AAAHHHHH!!!!! Bitcoin address generation is best never outsourced!

Good thinking, but no, it's possible to do trustless. Crypto is wonderful technology Smiley
46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Generating Vanity Addresses on: April 24, 2014, 08:52:11 PM
Well assuming you want any with 8 a or A like

1aaaaaaaa
1AaaAaaaA
1AAAAAAAA

You have a 2^8/58^8 chance to hit per round. Thats about 10^-12. If you run 10^6 per second, you need about 10^6 seconds on average to find it. That's about 12 days. Since we rounded a bit, somewhere from a day to few weeks should be normal.

vanity is best outsourced, so when searching you are not just searching for your one address but for all requested ones at once

Government has no stance on Bitcoin. Not even many individuals have a stance on Bitcoin.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If there's a huge drop in hash power.. on: April 05, 2014, 01:09:53 PM
This is definitively a flaw in the design that needs to be fixed. Testnet ran into this problem before. I'm sure the core devs are aware, but it is low priority.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction confirmation time down on: April 04, 2014, 09:58:27 PM
Except as a business owner I'm not giving you ANYTHING till I see 3 confirmations.

Well you are free to do as you please. But try sending me coins with correct fees but no confirmation and then try taking them back.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much longer do you think Bitcoin will last? on: April 04, 2014, 08:00:46 PM
Some grandma will be using bitcoin in 2068. But her daughter will furiously insist her to use the hexaflex vr-value protocol like she's told her sooo many times before. After a while grandma will spring back, hey look, transaction is confirmed, still works like in the old days! And then she tells some old story about a mining rig she ran...

What makes you think Bitcoin is male?? And if it is male, it surely isn't out of puberty yet.
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction not confirming despite 0.2mBTC fee on: April 03, 2014, 12:03:05 PM
Average wait time is just over 9min.

You can trust zero confirm transactions by the way if the fee is high enough. It is very difficult to scam you once the transaction is around waiting for confirmation.
