41  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is web3 casino the new trend for casinos? on: June 16, 2024, 12:17:20 PM
Whether they're built as web3 casinos right from the start or they're integrating web3 features to their existing platforms, these casinos need license or registration at the very least to be able to operate legally.

That itself is enough to take this "anonymity and privacy" thing with a pinch of salt. To operate legally means they're bound by certain regulations. They cannot insist on "anonymity and privacy" when the regulating bodies to which they're accountable order them to implement KYC/AML policies. We have to remember that these web3 casinos are still private centralized companies. They toe the line or perish.
I don't think that web3 casinos can achieve complete anonymity for their gamblers because I doubt that any government will allow it, they'll always require some sort of KYC to monitor money laundering activities through them. I always wonder how a private or centralized establishment can successfully run a business that will guarantee anonymity for it's customers, so I think that there's no way that a web3 casino can fully attain complete decentralized status. We'll just wait and see how the innovations of future gambling through web3 casinos will fare.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing wisely in memecoins can give you returns. on: June 16, 2024, 10:02:02 AM
Some meme coins always do really well in a bull run. The difficulty is trying to pick the right ones because there are so many. It’s easy to pick the wrong ones & end up getting REKT but if you pick the right ones you can make life changing money. This is the game we play though, it’s live or die.
There are too many memecoins in the crypto market and it can be very confusing to make a pick from them because there are too many scam projects, so it always comes down to gambling your funds. I don't think that research helps much when it comes to memecoins because the ones that comes highly recommended might not live up to expectations and when you invest and lose your money, I doubt that you can hold anybody responsible. Apart from reputable memecoins like dogecoin, Shiba Inu and pepe, most of the rest are gambles, just make a pick, invest the amount that you can afford to loose and don't hodl for long term. They can give you massive profit on the short term and they can also sink with your funds, so know your risk tolerance before buying memecoins.
43  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this true or some superstitious believe about gambling? on: June 16, 2024, 08:18:20 AM
What's your opinion about this please?
It is common in my country for people to blame demons for their mistakes, carelessness, foolishness, and mediocrity. When criminals are caught they always blame Satan for pushing them to engage in the crime. If you were oppurtuned to know this man's gambling history you will be surprised that he was a careless gambler who never took any precautions during his gambling days. After he had lost so much, he would generally blame demons.

His claims are false because it has no scientific or even religious backing. This mindset is one of the superstitious beliefs that people blame after they have failed to do their homework. Anybody familiar with gambling will know that the house has more advantages and if you are not comfortable with the area arrangement it will be better to stop gambling than to blame demons.
It's easier and more convenient for people to blame others, circumstances, devil, demons and the universe for their mistakes and wrong decisions. The old man in the story was probably an irresponsible gambler or an addicted gambler, so it was easier for him to blame the devil and demons for his failures in gambling. We should know that we're responsible for our actions and neither God or devil can make our decisions for us, so people should stop blaming devil and demons when they lose in gambling because they're the ones that chooses to gamble, knowing that they can either win or lose. The assumption that gambling is from the devil or inspired by him is baseless, just like some people in my country will tell you that very rich people are in secret societies and it's devil that gives them riches, they're all assumptions of the poor..
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be careful with your crypto holdings and what you do with it on: June 15, 2024, 03:38:02 PM
Anybody that hodl Bitcoin, legitimately don't have anything to worry about, it's not a criminal asset and that is why it's adoption is increasing everyday. Many investors have hodled Bitcoin for years and they've never had any issues with the authorities, so the lady that was convicted in the OP Link got into trouble because she used Bitcoin for money laundering which is a crime. Bitcoin is a decentralized digital cash that anybody can hodl, both the innocent and criminals, so when the criminals uses it for money laundering and they get caught, they pay the price for their criminal activities which has nothing to do with those that hodl it legitimately.
45  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spanish Guy loses more than €500.000 in a crypto casino on: June 15, 2024, 11:25:21 AM
I really feel sorry for the guy in the OP that lost his life's savings in gambling, his story should be a lesson to every gambler that thinks that gambling is a get rich quick scheme, they'll end up becoming addicts and  broke. I'm glad that he has realized his mistake and is getting professional help, hopefully he'll come out a better and more responsible person, hopefully to quit gambling or learn to gamble with the amount that he can afford to loose. I think that he'll lose more money if he goes ahead to involve a lawyer because the casino company will ask him that if was winning instead of loses whether they wouldn't be paying him. Let him minimize his loses and move on.
46  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nor Be Just to Know Bitcoin, Na Who Teach You and Wetin Dem Tell You on: June 15, 2024, 08:36:08 AM
This kinds of stories na im de give people bad impression about Bitcoin, dem go de reason say di decentralized digital cash na for money laundering, meanwhile dem go forget say most criminal activities na through fiat currencies dem de occur. I de glad say our police do dem work well by apprehending di ungrateful boys, atleast people go understand say di purpose of Bitcoin for di crime na just a means of payment, no be say Bitcoin itself na criminal cryptocurrency.

