42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC Guild. Donation % set to 0, but still donating 2.5% on: June 09, 2011, 04:25:09 PM
In my account, I set the donation % to "0.00".
Under "Rewards Summary" --> Confrimed Rewards --> it still dhows "includes unconfirmed blocks with 2.5%+ donations".

So the donation % setting doesn't work at all.
And, 2.5%+ donations is scary to me, as it can mean 2.5%, 10%, 100%.
I sure wouldn't want to donate 100% !

That's if you've set it to 2.5+%, which you haven't. Check the block statistics to see whether you have actually donated, and it'll also say how much you've donated under My Account.

I don't really think you needed to make a thread about this. Using your brain would have brought you to the answer. I also think that you should consider donating at least something, Eleutharia works hard and I think that his work is worth my 2.5% donation.
Then I guess you didn't understand the question.
I am asking why it shows 2.5%+ even when it is set to 0%. This would make people think the donation thing is not working.
Donation is donation, who said I didn't/wouldn't donate?
I made this thread to have a question cleared up, as I am sure the owner of the site is too busy and thus can't reply to every email.

That message about unconfirmed blocks with 2.5%+ donations shows up whether you're donating 0% or 100%. Under my account, does it say that you're donating 0%? Also, go under "Rewards summary" does it say anything next to "Donations given"? (This won't appear if you've never donated).

Go to block statistics (Right hand side, pool information) and next to the blocks for which you have received an award, check whether there is anything in the "Donated" column.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding you, but it seems that you're confused by the fact that the website mentions a perk for people donating 2.5%+ even though you're not doing so yourself.

Edit; Also, with 2.50+% donations you're able to receive payouts for invalid blocks, and so far my payout from invalid blocks has exceeded my donation total, meaning that i'm actually better off nominally by donating, even if it is by 0.01BTC

AMDOverdriveCtrl -i 0
(new terminal)
AMDOverdriveCtrl -i 3
(new terminal)
cd poclbm
./gpu1.sh
(new terminal)
cd poclbm
./gpu2.sh

Sorry, need the full paths to each of the commands above.  When you're in the directory type `pwd` to see where you are.
You can also use "whereis AMDOverdriveCtrl", etc, to find the full paths.

The issue is that the startup script will start in a different directory from where you are, so we need absolute paths for each command.  Also, you're not going to get any output from these commands.  Or do you want this to just run at login in the three terminals?

I can do either.  At system startup, or at your login.

Finally, give me a 'uname -a' so I know what version of linux you're running.

Ah, sorry about that. There's actually 4 terminals that need to be opened, one for each of the AMDOverdriveCtrl instances, and one for each of the miners.

The 'poclbm' directory is located at /home/alex/poclbm with gpu1.sh and gpu2.sh inside.

The output of whereis AMDOverdriveCtrl gives me AMDOverdriveCtrl: /usr/bin/AMDOverdriveCtrl /usr/share/AMDOverdriveCtrl
but I can just access this from typing AMDOverdriveCtrl -i  0(or 3) from anywhere in the terminal.

System startup or login, aren't they the same thing? There's only one user account on here that's automatically logged in when Ubuntu loads up.

Thanks for your help with this by the way!

Going to give this a little bump before I head off to bed. Surely someone must know whether it's possible to do this Smiley
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Quad crossfire 5870 or do I use adaptors? on: June 07, 2011, 10:16:33 PM
I know this may be a tiring subject but Im being told different things by different people. Ive brought 5 of the below motherboards for 20 5870 cards. Now can someone tell me categorically whether these will fit on the board with or without adaptors? Are the number of pcie slots enough for these cards, I know they can run on x1 slots so what adaptors will I need from this store: https://cablesaurus.com/

The motherboard:

bitcoin to the most accurate answer, detailed enough to satisfy my worries! Ill pm the person for their address!

Damn, that's a nice price for that motherboard.

How come you're using 5870s mate? They're not the most cost effective cards out there.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Ubuntu autostart upon login? on: June 07, 2011, 10:12:15 PM
I am trying to figure out how to get my miners to autostart once Ubuntu logs in. Every time I restart, I need to open up AMDOverdriveCtrl for each card and then open up terminals for each of my miners.

