet in 2009 (and maybe even earlier). In this particular case, it is still a matter of confusion because in 2009 there were no BTC wallets with seed words.

What I want to say is that people can very easily get confused and be convinced that something happened to them in a specific year, but the story presented to us by the OP is proof that it is very easy to get confused. In addition, looking for a website from that era makes no sense, and having a file that could be connected to a Bitcoin wallet is a completely different story.
3933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some Limitations of Bitcointalk Members from Developing Countries on: September 12, 2022, 09:27:26 AM
The problem is that most power banks have too small voltage to be used for laptops. Most are designed for phones and tablets. Those which you talk about are a rarity around stores here.

That's why I emphasized that these are special power banks that have a larger capacity, and as far as I can see, you can get them online for a price even lower than $100 (20 000mAh). For example only ->Linearflux Hypercharger Max USB-C Portable Charger

Starlink can technically operate worldwide, even from deserts and mountans, but telecommunications treaties force it to restrict its coverage to just those whitelisted countries.

Nigeria is on the list of countries that are on that list and according to the official Starlink website, the service should become available in Q3 2022. Starlink has also received all necessary permits from the Nigerian authorities and will be available throughout the country. In addition, one user in the community can buy such internet and then share it wirelessly with neighbors/friends and thus reduce subscription costs.

As part of its African expansion plan, Starlink began exploring the Nigerian telecom market in May 2021. It also targeted South Africa and Zimbabwe, among other markets. It was awarded two licenses by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) a year later. Also, the company received a 10-year international gateway license and a five-year Internet Service Provider (ISP) license. Through the official launch of its operations in Nigeria, Starlink will provide broadband access to every Nigerian, including those living in remote and landlocked areas.

-Epileptic power supply: In my location there is electric power but its supply is unpredictable.--- Solar energy might be cool but are there other options?

The only alternative that comes to mind at the moment is to get yourself a power bank, which you will then charge when there is electricity and use it when you need it. Of course, I am not referring to power banks that are usually used for mobile phones and smaller devices, but to serious devices that have a capacity of up to 50 000mAh.

Poor Internet Supply: Sometimes due to work and family responsibilities, I use to prepare a work plan for the day.

This is something that can only be changed with a better internet infrastructure in your country, or if you write to Musk and ask him to donate one of his devices for satellite internet for your community - it sounds strange, but you have nothing to lose if you try - or collect money together and buy satellite internet -> Starlink Nigeria

High Crime Rate: Most developing nations are ravaged by a high rate of crime and insecurity. Like in my locality there is a high rate of snatching of phones and other technological gadgets.

Thieves always choose easier targets first, and if they know you have some type of protection (alarm, surveillance cameras, weapons) they won't just attack you. It's also wise to always keep a low profile, don't talk about having Bitcoin and brag about your new phone or laptop.

Unexposed and corrupt law enforcement agencies

Corruption and crime are nothing that does not exist anywhere in the world - and the best fight against it is not to vote for corrupt politicians in elections, and to report every attempt at blackmail and criminal acts, regardless of whether it comes from the police. Of course, the problem is when everyone is corrupt, but there is always someone honest, you just have to find them.

High Rate of Unemployment: I have observed that the majority of members from developed nations have other sources of income apart from the forum. They can be able to afford the cost of data and other necessary gadgets that would make them very productive to the forum. But in most developing nation’s majority of the population are either unemployed or underemployed. Sometimes members of these growing economies might not have the financial backing to even subscribe to a data plan making them less productive.

The forum should not be a place for making money, it should only be something that comes as an additional thing in the process of information exchange and discussion. I agree that without the Internet and a good computer you can hardly be more active on the forum, but unlike some spammers who are very productive, their number of posts does not mean much if compared to someone who writes only 3 meaningful and quality posts a day. Quality always before quantity Wink

Is it true that MicroStrategy raised up to $500 million to buy more Bitcoins this year? because on the one hand I would be very happy if it could actually happen within this year at MicroStrategy. Because if it can actually happen in the near future, then the increase in Bitcoin will also continue to occur until the end of this year, but I can't say for sure whether it will happen or not.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5268108.msg60919051#msg60919051

If you read their statement, you will see that this amount is not mentioned only in the context of investing in Bitcoin, but "for general corporate purposes", and if we read between the lines, it seems to me personally that the greater part of the investment will go to some less risky investments which should ensure positive financial results in the short term.

