I wonder if he had better luck than the guys on Tested (the youtube channel that just uploaded that video where they get their money stuck on the machine and can't withdraw)

If you're talking about the same guys I was thinking of, they were morons who didn't bother paying the transaction fee on their Bitcoin wallet so they could transfer everything fast so like other people who do this they're probably going to get their money in several decades. Just from the way they were talking it was obvious they had done fuck all research before actually checking things out before hand and they also picked what I'd call one of the worse Bitcoin ATMs out there, there are way simpler ones than the stupid RoboCoin machines.
3942  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does it seem like things are getting progressively worse? on: August 08, 2014, 08:26:12 AM
fonzie is right, nothing has changed, the only difference between back then and now is that we notice what is causing things to get so fucked up and that it's actually going on, I think I'm righting in saying given most of our age groups we had no idea what was going on in the real world a few years ago because we were too young to know any better.

Then I learned history and economics, now I feel very old, bitter and angry despite only being 24 >_<

I remember seeing on a chat room about how happy a guy claiming to be a stock broker/trader was that he could finally trade on weekends lol Tongue

Fuck it, I'm moving out of the country for good now, I know you guys outside of the UK won't know much about George Osborne but this guy knows even less about the economy than Paul Krugman, the fact that he's wanting to put VAT on Bitcoins means he's going to tax UK Bitcoin users hard, in fact, I think the UK a probably going to see Bitcoin as a way of getting more tax income in general.

Banks are extremely well established here and have a strangehold on everything financial, so they're going to do everything they can to control Bitcoin and make it unappealing for people to use.
3945  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dark Web is overrated, but I'm sure people on Bitcointalk already knew on: August 07, 2014, 09:00:37 AM
Honestly, you just load up tor browser and poke around the .onion addresses which people with normal browsers can't see, it really isn't that big of a deal I suspect unless you're actually doing something illegal then you won't end up on any list or get hacked since of course you've got the tor browser running to begin with. Again, it's just the media trying to scare the shit out of people and make things far worse than they actually are, I'm sure there are people using the private messaging services and email for shady stuff but it's not as bad as I was expecting.

I think I've actually seen worse stuff on the clearnet LOL! I can definitely see how the privacy minded web hosting would be good if you don't want people poking around your personal information though which is why you can find wikileaks there, I think I'll just stick with my fast connection and VPN's or Proxies, but it's going to be even easier to avoid this kind of thing with Bitcoin which doesn't force you to sign up with personal information if you customise the software on your website a bit.
3946  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Who's used Bitwasp? on: August 07, 2014, 08:50:49 AM
Oh right, I was under the impression it was the same sort of thing.

It would be great if you could but also one thing that is desperately needed on that piece of software is to make it way more user friendly with the installation, I did have a look at it and I've installed things like Ubercart before as well as other scripts but I could not understand shit. I can completely understand why it's so complicated right now though because it is pre-alpha practically so there's no rush or anything, I just think we need far more independent options for Bitcoin merchants because payment processors are just so unreliable right now and there are so many restrictive rules regarding them.

There's no rush at all though, it would just be something nice to do and hell, it would probably encourage way more merchants.
3947  Other / Off-topic / Dark Web is overrated, but I'm sure people on Bitcointalk already knew on: August 07, 2014, 08:46:31 AM
So for the first time I decided to have a proper poke around the Dark Web/Deep Web ( No I wasn't doing anything illegal before you get all jumpy and paranoid on me, I just got curious Tongue ) and boy was my Anarchist side disappointed! Sad "What?" you probably all are going when you read that but the typical media networks as usual have blown everything out of proportion trying to pretend that the Dark Net is some kind of real life crime net from Payday. Unless I'm missing more websites out there which I could well be, it's like going back to the faster dialup speeds you could get back when the year 2000 was coming along, I did spot some Anarchist groups which was pretty cool, some Anarcho-Syndicalists and Anarcho-Communists but the network is clearly way smaller than the clearnet, again, unless there are way more websites out there that I know of.

Yes, there are some bad guys out there, paedophile links which I stayed the hell away from, weapons markets, drugs markets but it basically seemed to be a bunch of people building up a network from scratch rather than anything properly established. I did notice that there were clearly discussions and plans going on about a new wireless internet that was in the works which looked interesting but that was about it.

Fucking media warping everyone's view of stuff yet again, they're doing a damn good job.