Is there any way I can put this together in a single script so that it opens new miners in separate windows, as well as opens up AMDOverdriveCtrl?

Edit; I'll tip what I can for a good solution!
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Payout from BTC Guild, but it doesn't show up in my wallet on: June 07, 2011, 10:10:45 PM
Have you downloaded all of the blocks? The transaction won't show until you've downloaded all the blocks if you haven't had your bitcoin client open in a while and you only recently requested the payout.
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Setting idle clock speed in Ubuntu on: June 04, 2011, 10:11:57 PM

Thanks for that, worked perfectly. I'll try to remember to tip you when I'm back in Windows.
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Setting idle clock speed in Ubuntu on: June 04, 2011, 06:36:58 PM
Hi there

Basically, I have an XFX 5870 that is a little dodgy. The default idle clock speeds are too low 157 core, 300 memory meaning that when I attempt to mine, my whole system crashes and I get green artifacts all over the screen. In Windows, I can set a profile in the AMD Vision Centre (Rebranded CCC) to set the idle clocks higher so that the artifacts disappear and I don't crash.

The thing is that I want to mine in Ubuntu but I can't figure out how to change the idle clock speeds. Does anyone know how to do this? The option isn't there in CCC like it is in Windows. I also can't find the "Profiles" folder to edit the profile.
52  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Third card doesn't work on: June 02, 2011, 03:22:07 PM
I am running Windows 7 32bit
Motherboard Gigabyte AM3 AMD 870 DDR3 ATX (SATA 6G/s USB 3.0)
I have 3 XFX 5870

The problem is that I can't get the third card to work. The two that are in pcie x16 slots are working fine. If I plug the third to pcie x1 via extender Windows doesn't recognize it. I've tried dummy plugs and even plugging in monitors, but still no luck.
However, if I take the two card from x16 slots and leave only the one in x1 it boots up fine and I can start mining on it.

What do you guys think could be the problem?

What're you buying from Overclockers for? You could have saved yourself £30-£45 by buying elsewhere.
53  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Adding GPU's to media server. on: June 01, 2011, 07:28:06 PM
1. Don't know
2. I would go with at least a 500W PSU
3. Depends what kind of CPU you have in there. Make sure you set any media players to not use hardware acceleration i.e. not use the GPU and you shouldn't notice any lagg so long as you're not streaming HD content.
54  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Beginners mining rig on: May 31, 2011, 07:04:14 PM
Just looked it up, getting myself two 5870 in this setup will costs me 550 euro, and getting 2x 5830 will cost me 417 euro.

Which is actually a good point, as I'm not likely to ever see a ROI :-) Why spend that extra 133 euro?

Or maybe I should put 3x 5830 in the machine? And obviously upgrade the power supply!

Why do you think that you'll never see a ROI?
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will buy your bitcoins for cash in london, UK Today! on: May 31, 2011, 10:49:17 AM
Looks like a craigslist adult services ad, except you're wanting bitcoins, and not a man to...

Why don't you just use an exchange? Britcoin is a good one.

Guy who lives in a council estate, actually.

This has to be a joke. Piss off, commie.
58  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: UK exchange: Britcoin on: May 31, 2011, 10:36:43 AM
Thanks for your efforts on britcoin. I'd like to use it but was a little put off by an apparent typo on this page:

https://britcoin.co.uk/?page=deposit

Are those the details of a real account to electronically transfer money to? If so, the bank name is currently stated as "Llyods TSB". And who is Mr Taaki? Being ultra paranoid.

Lloyds TSB is a UK bank. Mr Taaki is genjix, I assume he's just using his personal account to handle all the withdrawals and deposits at the moment. Don't be paranoid, I've used them a few times and there's been no issues, apart from a delayed withdrawal from yesterday that hasn't gone in yet.
59  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How many Ghash/second would this rig produce? on: May 31, 2011, 10:22:05 AM
No, you wouldn't make your money back.
60  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: UK exchange: Britcoin on: May 31, 2011, 10:06:24 AM
Not to bug you, but I withdrew £15 yesterday and the status in my profile is "Finished" but the money isn't in my bank. I've made withdrawals before and when I see that they're 'Finished' I check by bank and the money's in there, but not today. I've already emailed you about this but I'm hoping that you'll be able to reply on here quicker.