In addition, MicroStrategy is not the company that caused some significant movements in the price of Bitcoin with its moves - it is not Mr. Mars and his Twitter machinery of 100+ million followers.
3936  Economy / Economics / Re: Which fiat money are you holding right now in case of emergency needs? on: September 11, 2022, 11:11:39 AM
What are your plans? I want to get an answer, especially from Europeans cause we all lost 12% of our money in a matter of days.

From everything you mentioned, Bitcoin seems to be the best option for me, not only because the Euro is weakening and losing its purchasing value, but because I trust the decentralized system more than the institution called the ECB (European Central Bank). Given that my country is not yet in the Eurozone, I always have a certain amount of local currency that I need for everyday life, but luckily I can buy a lot directly for Bitcoin.

If I had to choose something else, perhaps the choice would be the Swiss franc for the reason that Switzerland has always been and probably will be neutral regardless of what happened in Europe. Of course, gold is always an option, in case everything goes to hell we will return to the time when it was a universal way of payment anywhere in the world.

With all the time Ledger can spend integrating debit cards and instant exchangers and other privacy invading trash in to Ledger Live, you would think they could just set up their own instance of BTCPay or similar.

Maybe they would do that if they understood how important the privacy and security of their clients is. The way they tried to minimize the damage they caused to their clients when the database was hacked perhaps best shows that such things are not very important to them. Although, considering that some EU politicians and bureaucrats have visions of even stricter regulation when it comes to cryptocurrencies, I would not be surprised if Ledger and similar companies start demanding strict KYC for every customer.

A few days ago, I read that an online casino is asking for verification in such a way that the user has to take a selfie with a newspaper in his hands, in front of a sign with the name of his street and house number... Roll Eyes
3938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Twitter Criticize Apompliano for removing laser eyes on: September 11, 2022, 10:06:44 AM
I sometimes get surprised how much people care about opinions on Twitter.

It's not just Twitter, just look at what's happening on YouTube or FB or Telegram... Some have made a real business out of it without even having to leave their house/apartment. Although there are those who sincerely share their knowledge and do not try to sell fake stories and sensations, most of them not only do not know what they are talking about, but quite consciously promote crypto projects that are doomed from the start.

I think that in this whole story, Bitcoin was certainly used the most as bait for the masses, and perhaps the most obvious example was that of the late John McAfee, who first attracted people with his statement that 1 BTC would be worth $1 million, and then he used his Twitter account to promote various altcoins.

However, some people are more influential than others, such as Saylor, who has about 130 000 BTC and only 2.6 million followers on Twitter, while the famous Mr. Mars has over 105 million followers, and before he got into the whole story with Bitcoin, he had only about 40 million or even less.
3939  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Do Hardware wallet Manufacturers Ship to PO Boxes or Not? on: September 10, 2022, 02:49:13 PM
Ledger use BitPay? Ugh. Imagine completing BitPay's KYC requirements to buy a hardware wallet. What a ridiculous security risk.

I don't remember it being necessary before and I haven't really used that processor for a long time - but if every customer has to do KYC just to make a payment in Bitcoin then that's just another added risk in potentially compromising the privacy of anyone buying HW.

In a way, this makes every purchase that would be made through a PO box somewhat pointless, because even though Ledger does not know our data, the payment processor can always be hacked, and then the only question is which data will leak. The only safe way of shopping left is to find a physical store, put on a cap and a protective mask and pay with cash, preferably outside the place of residence.
3940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Twitter Criticize Apompliano for removing laser eyes on: September 10, 2022, 02:10:03 PM
Why would anyone even care what someone thinks about Bitcoin or because they changed their profile picture on a social network? People who base their investments on what some influencer will say will really not do well in life. Who knows, maybe Pompi was afraid that Faketoshi would sue him next, because he obviously had his eye on famous people from Twitter.

In my opinion, some influencers like Apompliano know little about bitcoin.

I think you are wrong, he knows a lot about Bitcoin, much more than some others who present themselves as great experts. Maybe the man just got tired of everything and decided to dedicate himself to something else, and that doesn't mean that overnight he became someone who needs to be attacked because he no longer has laser eyes...