I know say di negative perception wey many people get about Bitcoin wen e first come out don change because di awareness and adoption de increase everyday for di country. No matter wetin person wey introduce you to Bitcoin tell you, you suppose DYOR because na money matter
47  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a habit of tracking your gambling progress? on: June 15, 2024, 05:58:27 AM
Do you have a habit of tracking your gambling progress?

I’m not sure either if tracking is still advisable while most of the casino already have loyalty page to track your total wager volume and stats on your casino account. It will be very painful to track progress if you are frequently losing than winning. This might ignite too a more chasing losses in the future so I really suggest to don’t do it in regular basis.
I don't really see the point in tracking gambling progress because in the end I doubt that the gambler will be delighted with the results. It's a clear fact that people lose more than they win in gambling and checking their progress will be like counting their loses, it's either that they will embark on a quest to recover their loses which can lead them to becoming addicts or angry with themselves for indulging in gambling. So it's not advisable to worry about the progress of gambling to know how much you've put in and what you've profited or lost, unless you're a professional gambler. Best approach for people that gambles for fun is to do so with the amount that can afford to loose.
48  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Accepting Crypto Salaries Worth It? on: June 14, 2024, 03:58:57 PM
Receiving salaries in cryptocurrency is worth it because it doesn't have any boundaries and the receiver don't have to worry about the location where they receive it. It's true that cryptocurrencies are volatile and a crypto like Bitcoin, is best to hodl on the long term, but the receiver will need money on the short term, that is why I'll prefer that they receive salaries in stablecoins.

With stablecoins a person can budget their salary, the ones for expenditure can be converted to fiat and the one for long term savings or investments can be converted to Bitcoin. Also Bitcoin is a good option to collect salaries with, it's a digital cash for payments and an investment asset that is a store of value.  The holder can convert Bitcoin to stablecoins for short term savings and some to fiat for payments where they don't accept Bitcoin.
49  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino/gambling center near an institution of learning? on: June 14, 2024, 10:33:10 AM
Do you think having a casino or any gambling center close to an institution of learning, will influence the students somehow or should I say be a positive or negative reinforcement on them, in anyway?

Thoughts?
Actually in our current age, I see most youth/students betting online while though having these center's will even influences more others to gamble since they can physically meet like minded peers.

In this internet age where we have online casinos, students and anybody else doesn't need physical casinos to gamble, they only need a smart phone to do so. But if these physical casinos and sports bet shops are situated near institutions, it'll help to influence more students into gambling, even those that are not into it can become curious and want to experiment what it feels like to gamble like fellow students.

I think that the main reason why physical gambling establishments are not supposed to be near schools is because majority of the students are not financially independent, they depend on parents and loved ones to cater for their financial needs. In that regard anything that can distract their attentions to spending money that is given to them outside of their studies should be discouraged.
50  Economy / Speculation / Re: plant a tree, when bitcoin price increase new record $1k on: June 14, 2024, 08:31:26 AM
Any positive activities or challenges to keep us occupied while we wait for the much anticipated time when Bitcoin price will hit $100k is very welcomed by me. Planting one tree everyday when Bitcoin, adds $1 after it crosses the present ATH price is a very good idea to save our planet, so we're looking at planting about 27 trees by the time price reaches $100k, that'll be a laudable project for anybody that takes up the challenge.