3950  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why I Support Mars Colonization on: August 06, 2014, 04:54:52 PM
I don't know about Mars colonisation personally I think the idea is ridiculous and expensive, moon possibly, because of the water that's been found there and how it's pretty close to earth in comparison, what we need to find is a planet that has breathable atmosphere, once we do that, particularly if we find an absolutely massive planet, we can spread our population out and resources won't be as scarce as they are now.

The trick is getting the hang of space flight.

3954  Economy / Service Discussion / Who's used Bitwasp? on: August 06, 2014, 10:41:41 AM
So I really wanted to create some kind of fairly permanent backup marketplace because Bitcoin payment processors are having so many problems with different countries and so on it's ridiculous and I started rage searching after getting very frustrated and finally found Bitwasp.

https://bitwasp.co/

Based off the old Silkroad code it seems perfect for what I want to do but has anyone here actually used it? The interface looks very simple and that's great but I want to know how well it will cope with digital downloads and so on, as someone building everything from scratch I'm already sick of the idea of my existence being reliant on third parties.

Say if I wanted to host the SCI on my website and sell a .pdf file would that be possible?
3955  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone here play League Of Legends? on: August 06, 2014, 08:53:32 AM
For you maybe Tongue trolololloolololol

On the surface it seems simple, but it is actually very complicated when you combine all the factors that go into winning a match. Runes, masteries, champions, summoner abilities, starting items, item builds, lane matchups and counters, team fights, ward control, dragon/baron objectives with timing/defense, taking down towers, ganks, jungle timers and ganking paths, ability combo's, roaming, farming cs vs kills vs defending objectives etc etc etc.

When discussing RTS' and RPG's I always like to refer people to this diagram I found which perfectly explains how I view these types of games.

http://thefuntimesguide.com/images/blogs/rockpaperscissors.jpg

The system itself is NOT complicated, developers have just made it so complicated they don't know how to balance it and never will, why do you think they come out with patches so often? If these games were balanced they wouldn't need to patch them constantly. RTS' and RPG's are just essentially a complicated game of rock/paper/scissors, which is why I don't like them, want to prove me wrong? Use mathematics, instead of foaming at the mouth like everyone I've talked to about this does who defends these games.

This is why modern FPS games feel so borked as well at times, it's because the developers have gone and made the damage systems etc. extremely complicated, this isn't much of an issue in singleplayer or co-op as you're just up against NPCs but it's a major one when you're playing a multiplayer game and want all players to be equal and for it to all be about skill.

3957  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is it a bad decision to payoff mortgage early on: August 06, 2014, 12:04:20 AM
Don't listen to those morons, they want you in debt so that when everything collapses they can take away your house, don't forget, even if you only technically owe a small amount on the mortgage, you've still put your house up as collateral and Thomas Jefferson warned central banks would come and start taking everyones homes and land through their systems. Hell, I even heard on the news once about how a bank ( I think it was RBS ( Royal Bank of Scotland ) ) went and deliberately fucked over businesses with bad advice etc. so that they could then buy them up for cheap.

Finish the mortgage, build up some savings and of course invest in some precious metals too to prepare for the inevitable hyperinflation, my parents seem to think this way and think that not paying off their mortgage would be a cheap option but I'm going to see if I can't convince them somehow that it isn't lol, they're old though and don't know any better.
3958  Other / Off-topic / Re: rapist must die on: August 05, 2014, 11:58:33 PM
I'd like these guys advocating the death penalty and to try living in a country in the middle east under Sharia Law for a month, I can guarantee you they'd either be dead or would be immediately begging to come back to the west again.
3959  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-05] Bloomberg: Bitcoin-Like Money Is Ecuador’s Latest Dollar-Saving Pla on: August 05, 2014, 11:11:58 PM
I'm going to enjoy seeing people fuck with this shitty coin, they've underestimated the internet for the last time, I wouldn't be surprised to see the European Union make a move like this soon enough as well, they'll probably hail it as the savior of the economy.
3960  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Dystopian reality: GameStop taking your fingerprints when trading used games on: August 05, 2014, 10:40:51 PM
This is insanity!
There is no real reasoning for it, any argument they give is flawed. Well done gamestop, way to alienate your market.

I stopped buying anything at UK games stores when they tried introducing age restrictions and asking people for ID's in order to buy things, I once got asked when I was 15 for an ID when I was buying a 15 rated game, haven't shopped at a game store since. Yeah, for something like Alcohol and Smoking I actually understand the logic behind that, but games? FUCK YOU! Thankfully the law was so ridiculous they decided to stop it, most likely because of the backlash it was about to cause.
