In which folder is are the wallet and blockchain located?

Appdata\Roaming or somewhere else?

The commands for wallet are tricky. When you paste the passwords you never see anything therefore you don't know if it was inputed or not. Should it be seen or not? I don't know if the password were accepted now.

The seed import when fine.

Also I was never asked for the wallet username, just the dcdr username.

can u tell me how u got the wallet to work

everyone is making fun but some of us are first year students and not phds  what do i do

45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: February 01, 2016, 12:08:18 PM
I see where you are going with this now, how you're trying to position Aeon (the other one of the mighty duo) and what you are trying to capture. Very compelling and ballsy vision. Now only the "inteligentsia" has to grab it.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: January 31, 2016, 01:05:42 PM
I like Anonymous E-cash or True Digital Cash better the term blockchain speaks mostly to those in this arena and many of them know that Aeon is untraceable already and if not they will find out soon after and at that point it's not better than True Digital Cash or Anonymous E-cash. True digital cash has a larger audience. Also the blockchain is tracable, I found it through this thread  Smiley

Apart from this if you're also looking for a slogan - none of these are slogans.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: January 29, 2016, 08:38:45 AM
Great work putting together a 'branding pack'.

I nominate two unofficial slogans based on approval in this topic:

"The Perfect Blockchain". (Go ahead and prove us wrong, Streisand effect).

and

"Tomorrow's money, today." (Actually quite accurate given as how Cryotonote remains the most advanced money tech on the planet, and Aeon is a more experiemntal Monero at this point.  It would be more accurate to say, 'the day after next Tuesday's money, today.")

I'll put together a slogan pack later including text files containing both of these slogans, and upload them to Dropbox.

You just willy-nilly decide that this is the best?

You did the same dick-tator move with the logo which turned out to not be the final version.

To me both sound corny and similar to what you said about TPTB's logo drafts.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: January 28, 2016, 07:17:23 PM
Are you looking for a slogan or just a tagline? Because it's not the same thing.

"Analysis Resistant"

"Money you can't follow"

"It won't show you the money"

"No Snooping!"

Cool! Smiley Except for 1. the first one which is a combo of two semi-boring semi-buzzwords.

2. "Money you can't follow." The original phrase is "Follow the money", so wouldn't it be better termed "You can't follow the (this) money." ?

3. "It won't show you the money." Like "Show me the money" (riches) from Jerry Maguire. Which is true but it also says that "It won't show (bring) you any riches."

4. Ok but slightly meh, because "No snooping" sounds more a command than anything.

How does a "flower" look like if you add 2 more ellipses?
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: January 22, 2016, 06:59:50 PM
No one is commenting but I'll say that I find this one the most eye appealing so far.

It almost looks (or could look) like it's going from invisible to visible (as it the case with optional anonimity in Aeon).

The prioritization of being able to type a Unicode symbol into a UTF-8 text document makes assumptions which might not hold true:

  • User doesn't have æ key on his keyboard and can't figure out how to search for the symbol on Google and copy+paste it.
  • The document format doesn't support Unicode correctly.
  • The renderer doesn't render the specific Unicode character.
  • The document is HTML so it could support an image or other CSS means of superimposing decoration on a glyph.
  • The symbol æ is intellectually confusing in some contexts, e.g. when not adjacent to a number which is a price in the context.

I would compare the tradeoffs of that prioritization to the ideas for a more aesthetically and less intellectually confusing symbol.

Some good points here.

To play devil's advocate I'd also add that popular usage of æ would most likely transmute simply to ae out of sheer laziness. This then poses the question: Do we really want the dual-letter ae to be the currency symbol...?

If not, then Æ may be a better choice. I would hazard a guess that Æ is less likely to decay to AE, than æ is to ae.

To me it seems very important if you can scribble the currency symbol quickly when you draw it by hand and when you write it next to a number.

And æ is a bit complicated. Not too much but it might be a slight hassle. Either you draw an 8 first and then a hook. Or you draw an a and e together. What i'm getting at is - it's not as easy as drawing a € or a $ sign.

8 and a hook. 8 and a hook. 8 and a hook. 8 and a hook. 8 and a hook. Try it on a paper! It gets easier and easier...

Æ looks easier but still not easy enough?

You should be able to not think about it and just do it with a few strokes.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: January 19, 2016, 08:44:52 AM
Ive just bought a Pine64 computer through kickstarter.
http://pine64.com/

This should be more powerful than a raspberry pi, and will be great to run a XEM node!

The issue is the RAM.

Ideally you need about 2GB. I've yet to see a PI that meets this requirements.

I've currently ran NIS on my PI successfully without too many hiccups, but the limiting factor is the RAM and i expect, as the blockchain grows, this will very quickly make my PI obsolete as it'll exhaust that 1GB quickly.

This is NOT a raspberry pi !
Ive just bought the 2GB model! Grin

I didnt think RAM was that big an issue anyway, since NIS on my PC does not consume anywhere near that much RAM, i didnt think it even needed to load the whole blockchain into memory does it?

Interesting! So you can't really use this for, let's say, staking 10 and more coins? (like NEM, NXT and a bunch of other bitcoin based altcoins...)

A cheap and low-power solution for staking would be great.

Just did this for brainstorming...

I prefer the second one and it has a nearly equivalent in unicode Æ. For my eye, thesecond one above looks more like a currency symbol than the unicode approximation.

The first one looks like a fork, plate and knife.

The second one would look better if the mid sections of A and E would connect imo.

Can we simply import wallets and .keys from the old Monero client into Hydrogen Helix?

On the subject of logos, here is my latest offering.

A better shade of blue coupled with a modern better graphic. Simple, universal and powerful.

This is the direction we should be headed.

I like it, probably the most out of current iterations.

But that's not to say there aren't even better versions out there (curvature, boldness, colours).

I find it funny how everyone is trying to impose their own version, because they really think "this is it".

Question is if they have more benefits using NEM chain or their own Mijin chain.

Tbh I like it, but there are nuances that can be different. What do the others think?

Can you also make one that where the

1. ae is a square instead of a rectangle
2. is not angled
3. the hook is just a cut flipped 8 (of the other whole 8 )
4. with silver/chrome background
5. it's slightly bigger inside of the circle

Basically what I hand-drew in the previous page.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: December 11, 2015, 07:40:19 PM

As far as the tapering, I feel it's necessary to preserve the yin-yang aspect and prevent the logo from degenerating into a typical logo.

I can see your point but I'm not totally sold that the untapered yin yang is really the better one. Maybe it could be more perfect it there's an even better curvature on the ends. Not sure. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but to me it's very debatable which one is better, the tapered or the untapered one.

Yin yang is pushing the limits and I don't know why a more conservative approach is worse.

All we know is we got to retain the ae, lose the gift bow tie association, maybe have a noticable 8, and the tapering is in question.

Do you want a prestigious logo or do you want an artistic mishmash of (too) many concepts?