But I don't know how feasible it'll be for people like us who live in congested urban areas, even if we want to plant these trees it'll not be possible because there's hardly any space to plant trees in the cities. So I encourage those of us that lives in the country sides to plant these trees whether it's for Bitcoin price increase or to save the planet, it's a noble act.
51  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A man is unable to collect his price cos he forget where he bought the ticket. on: June 14, 2024, 06:12:43 AM
It depends on the duration that lottery tickets can last before a winner can claim their win, if it's within months then it's possible for a person that buys tickets in different locations to forget where they bought the winning ticket. Where there's no excuse is if a winner must claim their win within a day or two, then it's supposed to be easier for him to figure out where he bought the winning ticket. I feel that unless a lottery company has a reason to suspect that the person that presented the ticket is not the real winner, then there's no genuine reason why they shouldn't pay the holder of the winning ticket, unless it's stated in their terms and conditions that winners must state where they bought their tickets. If it's not a norm among lottery companies to demand where a winning ticket is bought, then that lottery company probably wants to scam the winner.
52  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: June 13, 2024, 03:39:05 PM
Got my 300 in today.  I could probably push it to 400 but I don't see a need so I'll maybe try that another time.  Smaller sets would have probably helped me get through it easier.  Still, I feel pretty good that I did 300 today easier than it was to do 100 when I started this competition.  I for sure have never done 300 push-ups in a day before in my life.  Seeing the growth in push-ups of this community is almost as fun as watching the growth of Bitcoin.  I say almost because you guys aren't giving me any money.  Smiley  Push on!

Yeah, my current max is also 300, and I did it on May 7th with 5 sets of 60... and probably before this pushup challenge I had not done more than 100 pushups in a day.. I am not sure, but I cannot remember having any obsession with pushups prior to this challenge.

If I ever try to do 500 in a day, then I probably would do them in something between 12 and 15 sets, and it probably would not be exact sets.. I would just start out with as many I can do in good form, and then just keep doing that around every hour until I reach 500, and so maybe towards the end I might ONLY be able to do less than 30 per set.. but that is o.k... since I will likely start to get really close by the time I get towards the end of the day.. so maybe it is a day to look forward to.. .. so my current thinking is that either 1-5 days after BTC reaches $100k, then I will do as many pushups that I can during the time that I am awake.. presumptively once an hour from the time I get up until I either tell myself that I am done for the day.. or that I reach some number 500 or whatever that I am sufficiently satisfied to be a reasonable amount (for me)... Something to look forward to.

Here's my latest report:

100k,JayJuanGee,123,24425,2024-06-06
300 pushups in a day sounds very intimidating and at the same time encouraging for an average pusher like me, and you're talking about attempting 500 in a day, that'll be pure awesomeness. I do 10 sets in a day and it's only on the first set that I can do way above 10 pushups, in the subsequent sets, it'll be diminishing, I guess you guys must have been into serious pushups before this 100k challenge, and must have superhero physiques. I guess with seriousness and dedication me and other members who're average pushers can attempt to reach and cross 100 pushups in 10 sets. I'm however glad that I joined this energetic challenge, it has been very rewarding for me.

7th day since my last report, I pushed a total of 368 in 5 days. My report: 100k,Kelward,23,1182,2024-06-13
53  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Preparedness is better than prediction on: June 13, 2024, 01:34:47 PM
Preparedness na the most important thing to do if you wan make or get good things for dis life, some people na mouth dem take dey read ,like Bitcoin we no suppose to dey talk too much before we invest because we know say at all at all we go make am no matter from an amount wey we start to dey invest ,imagine people wey still sit down dey look sey the price of Bitcoin go come down before dem go buy, I no see dat person say him get money to really buy and invest because person wey get money and know wetin investment for Bitcoin dey about, no dey waste time at all. Unlike person wey only dey talk, him wan dey predict weytin go happen next make I be like sey him follow for the matter.
Weti  dey worry people from. Buying bitcoin is procrastination,  that is wetin for the price of bitcoin to come down  for them to buy which sometimes it doesn't even come down just as people expect.  Most people waiting for the price to come down are not even ready to invest in bitcoin they use this as an excuse and later they start regretting for not buying bitcoin as the price is low. Nobody enters the market and do well unprepared .
Procrastination na very big problem wey de make many people to de speculate wen Bitcoin, price go dip well well before dem go buy, but dem forget say nobody know tomorrow, something else fit to carry di money go before price go dip. So di matter no be just to prepare but to get accurate knowledge of wetin you de prepare for and do am at di right time, so I believe say di best preparation for Bitcoin, na to do DCA method. With DCA you no need too much speculations or predictions, na to accumulate and hodle till di peak of bull run, then you go decide weda to sale or continue to hodl.
54  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does prediction in sport work for you? on: June 13, 2024, 11:22:40 AM

