Binance listed the coin and now they're blamed for causing a high network load.
All exchanges have closed Bytecoin deposits. The price went up more than 10x through the day but really, who's buying the coins? Most importantly, who's supplying the coinc to binance if deposits closed?
The development team is alleged of doing this intentionally. Is Bytecoin a scam? How could it be that all exchanged started facing issues with deposits at the same time? Could there be insider activity involved?
I have seen this happen in crypto several times already. I think its insiders working with the exchange, probably someone higher up in management who can make decisions to list coins. So this is what they do, first they buy up a whole bunch of bytecoins. Then they list it on Binance and start pumping and selling, at the same time disrupt the network so that no hodlers can dump. Its manipulation and its illegal. If this happened on a regulated exchange like nasdaq or something like that the trading would be halted for bytecoin. This kind of nonsense will stop one the regulators step in. |

Ha it happened to me too.
My family has been saying that I'm nuts now for the past 5 years. Every Christmas I would hear about how how stupid I am spending 120K USD on mining equipment and all that electricity I was using and wasting my money.. lol..
This past Christmas the table was silent when I told them that I am retiring in 2018 and I am a multi millionaire now.
They wanted to know how to do it and wanted me to teach them. After all those years of heckling me they want my help.. You know what I told them? Its too late, just keep going to work and you'll be fine. hahahahahaha..

Yes this is sadly true  every person could lose his all money, it is just about timing that saved you. I always knew that is going to happen one day. I've started to use offline version of myetherwallet because of that. It has nothing to do with timing. People who don't understand how website security works will be affected. When you see a big red X beside myetherwallet.com then you know something is up. Yet people still sign in..  If you want to look at your holdings then you should be using etherscan.io |

There was another recent post that warned about this. From what it looks like, this issue has been addressed and MEW is back to normal.. Always worth taking extra precautions though! (also it seems like this was an issue affecting only MEW generated private keys that were generated during a certain period of time).

I feel the bitcointalk merit system should be suspended or stopped totally because it has left most people stucked in their current rank and it is quite frustrating that you can't move to the next stage without this merit.

This was a great fix for the reams of fake accounts being created and botted. They were spamming these forums with all kinds of worthless posts. I couldn't even read coin announcements without having to wade through post after post of just spam that's made to look legitimate. These forums were basically broken without it. Now there is no reason to create new accounts and up rank them with posts just to get more free coinz from airdrops. Thank you Theymos for doing this! |

Ultimately who cares what other nations posses. So long as they all keep up they will never go to war. Why you ask? Well its simple, because when one of them is about to be defeated they WILL use their nuclear weapons. Then the exchange happens and everyone loses.
Alternatively, one nation decides to first strike knowing this will be the outcome. So then the exchange happens and everyone loses.
There is no scenario where there will be winners. Therefore there will be no direct war between these powers.

Probably an attack with 51% of the possibilities is the only vulnerability of blockchain technology, and if this was all in theory before, now unfortunately we already see the actualization of such attacks
You need 51% of the hash to perform these attacks. So coins with a small amount of mining power are susceptible. To attack verge this must have been a big miner. |