If you are interested in gambling on sports, do you rely on prediction betting sites? Why?
What is the most prominent site you rely on?
Sports prediction sites are ok to get more perspectives to a match, you can also get predictions from fellow gamblers in sports bet shops but the final decision on which team to bet should be yours. Why the final decisions has to be yours is because both predictions sites and fellow gamblers can be wrong about the outcome of a match, so you can hear from them, take their analysis into consideration, but let the final decision to be what you want. Make your final decisions and take the full responsibilities for the outcome of your bets because it's easier to blame a source that offers help if you lose your a bet.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Parents on childs savings bank accounts are waste of time if not saving on BTC on: June 13, 2024, 09:47:18 AM
Knowledge is power and the informed parents will make better decisions for their children's education fund. I always see bankers who go around marking education funds to parents, they'll preach the importance of having a special bank account to save for their kids future, and the savings plans are good for those parents that doesn't know better. Having a special none custodial wallet to  hodl Bitcoin for your kids future is the best investment plan that any parent can leave for their children, it's far better than savings in fiat because it's a store of value and also a hedge against inflation.

Money in the bank can never give a person the ROI that Bitcoin will give on the long term, but Bitcoin price will continue to increase in the future and beyond using it's massive profit for the children's education, the wallet can be handed over to them to continue to hodl when they become adults.
56  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The real winning of gambling is withdrawals on: June 13, 2024, 07:29:11 AM
I think that part of the fun in gambling should be to take profit, gamblers should reward themselves by using their wins to spend on something other than gambling. It's not everytime that you win and there's a high chance of losing  the win when you use it to gamble again, so why take the chance, it's like a trophy that you won, you should take and enjoy it. Gambling can be addictive, if the gambler doesn't apply wisdom and discipline, he can be carried away and keep gambling more than the amount that is estimated, so caution is very important to avoid greed and temptations of over gambling at any point in time.
57  Economy / Economics / Re: Should there be a limit to investing in your children? on: June 12, 2024, 01:20:29 PM
I think that most parents puts too much expectations in their children, they tend to go the extra mile to make sure that their children gets the very best education that they can afford, so that the children in return will be well-off and take care of them. This notion is wrong, parents should give unconditional love to their children, give them the best of everything that they can afford, including education, because it's their responsibilities to do so, not just because they want something in return. It's fine to expect excellence, good character that is a testament of good upbringings, but it's not proper to expect that your children must be rich so that they can take care of you. Parents should try and give their children basic education, not necessarily an expensive one if they cannot afford it.

Good education is no longer a guarantee to become rich in this technological age, I've heard of uneducated people and school dropouts who later became millionaires. Some people will make fortunes in unrelated areas of their studies in the universities, so to become rich a person needs to have the mindset of the rich, not necessarily becoming educated in the four walls of a class, and parents should understand this.
58  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Trading or gambling? on: June 12, 2024, 09:58:10 AM
Crypto trading and gambling both have one thing in common and that is risk, not knowing whether you will make profit/win or lose. The difference between them is that gambling is relaxation and entertainment while trading is seriousness and professionalism, you don't need to be a professional to gamble. It takes a short time to understand how to gamble, but trading requires a person to learn fundamental and technical analysis to be able to understand how to make trading decisions. So I think that gambling is easier but it involves more risks while you can control loses in trading, and it makes it less riskier.

60  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Understand Math? on: June 12, 2024, 06:32:59 AM
f lottery and gambling in anyway depend on mattematics to make gamblers to win, then gamblers will be bagging degrees and PhDs in maths but clearly the mathematics that is in gambling is probability and it doesn't guarantee winnings. The major factor that determines wins and loses in gambling is luck, if there is any other major factor, I'm sure that the whole gambling companies would've gone bankrupt because gamblers would've taken advantage of the strategies to wreck them. I see a lot of gamblers in lotto shops permulating all day, yet it's once in a while that they win, meaning that it's on their lucky day that they win, not necessarily because of their calculations everyday
